Eco-friendly cardboard box As part of Hiddenfjord’s ongoing efforts to reduce our carbon footprint, we have replaced our polystyrene (EPS) boxes with recyclable cardboard boxes, called EcoFishBox.
Unchanged quality The corrugated and waxed cardboard box maintains the uncompromised quality, freshness and shelf life of our salmon. Our cold chain management, using sea freight and truck transport, secures optimal product preservation through the entire journey, all the way from the Faroe Islands to you.
Environmental impact
By transitioning to cardboard, Hiddenfjord has achieved a 17% reduction in CO₂ emissions for packaging production, transportation to Madrid and disposal of packaging, as supported by data¹.
Customers want eco-friendly boxes
In a 2022 survey², nearly 500 chefs and purchasing decision makers across the USA were asked if they would switch salmon suppliers to avoid EPS packaging and instead receive it in a more environmentally friendly recyclable cardboard box. 73% of respondents answered ‘yes’.
Recycling
The EcoFishBox can be recycled as normal corrugated cardboard. The recycling process varies depending on location.
