February is a month that creates lovely new memories for those in love, while also reminding us that love is a precious gift from God. For some, it is a time of joyful celebration; for others, it is a meaningful season to honor and remember a beloved spouse who has passed, holding their love close in our hearts. Many of us still enjoy spoiling the people in our lives with sweet and silly GIFs, colorful hearts, chocolates, and flowers. Galentine celebrations are also in full swing, with friends coming together to celebrate the joy of sisterhood. This year, your Club is delighted to host a special Galentine’s Luncheon for our ladies, and an elegant Valentine’s Day Dinner featuring a live Jazz Trio on February 14th. Reservations are required, so please don’t delay we look forward to celebrating with you!
In the Know: Membership priorities: Equity members have priority regarding event placement, then nonequity associate members, then members’ eligible children depending on membership. Grandchildren of members are the same as guests. Parents of members are treated as guests if they are not members themselves. All resigned members will fall under guest guidelines. Club programs, teams, classes, etc. are filled in this order; equity members and children, non-equity members and children, and then guests, if there are openings left.

2026 is going to be one for the record books with the pending renovation scheduled for October and The Approach, new short course, to open this summer. Being a Stubbord traditional golf professional, our goal in 2026 is to conduct our major golf events in the first half of the year before the summer heat and mid-year storms. This will be awkward, demanding on the schedule, and disappointing for those that miss out if planning a traditional year. Please take a minute to review the save the dates below to ensure we have Deerwood golf at your forefront of plans. We started the year with beautiful weather but its turned a bit in January and we are optimistic for a beautiful February. We’ll have the Super Bowl Scramble on Sunday, February 8, adjust your schedules for golf on Monday, February 16 (Presidents’ Day) and closed on Tuesday, and then we’ll have a Ping Tour Van fitting day experience on Saturday, February 21. We’ll wrap up the month with the 4th Annual Presidents Cup – Net Stableford Championship.
Look for various announcements regarding registration for Deerwood’s traditional events like the Quinn Cup, Women’s Member-Member, the Davis Cup, Men’s Member-Member, the Deer Chase, Women’s Invitational, and the Deer Hunt, Men’s Member-Guest.
The Deerwood Golf Committee had its first meeting this past January with several changes to its membership. Please welcome Mr. Joey Batchelor and Mr. Joe Bernardo as co-chairs, Nicole Kopic, John Ryan, Chase Spittler, and Paul Waitrovich to the committee. Many thanks to past chair, Bill Grant, for his leadership over the last few years along with Melissa Heaton, Josh Scobee, and Bill Boutwell for their prior involvement. The Golf & Green Committee has been instrumental in adding on various programs including the pre-paid cart plan, tournament programming, and creating structure for golf course access over the years.
During the dormant season, the course does not repair itself like we see in the summer months. In the summer, the missed divots and pitch marks fill in within a couple of weeks. In the winter months, these unaddressed are apparent until mid spring. PLEASE do your part in making Deerwood great. Five things that every player can do without much effort:
Michael Broderick Director of Golf
course
• Keep all four tires on the path near the green and tees
• Maximize our range tee turf; place ball at back edge of previous divot

We’re off to a great start to the new year and love seeing so many of you out on the racquets courts! We’re excited for another great month of tennis, pickleball, and fun events.
We successfully kicked off our Pickleball League in January with nearly 50 members participating. The league will run through February and conclude with a finals celebration on March 7, with final matches and recognition of our league champions. It’s been a pleasure watching everyone compete, and we’re already planning to bring the league back in late spring/early summer.
Our first-ever Pickleball Member-Guest Tournament is coming up on March 28, and we invite all members to join us. The tournament will feature level -based divisions, with each team guaranteed at least three matches of competitive play. Throughout the day, players will enjoy great food and drinks, and we will finish the event with a fun glow-in-thedark pickleball party to wrap up the celebration. Spots are limited, so we encourage you to sign up early. Please email me if you are interested in participating.
Our junior program continues to thrive, with over 60 kids currently enrolled. We are proud to offer one of the strongest junior programs in the region, providing both group and private instruction for players ages 4 through 18. Whether your child is just getting started or has college tennis ambitions, we have a program to support their development. If you would like to get your child involved, please reach out and I would be happy to help them get
started.
Till Von Winning Director of Racquet Sports

Our ladies teams kicked off the second half of their season in January, and it has been great to see everyone competing and improving. We are excited to see how the rest of the season unfolds. Looking ahead, we plan to register additional USTA teams for the summer when there is no other league play taking place. If you are interested in joining a team, please let us know. We also still have openings on all ladies teams, and players of all levels, from beginners to advanced, are welcome to join.

Spring is shaping up to be a busy and fun social season at the racquets courts. We will be hosting our First Friday Racquets Social on February 6 and again on March 6. Both events will feature a fun round-robin format followed by food and drinks on the deck, making them a great opportunity to play, socialize, and meet fellow members.
If you are new to tennis, we invite you to join our Tennis 101 Clinic on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 PM. This clinic is a great way to learn the basics and get comfortable on the court, especially with the upcoming golf course renovation. We would love to get you started and welcome you into our racquets community.
See you all at the courts!

