TARA COMMUNITY NEWS

FROM

The Board of Directors met on January 13th and passed resolutions to move forward with the clubhouse refresh and remodel. The final contracts between Southern Cross and the Club Design Group have been executed, and work on the clubhouse is underway. The financing has been secured, and we have moved our banking business to PNC Bank. We will have two separate loans with PNC, one being the existing loan from 2008 with a balance of approximately 2.4 million dollars and a construction loan, which we will draw from as the project progresses. Both loans are projected to be paid off in December of 2032. Our general contractor has told us the project will take 9 months from start to finish, which should give us a completion date in November.

The 2025/2026 board and committee season is winding down; two board positions will open, both for three-year terms. If anyone is interested in volunteering for the board or committees, contact the Tara office for details.

The next regular Board meeting is scheduled for February 23rd, at 3:00pm.

TARA’S MISSION: To provide an exceptional private country club experience while maintaining the club’s reputation as a financially sound and highly valued community where members enjoy outstanding golf, vibrant amenities and social camaraderie.

TARA’S VISION: Tara Golf & Country Club will be the most desirable private club in the Sarasota/Bradenton area in terms of value, quality of its golf course, its wide range of amenities and its member-friendly culture.

TARA COMMUNITY NEWS

Tara Golf and Country Club Members,

February is a special time at Tara Golf & Country Club—a moment when we look not only to the beauty of our community today, but to the leadership and teamwork that will shape its tomorrow.

This month marks the beginning of our annual Board of Directors election process. We have two open Director positions , and I encourage any Member who feels called to serve to step forward. Strong communities are built when neighbors raise their hands and say, “I can help.” All Members who intend to run for one of these open Board seats must submit a short bio to me no later than February 20th at 5:00 PM so it may be included in the election materials.

At the same time, this is also the perfect season to get involved through our committee structure. Our committees are the heartbeat of Tara— bringing together ideas, energy, and diverse perspectives that make this club thrive. If you would like to serve on a committee, please stop by the administrative offices to sign up. Your voice matters. Your experience matters. And your contribution makes a difference.

February will also mark the official beginning of our long-anticipated Clubhouse Refresh Project . This is an exciting step forward for Tara and one that represents our shared investment in the future of our club. As with any project of this size, there will be moments of disruption. But please know that our staff and partners will do everything possible to minimize inconvenience and maintain the warm, welcoming experience you expect. We ask for your patience, your understanding, and your continued support as we transform vision into reality.

This is a season of progress. A season of participation. A season of renewal.

Together—through service, through patience, and through community— we continue building a Tara that honors its past and boldly embraces its future.

Thank you for being part of that journey.

Respectfully,

TARA COMMUNITY NEWS

We’re excited to share that TGCC is taking another step forward in embracing new technology with the launch of digital Membership cards on our mobile app!

You’ll now find your Membership card conveniently located under the “Menu → Membership” section of the app. As part of this new feature, we are asking Members to upload a favorite photo of themselves. This photo will register not only on your digital Membership card, but also within our point-of-sale system, allowing our wait staff to quickly match your photo with your Member number.

This enhancement will help improve service, accuracy, and overall efficiency while also allowing our team to better recognize and connect with you during your visits.

To make this transition as easy as possible, next week we will be offering in-person assistance. You are welcome to stop by, and Jill and I will be happy to take your photo and upload it for you. If you already have a photo you love, we’re also more than happy to help you upload that instead.

We look forward to offering this new feature and appreciate your support as we continue to enhance the Member experience here at TGCC. Thank you for being part of our community we’re excited about what’s ahead!

On the next page, you’ll find a current list of HOA Presidents and Property Management Companies, updated as of the end of December. With many new homeowners joining our community and questions frequently arise, this serves as a convenient reference for:

•HOA leadership contacts

•Property management companies and phone numbers

We encourage Members to keep this document handy for future reference.

