Drawing inspiration from the extraordinary flora and fauna of Highgrove Gardens, a series of gardens restored, nurtured and transformed over 45 years by His Majesty King Charles III, Highgrove by Sanderson is an enchanting collection of wallpapers, fabrics, weaves, embroideries and stripes.

Designed by Sanderson and developed in close collaboration with Highgrove and in partnership with The King’s Foundation, the pleasure and joy experienced through the soul of each connecting garden is honoured in Highgrove by Sanderson and reflective of King Charles III’s passion and commitment to the gardens, known affectionately as ‘rooms’. Sanderson has delved into its 165-year-old archive to bring to the fore original archival documents and reimagine classic layouts. These scenic and sustainable rooms, a haven for a rich variety of plant life, are elegantly translated, refined and layered into thoughtful new designs.

Frilled edge ferns, ancient apple trees heavily laden with fruits, and jubilant delphiniums appear within this exquisite collection. From the inspiring colour palettes of the cottage garden to the Japanese maple avenues, Italian fountains, and an array of gifted treasures from all corners of the world, this collection is an organic blend of culturally inspired designs, from damasks to toiles, tapestries to garden plans and archive florals. To complement, Highgrove by Sanderson Stripes is a beautiful coordinating collection of luxury, heavyweight fabrics woven in Italyclassic and timeless.

Exquisitely layered, Highgrove by Sanderson is a captivating decorative story of these distinct gardens, told through heritage designs with a lightness of touch, a flavour of global travel and a respect for history and nature in harmony.

All designs are created in the Sanderson studio, and all printed fabrics and wallpapers are made in our historic UK factories.

SANDERSON AND ITS WORK WITH THE KING’S FOUNDATION

Highgrove by Sanderson, inspired by the natural beauty and design ethos of Highgrove Gardens, has been developed in close partnership with The King’s Foundation, a charity founded by King Charles III, which builds and supports communities where people, places and the planet can coexist in harmony.

The custodian of Highgrove Gardens, The King’s Foundation was formed in 1990. Inspired by King Charles III’s vision and values, the charity offers education courses for almost 15,000 students annually and health and wellbeing programmes for nearly 2,000 people every year. It also spearheads placemaking and regeneration projects in the UK and overseas to revitalise communities and historic buildings.

All the proceeds from Highgrove Garden tours go back into the work of The King’s Foundation, which in turn funds the charity’s education programmes in traditional heritage skills. Revenue from Highgrove by Sanderson will further fund The King’s Foundation programmes.

The collection stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and a reflection of the importance of nature in every facet of life. Highgrove and Sanderson celebrate a shared commitment to craftsmanship, heritage, and sustainability, which is demonstrated through the work The King’s Foundation does and Sanderson’s Live Beautiful ethos.

HIGHGROVE TOILE

Taken from an authentic archival toile document, iconic Highgrove features have been added to this design, including yew tree hedges, pots, the Oak Summer House, a topiarised English yew, King Charles III’s bust, and the circular stone seat made of Derbyshire gritstone by masons from Hereford Cathedral, which the Bannermans designed. Each detail has been meticulously drawn and painted to master the handwriting and composition, seamlessly blending old and new.

The Carpet Garden is a luscious walled garden inspired by an original sketch by King Charles III and based on a Turkish carpet at Highgrove. The sketch’s geometric shapes and colours translates into a vibrant living garden at Highgrove, which received the Silver Gilt Medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The Carpet Garden wallpaper mural encapsulates Highgrove’s global spirit and the magnificent Carpet Garden for which it is named (sometimes called Paradise Garden). Depicting Moroccan tiles, lime-washed pots, and abundant florals amongst citrus and olive trees and Italian cypress, the mural is a realistic interpretation of this wondrous garden. Mature cork oak trees, Indian chairs, and Moorish lanterns scattered throughout also feature.

Ensuring nothing goes to waste, life springs and ferns sprout and flourish from the cracks and seams. Home to mysterious figures and sculptures, The Stumpery design includes a classic temple built from green oak, a thatched treehouse, a wall of gifts made from gifted stones to His Majesty, and the Wood Nymph, ‘Goddess of the Wood’.

WILDFLOWER MEADOW

Highgrove’s Wildflower Meadow has a vital role in supporting the diverse organic life of the garden. Following the discovery of a French archive document reminiscent of the Wildflower Meadow’s meandering serpentine path, the artwork was adapted to include acer trees, Japanese maples and beehives, a gift from Fortnum & Mason that is of the utmost importance to the gardens’ sustainability. Meadow flowers, including fritillaries, are joined by muntjac deer and sheep, who graze the meadow seasonally to help with growth, mischievous foxes, and regal pheasants.
