It has been unusually cold for this time of year in Florida, but that has not effected the spirit of our Membership. Participation in golfing events, pickle ball, and social events remains high. A recent Motown Show sold out so quickly, we had to add a second show, which was also a sellout. Upcoming events will include a Town Hall Meeting with our new Management Firm, Hampton Golf. This will take place on March 7th from 5 - 7PM. More information will be available on the website shortly.
The April 1st Members Meeting is rapidly approaching. This is the annual meeting where the election results for new directors are announced and any other items that were voted on by the Members. The ballots should be in the mail.
There are two openings on the Board and four candidates for these two spots. The candidates are David Whitehead (current Vice-President of the Board); Cindy Ferguson (Board Director); Sally Shuford and Randy Watson. They will all be preparing a resume of their backgrounds, qualifications, and vision for Tara’s future in the soon to be mailed proxy vote package. We are also holding a Meet the Candidate night on March 11 from 3 - 5PM. The meeting will be held at the Clubhouse and on Zoom.
In addition to the Director vote, the package will have a proxy included on the approval for the pickle ball courts, bathrooms and pavilion to be constructed on the rezoned vacant lot. The importance of the Tara Club having their own courts is paramount to the continuing growth and modernization of our community.
Recently, a son of a Member at Tara called me to inquire about a car service for the elderly. This is to be primarily for those individuals not capable of driving themselves to the Club. We are asking for volunteers willing to drive those few folks who could really benefit from this type of service. If you wish to volunteer your time for this valuable service for our nondrivers, please contact me at anytime at: j-bikerdude@comcast.net.

2024 is off to an enjoyable start!
The Clubhouse has been the place for delicious food, wonderful music, and good times with family and friends. The Soul Sensations Motown event was more popular than a Taylor Swift concert and we had to add a second night to accommodate all the Members that wanted to see the show! March promises to be another month fi lled throughout with great experiences, including Tara’s famous Easter Brunch at the end of the month, which is also open to the public.
With so many fun and exciting events happening at the Club, we encourage Members to use the website to make their reservations. At the same time, we are working hard to improve Tara’s technology to make it easier than ever to navigate.
Members have asked about the transition to the management of the Club by Hampton Golf and Justin Kuehn has stated he feels the transtion has been exceptional thus far. The 45 days of pre-work, which began prior to the February 1st start date, has bene fi ted many of the systems, processes, and employee matters that are crucial to the transition process. Action items are ahead of schedule with a forecasted budget planned for board discussions at the end of February. Team Member training started in February with Hampton Golf’s tidbits web-based training program. Most of the transitional actions were behind the scenes in February although there will be more Member-facing improvements taking shape as we move forward.
Lastly, I want to encourage our Members to stay involved. This is your Club, and your voice matters. Please vote in the upcoming board election and ballot proposal.

It is the time of the year when the Golf Course is busy from sunrise to sunset. Cart traffic is one of the toughest challenges the Golf Course faces this time of year. Golf cart traffic patterns start to appear because of the carts going over the same area. The wear and tear of golf cart traffic can cause unsightly and expensive damage to the Golf Course. Tire ruts in soft, wet areas can take weeks to heal. Compaction caused by heavy traffic can cause tight lies. The Members can help prevent damage by following the Course’s standard golf cart policy and obeying temporary restrictions caused by weather, construction or other factors. The following are a general list of tips that if followed, will greatly help in keeping our Golf Course in top playing condition.
• Pay attention to any ropes, stakes or signs because they are signaling that the area should not be driven on.
• Never drive a golf cart through standing water in grass areas that appears overly wet.
• Never drive onto a green, collar, tee, par three holes or any marked hazard.
• Avoid abrupt stops and sharp turns that could cause skidding.
• Avoid driving over sprinkler heads, yardage markers and drain basins.
• Avoid pulling off the path near tees and greens.
• Keep all four tires on the path whenever possible and do not park with the tires off of the cart path.
• The Golf Course will be closed in the afternoon on March 5th for vericutting and topdressing, plus a wall to wall fertilization.

PICKLEBALL: THE HIGHLY SOCIAL SPORT
SOME OF THE REASONS WHY PICKLEBALL IS GOOD FOR OUR COMMUNITY:
Pickleball is a highly social sport that encourages interaction among players. Building a permanent Pickleball facility at Tara can foster a sense of camaraderie and community spirit, offering Residents a new and enjoyable way to connect with their neighbors.
The state of Florida boasts more golf courses than any other in the nation. Today many private golf clubs are adding pickleball courts as the sport’s popularity is skyrocketing. Over the last two years alone, the number of pickleball players in the U.S. has jumped by more than 39%, according to the Sports & Fitness Industry Association. Pickleball’s universal appeal unites players from Generation Z to Baby Boomers and everything in between.
While golf remains popular, it was actually the No. 2 participation sport in terms of growth at many country clubs, resorts and golf course communities.
The 2023 Sports & Fitness Industry Association’s (SFIA) Topline Participation Report announced that pickleball continued to be America’s fastest-growing sport for the third year in a row (out of 124 tracked).
Introducing permanent Pickleball at Tara reflects an understanding of contemporary trends. This adaptability ensures that Tara remains in tune with the changing interests and desires of its current Residents and it’s future Residents.
