Summer is officially warming up at Deerwood, and our calendar is filling faster than a pool deck chair on the 4th of July!
On the Course
We begin June with The Stag , our Senior Men’s Member-Guest, on June 5 & 6. This classic Deerwood event brings together great golf, friendly competition, and the type of camaraderie that reminds us why member-guest season is always one of the best times of the year.
Kids Summer Camps
For our younger Members, Kids Summer Camps are also just around the corner, including Junior Golf Camps and Junior Tennis Camps. Whether they are learning a proper grip, chasing down a forehand, making new friends, or simply burning off enough energy to make bedtime easier for parents… summer camp at Deerwood is always a win.
Father’s Day
On Sunday, June 21, we will celebrate Father’s Day with the Father’s Day Generations Golf Tournament, followed by Father’s Day Brunch. It is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a little family golf, celebrate dads and granddads, and then reward everyone with a great meal… because nothing says “Happy Father’s Day” quite like golf, brunch, and someone else doing the dishes.
Independence Day
And, of course, please save the date for our Independence Day celebrations. We will light up the sky with Fireworks on Friday, July 3, followed by our 4th of July Pool Party as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday all weekend long in true Deerwood style.
A little American Fun Fact for the Occasion: The Declaration of Independence was actually approved on July 2, 1776, but adopted on July 4, proving that even America needed a couple of extra days to finalize the paperwork. Also, only two people signed the Declaration on July 4: John Hancock and Charles Thomson. The rest signed later, which means “getting signatures after the meeting” has apparently been a tradition since the very beginning.

One of the things that makes Deerwood truly special is the culture our Members have built over generations. Many of our families have enjoyed the club for decades, with children and grandchildren now creating memories of their own here. There is a genuine sense of community, connection, and pride that cannot be manufactured — it is cultivated through the people who call Deerwood home.
As a private club, our Membership is intentionally curated. Golf Course Renovation
Throughout the renovation, golf at Deerwood will remain active and engaging. Members will enjoy The Approach, our exciting new short course designed for casual play, instruction, Member events, and quick rounds when time is limited. In addition, our professional golf team has secured access to a network of premier private clubs throughout North Florida, along with organized away games and golf trips designed to maintain the fellowship and competitive spirit our Members value so highly.
Equally important is what will not change: our commitment to preserving the quality of the golf experience itself. Deerwood has always prioritized access, pace of play, and Member enjoyment over excessive volume. By intentionally capping golf Membership and maintaining fewer rounds than many area clubs, we continue to offer something increasingly rare — an open tee sheet, preferred tee time availability, and a consistent sub-four-hour pace of play. That commitment will remain a defining characteristic of Deerwood for years to come.
Membership Caps
As these investments continue and demand for Membership grows, initiation fees are expected to increase incrementally, and we are steadily approaching established Membership caps designed to protect the long-term Member experience and the club’s exclusivity. As that happens, Membership opportunities will naturally become more limited, and an eventual waiting list is anticipated.
For many of our Members, Deerwood is not simply a club — it is part of their family’s lifestyle and legacy. If there are friends, neighbors, family members, or colleagues you would truly enjoy sharing the Club with for years to come, now is the time to introduce them to Deerwood before the next initiation increase and before remaining Membership opportunities become increasingly scarce. Our June schedule kicks off our Junior Golf season with the start of PGA Junior League, four weeks of week-long summer camps, Club Camp hosting a golf portion on Tuesdays & Thursdays, and hosting two North Florida Junior Tour events in July. Our Team is excited to train and excite the next generation of players and offer opportunities for their growth.

