This dedication to lasting beauty and everyday comfort is evident in every piece, built by master craftsmen who have been with the company for decades. GETTING AROUND HICKORY FURNITURE MART

You have finally decided to visit Hickory Furniture Mart, but now you just need to decide the best way to maneuver throughout four levels and a million square feet of furniture showrooms, factory outlets and manufacturers’ galleries. If you have never been to the Mart before, the massive building is often intimidating when you first walk through its doors.

For those who do not already have a favorite showroom established, the opportunities seem endless. There is really not a right or a wrong way to get started. Some visitors choose to start on the level where they enter from the parking lot, while others prefer tackling all levels in the same section of the building, before moving along to the next. Some start at Level 1 and work their way up and others start at Level 4 and work their way down.

No matter where or how you get started, make sure you are wearing your most comfortable walking shoes. (You will definitely thank us later.) When you enter, you will be greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable guest services representative who will provide you with a layout of the building like the one you see on page 9. They will ask you various questions about what style, brand, or category of furniture you are looking for and then they will circle the showrooms that best suit your needs to help you get started.

The Mart is divided into 4 different levels and 4 different sections: The North Entrance is the entrance that is located on the frontside of the building off Hwy. 70. This is also where you will find L&L Catering and Bistro and the Nursing Lounge. The South Entrance is located on the backside of the building off Catawba Valley Blvd. The South entrance is completely accessible for those using a wheelchair, needing a ramp or those needing other accessibility accommodations. It is also where our local coffeehouse (Taste Full Beans) is located. The East Entrance is located directly across from the Holiday Inn Express’ main entrance and lobby area. This is also where the Mart Office and Partners in Design Lounge are located. Our West Entrance is the entrance located next to Applebee’s and is where our local café (L&L Catering and Bistro) is located.

Knowing the names of these sections and entrances is beneficial because most showroom sales and design associates and Mart employees will reference these locations when directing you to the places you may want to go within the building.

Each main furniture showroom represents multiple manufacturers (brands) or with those representing Amish furniture, multiple Amish family builders. Our rug galleries represent multi-generational families of rug weavers as well.

Each of our factory outlets offer products that have been sent directly from their local factories and are available immediately for pick-up at the Mart. These items may also be scheduled for a future delivery to your home. Make sure you read about our consolidated shipping process on pages 82-83. This is important information to make sure your furniture arrives safely to your home after you leave the Mart.

Our sales and design associates and interior designers are some of the most knowledgeable experts within the industry. They are trained by local furniture experts, and many have grown up in the furniture industry so please let them help make your furniture shopping experience an enjoyable and memorable one.

If you have any questions at all during your visit, please stop by any of our showrooms and if they do not have the answers to your questions, chances are they will be able to find someone in the building who does.

After your first visit, you will find that navigating where you want to go and what you want to see will become much easier.

Practice makes perfect, so come back often and know that you are supporting local furniture manufacturers, designers, retailers and craftsmen with every visit you make. We cannot thank you enough for that. We hope you enjoy your visit.

TAYLOR KING

INSIDE GOOD’S HOME FURNISHINGS

From concept to completion, every piece created by Taylor King speaks to “the art of upholstery.” Each frame is upholstered by a single, experienced artisan, one piece at a time, and when an order calls for multiples, the same craftsperson builds each one to ensure consistency. Hardwood frames are constructed for a lifetime, with every corner glued, screwed, and corner-blocked for enduring strength. Beneath the surface, eight-way hand-knotted coil springs form an exceptional foundation designed with comfort as its highest purpose. Four distinct cushion options allow you to tailor the “sit” to your personal preference. Fabrics are cut and applied with a full-flow match, aligning patterns flawlessly top to bottom and side to side. Decorative nail trim is applied meticulously by hand, one nail at a time. This is upholstery made with intention, artistry, and an unwavering devotion to comfort and quality. Their inspiration has no boundaries, and their creations are sophisticated, classic, and timeless.

We would be honored to create a beautiful piece of furniture tailored just for you.

O.W. LEE OUTDOOR

INSIDE GOOD’S HOME FURNISHINGS

For nearly 80 years, O.W. Lee Furniture, a thirdgeneration family business, has been dedicated to the design and production of fine, handcrafted outdoor furniture. From their 450,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Texas, artisans combine centuries-old techniques with state-of-the-art equipment to produce beautiful outdoor furniture.

O.W. Lee Company uses only the highest quality materials in the production of their furniture. Carbon steel, galvanized steel, and 6061 alloy aluminum are chosen for superior strength as well as rust and corrosion resistance. Materials are individually measured and precision-cut to ensure a smooth and accurate fit. Steel and aluminum pieces are bent into exact shapes and then hand forged with a hammer and anvil, a process unchanged since blacksmiths in the Middle Ages. A full circumference weld is applied wherever metal components intersect.

