Camp seeking volunteers for workday By IAN BRASSETT Executive Camp Director Enrollment is open for summer Camp 2023! We are all very excited about this upcoming summer. Based upon the early enrollments…so are you! The Camp enrollment process has been moved from the Home Office to the Camp office in Comfort. Please bear with us as we adjust to new procedures. As always, if you have any questions, please email them to camp@ hermannsonslife.org or call 830995-3223. On the maintenance side of things, we have been very busy preparing the camps. At Riverside, three bathrooms are undergoing the final touches of a major renovation. The youngest campers in the Jackrabbit, Mosquito and Catfish cabins will love them! Brand new water soften-

ers have been installed at the Riverside and Hilltop kitchens. The shade structure on Riverside for softball has been completed. Speaking about maintenance, the Volunteer Workday is scheduled for Saturday, April 22. This is a great opportunity for Her-

mann Sons Life members to really help get the Camp sites in tip-top condition for the summer. There will be jobs for all skill levels including painting, cleaning, yard work and much more. The workday begins at 9 a.m. Please email ianb@hermann-

sonslife.org if interested. We’d love to see you and certainly can use your help removing some of the dirt build up that only camps seem to be able to produce. See CAMP, Pg. 7

Chili cook-off raises funds for scholarships Hermann Sons Life Agent Brad Klein of Georgetown checks on his chili during the Retirement Home Chili and Pinto Bean Cook-off held March 11 in Comfort. Brad placed fifth in the amateur competition with his recipe. The event is sanctioned by the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI). In addition to the cook-off, teams were judged for showmanship honors and a raffle was held. Proceeds are used for four $1,500 scholarships presented to eligible junior members. See winners and more photos on Pages 9 and 10.
