Exciting news is now in your hands with the release of our new Deerwood Mobile App!
Developed from the ground up to enhance your Member experience, the app makes it easier than ever to enjoy everything your club has to offer. Yes, you can still make dining reservations, check your statements, and contact the club, but now it does so much more.
To help you get the most out of this powerful new tool, we’ve scheduled several “Appy Hours” for one-on-one time with our Team. We’ll walk you through the features and show you how to customize the app to fit your lifestyle.
New Feature: “Who’s at Deerwood”
Ever pull in and wonder, “Who else is here?” Now you’ll know! With “Who’s at Deerwood” and the “I’m at Deerwood!” option, you can choose to share your presence with friends and buddy groups, and see who else is enjoying the club at the same time.
Deerwood Living, In Your Pocket
The Deerwood Mobile App keeps you connected to club life anytime, anywhere:
• View your Monthly Member Statements
• See Upcoming Events
• Make Reservations for Sports and Social Activities
A Small Setting That Makes a Big Difference
When Location Services are enabled, our Team can receive a helpful arrival notification when you come to the club for a reservation, tee time, court time, or training session. This allows us to share timely updates and pop-up specials while you’re on property, and helps us anticipate your needs to provide a seamless experience from the moment you arrive.
As always, keep an eye on the club calendar, and now, the new app makes that even easier! Welcome to March!
See you at the club, Thayer

Message from Director of Sales & Membership Experience, Shannon McQuarry
I’m pleased to introduce myself as Deerwood Country Club’s new Director of Sales & Membership. As a Jacksonville native who recently moved back to the area, it has been a joy to see how the city has evolved—while Deerwood Country Club continues to stand as one of the true pillars of this community. I’m honored to step into this role and to serve such an exceptional Membership.
Welcome Our Newest Members
I am delighted to welcome our newest Members to Deerwood! Please join me in extending a warm welcome as they begin their Membership journey with us!
Cole & Bridget Mazza
Peter Wainio
Barry Argalas
Dr. Joe Wood—Our Newest Upgrade to Full Golf Member!
With the completion of Phase One of our renovation—including the pool, clubhouse, and dining areas—we’ve seen a meaningful increase in the overall value of Deerwood Membership. In response, initiation fees have been adjusted to reflect these enhancements and the continued investment in the club’s future. That said, Members still have a limited opportunity to introduce friends, family, colleagues, or neighbors to Deerwood at our current initiation rates by encouraging them to join sooner rather than later.
Member referrals are among the most meaningful ways our club grows. When you refer someone to Deerwood, you’re not simply extending an introduction— you’re sharing a place that reflects your values, your lifestyle, and the community you’ve chosen for yourself and your family. You know the club best, and you know the people in your life who would truly appreciate what Deerwood offers. These thoughtful introductions help preserve the culture of the club while strengthening the connections that make our community so special.
I look forward to meeting and spending time with many of you around the club in the weeks ahead. It’s a privilege to be here, and I’m truly excited to get to know each of you.
Warm regards,
Shannon McQuarry Director of Sales & Membership Experience

Message from Director of Food & Beverage, Joseph Bragg
Hello Deerwood Members,
My name is Joseph Bragg, and I am honored to introduce myself as Deerwood Country Club’s new Director of Food & Beverage. I am truly grateful for the warm welcome I have already received and look forward to becoming part of this special community.
I bring more than a decade of hospitality leadership experience, including roles within Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond properties. Throughout my career, my focus has been on creating memorable dining experiences, cultivating strong and supportive teams, and delivering service that feels both elevated and genuine.
As a Certified Sommelier, I have a deep passion for wine education and beverage programming. I am excited to continue enhancing Deerwood’s wine and beverage offerings in ways that are approachable, engaging, and enjoyable for our membership.
From my very first visit, it was clear that Deerwood is a club defined by its strong culture, engaged membership, and talented team. I look forward to working alongside our culinary and service professionals to build upon what already makes this club exceptional and to further elevate the experiences our members enjoy.
I am eager to meet many of you around the club and to get to know the Deerwood family in the weeks ahead.
Warm regards,
Joseph Bragg Director of Food & Beverage