This eliminates the possibility of moisture entering the interior of the tubing or in a crevice, a process that guards against rust and corrosion. All welds are then grounded and sanded to create a seamless transition from one component to another. This is O.W. Lee’s commitment to only producing the most durable American Made outdoor furniture.

ROYA RUGS

Step inside Roya Rugs and immerse yourself in a showroom where history, artistry, and family legacy are woven together, knot by knot. Since 2002, this family-owned business has built a reputation for curating one of the most extensive selections of handmade rugs in the country, offering you the opportunity to discover a foundational piece of artistry that will transform the look and the feel of your home.

Founded by David Mostafaloo, Roya Rugs began as Unique Oriental Rugs & More with just 49 hand-selected rugs and a 700-square-foot showroom. For David, the path to becoming a rug curator was not generational, it was a calling sparked by a moment of clarity while working in the import/export business. One day when traveling with a colleague that was an avid rug collector, David discovered how a single misaligned pattern on a rug could change the entire perception of its value and beauty. This realization ignited a passion in him to understand a rug - not just as a simple piece of décor, but as a living work of art, sharing the personal story of its maker. From that point on, David found himself enamored with the world of rug design and craftsmanship, learning the nuances of patterns, dyes, weaves, and cultural styles while gaining a deeper understanding of what customers really wanted in their own homes. His mission was clear - to create a destination where every rug would feel as distinct as the homes they would eventually grace.

What began as a modest showroom quickly grew into something far greater. By listening to his customers and building a dedicated manufacturing team of some of the world’s most talented weavers, David expanded into an 11,000+ square foot gallery with a selection of over 8,000 hand-knotted, hand-loomed, hand-tufted, and finely crafted rugs for both retail customers and trade professionals. From rare antiques to vibrant, modern designs,

the gallery’s collection now caters to every style, size, generation, and budget. But the heart of the business has always remained within its family roots. Today, David works alongside his son Saman, who joined the business after graduating from college with a business management degree. Saman’s first suggestion was rebranding the gallery and changing the name to Roya Rugs. Roya means “dream” or “vision” in Persian and symbolizes hope, poetic beauty, and aspiration. Saman represents the second generation of their family legacy, infusing a fresh perspective into the brand by personally designing collections that speak to younger homeowners and a new era of interior style. His philosophy centers around

trends in the interior design world - by collaborating with professionals in the industry to create new and bespoke designs, textures, and colorways that the market has not yet seen. Every rug in their gallery tells its own story, through its patterns and colors, about the painstaking process behind its creation. Many of Roya’s hand-knotted rugs take six months to a year to complete, and their designs are planned one to two years in advance to reflect future trends in both color and motif. This forwardthinking approach ensures that each rug feels timeless while still echoing the evolving dimensions of design.

Beyond showcasing such an impressive inventory, Roya Rugs offers invaluable expertise and service. Their team works closely with customers to help identify the perfect rug for each space inside their home. Once chosen, they offer their expertise and guidance on care and maintenance, helping customers to protect and preserve their precious investment for years to come.

Roya Rugs remains committed to pushing the boundaries by experimenting with innovative techniques, contemporary palettes, and fresh designs, while honoring the cultural craftsmanship that defines their collections. The gallery’s expansive assortment features options for every lifestyle, from investment pieces to functional child and pet-friendly designs that bring warmth and character to everyday spaces. If you have never been to their gallery, it is time for you to make a trip to Hickory and experience for yourself everything they have to offer.

ROYA RUGS

Most custom hand-knotted rugs take six months to a year to complete, and their designs are planned one to two years in advance. When buying a high-quality hand-knotted rug, focus on its material and seek natural fibers for superior quality and longevity. Wool is durable and resilient, while silk is lustrous and strong. Ask about the rug’s knot density. Higher knots per square inch (kpsi) mean greater detail and durability. Anything under 120 kpsi is generally considered lower quality, while 330+ kpsi is premium quality. When you flip the rug over, you should notice distinct, uniform “V” shapes (knots) indicating it has been hand-tied by an experienced weaver, not a machine. Take time to feel the rug’s pile. It should feel luxurious, not scratchy. The denser the pile, the more traffic it will withstand. Natural imperfections are a sign of a rug’s charm and authenticity. A rug’s edge should always be hand-bound, not glued. And verify the region the rug comes from. Handcrafted rugs are a valuable investment that will be passed along through generations.

DESIGNING WOMEN

Sally McEachern absolutely adored her grandmother. She spent many of her childhood days following her around enthusiastically watching her while she worked. Her grandparents owned a local paint store in the 1940s and 50s and they became well-known for designing High Point Market showrooms for some of the region’s most popular furniture manufacturers. Her grandmother had an unbelievable eye for design and could transform the personality of any room just by selecting the right paint color that expressed the mood she wanted it to convey. Sally’s mother was also inspired by her mom and became an artist and painter, so naturally, Sally was immersed in artistic design from the very beginning.

