New Year—New Opportunities We are planning programs and activities for you to enjoy in 2021. Understanding there is still uncertainty as to when we might gather again to enjoy lunch out or an evening social hour in the new year, we are hosting classes at the library and will be active outdoors on local trails, weather permitting. Be assured we will follow state public health guidelines to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants. Check out scheduled offerings inside including Morning Coffee Chat, an all new Mind Fit series, ID Theft & Fraud Prevention and more. Programs can also be found at highlandsranch.org/aaps. For availability and to register visit highlandsranch.org/signmeup.

Senior center project moving forward As a result of the repeal to the Gallagher Amendment and the favorable impact on the Metro District’s long-range finances, the board of directors determined the senior center project will move forward. Staff is evaluating options for the new senior center, and developing plans and timelines for design, public involvement and construction. HOW WE CAN HELP YOU: FAQs Q: I am a caregiver for my parent who still lives at home. Are services available that could step in when I cannot be there or to give me an occasional break? A: Yes. A licensed non-medical in-home care agency can provide companionship, light housekeeping, meal prep, transportation and more. Agencies are bonded and insured. There are also county-directed services and benefits that provide these services, giving you the support and break you need so you can continue to be a healthy and involved care provider. Q: I sometimes need a ride to the doctor, grocery store or other places around town. Is there transportation available to me? A: Yes. There are several private and county-directed services that can help you with transportation needs. Contact Jodie McCann at jmccann@highlandsranch.org or 720-240-4922. Q: I am looking for activities to safely connect with others during the COVID-19 pandemic. What is available to me and where do I find the information? A: AAPS has been adapting activities to comply with public health guidelines during COVID-19. AAPS continues to bring people together via Zoom or outdoor activities. Visit highlandsranch.org/signmeup and click on the Active Adults (Seniors) box to view and register for scheduled AAPS programs.