MESSAGE FROM DON ABELL, COURSE

DIVOT REPAIR

A divot is a piece of turf that is taken from a tee or fairway when a golf club strikes a ball. With the amount of play that Tara Golf and Country Club gets the amount of divots adds up very quickly. An unrepaired divot could take up to three to four weeks to heal if not repaired properly. The proper way to repair a divot is to take a scoop of green sand and empty it into the divot. Then take the bottom of your foot and smooth out the pile of sand. Smoothing out the sand will do two things. First, Bermuda grass grows laterally and by smoothing out the divot the Bermuda grass has a better surface to grow into and the healing time will be reduced by half. Second, by smoothing out the surface, the golfer is using proper etiquette by providing a level surface for the players behind him. Everyone knows what it is like when their ball lands in an unfilled divot. It is a much tougher shot compared to hitting a ball from a level surface. Beginner or pro, it is your responsibility as a golfer to repair your own divots to make the game of golf fair for everyone. The game is difficult enough without having your ball lie in an unfilled divot. If you are a real steward of the game, take extra green sand with you and fill other unrepaired divots while you’re waiting for your next shot. Remember to take sand with you so you can fill your divots on the cartpath only holes.

ARC NEWS

Manatee County officials are imposing water restrictions that will be in place until July after a severe water shortage was announced.

The Southwest Florida Water Management District has declared a “modified Phase II ‘severe’ water shortage” due to ongoing dry conditions across the region.

All residents in Manatee County, including those using private wells, will be required to follow one-day-per-week outdoor watering restrictions beginning Feb. 8 through July 1, the county said in a news release Wednesday.

The declaration applies to all of Citrus, DeSoto, Hardee, Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota, and Sumter counties; portions of Charlotte, Highlands, and Lake counties; the City of Dunnellon and The Villages in Marion County; and the portion of Gasparilla Island in Lee County.

Major beach restoration project launches Tuesday at Lido Beach

The district reported below-average rainfall last year and a current regional rainfall deficit of approximately 13 inches compared to the 12-month average.

Water levels in aquifers, rivers, lakes and regional public water supplies continue to decline and are below normal for this time of year.

Sarasota County has had similar water restrictions in place since 2023, according to the county’s website

In Manatee County, the standard one-day-per-week schedule is based on street address:

• Addresses ending in 0 or 1: Monday

• Addresses ending in 2 or 3: Tuesday

• Addresses ending in 4 or 5: Wednesday

• Addresses ending in 6 or 7: Thursday

• Addresses ending in 8 or 9, and locations without a discernible address: Friday

Unless stricter local hours are in effect:

• Properties under two acres may water only before 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m.

• Properties two acres or larger may water only before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m.

• Low-volume irrigation (micro-irrigation, soaker hoses, and hand watering) is allowed any day and time.

Additional provisions of the order include:

• Homeowners associations and similar entities may not require increased water use for landscape appearance, plant replacement, or pressure washing.

• Residential car washing is allowed only on the assigned watering day.

• Aesthetic fountains are limited to eight hours of operation per day.

• Pressure washing is allowed once per year or when preparing surfaces for painting or sealing.

Manatee County Utilities will enforce the water restrictions. The following penalty structure will apply:

• First violation – Warning

• Second violation – $100 fine

• Third violation – $250 fine

• Fourth and subsequent violations – $500 fine

The order also directs local utilities to report enforcement activity to the Southwest Florida Water Management District and continue coordination with regional water supply partners, including Tampa Bay Water and the Peace River Manasota Regional Water Supply Authority.

DID YOU KNOW FROM THE COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

DID YOU KNOW THERE’S A NEW WAY FOR MEMBERS TO BUY & SELL OR LEND & BORROW ITEMS DIRECTLY BETWEEN THEMSELVES?

Many TGCC and Tara Preserve Members have specific items that they would like to sell and often other Members may be interested in buying those exact items. These items could be furniture, household or decor items, sports related items like racquets, golf clubs or carts, pool related items, etc. This is where the Residents of Tara Community Facebook page can help Members list, find and even request certain items they are looking to purchase or sell. Just list your items for sale, photos can be helpful or post a request for something you are looking to buy. Contact, price and pickup are arranged directly through the buyer and seller. We refer to this new endeavor as Tara BUY & SELL which offers all TGCC and Tara Preserve Members the opportunity to engage with each other neighbor-to-neighbor in offering and purchasing specific items.