After graduating from the Atlanta School of Design, she continued her design studies at Randolph Technical College where she learned about the technical aspects of home construction and wiring. After graduation, she met her soulmate, got married, and moved to Hickory. Sally took a job with Alderman Studios, a prominent set design studio, and worked there for the next two years designing sets for furniture

product catalog photo shoots. After that, she decided to start working on commercial design projects in Hickory, and in 1984 she decided to open her own design firm in downtown Hickory with longtime friend and design partner Marsha White. They registered the name “Designing Women, Inc.,” (the same year the popular TV show Designing Women aired).

Initially they focused on contract design in hospitals, hotels, and corporate offices. They also worked directly with major developers to remodel and stage their properties. But Sally and Marsha quickly found themselves taking on additional residential projects in the evenings at many of their contract client’s personal homes, so they thought it might be best to move their offices directly inside the Mart to make their furniture shopping more convenient. When a quaint, cozy little nook became available inside the Mart, Sally decided it was time to venture out on her own. She bought Marsha’s share of the business, and in 1997, Designing Women officially opened its doors to the public inside the Mart.

For nearly 40 years, Sally and her team of interior designers have cultivated strong relationships and partnerships with not only the furniture stores inside the Mart, but also the local furniture factories, and the expansive furniture community in our region. This allows them to provide their residential and commercial clients with a vast network of resources that most designers do not have access to. Whether you are looking for indoor and outdoor furniture, accessories, new and antique rugs, designer fabrics, window treatments, or indoor and outdoor lighting, Sally and her team are here to help. Through their earlier commercial design projects, they forged longstanding partnerships with custom cabinetry makers, flooring specialists, and countless other vendors within the home furnishings industry, and they still partner with these contacts today.

Your time with Designing Women begins with just a simple conversation. Their team will start by discussing your lifestyle, the functionality you want in your home, and your overall budget. Budget plays a vital role in the process as it guides them in recommending the best furniture options based on your preferred look and price point, allowing them to keep your budget exactly where you want it. Whether you walk in with professional blueprints, a hand-drawn sketch, or a fundamental idea, their talented and seasoned team will make your dream home a reality. And they have the flexibility to work with you onsite or online based on your specific needs. So, what are you waiting for? Your dream home is only a phone call away.

REFLECTIONS FURNITURE

Reflections Furniture is more than a name; it is a tale of family, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. Born into an Italian family and raised in Belgium, Giovanni Guidi, an engineer by trade, immigrated to America in 1981 with his wife and two young daughters. He traveled to America full of excitement and ambition, going to work for a local glass company that was located in the foothills of North Carolina. In 1982, Giovanni and Natalie welcomed their third daughter and when the glass company closed a few years later, they decided to open up a small wholesale business inside Hickory Furniture Mart selling solid glass clocks, glass pedestals and glass tables that Giovanni personally engineered, designed, and constructed with his very own hands. This engineer by trade quickly turned into a visionary artisan. Their company name Reflections was inspired by the artful interplay of light through glass, which perfectly encapsulated the essence of Giovanni’s original creations.

The transition of Hickory Furniture Mart from a wholesale center to a retail destination in 1985 marked a pivotal moment for Giovanni. He expanded Reflections’ offerings to include contemporary and modern European designs, infusing his roots into each carefully curated piece. This addition was a rekindling of Giovanni’s artistic passions, blending traditional

craftsmanship with avant-garde designs.

LEATHER & MORE

Monique Dunn started her career traveling around the world selling luxurious jewelry to wholesalers and retailers. She thoroughly learned and understood the needs and desires of her affluent clientele, and she was highly respected by her vendors and industry peers because of this. In her late fifties, Monique decided to shift course and challenge herself in a completely new industry, but wanted to select one that shared the same type of clientele that appreciated sophisticated designs and exceptional quality craftsmanship. With fine furniture design and production being such a large industry in High Point, she decided to work for a local furniture company that sold customizable leather furniture to residential and commercial customers. She learned everything she could, not only about the furniture industry, but also about premium leather, and quickly established valuable key contacts and friends within both industries. In 2004, with the support of these colleagues, Monique decided to open her own premier leather furniture gallery. She started out with only 3,000 square feet of showroom space and called it Leather & More. Leather & More was born from a simple idea; exquisite leather furniture should never be out of reach. What began as a passion for responsibly sourced materials and time-honored methods, quickly evolved into a second generational family business that balances everyday livability with premium materials and construction.

