HFS Primary Furniture 2026

Page 1

We have used HFS to purchase classroom tables and chairs on three occasions now. They have been happy to provide three quotes, which has saved us a huge amount of time, and have dealt with the resulting order professionally. Emma was always at the end of the phone if we needed to clarify anything. We would now always go to HFS with furniture requirements, as the three quotes make them a ‘one stop shop!’

Mandeville Primary School

New Build Project & Reception Refurbishment

Emma Mather, our Furniture Project Manager worked closely with Sarah Lilly, the school Governor to provide guidance for the school’s transition from 1 to 2 form entry. We created furniture and seating proposals that catered to their exact requirements for both the use of space and functionality across the school.

The project covered over 200 pieces of furniture across the Main School office, Staff Room, Reception area, KS1 classrooms, 4 new classrooms and the Head Teacher’s Office where we created a positive first impression for parents and visitors to the school.

The design and installation of 8 Bespoke Learning Walls from UK based supplier Willowbrook have now become a classroom essential, placing the interactive whiteboard at the central focal point to remain the key focus for learning.

With only one day between the new office and reception area block being completed and the children returning to school, timelines were extremely tight. We worked in line with the builders on the project and remained flexible with delivery schedules to ensure that the schools project was completed in time for the new term.

Overall, we proudly delivered exceptional looking rooms throughout the school with great quality furniture that gave a modern feel, bringing the schools vision to life.

I highly recommend HFS to any school looking to enhance their learning environment. Their high-quality furniture and exceptional service have made a noticeable difference in our students’ daily experience

Hujjat Primary School

Library to learning transformation

What was once a traditional school library has been completely transformed into an inspiring Food Tech, Art & DT room for Year 6 pupils - a space that’s already igniting creativity, confidence and handson learning.

Once approved, our team secured a rapid turnaround and completed the full refit within just six weeks! Our Furniture Project Manager, Luan Wheeler, worked closely with the school from the very beginning. After completing a full site survey and presenting multiple design options, Luan ensured the final design met the school’s needs, vision and budget.

Working closely with Interior Options, they managed and installed all elements of the fit-out, ensuring a seamless, high-quality finish throughout.

The project included brand-new flooring, upgraded electrics and plumbing, a Howdens functional kitchen setup, plus a Bosch fridgefreezer and induction oven - creating a professional, safe and exciting environment for young learners.

Now, pupils are thriving. They’re already enjoying making bread and fruit punches, and the new room is helping them build practical life skills, collaborate with classmates and feel confident exploring handson learning in a modern, purpose-built space.

Burton End Primary School

New SEND Unit transformation

Burton End Primary School underwent a significant transformation with the development of their brandnew SEND unit. The school introduced two bespoke classrooms named Explorers and Adventurers.

Emma Mather project manager was tasked with a brief to not only create a space that supports multi-sensory learning, encourages independence, and provides comfort and stimulation for a multitude of ages but also to curate an inspiring selection of SEND resources.

• Sensory Mood Discovery Tables, Egg Mood Lights, and Large Bubble Tube provided gentle visual stimulation, perfect for calming anxious pupils and enhancing focus during transitions or quiet time.

• Our Giant Dark Den Tent offered a safe and enclosed retreat, helping children to self-regulate when overwhelmed.

• Activity Walls, Step ‘N’ Sound Pads, and How Am I Feeling Blocks encouraged engagement, emotional expression, and sensory exploration.

• The City Fire Station, Alphabet Chalkboards and Number Carpets brought together learning and play, ideal for teachers looking to deliver structured yet creative lessons!

Working closely with Jason AustinGuest, the school’s dedicated SENCO, the project was completed within just one month. The outcome was a carefully selected, immersive environment filled with tactile, calming, and interactive furniture designed to support emotional regulation, fine motor development, and inclusive learning.

This project not only delivered real value within a short time frame but demonstrated how tailored furniture solutions can bring a school’s SEND vision to life.

The durability and versatility of the resources meant they could be used flexibly throughout the day, supporting both structured group learning and individual, child-led exploration.

