The IMPACT extrication course Road injury research priority setting We look forward to welcome nearly 30 priority setting workshop participants on 12 November 2025 at Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. We have clinicians, policy makers, patients and public, MOD, road safety organisations and government departments signed up to respond to questions on topics such as: Bystander role, training and psychological impact, AI and technology, Health outcomes, Cultural and gender disparities Specific interventions for trapped patients, Multi-agency working and training. The extrication course, designed to be engaging, user-friendly, and to bring all emergency responders up to date with the latest evidencebased principles of casualty extrication, will launch online on 1 November 2025. Participants will learn to: Apply patient-focused extrication principles, Use endorsed EXIT decision support tools in realistic case scenarios, Challenge outdated or unsafe norms in extrication and adopt approaches that place patient safety and outcomes at the centre of decision-making. The course is aimed at fire and rescue service personnel, police officers, community responders, highways officers, and all clinicians who attend collisions, or who want to refresh their knowledge of contemporary guidance. With scenarios based on national consensus and EXIT project decision tools, the course is grounded in operational reality, but presented in a way that is engaging and accessible to all. It is a unique opportunity to align with the latest guidance, ensuring safer, faster, and more patient-centred outcomes when it matters most.
