TARA COMMUNITY NEWS

MESSAGE FROM PHILLIP PARSH, PRESIDENT

As the winter season winds down, many of our friends and neighbors will soon be heading north for the summer. We wish everyone safe travels and look forward to welcoming you back next season.

April also marks the end of our board and committee year. There are currently two open board seats, with four candidates running for these positions. Please remember that your vote must be cast by 9AM on April 13, and votes will be counted at the Annual Members Meeting.

This is also a great time to get involved in the community. We are always looking for volunteers to serve on our nine committees. If you are interested, please stop by the Tara office to sign up. Our volunteers play a vital role in keeping Tara running smoothly.

On behalf of the entire Tara community, I would like to thank all our volunteers for their time and dedication during the 2025–2026 season. Your efforts truly make a difference.

I would also like to extend a special thank-you to Mike Rohrkemper, who has served on the Board of Directors for the past three years, including as Treasurer. Mike played an important role in securing funding for many of the recent improvements throughout our community, and we are very grateful for his service.

A reminder that the Annual Members Meeting will take place on Monday, April 13 at 9AM. This meeting will include an informative presentation on the current state of the club.

Thank you to all our owners for your patience, support, and pride in our community. Tara continues to be a special place because of the people who live here.

The next regular Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 27 at 3PM.

TARA COMMUNITY NEWS

Dear Members,

Spring has arrived at Tara, bringing with it a renewed sense of energy across the club—and nowhere is that energy more visible than at the clubhouse. Our refresh project continues to move forward nicely, and every week the progress becomes more tangible.

As with any renovation of a building with decades of history, we’ve encountered a few surprises along the way. During demolition, we discovered that some of the structural supports were not exactly where the original plans suggested they might be. One example was in the ladies’ restroom, where a concrete support in the ground required us to thoughtfully reconfigure the layout of the toilets. And perhaps my personal favorite discovery came when an interior wall was opened—revealing that there was once an exterior window hidden inside it. Moments like that remind us just how many stories this building holds.

The good news is that each of these curveballs has been addressed quickly and professionally by our construction team. Solutions have been implemented, structural drawings updated, and the project has continued moving forward without losing momentum.

Today, Phase 1 demolition is nearly complete. That’s an exciting milestone because it marks the point where we shift from uncovering the past to building the future. In many ways, this is where the fun begins—where the vision for the new Tara clubhouse starts to take shape in real and visible ways.

Most importantly, we remain on schedule and on budget, with a target completion in early fall. While renovations of this scale will inevitably present the occasional surprise, the team has done an excellent job staying nimble and focused on the end goal.

When all is said and done, the refreshed clubhouse will provide spaces that better serve how our members gather, dine, celebrate, and connect. We appreciate your continued patience as construction continues and look forward to sharing more progress in the months ahead.

The future of Tara is being built right before our eyes—and it’s going to be something special.

Respectfully,

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS:

TARA GOLF HAPPENINGS

MESSAGE FROM MISSY WILLIAMS, HEAD GOLF PRO 941.758.7961 x1226 | mwilliams@taragcc.com

April has arrived, bringing warmer temperatures along with the possibility of rain and thunderstorms. As we move into the spring season, golfers should keep a close eye on changing weather conditions before and during their rounds. Using your smartphone to monitor local weather and temperatures can help you stay prepared. Consider downloading a free local radar app to receive real-time updates and alerts.

With the warmer weather, proper hydration becomes even more important while on the course. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids throughout your round. Water is essential, but adding electrolytes can help your body stay properly hydrated and maintain energy levels, especially during long or hot days on the course.

Lightning Safety

Our lightning alarm system is in place to help keep everyone safe. If you hear a **solid tone**, please immediately seek shelter at the closest available location. Once the **intermittent tone** sounds, it is safe to return to play. Heading to the nearest shelter rather than traveling farther away helps prevent delays when it’s time to resume play.

Pace of Play Matters

PACE. PACE. PACE.

