Tara Board of Directors

I’d like to take a moment to recap our Annual Members Meeting held on April 13 and share a few highlights with the community.

First, thank you to Deb King for volunteering to co-chair and moderate the meeting. We had informative presentations on the state of the club, followed by thoughtful questions and discussion from our owners. I’d also like to thank Mike Rohrkemper, Alan Hiatt, David Taylor, and Morgan Buechner for sharing helpful insight on what we can expect moving forward.

Following the presentations, the election results were announced. Congratulations to Kevin Maloney on being elected to the Board. I’d also like to thank the Tara community for your support in my re-election, it is truly appreciated. In addition, thank you to Debbie Magers and John Bourjaily for running and devoting their time to the Tara community.

The Board organizational meeting was held on April 13, the officers for 2026/2027 are as follows:

A Season of Transition and Opportunity

As May arrives, we find ourselves at one of the most unique and meaningful times of the year here at Tara—a season defined by both gratitude and anticipation.

To our seasonal members heading north, we offer a heartfelt farewell. Thank you for the energy, camaraderie, and spirit you bring to the Club each season. Tara simply isn’t the same without you, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the fall.

At the same time, we extend a warm welcome to our Summer Members. We’re thrilled to have you with us and hope you quickly feel at home. Summer at Tara offers a different pace—but one filled with opportunity, connection, and plenty of fun.

While this time of year does bring a bit of relief for our hardworking staff after a busy season, our commitment to delivering a vibrant club experience does not slow down. In fact, more than 60% of our membership calls Tara home year-round, and our focus remains on creating a full calendar of events and dining experiences throughout the summer months—very much in line with the energy you’ve come to expect during peak season.

Of course, summer also brings with it important maintenance and strategic opportunities. You’ll notice scheduled aerification closures on the golf course, as well as an increase in outside events. These are essential to both the long-term health of our course and the financial strength of our Club. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during these brief interruptions, knowing they play a key role in enhancing the Tara experience for all.

As we look ahead, there is a sense of excitement about what this summer will bring—great golf, lively events, and the chance to enjoy the Club in a more relaxed and personal way. Here’s to a fantastic summer at Tara.

Enhancing Your Member Experience with Photos &

Digital Access

A current profile photo plays an important role in helping our staff deliver a more personalized and efficient experience. We encourage all members to upload a recent photo to their member profile page on the member website.

In addition, your digital membership card is now available in the app at the bottom right click Menu → Membership Card (on bottom) . Your uploaded photo will appear on your Phone as your membership card. This photo is also integrated into our point-of-sale system, allowing our team to quickly recognize you and ensure accurate service during your visits. This membership card can be utilized for reciprocals over the summer.

These enhancements are all designed with you in mind helping us communicate more effectively, serve you more efficiently, and create a more connected community. Please take a moment to log in, review your profile, and make any necessary updates.

Welcome to spring! We have a full calendar of maintenance and outdoor golf events scheduled. Reminder that each and every Monday afternoon will be closed for maintenance. These cultural practices are necessary to keep the course in its current shape all year long.

Spring weather often brings challenges for golf course operations and setup. Overnight rain, heavy morning dew, and occasional storms can significantly impact course preparations.

Wondering about the current course conditions? It’s easy! Just call 941758-7961 and press 5 when prompted. This line is updated daily by 7:00 AM. Knowing what to expect before you arrive can enhance your overall experience. Enjoy your day!

PM Golfers: Please remember to check in at the golf shop before heading out to play. It’s important to note that there are plenty of eyes on the course, and sneaking out for a quick round isn’t allowed. Additionally, some players may be participating in leagues or special events while you’re on the course. To avoid any confusion, please give the golf shop a call before you tee off.

Reciprocal Play: Reciprocal lists are exclusively available for Class A members and AIM members. These lists can be obtained in the pro shop or accessed online in a printable format. As a representative of Tara, it is imperative that you familiarize yourself with their essential rules and regulations. All necessary information can be found on the list, so please ensure that you update your application with your photograph in order to utilize your membership card. If you require assistance updating your application, please do not hesitate to seek guidance.

Evapotranspiration

Evapotranspiration is the net loss of water caused by the combined effects of atmospheric conditions. The Evapotranspiration rate is a very important tool for precision irrigation practices because it is the calculation of air temperature, solar radiation, wind speed, humidity, barometric pressure and dew point for a 24 hour period. With the renovation of the irrigation system, a weather station was also installed to be able to calculate the Evapotranspiration rate that is specific to our golf course. This information is recorded every hour and then sent to the central irrigation computer where the values are then calculated to get the Evapotranspiration rate for that 24 hour period to irrigate only what the turf needs. The benefits of using evapotranspiration in conjunction with the irrigation system are: water conservation, improves quality and health of the turf, reduces compaction and weed population and provides a deeper root system.

The weather station is a very good tool to provide the Evapotranspiration rate to properly irrigate the golf course. However, daily monitoring of the golf course is still the best because of the constant change in conditions. The golf course will be closed May 4th – 6th for the first aerification of the year.

Dear Members,

As we transition into the beautiful spring and summer months, we’d like to take a moment to wish all of our members returning to their summer homes a fun, relaxing, and memorable season ahead. We hope you enjoy settling back in, the warmer weather and, longer days.

We also want to extend a sincere thank you for your patience throughout our recent construction process. Your understanding has meant a great deal to us, and we’re excited to share that we are looking forward to welcoming you into the new Grill Room later this year—it will be well worth the wait.

A small friendly reminder: if you happen to leave the club with one of our glasses, we kindly ask that you return the glass on your next visit. No worries at all—we know it happens from time to time!

