When choosing apps, find options that allow your child to use problem solving skills, critical thinking and creativity.
If you choose to use screen time, make it a quality family time by participating in the activity with your child. Choose media that is both entertaining and educational. Set limits for screen time and balance media with other forms of entertainment such as games and physically active play. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends: Television and other entertainment media should be avoided for infants and children under age 2. A child’s brain develops rapidly during these first years, and young children learn best by interacting with people, not screens.