Pace of play is the responsibility of every golfer on the course. Playing without unnecessary delay ensures that everyone can enjoy their round. Please monitor your position on the course and keep up with the group ahead of you.

If you notice **yellow or red indicators on your GPS** and cannot see the group in front of you, please make every effort to catch up. If needed, consider splitting your group temporarily to regain proper spacing. Remember, even small delays can impact the experience of golfers behind you.

Thank you for helping keep the course safe, enjoyable, and moving smoothly for everyone this spring season.

TARA COURSE HAPPENINGS

MESSAGE FROM DON ABELL, COURSE SUPERINTENDENT

941.751.5593 | dabell@taragcc.com

Spring Time Mole Crickets

Due to the warmer temperatures, we are starting to see insect pressure increase, especially mole crickets. A mole cricket is an insect that burrows in the soil and feeds on grass roots. Mole cricket damage can take place on greens, tees, fairways and rough. Mole cricket damage is evident when the turf is tuft up and the ground is soft when you stand in these areas. One may also notice dirt mounds or burrows that are left in the turf. The maintenance staff has already begun a spot treatment program where we will treat the areas as they present themselves. On the greens, an applicator will mix up lemon scented Ajax and flush the mole crickets from the greens.

A certified contractor will apply Chipco Choice on the fairways, tee’s and rough once a year at the beginning May. Chipco Choice is the leading product on the market for the treatment of mole crickets. Chipco Choice has another benefit because it also treats fire ants. The application of Chipco Choice is very important because it is the best defense against mole crickets which can destroy a golf course in a short period of time. On April 14th the golf course will be closed in the afternoon for a spike or verticut and topdress of the greens.

MESSAGE FROM BRYAN ALLEN, F&B MANAGER

941.756.7775 ext.1225 | bryana@taragcc.com

Dear Members,

As we wrap up another wonderful season at the Golf and Country Club, we want to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude for your patience and understanding during our recent construction project. We know the temporary inconveniences were challenging at times, but your support and cooperation throughout the process have been invaluable.

This past season was truly one for the books. Our social calendar was jampacked with fantastic events, and our membership enjoyed it all. It fills us with pride to see our Golf and Country Club community thriving.

As we look ahead to the new season, we do want to take a moment to gently remind our members about the importance of being considerate when making reservations for our special dinners and events. We understand the excitement and desire to secure your spot, but we want to emphasize that when you make a reservation, you are taking the place of another member who may have been eagerly anticipating that opportunity.

Given our limited capacity in certain areas, we kindly ask that you only make reservations that you are confident you can honor. Cancellations at the last minute can prevent other members from enjoying these exclusive experiences. Your thoughtfulness and understanding in this matter will go a long way in ensuring that everyone has a fair chance to participate in the activities they cherish.

Once again, thank you for your support and for being a part of the Tara Golf and Country Club family. We look forward to many more wonderful memories in the seasons to come.

Thank you,

Bryan Allen

Warm regards,

TARA MASTER COMMUNICATION

MESSAGE FROM KIM LOSKOTA, PRESIDENT

Dear Tara Residents,

We are pleased to welcome a new member to the Board. David Krasnoff, a TGCC resident, officially joined us on March 24, filling the seat previously held by Doug Zandstra. We thank Doug for his service to the community and appreciate his contributions during his term. Welcome David—we look forward to your involvement!

As snowbird season begins to wind down, activity within the TMA remains steady. Please continue to review communications from Condominium Associates for the latest updates and important information.

Looking ahead, effective May 1, we will be transitioning our management services to Resource Property Management (RPM). We are optimistic about this renewed partnership and the value it will bring to our community.

We also want to share that the vacant lot located on Tara Boulevard and Stone River Road is expected to be developed into an extended-stay hotel later this year. As more details and timelines become available, we will keep residents informed.

Lastly, we hope you are enjoying the new median plantings along Tara Boulevard. This project is being led by the Landscape Committee, and we appreciate their efforts in enhancing the beauty of our neighborhood.

