As the theme of this Annual Report states, Heep Hong Society remained steadfast in its mission of “True to Our Purpose, Advance with Resolve” during the past year. Regardless of circumstances, we held firmly to our commitment, serving children and young people with diverse needs and their families with professionalism and compassion. We continued to help them realise their potential while working across sectors to build a truly inclusive community.
2024-25 marked the 10th anniversary of our On-site Pre-school Rehabilitation Service. To commemorate this milestone, the Society hosted a seminar bringing together local and overseas experts to exchange insights and explore the future of inclusive education. Our Get Ready for Preterm Babies – Preterm Babies & Parents Project continued to grow, enabling premature infants to receive timely and appropriate support. Additionally, the “Stars” Talent School officially opened, and with expanded course offerings at the Heep Hong Talent School, even more SEN children now have opportunities to unlock their potential through arts and sports.
We are equally committed to preparing SEN children to embrace their future with their talents and skills after leaving school. The Society provided employment training and internship opportunities during 2024-25 through initiatives including the Co-creation Programme and Project A.C.T. –Career Guidance and Transition Support for High School ASD Students. These programmes support young people in exploring different career paths, building self-confidence, and finding their direction. In addition, we have partnered with businesses to organise experiential and exchange activities, allowing young people to experience first-hand society’s acceptance and support. These initiatives also encouraged more employers and community members to embrace inclusive values and, in doing so, empower SEN children to spread their wings.
The love and commitment of families form the vital foundation of every child’s life. Recognising the crucial role carers play in children’s development, we stood alongside parents this past year through parenting education, support activities, and advocacy platforms. The Heep Hong Parents’ Association continued to unite parents, enabling them to support one another and face challenges together. During the year, the Society also launched the Appreciation Campaign for Carers of Children with Special Educational Needs, recognising the perseverance and dedication of carers while raising public awareness of the selfless contribution of families.
We have always believed that only through continuously enhancing our professional standards can we effectively respond to the evolving needs of families and society. In 2024-25, the Society co-organised the International Conference on ADHD and sent representatives to present research findings at the World Confederation for Physical Therapy Congress in Tokyo, showcasing our professional expertise on the international stage. Our Academy for Professional Education and Development (APED) organised nearly 100 courses, benefitting over 1,500 participants and driving the continued growth of the sector. We also actively expanded professional exchanges and training throughout Greater China, advancing pre-school rehabilitation and inclusive education across the region.
Looking forward, Heep Hong Society will continue to respond to the evolving needs of families and society, remaining steadfast in our mission despite challenges. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Hong Kong SAR Government, our corporate partners, donors, and all members of the Society for their unwavering support. We look forward to continuing our partnerships across all sectors to foster a brighter future for children and young people with SEN and their families.
During 2024-25, the Heep Hong Society team continued to uphold our core values of care and professionalism. We drove forward high-quality and innovative services that respond to the diverse needs of children and youth with special educational needs (SEN) along with their families. Through cross-sector collaboration and international exchange, we opened up more pathways and possibilities, staying true to our commitment to remain at the forefront of service development.
We believe that professional excellence grows through knowledge sharing and innovation. During the year, we organised conferences and seminars featuring experts from overseas and the Mainland, such as the On-site Pre-school Rehabilitation Services Seminar and the Seminar of Support for Behavioral and Emotional Difficulties of Children with Autism. These platforms fostered professional exchange and encouraged in-depth discussion on emerging trends in inclusive education and behavioural intervention. Our team also presented evidence-based training outcomes at the International Conference on ADHD, promoting dialogue between local and international professionals. 2024-25 also marked the 10th anniversary of the On-site Pre-school Rehabilitation Services (OPRS). It was a significant milestone celebrating our ongoing commitment to supporting young children with SEN and their families.
Every child possesses unique strengths and potential. The Heep Hong Talent School is dedicated to nurturing these strengths and enabling children to grow through their interests. In February, the newly established "STARs" Talents School held its Opening Ceremony cum Tennis Competition and Fun Day, with the full support of the Hong Kong, China Tennis Association. Through tennis, art and karate workshops, children explored new interests, built confidence and developed social skills in a joyful atmosphere that truly showcased the boundless potential of children with SEN.
In youth services, our Occupational Therapy Department partnered with the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University to pilot the Independent Living Skills Programme for Individuals with Special Educational Needs. The findings revealed significant improvements among participants in daily living skills, self-confidence and goal attainment, laying a strong foundation for the future expansion of youth development services. With the support of the Partnership Fund for the Disadvantaged of the Social Welfare Department, we also offered diverse internship opportunities, helping young people explore career directions and prepare for more independent lives.
The growth of every child with SEN is made possible by carers whose dedication and love empower their journey. In response to the Social Welfare Department’s Care the Carers Campaign, we launched the Appreciation Campaign for Carers of Children with Special Educational Needs to honour carers for their selfless contributions. The heartfelt stories of ten outstanding carers deeply moved the community, reminding us that “the perseverance of carers shapes the future of children”, while fostering a culture of empathy and mutual support across society.
We are sincerely grateful to our partner foundations, corporations and donors for their trust and generosity, which enable us to enhance and innovate our services. Major fundraising events, including the 28th Great Chefs of Hong Kong, the Heep Hong Charity Sports Fun Day 2024 and the Let Talent Bloom, Let Futures Shine Charity Concert, united the community to raise resources for parent support and innovative initiatives.
As we look to the future, we will remain steadfast in our commitment and move forward with resolve. Together with our partners and the wider community, we will continue to walk alongside children and families with SEN, transforming every act of care into a light that illuminates their path to a brighter and more inclusive tomorrow.

