Happy New Year We all make resolutions to do things better during the upcoming year. Lose weight, do better with our finances and so on. This year you may want to consider what kind of legacy you are leaving with your friends, family, acquaintances, and associates. The following was shared with me recently. Consider making a new resolution this year. . . ways I will impact the next generation.

5 Ways to Impact Our Next Generation What impact can you have on the generations after to help set them up for success? 1. Be mindful and intentional of your actions and behaviors on a day-to-day basis. The younger generations are very visual. What you do speaks louder than what you say. The old adage, “do as I say, not as I do” does not fly anymore. 2. Don’t be so disengaged that you don’t appear to understand reality. There is nothing new under the sun. My 17 year old son just came to the realization that we are still experiencing the same issues that were experienced in biblical times. The same lessons apply today to our situations. Same story…different times! 3. Don’t be afraid to “get naked” to help someone else see, grow, and learn. What I mean is sometimes we have to show our younger generation we, too, are human. We can’t be so focused on “preaching” to our kids about what they should do (especially when we made the same mistake), that we don’t become relatable. We will gain more respect when we show we are human too. Advise them to learn from “our mistakes” rather than repeating them. 4. Each-One-Teach-One. Own the responsibility of identifying (reach out) and teach/mentor/lead someone within your area of expertise. It might be financial responsibility or showing someone how to be a great wife, husband, or parent. Your experience and example are needed. 5. Don’t give up on them! It’s easy to say, “they don’t want to listen/care” or “those young people are a mess! Look how they dress, how they act, and speak”. I’m pretty sure there were people who may have said the same thing about your generation. Compassion and love for our children must reign. If that’s what you demonstrate, I guarantee you will pass along an invaluable message and example to our youth.

ROBERT ESTEP

Associate Broker, SRES Choosing a REALTOR® is no different than choosing a doctor or an attorney. You want to choose someone with experience and a proven record. I have been a REALTOR for over 22 years (12 years in Michigan and 10 years in Arizona). I have a proven record in traditional sales as well as foreclosures. I am an Associate Broker and have my Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) Certification. My office is in Surprise. My business covers Surprise, Sun City Grand, Sun City West, Sun City, and Sun City Festival in Buckeye. I have created “one-click” search categories for each of the West Valley’s active adult communities and all communities in Surprise. This makes it easy for you to get the information you are searching for. You DO NOT have to register anywhere to get this information. I, myself, do not like when a website asks me to register so I am not requesting this information from you to view the West Valley listings.

Of course, my hope is, when you are ready to purchase or sell a home, you will choose me to represent you. Customer service has always been a priority with me. The service, and in many cases the friendship, doesn’t end when the transaction is finished. So take a look and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call or e-mail me. There is no obligation.