Please join us at the April 24th board meeting to keep up to date with TMA activities.

Sincerely,

TARA MASTER COMMUNICATION

As Spring approaches, we’re excited to share that the Tara Boulevard Enhancement Project is nearly complete—and the transformation looks fantastic!

A Fresh New Look for Tara Boulevard

As you travel along Tara Boulevard, you’ll notice beautiful improvements designed to enhance both appearance and safety. The refreshed medians now feature:

· Elegant Royal Palms and Foxtail Palms

· Vibrant seasonal flowers

· Fresh mulch

These updates create a cleaner, more modern look, while improving sight lines and reducing long-term maintenance needs. In addition, some of the aged viburnums on the east side of the boulevard are being replaced. The landscaping refresh will be fully completed in April, made possible through TMA Board-approved funding focused on maintaining the beauty of our community.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as these improvements were completed. We’re excited for you to see the final results and welcome your comments as the transformation continues to take shape!

Entrance Flag Update

Our larger entrance flag at Tara Boulevard and SR 70 is now shining even brighter. Upgraded lighting beautifully highlights our flag, creating a welcoming and patriotic focal point for all who enter our community.

Your TMA Landscape Committee is dedicated to keeping Tara beautiful and thriving.

Committee Members:

Deb King | Bob O’Tain | Jane Funk | Julie VanLiew

BOCCE AT TARA

MESSAGE FROM ROSMARIE BUXBAUM

rosmarieb@rogers.com

This Bocce season was one to remember. Over 300 members of our Tara community participated this year and the amount of camaraderie, teamwork, and enjoyment was overflowing this year. The tournament this year was one for books. Both teams are previous champions, so we already knew it was going to be a nail biter.

There were an incredible number of attendees that came to watch the final match between The Village People, captained by Jim Black, and Amici, captained by Lou Spizzirro. This was an exciting game to watch, every moment was captivating. In the end, Amici came out on top, winning this year’s championship in 3 games. This match was incredible to watch and as the season comes to an end, thank you to all participants, captains, and monitors. We hope everyone has a wonderful summer and we know next season will be just as exciting, if not better.

HOUSE COMMITTEE - FROM OUR HOUSE TO YOURS

Clubhouse Refresh Update

The Clubhouse Refresh has begun. Demolition is underway in both the patio and the dining room. Yes, there will be some inconvenience at the club over the next several months; however, the clubhouse will remain open. Tara Management and the team will continue to provide food and beverage service to our members.

We appreciate your patience as we work to make Tara an even better place for all members. Thank you to Missy for sending out weekly video updates on the construction progress.

Queen of Hearts Drawing

Tickets are sold on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for $2.00 (cash only). Drawings take place every Thursday in the Grille Room at 7:00 PM. Please watch for an upcoming email flyer with rules and additional information.

Congratulations to our winners so far: Teresa Johnson, Tom Orchard, Ray Hupp, Sharon Viner, Jeff Hazey, Grant Hazel and Marian Meyer. The jackpot continues to grow! As a friend once said, “You can’t win if you’re not in.”

Enjoy happy hour drink pricing on Thursdays during the drawing and dinner service. A portion of the proceeds goes toward the club’s Capital Project Fund.

Food & Beverage

Please make reservations so all members can enjoy a great experience at Tara. We have many events coming up in April, May, and June, so be sure to reserve in advance.

Please note that we have new staff members who may need to ask for your member number—especially during the renovation period. Also, if you see a reserved table, please do not remove the name or take the table.

Sparkle Committee

Exterior painting of the clubhouse is complete and looks fantastic. New gutters have been installed and painted at both the clubhouse and pool area. New rope has also been installed in the pool.

Additional items have been identified by Pam, Melissa, and Brett, and his team is working to complete them.

Old Furniture Savings

The House Committee and Tara members would like to thank Morgan for saving the club over $20,000 by arranging for a church to pick up the old dining room tables and chairs. Otherwise, the club would have needed five or more dumpsters, along with additional labor, to complete the removal.