Heep Hong Society has been walking alongside children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) throughout their developmental journey, from early childhood to youth, providing practical and heartfelt support at every life stage. • On-site Pre-school Rehabilitation Services Seminar – Pathway to Inclusive Early Childhood Education: Challenges & Opportunities
The Society launched Early Intervention and Integrated Support for Kindergarten Students with SEN Pilot Scheme in 2014. With its regularisation by the Government in 2018, the programme has supported more than 10,000 children with SEN each year. On 13 June 2025, the Society organised “On-site Pre-school Rehabilitation Services Seminar – Pathway to Inclusive Early Childhood Education: Challenges & Opportunities” at the Hong Kong Metropolitan University.
Guest speakers included Dr Shirley Soh, Assistant Director (Early Childhood and Inclusive Practices) of Kindle Garden Preschool, Singapore, and Dr Su Hui-ching, Assistant Professor of the Department of Childhood Education and Enterprise Management at Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology. Together with Mr Vergo Cheng, educational psychologist of the Society, they explored practical experiences and support models in implementing inclusive education.

• 支援自閉症兒童行為情緒困難—多元介入策略 講座
本會於2025年4月12日舉辦「支援自閉症兒童 行為情緒困難—多元介入策略講座」，邀得著名 的兒童發展行為專家、中山大學鄒小兵教授分享 Behavioral-Structured-Relationship Model (BSR)干預 模式的理論與實踐。本會教育心理學家徐婉庭女士及 職業治療師張媚女士亦以真實個案，講解本會如何以 跨專業協作及實證策略為本的訓練，支援不同能力之 自閉症兒童。
• Seminar of Support for Behavioral and Emotional Difficulties of Children with Autism – Multi-Intervention Strategies
On 12 April 2025, the Society held the Seminar of Support for Behavioral and Emotional Difficulties of Children with Autism –Multi-Intervention Strategies. Renowned child development and behavioural expert, Professor Zou Xiao-bing from Sun Yat-sen University, introduced the Behavioral-Structured-Relationship (BSR) Model, providing insights into both its theoretical foundations and practical applications. Educational psychologist Ms Natalie Tsui and occupational therapist Ms May Cheung also shared real case examples, illustrating how we employs cross-disciplinary collaboration and evidence-based approaches to support children with autism across a spectrum of abilities.

• International Conference on ADHD
An international conference on ADHD was hosted at the Grand Hall, Centennial Campus of the University of Hong Kong on 2 November 2024. It was delivered by a group of global and local experts, with the theme Bridging Gaps focusing on research evidence, ADHD management, stakeholder empowerment and advocacy. Heep Hong Society was invited as a co-organiser and presented its Support Programme for ADHD Children during one of the parallel workshops, sharing intervention approaches and outcomes with participants.

In May 2025, four physiotherapists from Heep Hong attended the World Physiotherapy Congress 2025 in Tokyo to exchange paediatric rehabilitation experiences with global experts. They showcased two clinical research projects: The use of a humanoid robot (NAO) to enhance motor imitation skills in children with autism spectrum disorder through group training; and the application of soft robotic exosuit in routine treadmill training to improve walking gait in children with cerebral palsy.

• Greater Bay Area Rehabilitation and Inclusive Education Exchange Tour
In March 2025, the Society organised an exchange tour to the Greater Bay Area, visiting six rehabilitation and inclusive education institutions in Shenzhen, Dongguan, and Guangzhou. Participants gained valuable insights into the Mainland’s developments in preschool inclusive education, services for children with special needs, diagnostic and therapeutic practices, and family support. Colleagues noted the rapid advancement of rehabilitation services on the Mainland and found the trip highly rewarding.

Leveraging Technology and Social Media to Enhance Service Effectiveness
• Online Reading and Writing Group Training Course
Online Reading and Writing Group Training Course developed by the Supportive Learning Project provides reading and writing support for children who experience learning difficulties in literacy. The programme enables children and parents to participate in interactive and engaging sessions with instructors and peers from home. Through learning language elements and common vocabulary used in lower primary school, the programme helps children build interest in language learning and adapt more effectively to the Chinese curriculum. Parents expressed highly positive feedback on the programme’s effectiveness.