TGCC also had a previous program called Care & Share where TGCC Members could list items that they were willing to temporarily loan to other TGCC Members. Popular items were medical equipment like crutches, walkers, shower seats or wheelchairs and children’s items like portable cribs, strollers, high chairs or booster seats. Since some of the major contributors have moved, we are looking to revitalize the program by adding this capability for both TGCC and Tara Preserve Members to loan out or request to borrow specific items to the same Residents of Tara Community Facebook page. If you have an item, you are willing to loan out, please feel free to share a listing on this page. If you need to temporarily borrow something you could request it here, as well. Other popular items might be guest related items like inflatable beds, folding chairs and tables.

As the Residents of Tara Community Facebook page includes all of TGCC and Tara Preserve , this increases the number of Members who can benefit from these programs while also increasing overall Member engagement. Remember, the Facebook page acts as the facilitation tool to initiate the Member interaction, all contact, negotiation, pickup and return activities are made directly between the individuals who are lending or borrowing. We hope more Members will take advantage of these new opportunities to easily exchange items between them.

GOLF COMMITTEE

Golf rounds are up nicely November Year 2025 - 4,221

Year to Date - 40,211

December Year 2025 - 3,630

Total year 2025 - 43,841

The Committee recommends that 4 and 6 seater golf carts would not be allowed on the golf course. This is due to the fact these carts weigh more and many times have a different tire configuration that could cause damage to our new grass investment as the new grass is still rooting.

On an operational note: please drive carefully around the driving range, the putting green and the cart barn. During high season we have a lot of folks walking in those areas and we don’t want to see any mishaps.

Golf course etiquette: Please fill divots, please rake traps, please fix ball marks on the greens and please watch your pace of play. If everyone does these things our rounds of golf will be even more enjoyable. We have a truly beautiful place to call home, let’s help keep it that way.

Tara will be sponsoring the LECOM qualifier again this year. It was a tremendous success last year, and one of the reasons is we had a fantastic group of volunteers.

This is our call out for those who would like to volunteer again this year or if you want to be a first timer that’s okay too.

The tournament will be on March 30. We will need morning and afternoon shifts. There will be a sign-up sheets at the February Board meeting.

Golf Committee also recommends to the Board that golf carts are to be parked at the assigned spaces near the driving range. No golf carts to be parked in the car parking lot.

Tara Club Championships: 2/21-22; Couples Championships 3/14-15.

Another volunteer opportunity is the Senior PGA to be held at Concessions CC April 16-19, 2026. A flyer has been sent out.

Looking into adding more walking availability to junior golfers, as well as Members who like to walk. Details will be coming out soon.

Rain checks are good for 30 days. If 4 holes are played the rain check is for 9 holes. If 13 holes are played, no rain check. All rain checks expire on October 31.

Golf Committee has recommended 35 AIM Memberships next season.

Guest that play more than 1 round on the same day are charged only for the cart on their second round.

HOUSE COMMITTEE - FROM OUR HOUSE TO YOURS

SOCIAL COMMITTEE

MESSAGE FROM JODI SCHLETER

A Month Full of Heart at Tara February is a month full of heart at Tara as neighbors come together to enjoy great food, spirits, and meaningful moments. These shared experiences continue to strengthen our sense of community and connection.

Residents recently gathered for memorable evenings of live entertainment at Jukebox Classics Live and Tribute to the King (Elvis) . The energy, laughter, and shared moments made these events especially enjoyable and a wonderful example of Tara coming together.

We also enjoyed connecting with residents at the Volunteer Expo , where the Social Committee hosted a table sharing how we help bring events to life throughout the year. From live music and themed gatherings to seasonal celebrations and fundraisers, the Social Committee thrives because of volunteers who enjoy planning, decorating, supporting events, and building community. If you are interested in learning more or getting involved in the future, we would love to hear from you. Reach out to a Social Committee member anytime or watch for upcoming opportunities to join in.

Looking ahead, we are excited to welcome back the Organization Guru for a Sip and Learn on February 18 . This engaging session offers practical ideas, fresh inspiration, and plenty of fun. Even if you already consider yourself organized, you are sure to leave with new tips, clever tricks, and a few “why didn’t I think of that” moments.

Thank you for being part of what makes Tara such a warm, welcoming place to call home.

Warmly,
