Introduction
This project is an urban analysis. There are two overarching scales to the analysis: a distant one that looks at the urban and territorial scale; and a near one that looks at the site scale. At the territorial scale Kowloon City District is understood as a gridded core bounded by lines of infrastructure (MTR line, East Kowloon Corridor, Fat Kwong Street Flyover). To the north and south are variations on the grid creating a confluence of grid typologies across the city.Only small areas of public parks as “green islands” are randomly found between the largely dense urban fabric. The long line of Ma Tau Chung Road, Ma TauWai Road, and MTR Line run along the edge of To Kwa Wan area from the Kowloon City in the north to Hung Hom in the south.