As we wind down the season, we wish all members heading back home a safe trip and a fun-filled summer. To our full-time residents, thank you for your continued support of Tara and our mission to move forward.

It has been an honor to serve as House Chairman for the past two years.

Sincerely,

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

Celebrating our Dedicated Volunteers – Herb & Maureen Gee

The contributions of time and talent from our members directly impact the success and vibrancy of our club. Maureen and Herb Gee are shining examples of commitment and dedication to Tara.

The Gees have been married for 55 years. They discovered Tara in 2000 after stopping for gas and noticing a sign advertising condos for sale. They lived in Fairway Gardens for four years and have now called Stone River home for the past 22 years.

Maureen’s experience in banking, politics, and small business brought valuable expertise to many of Tara’s committees. Over the years, she has served our community in numerous roles, including:

· Member of the Golf Committee in 2001 and a member of committees every year since

· Member of the Board of Directors, serving as Secretary, Vice President, President, and Interim Director

· Founder and organizer of the Election Committee, coordinating voting activities

· President of the Board of Directors during the 2009 club renovation

· Member of the Finance Committee

· Chair of the Long-Range Planning Committee

· Chair of the Golf Committee

· President of the Niner’s Golf League for three terms

· Interclub Chair of the Manasota Nine Hole Interclub Association

Herb’s background as President of a tobacco company, along with his education in agronomy and business management, made him especially well-suited for leadership roles within Tara’s committees. His service includes:

· Member of the Greens Committee for six years

· Chairman of the Greens Committee in 2007, 2008, and 2009

· Member of the Golf Committee for three years

· In 2002, Herb joined a golf group called Maxwell’s Folley. Over the years, the group evolved into what are now known as the Gresham, Clelland, and Sollenberger groups. Herb organized and ran the Friday group for many years, continuing in that role until 2021.

· Herb played a key role in encouraging, promoting, and overseeing the $3.3 million golf course renovation in 2009. The project included upgrading all tee boxes, creating new greens complexes on holes 10, 11, and 12, rebuilding greens to USGA standards, installing a new irrigation system that converted heads from hydraulic to electric, and replacing single-speed pumps with variable-speed pumps.

The Gees feel a strong obligation to serve their community and treasure the friendships they have made over the years. Through their dedication, leadership, and willingness to serve, Maureen and Herb Gee have made a lasting impact on Tara and the many people who call this community home. We deeply appreciate their dedication and are inspired by their commitment.

SOCIAL COMMITTEE

MESSAGE FROM JODI

As we move into April, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been a meaningful and rewarding year for our Social Committee.

This year was about more than events. It was about building connection, creating consistency, and bringing our community together in ways that feel welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable for all.

We stepped into the year continuing the strong foundation built by the previous committee and carried that momentum forward. With the addition of Olivia in her full-time role as Lifestyle Director, we strengthened our planning, communication, and overall execution.

One of our most important steps was defining our mission, which helped guide our work with intention and purpose. Throughout the year, we planned 12 events and supported many others, always listening to member feedback and adjusting along the way.

From favorites like Endless Summer, A Slice of Italy, and the Golf Cart Parade, to newer opportunities like Socialize & Learn and Sip & Learn, we worked to create a variety of experiences that reached different members of our community.

Equally important, this year reflected the heart of Tara through giving. Our efforts supported initiatives like Answer to Cancer, local partnerships, and community outreach. It is a reminder that what we do extends beyond the club and into the lives of others.

Like any growing team, we navigated challenges by balancing tradition with new ideas, honoring favorites while trying something new, and continuing to improve how we communicate and collaborate. Each step made us stronger.

Thank you to the Board for your continued support, and a special thank you to our Board Liaison, Emily Acklin, for her guidance and partnership throughout the year. Thank you as well to David, Morgan, Olivia, our dedicated staff, and especially our Social Committee members for your time, energy, and commitment. This truly is a team effort, and this year’s success reflects that.