• Get Ready for Preterm Babies Launches Instagram Account to Support Preterm Infants and Parents
Get Ready for Preterm Babies comprises a multidisciplinary team of social workers, allied health professionals, and nurses, offering comprehensive support for families with premature babies aged from birth to three years. The programme enhances parents’ carer knowledge and confidence, and provides individualised intervention plans for infants with potential developmental concerns. In 2024, the programme launched an Instagram account @hhs_preemie, sharing information on preterm infant care and programme activities to strengthen connection with parents and their little “fighters,” fostering mutual support and encouragement.

Ching Tin Centre Integrates Immersive Interactive Wall
Heep Hong Society Shanghai Fraternity Association Ching Tin Centre held its opening ceremony on 17 May 2025. Designed with the theme of “home,” the centre incorporates innovative technology to enhance the learning experience. A large immersive interactive wall in the lobby provides multisensory training opportunities for children, while classrooms are equipped with portable virtual reality systems that facilitate self-care and cognitive training anytime and anywhere.

• 「吾讀吾識」線上讀寫支援平台獲「至善獎」 • iRead & iLearn Online Resource Platform Receives “Champions for Good Awards”
Early signs of reading and writing difficulties can already be detected in children at the K1 level. Heep Hong Society Jockey Club iRead & iLearn Support Programme online platform offers screening and training recommendations. Parents can complete an online questionnaire to receive personalised intervention advice and digital resources for their children. The initiative has won the Gold Award in the Excellence in Children and Youth Service Award category at the first Champions for Good Awards organised by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, in recognition of its innovative and effective support for children at risk of literacy difficulties.

Launching New Services to Provide Comprehensive Support for Children with SEN
• A SoundPath Project – Supporting Children with Autism and Hearing Impairment
With funding from the Koo’s Giving Charitable Foundation, the A SoundPath Project, organised by the Phonak Hearing Centre Hong Kong, invited Heep Hong Society as one of the collaborating partners. Our speech therapists conducted preliminary screenings for children with autism who may have hearing difficulties and referred suitable cases for free audiological assessments and hearing aid fitting services, thereby improving their daily communication and quality of life.
Representatives from partnering organisations and the Koo’s Giving Charitable Foundation took a group photo at the kick-off ceremony.
• Building a SEN-Friendly Environment at the Airport
The Society collaborated with the Airport Authority Hong Kong to host four seminars on “Understanding the Challenges of Individuals with Autism and ADHD: Multisensory Strategies for Support”.
The sessions covered characteristics of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD, sensory processing challenges, and the use of multisensory rooms for emotional and behavioural regulation. These seminars strengthened frontline staff’s confidence and competence in supporting individuals with special needs, laying a solid foundation for fostering an inclusive culture at the airport. In addition, our Occupational Therapy Department provided professional advice on the design of the terminal’s multisensory room and airport signage. The new facilities will offer a more comfortable, SEN-friendly space for families with special needs.

• Timely Support Programme for Preschoolers with SEN and their Families in Tuen Mun, Yuen Long, and Tin Shui Wai
With the generous donation from the Zimmern Sisters, Timely Support Programme was launched in September 2024 for a two-year period to support SEN children under six years old and their families living in the Tuen Mun, Yuen Long, and Tin Shui Wai districts. A multidisciplinary team provides assessment, training, and parental support, ensuring that families receive timely assistance during their most difficult moments. 在線家長支援

Nurturing Children’s Talents through the Talent School
• Tennis Competition and Fun Day Co-organised with the Hong Kong, China Tennis Association
The Society co-organised the Opening Ceremony of the STARs Talents School cum Tennis Competition and Fun Day with the Hong Kong, China Tennis Association on 22 February 2025 at the Fairview Park Country Club in Yuen Long.
The event featured Hong Kong famous tennis player Ms Lynn Zhang and celebrity ambassador Ms Stephanie Ho. Lynn took part in an exhibition match and joined children in various fun activities. Nearly 300 children and parents participated in a wide range of activities, including tennis, golf, clay art, karate, painting, and yoga sessions, encouraging SEN children to explore their interests and develop their talents.

• Performing at the Hong Kong Palace Museum: Inclusive Arts Showcase
Students from the Heep Hong Talent School’s flute class, together with children from the Heep Hong Society Shanghai Fraternity Association Healthy Kids Kindergarten, were invited to perform at the Harmony in Diversity, Be My Valentine Concert organised by the Hong Kong Arts Without Boundaries Foundation. It was their first performance at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Auditorium of the Hong Kong Palace Museum, where they also had the opportunity to perform collaboratively with other inclusive artists. The experience was deeply inspiring for the children, who expressed excitement and confidence about participating in future performances and cultural exchange activities – continuing to pursue their dreams through performing arts.