Schools are increasingly looking for ways to lower environmental impact while creating safer, welcoming spaces for learners.

By choosing responsible materials, thoughtful lighting and durable furniture, you can create classrooms that support pupil wellbeing and reduce long-term maintenance costs.

Our approach prioritises sustainable choices that are practical, long-lasting and achievable within real school budgets.

When selecting classroom furniture, the duraform edge finish was a key consideration for us. We were particularly mindful of minimising exposure to MDF and chemicals, so having well-sealed, durable edges was essential. The quality of the finish has made a real difference - the tables are hardwearing and create a safer learning environment for our pupils. This was a whole school project and we had to ensure effective spending, durability over time and also ensuring that our children work with equipment and resources that keep them safe from harmful chemicals or processes. HFS - really took on board our questions and put it at the front of sourcing out suitable tables/furniture for our school.

Unity Stars - Chalkstone Way

New Nursery Build

Unity Schools Partnership embarked on an exciting journey to open a new nursery, aiming to create an inspiring and engaging environment for young learners.

In January, the project took its first steps. An in-depth consultation was held with Unity Schools Partnership to discuss their vision and preferences. Emma Mather, our Furniture Project Manager, collaborated closely with Carla Dale, the Headteacher, and Karen Davies, the Nursery Manager. They envisioned a space that would not only cater to the developmental needs of the children but also spark their imaginations. We took note of the different zones required, such as the imaginative play area, creative and messy play section, quiet retreat, and the active play zones.

The nursery now boasts a beautifully arranged space that caters to various educational activities:

• Imaginative Play: Stimulating creativity with thoughtfully designed play zones.

• Creative & Messy Play: Encouraging hands-on learning and artistic expression.

• Active Play: Promoting physical activity and motor skills development.

The transformation of Unity Stars Nursery was nothing short of magical. Each space was carefully curated to provide a balance of activity, rest, and creativity. The children now have a vibrant, dynamic environment that supports their holistic development. The staff are thrilled with the practicality and flexibility of the furniture. After the successful delivery of our first nursery project, Unity Schools Partnership asked us to return in 2025 to create a second nursery space.

Buddy Benches for Outdoor Connection

Creating safe, supportive spaces where pupils feel seen, included and valued.

Breaktimes can be overwhelming for some children. Buddy benches and welldesigned outdoor seating areas offer gentle social support by creating a clear, welcoming place for pupils to go when they would like company, friendship or a moment to reset.

These seating zones encourage kindness, build confidence and help schools promote positive play relationships.

Designed to be durable, easy to maintain and suitable for all ages, our outdoor seating options help pupils feel connected and included every day.

Allows pupils who find initiating conversation difficult to communicate their need for connection in a simple, familiar way!

Why Buddy Benches Matter

• Supports emotional wellbeing and confidence

• Encourages empathy and kindness between pupils

• Gives children a clear and safe sign to express when they need connection

• Reduces feelings of isolation or anxiety during breaktimes

• Works effectively for SEND and neurodivergent pupils who benefit from clear social cues and calm meeting points

Unity Stars - Norton Road

New nursery transformation

Unity Schools Partnership approached us with the brief to create a brand-new nursery space designed to support children from babies through to preschool. The vision was to achieve a high-end, calming environment rooted in muted tones and natural finishes.

Working closely with Nursery Manager Laurel Parry, our Furniture Project Manager Emma Mather, delivered a tailored furniture solution across three key areas: The Babies Room, the Toddler Room and the Nursery Garden.

Completed over a six-month period, the transformation created an environment where children felt secure, stimulated, while staff could work with ease and confidence.

The Babies Room featured a sand and water station, mirrored play trays, and an activity kitchen in neutral, earthy tones. These resources encouraged sensory exploration and safe mobility. Visit www.hertsfullstop.co.uk/furniture

In the Toddler Room, flexible storage, a large cosy cove, and a dressing up unit created a layout that was both engaging and adaptable. Children were able to explore with curiosity and independence.