Message from Director of Golf, Mike Broderick
The PGA Tour’s Florida Swing is in full effect, with the Masters just around the corner next month. We hope you all enjoy watching The PLAYERS Championship the week of March 10–15.
Get involved in the action with our PLAYERS Pick-A-Pro on Saturday, March 14. The Pick-A-Pro event is a two-person game held on the Saturday of tournament week. Teams will compete in a four-ball net stroke play event and be paired with a competitor in the field who made the cut. Pick-A-Pro is available to Full Golf & Sports Members who play on Saturday morning.
2026 is already flying by, and registration is now open for several Deerwood traditions, including the Deer Chase, Women’s Interclub, the Davis Cup, Men’s Member-Member, and the Deer Hunt (Men’s Member-Guest) . Please look for dedicated emails with full details and registration updates.
The weather is beginning to turn, the grass is about to pop, and the tee sheets are filling up with Member activities. With the change in temperature comes increased interest in playing. We ask that every Member take pride in their course and continue to support the care for the course initiative set forth by the Golf Committee.
The simple actions players take during their round have the most significant impact on daily conditioning. Please remember to sand your divots, rake bunkers, and repair pitch marks. Sand is provided in carts and is readily available from Team or at refill stations. Repairing a pitch mark while it is fresh dramatically improves recovery time. Raking bunkers ensures proper playing conditions for those who follow. These small efforts greatly aid turf recovery and show respect for your fellow Members.
Junior Golf at Deerwood Country Club continues to grow through our weekly Sunday clinics, held from 11AM – 12PM. If you have a junior interested in learning the game— or out-of-town Guests seeking instruction—please contact the golf shop to register.
Week 1: June 10–13 | Week 2: June 17–20 | Week 3: June 24–27 | Week 4: July 1–4 Week 5: July 15–18 | Week 6: July 22–25 | Week 7: July 29–August 1
We will conduct our Summer Golf Camps, Tuesday - Friday from 8AM – 10:30AM, designed for juniors ages 5 & up. Clubs can be provided, and skill levels range from novice to advanced. Our camps incorporate a variety of athletic movements that connect traditional sports such as soccer, basketball, baseball, and tennis to the golf swing—all while keeping it fun and engaging for every age.
Finally, if you are not receiving golf course updates, please check your spam folder and search your inbox for “noreply@golfgenius.com.”
Best regards,
Mike Broderick, PGA Director of Golf

As we turn the page to March, we can feel it — longer days, warmer mornings, and spring right around the corner. This is the perfect time to reset, refocus, and recommit to your health and wellness goals.
Spring represents renewal — and there’s no better place to refresh your routine than right here at Deerwood Fitness.
Spring Is On the Way — Refresh Your Routine
With more daylight and improving weather, motivation naturally increases this time of year. Take advantage of it. Whether your goal is to build strength, improve endurance, lose weight, or simply feel better, now is the time to elevate your consistency.
Consistency beats intensity. Small, steady effort each week will carry you into summer feeling stronger and more confident.
The Importance of Group Fitness Classes
Group fitness classes provide:
Built-In Accountability
Structured Programming
Professional Instruction
Energy and Camaraderie
Working out in a class setting pushes you beyond what you might do on your own. The encouragement, music, and group atmosphere make a difference — and they make fitness fun.
Make Exercise a Non-Negotiable
Exercise isn’t just about appearance — it improves:
Heart Health
Bone Density
Mental Clarity
Stress Management
Sleep Quality
Aim for at least 3–4 workouts per week, combining strength training, cardio, and flexibility. A balanced program delivers the best long-term results.

If you feel stuck, unsure where to start, or ready to take your results to the next level, personal training can make all the difference. A certified trainer will:
Create a Customized Plan
Ensure Proper Technique
Help Prevent Injury
Provide Accountability
Help You Break Through Plateaus
Investing in personal training is investing in yourself. One session can reset your entire approach.
Let’s Spring Forward Together
March is about momentum. Let’s build habits now that carry into summer and beyond.
If you have questions about classes, personal training, or updating your fitness plan, stop by the fitness center — we’re here to help.
Here’s to a strong and energized spring!
Best regards,
Darren Angle Director of Fitness & Aquatics

Message from Catering & Special Events Manager, Rebekkah Flanagan
Dear Members,
As we move into another exciting season at Deerwood, I am continually reminded that what makes our club so special is not simply the beautiful setting or exceptional cuisine — it is the moments we create together.
Our Catering & Special Events Team has been honored to host an incredible variety of celebrations recently. From elegant weddings and milestone anniversaries to corporate gatherings and themed Member socials, each event reflects the unique personality and vision of our Members. Watching the Ballroom transform for a black-tie reception one weekend and a lively family celebration the next is a testament to the versatility of our spaces and the dedication of our Team.

Looking ahead, we are especially excited about our upcoming seasonal events and Member experiences. Our Culinary Team is crafting fresh, inspired menus that highlight both elevated classics and creative new offerings. Whether you are attending one of our club-hosted dinners, planning a holiday gathering, or organizing a business luncheon, our goal remains the same: flawless execution paired with warm, attentive service.
I also want to take a moment to emphasize how early planning truly makes a difference. Prime dates for weddings, holiday parties, and spring celebrations are booking quickly. If you are considering hosting an event at the club in 2026 or 2027, I encourage you to reach out soon so we can begin bringing your vision to life. From menu tastings and room layouts to specialty linens and signature cocktails, our team is here to guide you through every detail.
At Deerwood, events are more than calendar entries — they are milestones, traditions, and memories in the making. It is a privilege to play a role in life’s most meaningful celebrations for our Members and their families.
Thank you for continuing to trust us with your most important moments. I look forward to seeing you around the club and working with you soon.
With gratitude,
Rebekkah Flanagan Catering & Special Events Manager