• New Violin and Table Tennis Courses
This year, Heep Hong Talent School introduced violin and table tennis classes to further diversify learning opportunities. With the support of G.C.C.I.T.K.D. Cheong Wong Wai Primary School, the table tennis classes were successfully launched, helping students develop an interest in the sport while enhancing their physical fitness, gross and fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and agility.
The violin summer classes, co-organised with the Musical Chaos Foundation, allowing students to learn basic violin skill and music theory while improving their concentration and confidence through the learning process.
Students learnt basic violin techniques and music theory in the class.
Both of Amy’s sons, Wesley (left) and Curtis (right), are on the autism spectrum. They attend tennis, karate, and football classes at the Talents School. Amy was surprised to see Wesley’s empathy and leadership grow through these experiences – he began offering help to classmates and his younger brother, and even volunteered at school and in the community to teach younger children, becoming a responsible young leader.
"I aspire to provide children with SEN a safe and nurturing environment to learn karate, where they can explore their potential and develop a positive sense of self-worth. Our teaching approach involves breaking down task into manageable steps, allowing students to progress gradually and confidently.
Over the past few years of teaching, what I admire most is their passion for things they are interested in and their eagerness to explore. My greatest hope is that their efforts will turn into skills, and that they will learn the spirit of martial arts – respecting others, helping the vulnerable, embracing challenges, cooperating and communicating with others, so that they can ultimately integrate into society with confidence."

"Before taking the class, I thought playing with LEGO simply meant completing a model. I soon realised there are countless creative ways to play. The process involves many subtle techniques that not only develop children’s skills but also strengthen their social abilities –something I have not considered before."
We collaborated with multiple organisations in Chinese Mainland to co-organise professional training programmes. Over the past year, with a focus on South and East China regions while actively expanding to Southwest and Central China, a total of 59 courses were conducted across 23 cities, engaging nearly 1,200 participants and accumulating over 1,300 training hours. Meanwhile, nearly 1,200 participants completed online training courses through the organisation’s online e-course platform.

Over the past year, the Society’s Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, Social Work, and Special Child Care Teacher teams provided clinical supervision and practicum opportunities for 339 tertiary students, contributing to the professional development of future practitioners in the field.
At the invitation of the Macao Education and Youth Development Bureau, our occupational therapists conducted a seminar titled “Understanding Sensory Processing Difficulties and Related Support Strategies” for local educators.
Senior physiotherapist was invited as guest speaker for the Autism Management Seminar organised by the Department of Physiotherapy, S.K. Yee School of Health Sciences, Saint Francis University. During the seminar, our physiotherapy team shared intervention strategies tailored for children with autism spectrum disorder.

Last year Heep Hong Society released e-books as well as various teaching materials and support tools, which have been widely used by professionals and parents.
Heep Hong introduced the e-books Step by Step: A Guide to Enhancing Autistic Children’s Communication Skills and From Attention to Goal on Rakuten Kobo, aiming to deliver high-quality publication to a broader readership.
An revised edition of Decoding Children’s Sensory Behaviour was released, featuring a new chapter on Motor Planning and Coordination Difficulties with QR codes for readers to access home-based training activities.
The Occupational Therapy Department developed Sky-GrassEarth Stamps in three colors – Sky, Grass, and Earth as visual cues to help children better understand letter formation and spacing when writing.
The multi-disciplinary team of the Support Programme for ADHD Children developed a set of executive function cards and the user guidebook. With simple visual cues paired with concise quotes, the cards help children grasp various executive function skills and enable parents to support them in daily life.

The Occupational Therapy Department has developed 3D-printed scissor magnet to support children in maintaining correct posture while using scissors.
Over the past year, our professional team visited more than 120 primary and secondary schools to provide tailored support for students with SEN. Our services included one-on-one guidance, group training, and consultation and training for parents and teachers. These efforts aimed to help SEN students integrate into mainstream school life academically and socially, so they can grow up happy and healthy.
In addition, with the generous support of various foundations, we launched several innovative community-based services to address the developmental needs of children.

Providing diversified support and training for SEN students
To address the needs of secondary students with autism, the group adopted a strengths-based intervention model integrating their interests (such as drones, drama, and traffic route planning) into social skills training. This engaging approach enabled students to learn social communication through activities they enjoy, achieving highly positive results.
In July, the Society held a sharing session to showcase the outcomes of the Strengths-based Group. Students expressed that the group was enjoyable and helped them build social skills and new friendships. The initiative was well received by parents, teachers, and Education Bureau representatives.
• Project A.C.T Successfully Completed
Last year, the Society received funding from Drs. Richard Charles and Esther Yewpick Lee Charitable Foundation to implement Project A.C.T – Career Guidance and Transition Support for High School ASD Students, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Red Swastika Society Tai Po Secondary School. The programme enabled students to gain insight into various careers and improve their work skills and social skills through job simulation and internship experiences. Participants reported that the programme was highly rewarding. A sharing session was held on 14 March 2025 to present the programme’s service model, strategies, and implementation activities, attracting over 100 participants from secondary schools and industry professionals.

• Jockey Club Keen and Active Kids Project (JCKAK)
Now in its third phase, the project provides cross-disciplinary training, knowledge transfer, and evidence-based research for students with ADHD. Research results indicated significant improvement in students’ self-reflection, behaviour management, and impulse control. Both parents and teachers highly commended the effectiveness of the support provided.