While she was running her gallery in High Point, friends and colleagues kept telling her that Hickory Furniture Mart was the place to be, but unfortunately the Mart did not have any unoccupied space, so she continued operating her gallery there. In late 2005, a similar sized space became available inside the Mart, so she convinced her son Jason to join her as a partner in the business and run the Hickory location while she continued to run the High Point location. Then in late 2008, a larger 11,000 square foot space became available inside the Mart, so they decided it was the right time to expand and consolidate both galleries into one unified location. They moved their entire operations to Hickory, where they remain today offering an expansive selection of premium leather furniture products to their customers.

Today, their team offers over 35 years of combined industry experience, and their gallery continues to be guided by that founding vision - offer factory-direct pricing, personalized service, and showcase one of the most extensive leather selections in the region. With a knowledgeable team of leather experts onsite, shoppers are able to explore an assortment of leather grades, colors, silhouettes, and care options tailored specifically to individual aesthetic preferences and lifestyles.

Their newly renovated showroom offers a warm, inviting backdrop to explore premium selections from leading domestic and international manufacturers. Every design is completely customizable, making it easy to create a one-of-a-kind piece that feels right at home.

Experience the craftsmanship. Feel the quality. And discover the timeless comfort that only fine leather offers.

AMISH OAK & CHERRY

Amish Oak & Cherry stands as a true testament of time with the enduring beauty and quality of American Made, Amish built furniture. This family-owned showroom has specialized in providing heirloom quality Amish craftsmanship to its customers since 2001 when they opened their first 5,000 square foot gallery inside the Mart. After multiple expansions along the way, they now offer customers over 30,000 square feet of American Made handcrafted Amish designs, in addition to local leather and fabric upholstery options, each piece made to last a lifetime – and beyond.

Their journey began when founder Eddie Bumgarner, who had deep roots within the local furniture industry, set out to bring multi-generations of Amish craftsmanship together in Hickory, North Carolina. As word spread among Amish builders, the number of enthusiastic partnerships grew rapidly, prompting multiple showroom expansions in order to accommodate the increasing variety of solid wood Amish styles and designs now being offered to local retailers. After years of working side-by-side with her father, Misty and her husband Jeremy have since taken over the family business following Eddie’s retirement. Today, they continue to lead the store with the same commitment to excellence, family, and their unwavering focus to only offer customers American Made craftsmanship throughout their entire showroom.

When you step into Amish Oak & Cherry, you are welcomed by an extraordinary selection of solid wood furniture handcrafted by nearly 250 Amish families. With eight wood species, more than 30 finish options, and the ability to custom design pieces down to the smallest detail –including stain matching and unique distressing – this showroom turns furniture shopping into a truly personal experience. Customers are encouraged to bring in their own ideas, drawings and dimensions for that one-of-a-kind custom design of their very own.

Whether you are drawn to classic Mission styles, elegant traditional designs, or transitional silhouettes, Amish Oak & Cherry believes that furniture should be made with care and attention to detail, integrity, and a commitment to longevity. Their signature catalyzed conversion varnish, the most durable wood finish available, ensures your investment will withstand everyday life with grace and beauty.

Here, every piece tells a story – of the hands that built it, families that will cherish it, and a legacy of craftsmanship that proudly stands the test of time from one generation to the next.

Jason Dunn grew up learning everything he could about the furniture industry from his mother Monique. She was instrumental in Jason discovering his love for fine leather furniture and he has thoroughly enjoyed working with her in their family business for the past 25 years.

In 2024, after finishing a major renovation and relocation of their main Leather & More gallery, a smaller space opened up right next to them, and Jason decided it was the perfect time to expand their presence in the Mart and extend their business into a third generation to carry on their family’s furniture legacy. He

opened a new gallery and asked his son David to manage it. David grew up learning about the world of furniture from both his grandmother and his father, so he was naturally ready to step right into that position.

In two short years, with the success of David running this new gallery featuring one main American Made collection, Jason decided to rebrand this space and expand his offerings to customers by bringing in additional American Made lines, featuring both premium leather and fabric options that are completely customizable. So in 2026 he renamed their gallery to Made in America Home. David is now the third generation contributing to

and eventually leading their family business and he has thrived working with his father and grandmother these past two years. He is excited about what his future in furniture will bring and his role in carrying on his family’s legacy.

Now their family business is positioned for continuous growth with the ability to adjust their offerings to the changing needs of the next generation, which looks at furniture much differently than the generation before it. Once David has a family of his own, his children will become the fourth generation to carry on their family business. And Jason and Monique, couldn’t be prouder.

