The Piedmont Housing Alliance, a non-profit based in Charlottesville, Virginia, rehabbed most of an old, neglected neighborhood near the University of Virginia grounds. This book outlines the very progressive and human-oriented decision-making that led to this exemplary housing and neighborhood rejuvenation. It contrasts with the tragic opposite situation that occurred to the Vinegar Hill neighborhood during the 60s and "urban renewal" fueled by institutional racism.