In collaboration with The University of Hong Kong, the team held four workshops for over 550 participants on improving organisational skills in students with ADHD.
Commissioned by the Health Bureau since 2021, the scheme provides early identification, intervention, and support for children and youth in the New Territories West suspected of having ADHD, as well as their parents. Over four years, the project received 2,178 enquiries and successfully supported more than 480 families.
Over 90 per cent of participants agreed that the training groups were helpful for both service users and families; 98 per cent found the content practical, and 98 per cent were satisfied with the overall intervention.
• Project Triple A – The Amazing Art for Active Kids completed
Funded by the Health Bureau, this two-year project used expressive arts therapy to support children with ADHD and their parents. Workshops and exhibitions held at The University of Hong Kong and Tuen Mun engaged over 300 members of the public, fostering greater understanding and acceptance of children with ADHD. A total of ten psychoeducation sessions and 20 parent-child expressive arts groups were organised, benefiting more than 350 families. Evaluation findings revealed that 80.9 per cent of parents reported improvement in mother-child relationships, 75.3 per cent in father-child relationships, while 67 per cent of children showed better impulse control and 64.8 per cent improvement in working memory.

Providing Diversified Support and Training for SEN Students
• Project F.E.S. – Financial Education for Students with SEN
Funded by the Investor and Financial Education Council, this programme was launched in May 2025 for primary students with SEN and their carers. It aims to enhance students’ understanding of money management and raise awareness of online financial scam, such as games with gambling elements. Parent groups were also conducted to equip carers with strategies to support their children’s learning and apply effective financial education methods at home.
Children learnt practical skills in money management, saving, and protecting personal belongings.
Under the Supportive Learning Project, a series of AI Robotics Interactive Workshops was organised for SEN students in secondary one to three. Through ten sessions, participants were introduced to AI technologies and experienced the fun of becoming AI engineers. The workshops also helped students enhance their confidence, creativity, and problem-solving abilities, while sparking their interest in STEM.

• Special Education Needs Students On Resilience (S.E.N.S.O.R)
With funding from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Society launched a three-year Special Education Needs Students On Resilience (S.E.N.S.O.R) for students with SEN. Jointly developed by educational psychologists and social workers, and in collaboration with the Department of Psychology at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the programme integrates positive psychology and cognitive behavioural therapy to strengthen the resilience of upper primary students with SEN.
The project has served 16 schools, nearly 280 students, and 45 parents. Over 90 per cent of participating students agreed that the programme supported their personal growth and helped them apply what they had learnt in daily life.

Through learning relaxation techniques, understanding emotions, and identifying “Thought Monsters,” students improved their ability to manage anxiety and regulate emotions.
Currently, more than 67,000 SEN students are studying in mainstream primary and secondary schools across Hong Kong, including around 13,000 with autism spectrum disorder. While many of them demonstrate strong academic potential, they continue to require support in areas such as employment and independent living. The Society remains committed to promoting vocational development, life skills training, and social inclusion – empowering young people with SEN to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives.

• Pilot-testing of an Independent Living Skills Programme for Individuals with Special Educational Needs
Independent living skills are a key indicator of successful transition to adulthood. Between April and September 2024, the Occupational Therapy Department, in collaboration with the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, conducted a 14-session independent living skills training programme for young persons and adults with SEN. A randomised controlled trial (RCT) revealed significant improvements among participants in independent living abilities, self-confidence, and goal achievement compared with the control group.
課程以自我調整學習、自我管理及生活重整為理論基礎， 涵蓋個人、家居、金錢管理及社區適應等範疇。
The programme was based on self-regulated learning, self-management, and lifestyle redesign theories, covering personal management, home management, money management, community integration, etc.
• Minecraft Social Group: Co-building and Inclusion
The STAR Light Centre designed the “Minecraft Social Group: Co-building and Inclusion” to create a relaxed and comfortable social environment for young persons with high-functioning autism. The speech therapist incorporated the “Social Thinking” framework while engaging young people in the popular Minecraft game, aiming at improving participants’ social attention and perspective-taking skills. Students from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University also joined and acted as facilitators, promoting collaboration and communication. The activity effectively strengthened participants’ social engagement, self-confidence, and communication skills.

Partnership Fund for the Disadvantaged Support SEN Youth Employment Training Programme
Funded by Social Welfare Department’s Partnership Fund for the Disadvantaged, Co-Creating Future Pathways for SEN Youth Employment Training Programme launched in April 2025, serving SEN youth and school leavers aged 15 to 25.
The programme offered training in job-seeking skills, beverage and bakery workshops, workplace visits, and internship. Through hands-on learning, participants were able to explore their interests and strengths, helping them to establish career path. During the summer, a one-week vocational exploration programme was organised, enabling participants to visit and undertake placements at workplaces such as teppanyaki restaurants, ramen shops, and florist’s, where they applied their customer service skills in real-life settings.

• A Day as a Starbucks Barista Experience
Supported by the Jockey Club Co-Creation Programme, SEN youth participated in an inclusive coffee workshop hosted by Starbucks. Guided by professional baristas, participants explored the techniques of coffee-making, from understanding coffee origins and roasting techniques to practicing latte art. Through hands-on experience in beverage preparation and customer interaction, the young people discovered their strengths and interests, and also built confidence in teamwork, communication, and inclusive workplace participation.