As we begin to taper out of peak season, we still recommend making reservations sooner than you might expect, especially for Wednesdays and Fridays, as space remains limited.

Thank you again for your continued support and for being such an important part of our community. If you ever have any questions, concerns, or feedback, please don’t hesitate to reach out—I’m always happy to hear from you.

This season has truly been one for the books, with so much for our members to enjoy and look forward to. Even as we began our refresh project, it never took away from the vibrant energy and full calendar of events at the Club. And while the season may be slowing down, there is still plenty ahead to get excited about.

May 2 – Derby de Mayo

A festive fusion of the Kentucky Derby and Cinco de Mayo, this event promises an unforgettable evening. Enjoy live betting, entertainment, a Cinco de Mayo–inspired buffet, and themed cocktails. Don your best hat and join us to watch the most exciting two minutes of sports! There will be prizes awarded for Best Hat and Best Dressed.

May 8 – Garden Blooms for Mother’s Day Flower Workshop

Back by popular demand! After the stunning centerpieces created for our Easter Brunch, we’re thrilled to host another floral workshop. Members will have the opportunity to design beautiful bouquets to be featured at our Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday, May 10.

May 15 – Bourbon & Barrels

Bourbon lovers, this one’s for you. Join us for an afternoon tasting featuring five carefully selected bourbons, each offering its own distinct flavor profile.

May 25 – Memorial Day

We’ll be honoring the holiday with our Memorial Day tournament, followed by a festive buffet. It’s the perfect way to spend the day with fellow members.

May 30 – Retro Popsicle Pool Party

Let’s kick off summer in style at the Clubhouse Pool! Enjoy a laid-back afternoon with a BBQ buffet, an adult popsicle bar, cornhole, live music, and more.

As we ease into the quieter summer season, we have a handful of events planned and hope those staying with us will find plenty to enjoy.

Dear Tara Residents,

As the busy season winds down and summer approaches, year-round residents can look forward to a quieter, more relaxed pace across our community.

Please keep an eye on your email for important updates from Resource Property Management (RPM), our new management company, effective May 1st. Your participation is essential—RPM requires all homeowners to log into their new portal and update bank information for future billing.

By the time you receive this newsletter, you should have already received three letters from RPM: a Welcome Letter, your Vantaca portal login details, and a Reminder Letter. We greatly appreciate your prompt attention to these instructions and your cooperation during this transition.

The Board will continue to share updates regarding the new Echo Extended Stay Hotel, planned for the corner of Stone River Road and Tara Blvd.

As May begins, we’re pleased to share that the Spring landscape refreshment along Tara Blvd is now complete! As the flowers continue to grow, the flowerbeds will fill in and look very colorful.

This refreshment included several improvements designed to elevate the beauty and overall appearance of our neighborhood. You’ll notice the tree-lined medians, creating a more welcoming and cohesive look. We’ve also added a variety of seasonal flowers to bring vibrant pops of color to the ends of the medians, along with fresh mulch to give all planting beds a clean, polished finish.

As part of this project, we also replaced 60 aged viburnum plants along the east side of Tara Blvd. These new plantings will continue to grow in and provide a healthy hedge for years to come.

We hope you’re pleased with the outcome and the renewed look of our community. For residents who have already departed for the Summer, we’ve included photos so you can enjoy the improvements from afar.

Clubhouse Refresh Update

The Clubhouse Refresh has begun. Demolition has started in both the patio and the dining room. Yes, there is going to be some inconvenience experienced at the club for the next several months. However, the clubhouse will never be closed, and Tara Management and team will continue to offer the food and beverage service to our members. Please be patient as we make Tara a better place for all members. Thanks to Missy for sending out the video updates on the construction progress weekly.

Tickets will be sold on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. They are $2.00 CASH ONLY. The drawings are every Thursday in the Grille Room at 6pm. Watch for the email flyer with rules and additional information coming out. Congrats to our many winners so far, Teresa Johnson, Tom Orchard, Nora Lissy, Ray Hupp Sharon Viner, Jeff Hazey, Mike Rohrkemper, and Mickey Wysochanski . The jackpot continues to grow. As a friend has told me-“Can’t win if you are not In.” Happy Hour drink prices on Thursday for the drawing and dinner service. The jackpot continues to grow with a portion of the monies going to the club’s capital project fund.

Food & Beverage

Please make reservations so our members can enjoy a great experience at Tara. We have many events coming up in April, May, and June so make your reservations in advance. Please remember that we have new staff members, and they will need to ask you for your member number. Especially with the renovation started. If you see a name on a table for a reservation, please do not take the name off and take the table.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Tara community, Tara management, & the Tara board of directors for their support to the house committee and myself to get the many projects completed. I would also like to wish the incoming house chairwoman, Kim Randolph, great success in her new role.

End of Season Pickleball Fun Fest Wrap-Up: Saturday March 28, 2026

What a fantastic way to close out the year! Our End-of-the Season Pickleball Fun Event brought together players of all levels for a fun filled late afternoon/evening event with laughter, friendly competition, yummy food and drinks and plenty of memorable moments on the court.

Participants enjoyed a lively mix of round-robin games, and there were many impressive rallies, the energy was high and the smiles were nonstop. It wasn’t just about winning—it was about celebrating the sport we all love and the great community we’ve built together.

We also want to extend a big thank you to everyone who helped organize, participate, and cheer on fellow players. Your enthusiasm and support are what make events like this so special.

As we look ahead to the new year, we’re excited for more opportunities to play, improve, and connect. Until then, keep your paddles ready and your spirits high—we’ll see you on the courts soon!