SIMPLY HOME BY LINDY’S FURNITURE

Stepping into Simply Home by Lindy’s Furniture feels less like entering a store and more like arriving at the home of an old friend. For over 100 years, the Hudson family has welcomed customers with the same care, sincerity, and commitment to quality that has been their hallmark since 1917. This fourth generational family business continues to blend traditional timehonored values together with a diverse selection of home furnishings, all at an affordable price point to accommodate almost any budget.

The Hudson family’s journey began in 1917 in the foothills of North Carolina, where founder Jones Edney (JE) Hudson and his nephew Fred opened their first general store. Over the years, their business slowly evolved from selling groceries and farm equipment to becoming a trusted name in the community, by offering the best selection of furniture. JE’s sons, Jones Edney Jr. (“Ed Jr.”) and Harry Lindy Hudson (“Lindy”), carried that vision a step further by establishing Lindy’s Furniture as a beloved local furniture destination.

In 2016, Lindy’s daughter, Katie Hudson-Purgason, continued to carry that family legacy forward with the vision of offering a dedicated showroom designed to make every guest feel instantly at home. Thus, Simply Home by Lindy’s Furniture was born. In just a few short years, Simply Home has grown threefold, a testament to its style selections, affordable pricing, and

repeat customers. Katie’s philosophy was simple; treat every customer like family, offer exceptional value, and create an experience worth returning for. Along with Katie, her siblings Lindy, Cessy, and Julie are also actively involved in the family’s multiple store locations, working together to keep their family’s legacy strong.

Simply Home by Lindy’s Furniture offers an expansive selection of wood and upholstered furniture, with many room layouts conveniently on display for customers to see and envision inside their own homes. From refined dining sets and comfortable sofas to tailored bedroom suites and versatile office furniture, each piece is chosen to balance selection and craftsmanship with attainable pricing. Styles range from rustic charm to contemporary elegance, ensuring there is something to complement every home’s unique character.

Design consultants are on hand to guide guests through the showroom, offering personalized recommendations and helping each client bring their vision to life. “No frills” pricing guarantees the best value for every customer, while quick delivery turns inspiration into reality without delay.

Beyond their extensive inventory, Simply Home embodies the Hudson family’s belief that furniture is more than just a purchase, it is an investment in how we live. Whether furnishing a first home, refreshing a cherished space, or searching for a one-of-a-kind clearance item, visitors are met with the same care and attention that has sustained the Hudson family name for over a century.

We invite you to experience the Simply Home difference for yourself and discover a place where heritage, value, and knowledge come together to create a truly rewarding experience, just like arriving at the home of an old friend.

L & L CATERING AND BISTRO

Founded in 1986, by Lana Lynch and Lorin Holland, L & L Catering was created on the basic, yet meaningful principle of delivering excellent food and service to its customers. That principle has been its guiding standard now for nearly 40 years.

In 2022, Lorin decided to semiretire and sell the business. Through a mutual connection, the opportunity became available for Heidi and Matt Helms - longtime residents of Catawba County - to purchase it. At the time, Heidi and Matt were already two-year owners of a successful and well-known wedding and event planning business in Hickory that they opened in 2020. The once catering only business then seamlessly transformed into a fullservice catering, wedding, and event focused company offering wedding coordination, timeline planning, and event related services such as table sets, décor, flowers, DJ/live music, and officiant services.

Heidi brings a combined 30 years of restaurant, catering, and management experience to L & L, formerly working alongside colleagues at Texas Longhorn, Ruby Tuesdays, and her most tenured position at Boxcar Grille in Claremont, NC. Those who have worked with Heidi (including her biggest advocate Matt) all say that her work ethic and commitment to her craft are second to none.

sports cards, signed baseballs and helmets, and pop culture memorabilia. Heidi says that Matt is the kind of person that never meets a stranger and to his core, loves building meaningful relationships within the community.

In nearly four years of ownership, L & L Catering has had the privilege of serving food to national and state dignitaries, including Tim Tebow, Kirk Cameron, Sadie Robertson, Mugsy Bogues (Charlotte Hornets), and several UNC Chapel Hill college basketball players. They’ve also provided food for both local political parties, including an event with then NC Governor Elect Josh Stein.

Matt has worked in sales for over 30 years in various industries and positions. He spent 11 years at Robinson Builders Mart, a local building supply store, helping customers find their building materials. He also managed the local truck rental office at Ryder Logistics. And before starting their wedding and event planning business, he served nearly 7 years in Christian radio at Joy FM in Winston Salem. Matt most recently opened up Hickory Cards and Collectibles, which is currently also located at the Mart, just below the bistro inside The Graceful Geese Mercantile. His inventory includes

In November of 2025, L&L Catering and Bistro purchased Of Great Taste Bistro, the former bistro located inside Hickory Furniture Mart. Matt and Heidi are excited to not only grow their business, but also expand by opening a physical bistro location where Mart customers and members of the community are able to come together to enjoy good food and great conversations.