• Co-Creation Team Attended JPMorgan Chase Bank’s Inclusion Expo
The Co-Creation Team was invited to participate in the ACCESS Ability Inclusion Expo organised by JPMorgan Chase Bank in November. Joining hands with around ten charitable organisations, including Heep Hong Society, the team promoted the values of diversity, equity and inclusion among corporate leaders and employees, fostering deeper understanding and support for inclusive employment.
J.P. Morgan Hong Kong’s CEO, senior management and colleagues from multiple departments participated enthusiastically in the event. The Co-Creation Team hosted an interactive booth introducing the programme’s support model for SEN youth, highlighting the unique workplace strengths of individuals with autism, and showcasing handcrafted products made by the youth. The inclusive band MUSINC also performed live with J.P. Morgan Hong Kong employees, celebrating the power of inclusion and connection through music.

• Labour Department × Ming Pao : Feature on Inclusive Employment
Invited by the Labour Department, Ming Pao published a feature article titled “Uncovering Potential, Growing Through Inclusion”, showcasing how the Jockey Club Co-Creation Programme empowers SEN youth through tailored job design and inclusive workplace practices. The story highlighted Jason, a young employee with autism working at the Shanghai Fraternity Association Yau Lai Centre, demonstrating how personalised job matching and on-the-job coaching can enhance both individual growth and organisational inclusion.

The growth journey of SEN children is filled with challenges. Heep Hong Society harnesses the strength of carers through diverse support initiatives, ensuring that every effort made becomes a driving force to transform children’s futures.
Unlike other carers, those caring for SEN children often begin their role shortly after the child’s birth. There are times of stress and frustration but with right support, they can find strength to face life’s challenges alongside their children. Over the last year, we has focused on enhancing support for carers through the following key initiatives.

• Appreciation Campaign for Carers of Children with Special
Educational Needs
In response to the Social Welfare Department’s Care the Carers Campaign, we held the Appreciation Campaign for Carers of Children with Special Educational Needs to recognise carers selfless contributions. The campaign received 200 nominations, from which a guest judging panel selected ten outstanding carers.
The award ceremony was held on 21 June 2025. We are honored to have Mr Edward To, JP, Director of Social Welfare as the officiating guest. All 32 awardees with their nominators, guest judges, and representatives of sponsoring and supporting organisations joined the occasion to appreciate and encourage carers.

Funded by Green Court Foundation Limited, our social work service for pre-primary institutions held the Children’s Protection Carnival in Sham Shui Po District i n February this year, featuring a variety of activities including student performances, game booths, and a prize presentation for a colouring competition, which attracted over a thousand participants.
Our social work service for pre-primary institutions (Kwun Tong Team) held a carnival in May 2025 to promote awareness of child protection and sex education through game booths.
We place great importance on child protection. Our multidisciplinary team regularly reviews policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure continuous improvement of our safeguarding systems. Management teams across our centres receive ongoing training to strengthen their ability to address children’s emotional and behavioural needs using positive, supportive approaches. This training is also extended to all frontline staff. In response to the Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse Ordinance, we require all relevant staff to complete the government’s online child protection course. This deepens their understanding of the legislation and the high-risk factors associated with child abuse, ensuring children are protected from harm. Additionally, our social work services for pre-primary institutions actively promote child protection messages, reinforcing our commitment to safeguarding children at every level.
From May to August this year, our social work service for pre-primary institutions in collaboration with Save the Children Hong Kong, organised a teacher training workshop for three kindergartens in Yuen Long District to raise child protection awareness and foster a safe environment for young children’s growth.

Supporting Ethnic Minority Families with SEN Children
Ethnic minority families generally face multiple barriers in supporting their children’s special needs with limited resources. The Hoi Fu Parents Resource Centre houses a dedicated unit serving ethnic minority families, committed to supporting carers in nurturing their SEN children.
Hanen Program–TalkAbility 是本會言語治療師部從 加拿大引進的課程。承蒙恒基陽光資產管理有限公司 贊助，今年海富中心特別為少數族裔家庭提供此課程， 提升 SEN 兒童的社交溝通能力。
The Hanen Program – TalkAbility introduced to our speech therapy department from Canada. With sponsorship from Henderson Sunlight Asset Management Limited, the programme specially offered this year to ethnic minority families at the Hoi Fu Centre to strengthen SEN children’s social communication skills.
Last year, the Hoi Fu Parents Resource Centre launched the booklet Supporting SEN children, which was translated into Indonesian, Nepali, Urdu, Tagalog, Hindi and Thai to help parents understand preschool rehabilitation services. In addition to distribution across our centres, it is also widely disseminated to other organisations serving ethnic minority communities, to benefit more families.
Our school-based social work services collaborated with the Department of Social Work of Hong Kong Baptist University to launch Project PSI: Intervention Strategies for Parental Stress in Preschool Units. Using the Social Ecological Resilience Scale to identify parents with low emotional resilience at an early stage and provide the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. The initiative aims to enhance parent’s emotional resilience and family functioning, reducing parental stress, and promote emotional well-being in parent-child relationships.
Project PSI team received the Excellence Award at the Asian Family Summit in recognition of its effectiveness in supporting early childhood carers.
• Happy Parenting: Joyful Parenting Program – Discipline Tips for SEN Children
Behavioural issues in some SEN children often cause great distress to parents. In collaboration with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and The University of Hong Kong, co-developed the Joyful Parenting program, proven effective in supporting carers in mastering disciplining skills such as behavioural analysis, identifying common disciplining pitfalls and applying effective reward techniques. To expand its application, we organised two instructor training certificate courses last year, attended by 55 social workers who then joined the instructor team. Parent disciplining groups have since been held across multiple service units.

