Dance

Registration open for 2022-2023 season SAN ANTONIO – Back-to-school also means back to dance classes! Dance registration for 2022-2023 is open online through the Hermann Sons Life website home page. Dance Coordinator Tammi Sutherland and her staff of dance teachers have been busy preparing for another year of classes and recitals. A training workshop for the instructors was held July 30 at the Home Office. “We had a successful workshop, and our teachers are excited to get started,” Tammi said. “It’s always exciting to see what the new dance class year will bring,” Vice President of Member Benefits Cecily Kelly said. “And we look forward with such anticipation to the annual year-end recitals to see what all the dancers have learned. And it’s not all work. The students enjoy meeting new friends, taking part in socials during holidays and participating in special performances as well.” Informational brochures with registration instructions were mailed to households with eligible juniors who have not previously registered. An email was sent to returning dancers. There are currently 22 schools located in South and Central Texas. Dance locations are provided in the brochure and on the website. The brochure provides detailed instructions on how to register online for dance classes. Parents should note that if they created a Class Juggler account to register a camper or have registered a dancer previously, they will not have to create a new account. However, they will have to use the new dance password only provided in the

brochure or email. The benefit is available to policyholders who will be 3 to 17 years of age as of Sept. 1, 2022, and whose life insurance premiums and dues are current. This member benefit is designed to teach the art of dance in a wholesome atmosphere of fun, work, physical exercise and fellowship. Each school of dance teaches varying degrees of tap, ballet and jazz. Because dance classes are a member benefit, there is no monthly tuition. However, there is a one-time registration fee. This fee is determined by the school to help pay for facilities and cover day-to-day operational costs. The amount of the fee varies from school to school. That fee will be paid at the time of registration. This fee is only refundable prior to the start of dance classes. The Home Office also collects an assessment fee at the time of registration that helps offset operational costs the Home Office covers for all schools. This fee is nonrefundable. Each teacher is an employee of Hermann Sons Life. The teacher(s) are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the school. Parents can volunteer in various capacities, including serving as class monitors, working on fund-raising projects and helping with recital. A background check is required for all volunteers. The background check form is available through the school of dance teacher. Deadline to register is Oct. 1. Most classes begin after Sept. 1. Tammi can be reached at the Home Office at 800-234-4124, ext. 239 or 210-226-9261, ext. 239. For policy and membership information, call 877-437-6266.