February is the perfect month to recommit to your health and show your body some love. Whether you’re just getting started or building on your New Year momentum, we’re here to help you stay consistent, motivated, and feeling your best.
Make Working Out a Habit
Consistency is the secret to results. Aim to schedule your workouts just like any other important appointment. Even 30–45 minutes a few times a week can make a big difference in your energy, strength, and mood. Remember: progress comes from showing up.
Try a Class – You’re Stronger Together
Group fitness classes add energy, structure, and fun to your routine. From strength and cardio to flexibility and balance, classes help you stay accountable and push past plateaus. Plus, working out with others makes it easier to stay motivated and committed.
Check the class schedule and challenge yourself to try at least one new class this month!
We will be adding an additional Yoga class on Monday at 11:30am starting February 9th Come join Tracy and get your Yoga on!
Personal Training = Personalized Results
Not sure what to do when you get to the gym? A personal trainer can design a plan that fits your goals, experience, and schedule. Whether you want to lose weight, build muscle, improve balance, or gain confidence, personal training gives you direction and faster results.
Ask the front desk about personal training packages and how to get started.
Nutrition:
• Fuel Your Fitness
• Exercise and nutrition go hand in hand. Focus on:
• Lean proteins for muscle recovery
• Fruits and vegetables for vitamins and energy
• Whole grains for lasting fuel
• Plenty of water to stay hydrated
• Small changes like planning meals, limiting sugary drinks, and adding more whole foods can lead to big improvements.
February Fitness Challenge
• 8 workouts this month
• 4 group fitness classes
• 1 nutrition upgrade (more veggies, more water, or fewer sweets)
• Track your progress and celebrate every win big or small!
Love Your Body. Love Your Health.
This February, choose movement, motivation, and mindful eating. Your future self will thank you. Let’s make this a month full of strength, confidence, and positive change!

Hello Deerwood!
Hopefully those New Year’s resolutions are still holding strong, and if not, there’s always next year! Here in Kids Club, we’ve been busy preparing for an exciting year ahead and we don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.
A Small Rebrand & Big Fun
Formerly known as TGIF, Kids Night Out is our biweekly themed party held every other Friday evening. Each event transforms Kids Club with immersive décor, games, crafts, treats, and themed activities designed for all ages. These parties have truly been the pride and joy of Kids Club over the past year and keep getting better! The best part is that kids look forward to coming to Kids Club for a fun-filled night with friends while parents can enjoy time at the Club knowing their children are in great hands.
Kids Club Goals for 2026
As our program continues to grow, our goal is to maintain the exceptional level of care families expect while also adding even more value through exciting, thoughtfully planned experiences. This year, you’ll see continued creativity, new themes, and expanded opportunities for kids to connect, play, and make memories at Deerwood.
February Bonus Party Lineup
February brings a little extra fun with a bonus Kids Night Out. Our February themes include:
Friday, February 6, Football Friday
We will be dividing the Kids Club to support the two teams going to the Super Bowl. Kids will pick a side an participate in themed crafts, activities, and best of all Football inspired challenges for some fun prizes. May the best team win.
Friday, February 13, Cupid’s Takeover
What's not to love about Valentine's day?!
Cupid is planning on taking over the Kids Club and will stop at nothing! We are going to be making Valentine Cards, special themed crafts, get to decorate heart shaped cookies, and some fun games all the kids will LOVE!!!
Friday, February 20, Board Game Bonanza
Kids are welcome to bring their favorite board games or jump into one of ours for a night of
Frank Favale Kids’ Club Director
friendly competition. No rule breakers allowed!
Please make sure to reserve your spot for the parties as we fill up rather quickly. I feel it is very important for me to mention that the window to sign-up for our Kids Night Out ends three hours before the event. This means that we will still except drop-in until we reach max capacity.

Last year, we introduced the Rise & Shine Club to better server our morning families and youngest mini members, and the response was incredible. From that success Keepsake Corner and Storytime quickly because parent favorites, and we are excited to keep growing these programs in the months ahead.
If you haven't joined us for Keepsake Corner yet, this is your sign. Keepsake corner is a guided, one-hour craft experience designed specifically for parents and their little ones to create together. This is not a drop-off program. It is intentional, slow-paced, and supportive, making it perfect for families who may not visit Kids Club that often or are just getting started.
If there is one thing that all parents can agree on is that kids grow up too quickly. Keepsake Corner gives you a chance to pause and capture this stage while it's happening. Each month, our team hand selects three age-appropriate crafts that preserve your child's tiny hands, sweet details, and early milestones in a meaningful way. These are not one-and-done art projects. They are keepsakes that you will treasure for years to come.
And the best part... No prep, No mess, no pressure. We provide all the materials, guide you step-by-step, and create a welcoming environment where parents can connect with their children and with each other. Whether it's your first visit or your fifth, Keepsake Corner is an easy, joyful way to experience what Kids Club has to offer.
Now back to making memories,
Frank ffavale@deerwoodclub.com