• Parents Resource Centres Promoting Parenting Effectiveness and Family Harmony
Our seven parents resource centres are dedicated to providing diverse services to help relieve parental stress and build mutual support among parents. In addition, the centres regularly organise family activities and parent-child workshops to enhance family happiness.

During Mother’s Day, the Hoi Fu Parents Resource Centre held a flower-arrangement workshop, creating special moments for carers of SEN children and fostering mutual support.
CITIC Securities and Bring Me A Book Hong Kong enriched Hoi Fu Centre’s reading space with 222 picture books, and held a workshop on parent-child shared reading to spark children’s enthusiasm for reading.
The Heep Hong Parents’ Association unites over 5,400 families, promoting peer support and advocating for the rights of SEN children.
Over the past year, the Association actively voices concerns, including the Vocational Rehabilitation Services Sharing Sessions, the Healthcare Fees and Charges Reform Forum, and Focus Groups for the Design Manual: Barrier-Free Access 2008 (2024 Edition). The presidium was invited to attend meetings held by the Task Force on Special Education and the Integrated Education Working Group under the Education Bureau. Ahead of the Policy Address, the Association formally submitted letters to the Chief Executive regarding welfare policies and carer support.

The 12th Parents’ Association has actively expanded its services by organising various activities for parents. This year, over 30 parent support and family events were held, including three particularly popular seminars: “Special or Mainstream? Gratitude to Corporates and Organisations for Supporting SEN Children and Promoting Diversity
For SEN children and youth, artwork not only inspires latent talent but also boosts self-confidence and self-worth, and even serves as a new channel for communication.
Sponsored by the Great Eagle Group, the Heep Hong Talent School officially launched the “Visual Arts Programmes for SEN Children and Youth” in September 2024. In collaboration with the Hong Kong Society of Illustrators, the programme providing character design and drawing training for SEN children and youth, enabling them to express their life experiences, emotions, and imagination through original character creations. The programme also hosted the "My Character Lab" Children's Visual Art Exhibition, which drew over 1,000 visitors.

Last September, we were a beneficiary of Tencent Foundation’s "99 Giving Day". This Lunar New Year, we partnered again to launch an e-Laisee campaign, which both encouraged digital donations and showcased the artistic talents of SEN children to the public.

During the year, with the generous support of DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited, we organised social integration activities featuring private cinema screenings. The events created joyful shared experiences for children with SEN and their families while fostering community inclusion.
Jones Lang LaSalle Management Services Limited (JLL) sponsored our OPRS team to run a Primary One Adaptation Class, and a football class at the Heep Hong Talent School. Additionally, JLL funded a range of parent-child activities – from art groups to therapy dog sessions and equestrian school visits – providing diverse learning opportunities for children.
Our long-term corporate partner, Clifford Chance, has supported the development of our services over the years through sponsorship and volunteer participation. The firm recently made a generous donation to our Supportive Learning Project, supporting a range of services, including group training sessions for children and parents. These sessions integrate artificial intelligence (AI) technology and interactive approaches to help enhance children’s social skills, communication abilities, emotional regulation, and daily living skills.

Hydrotherapy can effectively enhance the sensory, motor, and coordination skills of SEN children. However, such facilities remain limited in Hong Kong and are not easily accessible to these children. With sponsorship from Konew Fintech Corporation Limited, we launched the Parent-Child Hydrotherapy Service, enabling children from low-income families to benefit from this intervention. Additionally, K Cash Corporation Limited sponsored a new van for the Society, facilitating the transport of materials and large training equipment for use across our centres.

BlackRock sponsored the Talent Development Program for SEN Students – Sports, supporting around 120 SEN children from low-income families to learn various sports. The programme aims to enhance students’ motor skills, coordination, confidence, physical and mental well-being, and perseverance. BlackRock’s directors highly commended the Society’s forward-looking services and professional team, expressing their hope for continued collaboration to benefit more SEN children and their families.

