Democratic Party of Arkansas elects officers at meeting Little Rock By Chris Weems Michael John Gray, a State Representative and farmer from Augusta was elected chairman of the Democratic Party of Arkansas at the Argenta theater in North Little Rock. Vince Insalaco, North Little Rock, DPA outgoing chair presided for the opening ceremonies. Karen Garvia, Hot Springs, DPA Secretary

presided for the “seating of delegrates.” Chris Burks, DPA Parliamentarian, presided for the nomination and election of officers. Harvy Joe Sanner, DesArc, and Chris Weems, Hazen, re[resented Prairie County as voting delegates. There were 173 delegates in attendance and carrying proxies for a total of 228 votes.

The slate of officers for Democratic Party of Arkansas are: Tyler Clark, Nicole Hart, Michael John Gray, Emily Kearns, Dustin Parsons, and Mosie Boyd. They were sworn into office by Pulaski County Clerk Larry Crane.

Sheriff’s Report The chair of the Democratic Party of Arkansas, Vince Insalaca, North Little Rock, giving his “farewell speech” to Democrats at the Executive Committee and State Committee meeting.

Bethlehem MB Church Hosts Youth Rally The Grand Prairie MBC Youth Rally met March 20, 2017 with the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in DeValls Bluff. Michael Mateja, Youth rally song leader and also acting moderator in absent of moderator, led the congregation in opening song, “Footsteps pf Jesus.” Bro. Jim West led in prayer. Bro. Allen Minton gave the welcome. Congregation sang, “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus.” Three young ladies from Faith MBC sang, “I Want to Know More About My Lord.” Brother Allan West and a young lady from Faith, sang, “Holy, Holy, Holy.” Offering plates were passed around as the congregation sang, “Lord I’m Coming Home.” This offering will go support the youth camp, Bud Creek. The youth of Bethlehem, and youth leaders, Bro. Bryan and Sister Laura Fricker, and Bro. Allen, presented a program,

“John 2:16. God’s Plan.” Each person gave a part, God’s Love, God’s Gift, God’s Plan, and God’s Promise. Then they sang “Salvation.” Those in the program were Lacy Rogers, River Brown, Hayden Rogers, Zoey Anderson, and Andrew Fricker. A devotional was given by Bro. Allen Minton followed by an invitational song, “Does Jesus Care.” Sarah Beth Toll, secretary, read the minutes. The churches present were, Bethlehem, Center Point, Faith, Calvary/Stuttgart, Calvary/Hazen, Morris Chapel, Clarendon and Lake Side. Total attendance was 69. There were nine preachers present. Faith won the banner. The next youth rally will be April 17, 7:30 p,m,, at Calvary MBC at Stuttgart. The preachers were called to the front and they sang, “Saved By The Blood.” Refreshments were served in the fellowship hall.

HHS Senior receives $63,000 from Memphis College of Art

On March 21 2017 Arkansas Highway Police Officer David Smith and Hazen Chief of Police Bradley Taylor attempted to serve a Prairie County warrant for Felony Residential Burglary on Jeremy Humbert in the city of Biscoe. Jeremy Humber refused to submit to arrest and fled on foot into a wooded area. Jeremy Humbert was a suspect in a burglary at a residence located in Biscoe, that burglary had just been reported to the Prairie County Sheriff’s Department just prior to the incident with Jeremy Humbert. The Tucker Prison tracking dogs, along with the Warden and Correction Officers all travelled to Biscoe and assisted with searching for Jeremy Humbert. Also assisting in the search was officers from the following Agencies: Arkansas State Police, Arkansas Highway Police, Arkansas Game & Fish, DeValls Bluff Police Department, Hazen Police Department, Prairie County Sheriff Rick Hickman and his deputies. Several local citizens from Biscoe also assisted in the search. Unfortunately it became too dark to safely search for the suspect, and the search had to be suspended late that night. Early The Following morning Officer returned to the area and apprehended the suspect hiding in a abandoned house in Biscoe. Prairie County Sheriff’s

Department would like to thank all the assisting agencies that helped to apprehend the suspect. ( Arkansas State Police, Arkansas Highway Police , Arkansas Game & Fish, DeValls Bluff Police Department, Hazen Police Department, The Tucker Prison Warden and his Corrections officers, and all the local citizens that helped. Jeremy Humbert was arrested on a outstanding Felony warrant for Residential Burglary, Bond was set at $35,000 and additional charges are pending. The Prairie County Sheriff's Department on 3/19/2017 located Merle Marie Miller in Loomis Landing area south of DeValls Bluff. Merle Miller was with her son (George Andy Miller) who was arrested on unrelated felony and misdemeanor charges. On March 16th 2017 A Silver Alert was activated for the missing 82-yearold woman from a Woodruff County nursing home.

Praire County Sheriff's Department is happy to report that Merle Miller was located unharmed and has been reunited with her family On March 21 2017 Jeffery Ty Linam was arrested on a outstanding warrant for Furnishing, Possessing, or Using Prohibited Articles , Bond was set at $15,000 On March 22 2017 James Richard Robinson was arrested on a outstanding warrant for Possessing, or Using Prohibited Articles, Bond was set at $25,000 On March 21 2017 Bethany Grady was arrested for 3rd Degree Assault on family or house hold member. On March 18TH 2017 Michael Williams was arrested for 3rd Degree Assault on family or house hold member. Bond was set at $2120 On March 15th 2017 Audrey Marion was arrested for a outstanding warrant for contempt of court, bond was set at $2160
