Inspired by the rich traditions of Indian textile design, Clarke & Clarke presents Indira, a collection of fabrics and wallpapers that celebrates the beauty of pattern and colour.

Named after the Sanskrit word for beautiful, Indira brings the spirit of traditional woodblock printing into the contemporary home with a modern take on ancient craft styles that are nostalgic, timeless, and sophisticated, revealing a collection of easy-to-use small-scale designs across fabric and wallpaper.

Many of the designs are sourced from original woodblocks and archive drawings, carefully preserved at Standfast & Barracks factory in Northern England. The collection includes delicate floral motifs like Buta and Gamthi, as well as more abstract and rhythmic designs with a hand-crafted sensibility.

At its heart is Kerala, a handed painted dreamlike panel, capturing the lush landscapes of South India, from swinging monkeys to distant mountains.

Meeting the demand for coordinating prints, Clarke & Clarke reveals digital prints, embroideries and textural stripes in the softest textures and most vibrant hues, complemented by coordinating wallpapers for a timeless yet eclectic interpretation of India’s design heritage.

Contemporary hues uplift traditional techniques in Indira, designed and produced here in the UK.

Kerala is hand painted, dreamlike interpretation of the South Indian landscape – featuring monkeys swinging from lush trees, ancient ruins, beaches, waters, and distant mountains. Lush and verdant, with a washed, expressive quality, Kerala offers an immersive panel that invites you to escape.

HANGING INSTRUCTIONS

This design is made up of four 300cm high drops of wallpaper, supplied and printed as one continuous roll measuring 68.5cm in width. The individual drops are indicated by a cut line for ease of hanging.

This wallcovering is printed digitally onto a non-woven base, which is strong and flexible, allowing the wall to be pasted rather than the substrate itself.

The wallcovering can be tailored to room height by removing any excess from the top and/or bottom of each length.

To achieve the best result we recommend the use of a professional decorator experienced in hanging wide width papers.
