NATIONAL TRUST II

For spring 2026, Sanderson introduces its second collaboration with the National Trust, celebrating Brockhampton Estate in Herefordshire. Marking 600 years of the estate and 75 years of its care under the Trust, the collection draws on Brockhampton’s living heritage, from its medieval manor to its flourishing orchards and blossoming trees.

At the heart of Brockhampton lies the largest orchard cared for by the National Trust, where apples, pears and damsons burst into clouds of blossom each spring. The estate’s revival of its Victorian lost orchards, it’s stewardship of protecting the native birds and its wildflower meadows – all find expression in designs that feel quintessentially Sanderson.

Across a series of prints embroideries and weaves, Sanderson designers in the studio have hand-painted designs like Paradise Woods, interpreting an archival Toile du Jouy design in line with the Trust’s contemporary conservation work of the birds, featuring house martins, finches, and more.

In Spring Meadows, Brockhampton Estate’s wildflower meadows are beautifully embroidered – bee orchids, bluebells, yellow rattles, among others.

Other designs take their inspiration within the medieval 14th century manor at Brockhampton Estate with its Jacobean furnishings, where embroideries like Harvest Fruits, are worked in various techniques in the style of crewel embroidery Each design honours the heritage of Brockhampton Estate’s history, while looking forward to its future, shaped by craft, care, and conservation.

From the sale of the Sanderson x National Trust Volume II collection, a minimum of £95,000 will go to the National Trust to help look after nature, beauty and history for everyone, for ever.

BARNEBY STRIPE

A timeless classic, Barneby Stripe features a decorative herringbone stripe with contrasting colours. Woven in 100% cotton, it is suitable for upholstery and a variety of other uses.

BROCKHAMPTON ESTATE

Hand-drawn in the studio, the Brockhampton Estate jacquard takes inspiration from archival toile documents to depict scenes from the estate and its surrounding landscape. The design features the ‘Hereford Bull’ trow boat, once used to carry fruit and cider down the Rivers Severn and Wye, alongside the timber-framed manor house and its gatehouse, dating to the late 14th century. Herefordshire sheep also appear, a nod to the estate’s traditional farming practices, where they help tread wildflower seeds into the soil to encourage growth.

COBNUT STRIPE

Depicting the cobnut trees once harvested in abundance at Brockhampton Estate, this broad stripe features climbing branches embroidered along a running stitch. The dense, dry-textured embroidery gives the design a tactile, crafted quality, embroidered on a 100% cotton base.

HARVEST FRUITS

Birds fly, pears hang, a caterpillar crawls – these playful embroidered vignettes sit within the scalloped framework of Harvest Fruits. Worked in a Jacobean style of crewel embroidery, the archival design draws on the period character of Brockhampton Manor and its orchards, depicting pear trees alongside bees and butterflies.

Trails of gently curving stems and unfurling blooms make up Habington. Named after the family who once lived at Brockhampton Estate, this Jacobean floral design was inspired by the crewel work displayed within the manor. Inspired by the National Trust’s restoration of Brockhampton’s orchards, Lost Orchard is a richly textural jacquard that traces the winding paths once found across the estate. Apple, pear and medlar trees are depicted alongside birds, badgers and sheep in a tapestry-like weave that recalls medieval samplers and marginalia. Playfully naïve in character, the design evokes a bird’s-eye view of the orchard’s gentle curves and quatrefoil forms, celebrating its renewed growth and abundance.

Thought to have been originally hand-painted, the document carries a painterly looseness. Its mid-scale repeat makes it an especially versatile design.

PARADISE WOODS TOILE

Named after the woodland within Brockhampton Estate, Paradise Woods reimagines archival toile drawings with native birds of the estate including House Martins, Finches, Song Thrushes, Jays and Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers. Hand-painted in the studio, the design is arranged along climbing, trailing branches in a style reminiscent of a French copperplate toile de Jouy.