L & L Catering and Bistro will serve as a hub for L & L’s main catering operations. NORTH CAROLINA CUSTOM FURNITURE MANUFACTURING PROCESSES

North Carolina is well-known around the world for its quality craftsmanship and custom manufacturing processes that make furniture production so unique to our state and our region. Below are some of the most commonly requested custom manufacturing processes and specialty finishes offered by our incredibly talented and skilled North Carolina craftsmen and manufacturers.

Button Tufting

Experienced craftsmen create indentions at regular intervals across the top of the cushion by passing a long needle and thread through to the back side of the furniture’s frame. The thread is then pulled taut and tied so that the hand applied buttons remain firmly in place.

Eight-Way Hand-Tied

This construction technique has been passed down through generations of North Carolina craftsmen and is an art which takes a lot of time and patience. Steel bands are stretched underneath strips of webbing and are double nailed to the

frame. This eliminates the possibility of future sagging. Double cone coil springs are securely nailed to the hardwood frame and then skilled craftsmen tie these springs by hand in eight different directions, from side to side, front to back, and diagonally, which provides outstanding firm support and long-lasting comfort. Truly a North Carolina quality process requested by customers around the world.

Embroidery

Embroidery is another popular custom process offered by many local North Carolina manufacturers. Almost any logo or design is able to be embroidered on premium leather. The design is first digitized by computer and then replicated with stitching on the leather. Embroidery adds a unique touch to any piece of furniture, making it one-of-a-kind.

Gold Brushing

One finish technique of particular beauty is gold brushing. Through this process, a skilled artisan uses a sealer and a fine gold dust finish material to hand brush on gold highlights to specific areas of furniture that the customer has requested.

Hand Cutting Fabric and Leather

Cutting fabric and leather upholstery is an art form that takes years of experience and a skilled eye for extreme detail. Every piece of furniture calls for a unique cutting pattern and every fabric and leather have their own special qualities that require a talented cutter to thoughtfully combine the two and create a matched piece. Cutting fabrics, stripes, plaids, florals, and plains must all be handled differently. When cutting leathers, an experienced craftsman needs to identify and remove any cow branding or defects in the grain.

Hand Forging

Steel furniture may be shaped using either a power hammer or bent using a custom jig. In order for this to occur, the steel needs to be heated in a forge to approximately 1200 degrees, at which point the steel is soft enough to be shaped. Blacksmiths train for months to acquire the skills needed to master this specialized technique.

Hand Lacing

Hand lacing is a custom decorative trim option that is often created through a time-

consuming process. The leather that receives the decorative trim is laid out, and the slits for the lacing are measured for synchronization and then cut. Lace or thread is then woven by hand, in and out of the openings on the cover, making it a work of art.

Handmade Wood Frames & Products

Every day talented North Carolina craftsmen build oneof-a-kind custom wood frames and products to order. Each piece is made one at a time, crafted individually by hand, in the right size, veneer, finish, and design, with the ultimate goal to create a quality piece of durable furniture that will last a lifetime.

Hand Painting on Leather or Wood

Creative artists start this process by either lightly buffing the leather or sanding the wood, then the artist paints the chosen design completely by hand. After the paint is applied to the piece of furniture, the leather or wood is then treated to protect the painting, which ensures the longevity of the artwork. Hand painting may be applied to almost any furniture surface. Hand painting on leather is commonly placed on the front, back, side of the arm or even on the cushion of a chair or sofa, while hand painting on wood is often applied to bedroom headboards, chests, mirrors, or other statement pieces.

Nailhead Trim

A type of quality finish where decorative nails of assorted sizes, finishes, and designs are applied directly onto furniture using high powered nail guns and then refined by human hands for completion. Nailheads not only secure fabric and trim in place, but they also help to finish edges and cover tacks and seams in upholstered pieces. Nailhead trim is applied only by highly skilled craftsmen who have studied and learned this technique through years of experience. They are extremely precise in this process.

Silver Leafing

The process of silver leafing begins with a smoothly sanded, prepped wooden surface. Silver enamel is then applied by spraying it on in an even wet coat. After the enamel is dried and hand-sanded, a thin layer of glue that is specifically designed for leafing is rolled onto it. Trained decorators then hand apply each square in an even uniformed pattern across this freshly glued surface. Two applications of sealer are then sprayed across the entire surface and a glaze (a pigmented material) is sprayed on and wiped off leaving a soft, rich color to the leaf. A sealer clear coat is then sprayed onto the glazed surface following a clear

coat lacquer, giving it a more finished and smoother glossy surface. Soft sanding may be used as a last step if needed.

