Cleaninputshaftsplinesandwithused clutchplatescleanhubsplines,remove corrosionandapplyaverythincoatof G000100greasetotheinputshaft, untilthehubmovefreelyontheshaft. Removesurplusgreasewithoutfail.

Caution!

Assembleclutchsothatthecenteringpinsinflywheelengagethe centeringholesorslotsinthe pressureplate.OtherwisetheTDC markonflywheelwillnolonger becorrect.

Vehicleswithgearchangeandconsumptionindicator

(OnlySciroccofromJanuary1981)

Vehicleswiththegearchangeandconsumptionindicator(GCI)haveaspecialswitch-arrow1-inthe gearbox.Thisswitchswitchestheconsumptionindicatoroffinthefirstfourgearsandkeepsthe gearchangeindicatorreadyforaction.Inadditionit takesoverthefunctionofthereversinglightswitch.

Inthisconnectiontheselectorshafthasbeenmodified.Theretainingscrewhasbeendiscontinuedand replacedbyapegbolt-arrow2.Thelocationofthe individualgearsisnowdonebypartsofthenewselectorshaft.

Repairinstruction:

Beforeremovingtheselectorshafttakeoutthepeg boltandtheGCIswitch.

Withtheintroductionofthe1.8litre,82 KWengineitisnecessarytoprovidean additionalbearingfortheoutputshaft. Thenewneedlebearingissecuredaxiallybyaspecialscrew(self-tapping).

Asarunningchangetheoldgearboxbreatherabove thegearshiftshaftcover,hasbeenrelocatedinthe areabetweenthegearshiftshaftpinscrewandthe clutchcableguide.

Ifthegearboxhousingisexchanged,asleeve-Part No.014301473-mustbedrivenintothebreather drillingusingthespecialtool32-106.Thesleeveis thentobefittedwithaplasticcap-PartNo.014301 485-.

TDCsensoradapterinclutchhousing

TheinsertiondepthoftheTDCsensormustbe matchedtothesizeoftheflywheel.Therearethereforetwoadaptersofdifferentcolours:

-Greenadapter-PartNo.020301129Dfor210 mmdiameterclutch(installedinvehicleswith1.8 litreengineandinCaddywithallenginetypes).

-Whiteadapter-PartNo.020301129B/Cfor190 or200mmdiameterclutch(installedinvehicles with1.5and1.6litreengines-exceptCaddy).

Itisessentialtoensurethatthecorrectadapteris usedwhenchangingagearboxorconvertingthe clutch.

Resultsoffittingtheincorrectadapter: 1.Whiteadapter-210mmclutch

-TheTDCsensorwillbedestroyedandthe marksontheflywheeldamaged.Partsofthe TDCsensorwillbefoundintheclutchhousing.

2.Greenadapter-190or200mmclutch

-Thetesterwillshoweithernoindicationoraninaccuratealternatingone.

Springforthereversegearrelaylever

From13087thereversegearrelaylever-A-has beenprovidedwithaspring-B-andthisensurescorrectselectionofthereversegear.

Thespringissupportedbyalocatingpin-C-inthe clutchhousing.

Forthis,thehousinghasbeenprovidedwitharib whichhasarecessintowhichthelocatingpinisinserted-arrow-.

Furthermore,thestrut-D-hasbeenmodifiedtoenabletherelaylever-A-tobeinstalledfreeoftension.

Theearliertypestrutswerebentinslightlyatthe top.Whenusingtheoldtypestrutcorrectfunctioningcannotbeguaranteed.

Note:

Thespringcanonlybeserviceinstalledinconjunctionwiththemodifiedrelaylever,modifiedsupports, andmodifiedclutchhousing.

Modifiedlocatingandmountingofthe selectorshaftinthegearbox

Fromgearboxbuilddate07029thelocatingand mountingoftheselectorshafthasbeenmodified: -Locatingtheselectorshaft

Previously:Theselectorshaft1waslocatedviaa balldetent.

New:

Theselectorshaft1islocatedbythelocatingscrew 2viathedetentelement3.

Thelocatingscrewisinstalledinplaceofthepreviouspegscrew.Todothisthethreadinthegearbox housinghasbeenincreasedin diametertoacceptthelocatingscrew.

Tighteningtorque:20Nm

Note:

Beforereinstallingthelocatingscrew,twothreads aretobecoatedwithsealingcompoundAMV188 20003.

New:

Mountedinbearingsleeves.

Theselectorshaftismountedinthestopcap4and inthegearboxhousingwithbearingsleeves5and6.