Running Tuesday - Friday from 8-10:30AM, for juniors ages 5 and up. Clubs can be provided, and all skill levels, from beginner to advanced, are welcome. Camps incorporate a variety of athletic movements, drawing connections from sports such as soccer, basketball, baseball, and tennis to help develop the golf swing in a fun and engaging way. Please look for the camp-specific emails for pricing and registration details.
Adult Programming
June continues to be active with the continuation of Thursday Night Mixed Twilight Golf at 5:30PM concluding with appetizers in the clubhouse following play weekly. The 3rd edition of The Stag, Senior Men’s MemberGuest, the U.S. Open Pick-A-Pro, and the annual Father’s Day tradition of the Generations Tournament.
Since we have our abridged schedule, the 3rd Annual Men’s Senior Member-Guest, The Stag, will be played in June. The Stag uses four different 9-hole formats over two days and concludes with the championship playoff on Saturday afternoon. We are thankful for Bill Grant to step up this year as the Presenting Sponsor with his company, BG Wealth Management. With more than 40 players registered, I’m sure this will be another great event.
Join the fun this Father’s Day for the annual “Generations” Tournament. Family members pair up for a 2-person scramble or better ball of 2. Both options should generate a solid field. Please look for the event-specific emails for registration details.
Our “Ryder Cup”- style event, the Deerwood Cup , will be held in July this year. We hope you have marked this on your calendar as it’s a very popular event. Since we’re not doing a full-course closure this year (aerification) due to the renovation, we’ll continue to enjoy quality play through the summer.
The Women’s Summer Team season is here, and the Deerwood ladies’ are excited to compete! Matches played at Deerwood are played at 9AM, 9:10AM & 9:20AM. Play is four-ball match play with each match worth 18 points. Teams earn 1 point for a win and ½ point for a tie on each hole. Teams earning the most points (holes won) through their 10-week season advance to the playoffs to compete against the other regions. Deerwood is accompanied by our longstanding partners, Eagle Harbor. Best of luck on a great season! Full match schedule on page 12.
As we enter storm season, please stay aware of changing weather conditions. Afternoon pop-up thunderstorms are expected, so plan ahead and consider taking a cart when weather is uncertain. Please listen for the Earth Network Alarm System during play. When the alarm sounds, ALL FACILITIES will close immediately and everyone must seek shelter for safety, including Team Members. The system monitors a 6-mile radius from the clubhouse roof weather station. You can also view real-time data and forecasts through the club app.

With the season now officially complete, we are already planning for the next one, which begins in August. If you are not currently on a team but would like to join, we would love to have you. We have spots available for all levels, from beginners to advanced players, so please reach out with any questions. We are also planning a few summer boot camps, so stay tuned for updates.
Our Deerwood Junior Summer Camps begin this month and will run through the first week of August. We have something for all ages, from 4 to 18 years old, and for every level, from beginners to juniors with college tennis ambitions. Each week will include plenty of tennis, poolside lunches, games, and fun, along with different weekly themes. We would love to host your kids for a great summer. Please check out the flyer on page 16 for more informaiton.
Get ready for our next Racquets Social: Tiki Night Edition on June 5 at 6PM. We will play fun tennis and pickleball games, followed by an evening on the tennis deck with food and drinks. Come dressed up; it should be a great time.
Looking ahead, we will also have our Breakfast at Wimbledon Event on July 11 at 9AM, featuring both tennis and pickleball, so be sure to mark your calendars.

Join fellow Members for an energetic evening on the courts featuring a fun mix of tennis and pickleball in a lively tropical atmosphere.
Players will rotate through multiple stations in small groups, with each court offering a different fast-paced game or activity designed to keep everyone moving, mingling, and having a great time. Choose your game, tennis or pickleball, and enjoy a dynamic night of friendly competition and social connection.
Embrace the Tiki Night theme by wearing your best Hawaiian shirts, bright colors, or festive athletic attire.
After play wraps up, stick around for included food and continue the fun off the court.