Upholstery

A highly skilled craft that involves padding and covering seats, chairs and sofas with fabric or leather or a combination of both. Each piece of custom upholstery is bench-made by hand by a team of experts specializing in their area of expertise. Frames are built to order, and fabric patterns are cut by hand one at a time in such a way that allows the patterns to meticulously flow and match perfectly throughout the entire piece. This is another North Carolina quality process that is widely requested around the world.

Welting

A welt cord is simply a fabric covered cord that follows the seam of a chair cushion, sofa cushion, or pillows. A welt cord helps give upholstery a more finished and tailored look. The two types of welt cords most commonly used are a self-welt and a contrasting welt. Contrasting welt cords often are an effortless way to add style pop to any upholstery piece.

OUTLETS OFFER IMMEDIATE AVAILABILITY

Hickory Furniture Mart has been well-known for years as one of North Carolina’s most trusted furniture and design resources. The Mart offers a unique mix of first-line showrooms (where custom furniture is ordered), private galleries (special sections devoted to specific manufacturers), outlets (where discounted product is offered immediately “as is” off the showroom floor) and factory-direct outlets (where special product is brought in directly from the manufacturers’ factories and sold immediately off the floor “as is”).

Typical outlet savings range from 65-80% off normal retail prices. Most outlet product consists of retail showroom samples, overruns, closeouts, one-of-a-kind High Point Market samples and custom orders that have been canceled. New outlet product arrives direct from factories weekly so outlet inventories are constantly changing. If you find something you seriously want in an outlet, do not wait to buy it since most outlets are not able to hold product for you and sales are made on a first-come, first-served basis.

Once an item is purchased in an outlet, it is not likely that the same exact piece will show up in their inventory again. Most customers enjoy mixing and matching outlet

items with custom product. The savings found on a piece of furniture inside an outlet will allow you to invest a little more in that custom fabric you want to place on another piece of furniture from a first-line showroom.

If you find out at the last minute that you will be entertaining family and need to finish furnishing that spare room, an outlet is the perfect place to pick up additional items quickly. Outlets are also invaluable to customers who have experienced a natural disaster. Unfortunately victims of natural disasters often find themselves in need of furniture immediately and most of their local resources are typically out of stock or backlogged with so much unexpected demand coming in at the same time. Our outlets and retail showrooms will work together to offer additional discounts and request expedited delivery options for entire communities affected by these types of natural disasters. Outlet product is also great for rental properties or second homes as you are able to furnish more rooms with quality furniture for much less.

Stop by and visit all of the outlets inside Hickory Furniture Mart and take advantage of the tremendous selection and savings available throughout the entire year.

THE GRACEFUL GEESE MERCANTILE

Born from the dream of local entrepreneurs Angie and Ray McGinnis, The Graceful Geese Mercantile is a celebration of artistry and creativity. What began as a passion for collecting antiques and vintage items, unexpectedly became a larger platform to share local talent and foster a sense of community and creativity among artisans and customers alike.

The Graceful Geese offers unique antiques, gifts and souvenirs currently representing over 167 local North Carolina artists, artisans, authors, and furniture craftsmen and growing. There is also a dedicated space available for hosting local events and special gatherings. And they recently added

a new lineup of “make and take” workshops. These workshops are led by visiting artisans and encourage participants to unleash their own artistic potential while discovering a new hobby along the way. For Angie and Ray, their gallery is not just about selling gifts and antiques, it is a commitment to building meaningful connections between local artisans and Mart customers and local residents within our community.

If you are interested in renting a booth inside their store, or have any questions about any current artisan displays or specific booth items, please reach out to them at 828-838-1011 or thegracefulgeese@gmail.com.

LION’S DEN INTERIORS

For Kim Johnston, owner and founder of Lion’s Den Interiors, furniture heritage runs deep in her veins. Raised around the Ethan Allen factory floor where her father worked long hours, Kim grew up surrounded by the scent of fresh wood and the hum of true craftsmanship. Kim remembers watching the factory workers with curiosity while furniture was being upholstered and wood was being finished all around her. Her mother, Barbara, passed down her love of fine furniture and a fondness for lion statues – an influence that lives on in both the name and spirit of the store today.

When Kim opened Lion’s Den Interiors in 1998, she dedicated the business to her mother’s loving memory and built it around those core values that shaped her; quality, tradition, and an unwavering eye for elegant unique pieces. Today, those same values remain at the heart of her showroom. Kim’s signature touch is evident in every corner, from the Baccarat crystal chandeliers to the burled wood secretary desks and petite leather-topped cocktail tables.

Specializing in traditional furnishings, solid mahogany casegoods, and one-of-a-kind antiques, Lion’s Den Interiors is a destination for those who are drawn to high-end, heirloom quality designs. The gallery features sophisticated inlaid tables, distinctive sideboards, hand-carved beds, and bronze-accented lighting – many of which are sourced directly from high-end market floor samples or small-lot manufacturer offerings no longer in

production. Customers will find premium name brand one-of-a-kind pieces not found anywhere else, with new items arriving weekly. No two visits are ever the same so stop by often to see what Kim may have in store for you.

