Thank you for joining us for our very first winter season at the Rose McQueen stage.
In a time when it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the weight of the world, our winter season offers something quietly radical: hope. Not the glossy kind that promises escape or resolution, but the kind that comes from staying with the trouble (as scholar Donna Haraway writes) and learning to work with what’s right in front of us.
Here For Now Theatre gratefully acknowledges the support of:
Foundation Sponsor: The William and Nona Heaslip Foundation
Season Sponsor:

Each play in this season invites us into that practice. Pandora weaves myth and quantum theory into a deeply personal search for meaning in the face of uncertainty. Reproduktion imbues the painful, often unspoken realities of infertility with dark humour and unflinching honesty. And Ruby and the Reindeer reminds us—through memory, laughter, and a bit of Christmas magic—that healing doesn’t come from forgetting the past, but from carrying it differently.
These stories remind us that hope is something we make—not by avoiding the mess, but by moving through it with our eyes wide open.

“...often hilarious, otherworldly in its wisdom, and affirming of life on earth as both an eons-long epic and a momentary blip in a grand, ongoing experiment…”

This production is a presentation of the world premiere, which was co-produced by Prairie Theatre Exchange and Shakespeare in the Ruins in 2023.
You remember Pandora, right?
She who opened the box, unleashed all the evils of mankind … that whole thing?
Well, she’s really sorry. But the more questions Pandora asks, the more she learns about the actual nature of the universe, quantum entanglement and all. As the worlds collide, the strangest things begin to connect across space and time …

Dramatic comedy
Flora, desperate to become pregnant, travels to her homeland of Sweden to undergo an alternative fertility treatment “guaranteed to reproduce.” As a result of this procedure, a surprising and dangerous transformation occurs, throwing everything Flora thought she knew about herself and the world into question.
By turns funny and moving, Reproduktion examines the ancient imperative to procreate, and how to find meaning in our lives when that primal call goes unanswered.

Would you like to be part of this?
Easy. We have the world’s best donors!
HFN simply wouldn’t exist without the kindness and generosity of our sponsors and donors.
They lifted us up when we were just a few crazy actors performing under a tree during a pandemic. And they continue to support us to this day.
Words fail to express how grateful we are. Obviously we need financial support. But these gifts provide something else that’s just as important.
When you support us, you tell us loud and clear that you believe in what we’re doing. And that you value the place of independent art in your community.
If this sounds like you, please get in touch.

But we know most of you don’t do this for the perks. You do it because you love theatre and find something of value in our work. Which is why every gift receives our undying gratitude. ❤