Dear Deerwood Families,
Summer Camp is officially underway, and we are so excited for an incredible summer at Deerwood Kids Club! Our themed weeks are packed with creativity, adventure, teamwork, and fun that your children will not find anywhere else.
�� Week 1: World Wide Sports

�� Week 3: Battle of the Bands
�� Week 4: Wilderness Explorers
As we head into July, we are excited for even more unforgettable adventures:
�� Week 5: Red, White, & Splash (4-day week due to our big July 3rd celebration!)
Celebrate summer with water games, splash battles, patriotic crafts, and all-American fun during this exciting 4-day camp week.
⚡ Week 6: Harry Potter
Your little witches and wizards will board the train to Hogwarts, learn magical spells, compete in wizarding challenges, and experience a week full of magic and imagination.
☠ Week 7: Pirate Adventure
Campers will search for hidden treasure, create pirate maps, race pirate ships, and join Captain Woody’s crew for an unforgettable adventure on the high seas.
�� Week 8: Junior Chefs Academy (Ages 6 & Up – our first camp designed just for older kids!)
Designed for our older campers ages 6 and up, children will learn kitchen safety, cooking techniques, and create delicious recipes every day that they’ll be excited to share at home.
�� Week 9: Deerwood Olympics
One of our favorite Deerwood traditions returns as campers compete in exciting team challenges, earn medals for their countries, and celebrate teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun.
Summer Camp Registration
For our second session of camp, regiatration will close on Thursday, June 25 in order for us to prepare all the exciting games, crafts, activities, and experiences planned for our campers. All Summer Camp information, registration details, and updates are available through the club app.
As always, one of the best parts of what we do is watching your little ones grow and create lasting memories each season. We are incredibly grateful to spend another summer with your families and cannot wait to see all the fun June and July bring. I’d also like to welcome our newest attendant, Keelin, and welcome back our summer camp counselors, Maddie and Megan for another fantastic summer.

Club Reminders
As we head into a busy and fun-filled summer season, we appreciate your help with a few simple reminders. None of these are new or intended to spoil anyone’s fun—quite the opposite. They help keep Deerwood comfortable, orderly, and enjoyable for everyone.
Guest Registration
Please remember to register all Guests prior to arrival. This allows us to properly prepare, staff accordingly, and avoid any awkward “And who might this be?” moments.
Dress Code and Club Etiquette
As Arnold Palmer once said, “A gentleman removes his hat in the clubhouse.” While times may have changed, a few standards are still worth maintaining. We kindly ask for your cooperation in upholding appropriate dress and conduct throughout the club. Proper attire is expected for all Members and Guests, whether on the course, courts, pool, or in the clubhouse.
1960 and Poolside Areas
1960 is designed to be a more casual, family-friendly dining space given its proximity to the pool, verandah, and snack bar patio. Swimwear is permitted on the pool deck and snack bar patio only. When entering indoor spaces, we ask that proper cover-ups be worn.
Sam’s Place
A friendly reminder that Sam’s Place is reserved for Members and Guests age 21 and older. It is intended to be an adult space where the conversation is mature and the atmosphere is relaxed.
Children at the Snack Bar Window
Summer at Deerwood should absolutely include happy kids and plenty of snack requests. That said, we ask that parents or responsible adults accompany children at all times when visiting the pool or clubhouse, especially when ordering food and beverages at 1960 and the Snack Bar. Having a parent or responsible adult present helps ensure that orders are placed correctly, Member charges are processed correctly, and dietary needs are clearly communicated.
Children in the Hot Tub
The hot tub is reserved for Members and Guests age 17 and older. This is for both safety and to maintain a more relaxed environment in one small corner of the property.
Swim Diapers
For our youngest swimmers, please remember to bring swim diapers when needed. They are also available for purchase at the Fitness Desk. This small step helps keep the pool clean and open for everyone and avoids the kind of pool closure story no one wants to be part of.
The Deerwood Member Mobile App
Our new Mobile App includes a helpful fantastic behind-the-scenes tool called the “Member Name Game,” which is a wonderful instrument to help our Team get to know the Members. To make the most of this feature, please upload a current photo of yourself, and have location services and push notifications enabled! This helps ensure a more personalized experience, from greetings to fantastic service and accurate billing.
Thank you, as always, for your support of these simple but important standards. The Team truly enjoys seeing and serving you at the club and your support helps us avoid putting our Team in the uncomfortable position of having to deliver these reminders in the moment.