We have beautiful, one-of-a-kind accessories and special inlaid and solid wood furniture by top-quality manufacturers. All items sold off the floor and immediately available for pick-up or future delivery.

CONSOLIDATED SHIPPING

We realize that you may have traveled hundreds, even thousands of miles to make your furniture purchases with us. We want to make sure that your furniture arrives safely to your final destination. Showrooms inside the Mart will work with our delivery partners to ensure that your merchandise is transported safely and professionally to your home after you leave.

Shipping charges are separate from your furniture purchases. Showrooms will provide you with an estimate of your shipping charges before you leave the building, and the delivery company will confirm the exact shipping charges after they pick up your furniture from each showroom and weigh your order at their warehouse. Shipping charges are calculated by the total weight of your complete order and the zip code where your order is being shipped. There is no additional consolidation concierge fee charged if you receive multiple furniture shipments as your furniture arrives from each individual showroom. If you would like the delivery company to hold all your furniture purchases from each individual showroom and consolidate your entire order into one single delivery, there will be a $99 consolidation concierge fee collected for this service, which covers tracking, picking-up your furniture from multiple showrooms, 30-day warehouse storage, and delivery communication between the customer and the showrooms where you made your purchases from inside the building.

If you wish to consolidate your purchases into one delivery, you will just need to place all your orders in the same name and fill out the “Request for Consolidation of Merchandise” form located at every Guest Services desk or inside each showroom. Please turn in your consolidated shipping form to the last showroom where you made a

purchase, even if you do not want your furniture shipped right away.

Estimated delivery times below start AFTER all account balances have been paid in full to all showrooms and AFTER all furniture has been released by every showroom and picked up by

the assigned delivery company. Please understand that furniture production times and shipping timeframes have been experiencing longer delays due to limited staffing and drivers. Estimated timeframes: Southeast: 2-3 weeks • East Coast: 2-4 weeks • Midwest: 4-6 weeks • West Coast: 6-9 weeks (Due to a recent shortage of residential furniture delivery companies servicing the west coast, our showrooms currently have limited west coast delivery options available. Please discuss all available shipping options with each showroom.)

Olivia Streeton, Owner of Arcadia Home Delivery

You will be notified at least 48 hours before your delivery is scheduled. When called, please confirm your ship-to address, and also confirm that the shipment includes all of the furniture you purchased from each showroom. At that time, please notify the delivery company of any unusual circumstances that may affect your delivery (low hanging trees, steep or

narrow driveways, security codes, gate approvals or limited access hours). Please also clear out space in your home so that the delivery company may unload and carry your furniture into each room without encountering any obstacles.

When the delivery company calls you to schedule your delivery date,

they will provide you with your total shipping cost and will let you know which forms of payment are accepted. Approved forms of advanced payment include credit card payments, while same day payments should be made with a certified money order. Payment is required prior to the delivery crew unloading any of your merchandise. Please carefully inspect each piece of furniture as it is unwrapped and brought into your home the same day. CRAFTING HICKORY

The Hickory Trail and the renovated downtown are just a few Crafting Hickory projects that are transforming the Hickory region. Spanning 10 miles across the city, the Hickory Trail connects popular destinations and amenities, while providing bicycle and pedestrian safe pathways throughout the city. The Trail accentuates the city’s culture of providing an atmosphere for dynamic growth and robust development and is a major asset in the community’s effort to craft a strong economy, provide good jobs, and create a desirable quality of life for its residents.

The Hickory Trail includes a City Walk from Lenoir-Rhyne University through the city’s renovated downtown area to Old Lenoir Road. It continues with the Historic Ridgeview Walk through the Ridgeview

community, highlighting its history, then extends with an OLLE Art Walk through a reinvigorated arts district on Old Lenoir Road, and a Riverwalk,

featuring a walking bridge over Lake Hickory and elevated trails through the woods that border the lake. The last leg of the trail is the Aviation Walk

that offers easy access across U.S. 321 with a new Hickory pedestrian bridge to L.P. Frans Stadium, with the trail ending at Hickory Regional Airport.

Additionally, the city has modernized aesthetics and enhanced its downtown center with a distinguished promenade

highlighting Union Square storefronts and a central pathway bisecting two large lawn areas. Open air seating areas, along with enhanced lighting for evening strolls, new directional signage, an entrance archway, and complimentary Wi-Fi, provided by CommScope. The complete renovation project also included new public restrooms and a multi-purpose shade structure. The central stage for musical and artistic performances taking place under the popular Sails on the Square still remains intact.