Outdoors, the Nursery Garden came to life with natural wood textures and multi-sensory play pieces such as the sand and water station, chalkboard panels, and crawl tunnels. These elements encouraged physical activity, creativity, and social play.

At the heart of this project was a shared commitment to excellence in early years environments, and we were proud to bring Unity Schools Partnership’s vision to life. We work closely with the majority of their 39 schools to provide educational resources, who actively order from us on a regular basis.

The muted, nature-inspired palette used throughout the spaces brought a sense of harmony and warmth. It supported emotional wellbeing and helped create a truly nurturing atmosphere for both children and teachers.

Our Project Manager Robert Cox helped us update our school furniture, making it a brighter and nicer environment for our pupils to learn whilst meeting our budget requirements.

We’re now also in line with EN1729 standards, with regards to sizing and posture of our chairs.

Library

By creating innovative breakout spaces and modern contemporary designs, libraries can become inspiring places to learn

Our library space has been completely transformed and is now a space in which children’s love and passion for reading flourishes.

Parents have mentioned what an incredible library we have and have asked for photos to show family and friends.

Richard de Clare Community Academy Library revamp

The new Headteacher at Richard de Clare contacted HFS to help give their school library the ‘WOW’ factor. A key part of the brief was ensuring the room theme complimented the school’s maroon uniform. We delivered colourful chairs and modern tables to help engage and inspire. The key focal point to the library was the feature tree to help create an inviting and homely environment for pupils.

The service we received was faultless. I would have no hesitations to recommend or use HFS for further school improvement projects. First class service resulting in a stunning library.

BEAM

Transforming BEAM Café Bar

At the heart of Hertford lies a cultural gem, BEAM. BEAM comprises of a Theatre, Cinema and Community spaces. BEAM, previously Hertford Theatre reopened at the end of August and was closed for a complete revamp. We were honoured to be part of this major project to help remodel its café bar. The vision was clear: create a space that not only serves as a functional café but also embodies the theatre’s rich history and future aspirations.

Debbie Power, our Furniture Project Manager, headed this project from concept through to reality. The process began with securing the perfect standalone furnishings, to complement the theatre’s remodelled interior.

HFS arranged a visit to the Clerkenwell Design Centre in London, to provide stakeholders with the opportunity to gather inspiration for trending furniture styles and to allow BEAM to communicate their ideas to achieve a more cohesive result.

The chosen furnishings were statements of style and comfort. Dining chairs and coffee tables were strategically selected, to offer visitors a comfortable and inviting environment. Low seating and coffee tables were positioned to provide a perfect vantage point over the scenic river, adding an element of relaxation to the café bar experience.

The new Screen and Kitchen bar are now a cherished part of BEAM, a vibrant space where the community can gather, relax, and enjoy. The new facilities have attracted a diverse audience, from theatre-goers and movie enthusiasts to artists and event organisers. By prioritising inclusivity and versatility, our project team successfully created a dynamic hub that will continue to serve and inspire the community for years to come.

Our Project Manager Debbie Power was supportive and excellent at communication.

The transformation of BEAM Café Bar was an exciting project for HFS, allowing us to blend functionality with style to create a vibrant and welcoming space. By carefully selecting furniture that enhances comfort and atmosphere, we’re proud to have played a key role in shaping a space where the community can connect and enjoy.

School Hall Wall Art

St Catherine’s CofE Primary School is in Ware, Hertfordshire. The school is an exciting and stimulating learning environment with strong Christian values, for children aged from 4-11.

The brief was for the backdrop of the school hall, to be inspiring and eye catching.

Canteen & Library Wall Art

Wilbury School, a member of the Agora Learning Partnership offers learning to children aged 7 – 11.

The school repurposed its previously unused computer area into an impressive library for their pupils. The canteen now has impactful messaging that promotes the school’s ethos and values.

The wall art has been warmly received and spoken of positively by staff, pupils and parents. It provides opportunities for learning & engagement, promoting values and also improves the environment for pupils. HFS proved to be cost effective and provided artwork that matched our ideas.
