Introduction
This project explores urban form and the principle of typology and the city. Ideas about form, space and order are investigated at the urban scale and the relation between the following elements tested: grid, frame, centre, edge, front, back, façade. Those elements produce an urban logic that incorporates ideas about circulation, extension, repetition, mirroring, difference, urban edge, inside, outside, inhabitation, programme, view, the type.
The site is organised into plots of 9m x 18m. The corners modify the typical condition. See plan over page.
You are asked to explore the meaning and limits of the tenement as a type in architecture, by iteratively drawing and making plans, sections, elevations, axonometric projections and scale models. There are three elements to this project:
