Editorial
Bringing employees onboard for success Two truths: First, employees are the greatest asset any company has. Altogether, they constitute a 360-degree perspective on any issue a company could face. Second, within today´s increasingly democratised world the demand for self-definition and equal treatment becomes more and more natural - even in business. As obvious these truths may be, they’re often difficult to put into practice. Are employees truly part of the corporate strategy, mission and vision? Do you truly value your staff? Are all efforts being made to ensure that employees are fulfilled at work? Taking these truths seriously means taking on board a new approach to internal communication strategy, an approach grounded in mutual benefit. On the one hand, companies achieve a richer understanding of their decisions that employees can more readily identify with. They are not only faced with the final result but can now understand the whole process that led to a decision. On the other hand, employees feel more part of their organisation as they participate actively in it as distinct individuals. With this in mind, expert speakers will discuss questions such as how to create a strategy focusing on integrating employees in all varieties of decision processes, and what kind of tools can be used to truly engage and involve employees. In the end, participants will learn how to transform employees into brand ambassadors. Join us in October in Berlin for our fifth conference on internal communications and enjoy fruitful discussions with communications peers from all over Europe.
Sincerely
Peter VoĂ&#x; President, Quadriga University of Applied Sciences

Fostering collaboration during times of organisational change
Introducing a new organisational model to a company is one thing. Ensuring employee buy-in and creating a global mind-set is another entirely. How can you foster integration and inject a collaborative spirit across the organisation despite a widely dispersed workforce and without the budget and resources of a blue chip company? Marjon Schocke, Internal Communications Specialist, SES In 2011 Marjon embarked on a Traineeship at world-leading satellite operator SES while finalising her studies in International Communication Management at the University of The Hague. Now a permanent member of the team, she is responsible for supporting the leadership team, business units and 1250+ international staff across the globe in their communication needs.
Gabriele Hano, General Manager Internal Communications, SES Having worked in several Communications roles within SES for 10+ years, Gabriele today heads the Internal Communications department of the globally operating satellite communications provider. Together with a small team of dedicated IC professionals, she ensures a timely and accurate information flow to SES staff worldwide, advising leadership and business units in communicating effectively across sites and time zones.

How employees can become brand ambassadors A positive employer brand will be conveyed to a large extent by the employees themselves. It was this very aim which led to the implementation of the Brand Academy at juwi. The question, however, is: How do you encourage the staff to be emotionally committed and to reflect a uniform brand awareness both internally and externally? Which tools prove to be suitable for internal brand implementation and employee motivation? These questions will be answered in the course of the workshop.
isabel ihm, Head of Brand Communications & Events, juwi AG Since 2008 Isabel Ihm has headed the department „Brand Communications & Events“ at juwi AG, one of the leading project developers for renewable energies in Germany. Prior to that she had been working in leading marketing positions in Banking and Finance for over 10 years. For juwi she was responsible, among others, for the global implementation of brand values within the corporation. Moreover, Isabel Ihm is a certified Business Trainer, Business Coach and NLP-Trainer.
2:30–4:00 pm Workshop II

Jim Donaldson, Executive Vice-President, Corporate Communications, Weber Shandwick Jim Donaldson is one of Weber Shandwick’s leading corporate communications advisers with over 25 years’ experience in the industry. 2:30–4:00 pm Workshop III
The Social Intranet Most companies have a well-established intranet that provides their employees with basic information and important updates. But is this static resource really what employees want and, more importantly, is it what they need in order to function as external brand ambassadors? In this session, learn what it takes to make an intranet truly social, from enabling everyone to create content to creating opportunities to connect and interact with colleagues across the organisation.
