The Henry County Board of Commissioners approved a budget amendment to the FY 2014-2015 budget in the amount of $302,000 to help fund the Henry County Libraries and the Department of Family and Children Services through the remainder of the fiscal year. The amendment calls for additional funding to the Henry County Library System in the amount of $275,000 and to DFACS in the amount of $27,000. The action also allowed for a budget transfer of $267,889 to combine the Building Department and the Environmental Compliance Department into the Building and Plan Review
Department, and $119,100 for previously approved positions within the department. According to Budget Director Angie Sorrow, the budget needs to be amended periodically so there are no variances in the departmental accounts. District II Commissioner Brian Preston said he was glad to see a solution to the library system’s budgetary shortfall. “I know that we have all been talking in a joint effort because we all consider the libraries an asset in the county and I know we’ve had some hard times in trying to move from this and I’m just glad that we were able to come to a resolution,” said District II Commissioner Continued on Page 3 the henry county update