This year, several corporations selected Heep Hong Society as the beneficiary of their charitable activities, supporting our wide range of services. These include Hong Kong Television Entertainment Limited (ViuTV) and K Cash Corporation Limited, which chose us as the sole beneficiary for the press conference of the TV drama series The Lies Within. We were also the beneficiary of the Let Talent Bloom, Let Futures Shine Charity Concert , presented by the Konew Fintech Charity Fund and organised by the SAR Philharmonic Orchestra.
In addition, Plaza Premium Group showcased our training materials in its airport lounges at Hong Kong International Airport and generously donated to support our services.
With the generous support of Plaza Premium Group, our Vocab Delivery Vocabulary Learning Game Package was displayed in Plaza Premium Lounges across Hong Kong International Airport, where travellers could also try out the game. In addition, the Group kindly donated part of the proceeds from its ALLWAYS electric buggy service to support our work.

Fundraising Event Gathering Love and Support for SEN Children and Families
The Heep Hong Society Charity Calendar 2025 features artwork by SEN children, offering a glimpse into their imaginative world and showcasing their creativity and talent. Launched for public sale in November last year, the calendar received overwhelming support from the community. All proceeds were donated to Heep Hong Talent School, empowering SEN children to explore and develop their potential.

Hong Kong Golf Club Presents: Heep Hong Charity Sports Fun Day 2024
Held in December, the “Hong Kong Golf Club Presents: Heep Hong Charity Sports Fun Day 2024” brought together corporate partners for friendly basketball and football matches to raise funds for our Children and Youth Training Fund. The event also featured sports games and booths, creating joyful moments for SEN children and their families. With over 800 participants, the event demonstrated community solidarity and the spirit of inclusion and care.

The Sports Fun Day was officiated by Mr. Ho Kai-ming, JP, Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare, with representatives from various corporate partners joining the opening ceremony to show their support.
The 28th Great Chefs of Hong Kong was held at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong in May, attracting over 1,000 guests. Nearly 50 top chefs from the finest local restaurants prepared over 100 gourmet dishes for donors. The event also featured game booths and a lucky draw, creating a joyful atmosphere! Proceeds from the event were used to support our parent support services and other innovative projects.

Nearly 50 top chefs gathered to support the charity event with their culinary skills.
The annual charity raffle, themed “Together We Light the Way Forward,” encouraged the public to show care for SEN children and their families through ticket purchases. Artist Ms Grace Chan officiated at the launch and joined the sales campaign, helping generate an enthusiastic public response.
Parents and children also joined hands in flag-selling activities to raise funds for the Society.
Embracing the theme “Walking with SEN • Creating Inclusion Together,” Heep Hong Society’s Hong Kong Island Flag Day 2025 successfully concluded on 7 June. Around 2,000 volunteers united across Hong Kong Island, raising funds while spreading messages of care and inclusion to the community.
In addition, an online fundraising campaign was launched, allowing donors to make digital donations or purchase gold flags, spreading love and kindness.

We were honoured to invite artist Mr Lai Lok-yi to serve as the ambassador for "Friends of Heep Hong". The initiative’s launch ceremony was held at MCP Central in August, to actively promote public attention and supports.
Mr Ng has been a monthly donor to Heep Hong Society for over 20 years, he was impressed by how our services not only foster children’s development but also help relieve the stress and emotional burdens of parents.
"Compared to the past, there are now more and more SEN children." He believes that beyond government funding, public support is vital. To him, his donations are not only acts of kindness but also investments in the future of an inclusive society. He hopes more people with the means and time will join this cause.

Ms Lee Mei-yuk: Passing Kindness Through Education 本會另一位月捐者李女士，自小受父親樂於助人的精神薰陶，她希望將這份善意延續。

Ms Lee, also a monthly donor, inspired by her father’s helpful spirit since childhood, she hopes to pass on his kindness. "I want my son to know there are many kinds of children in the world, and that we should learn how to take care of others when we grow capable." As a mother, Ms Lee believes such life education is far more valuable than material possessions. She calls on more parents to lead by example, so that empathy and compassion can take root in the next generation.

From June to August, our centres held graduation ceremonies to celebrate the growth and achievements of the children. We were honoured to have District Social Welfare Officers, District Council Members, members of Area Committees, and representatives from Care Teams joining us, together with parents and staff. The children put great effort into their performances, while parents shared touching moments and reflections on their children’s progress, creating a joyful and heartwarming atmosphere.

Autism Awareness Week Opens the Door to Acceptance
A picture book created by Animomo illustrates the daily lives and needs of people with autism through storytelling.
In alignment with the United Nations' World Autism Awareness Day on 2 April, the Society holds Autism Awareness Week every April. This year’s theme, "Acceptance Begins with Understanding, Let's Learn More About ASD Together," aims to promote the community’s understanding and acceptance of individuals with autism through multiple channels.
During the awareness week, we held a press conference to release the findings of the “Public Awareness Survey on Autism Spectrum Disorder”. Our educational psychologist Vergo Cheng presented the results, calling on the public to break down misconceptions and join hands in building a more inclusive and welcoming community. Additionally, the public was invited to take a fun quiz on our website to receive an autism-themed picture book.
To maximise our reach, messages of care and acceptance were widely shared through print advertisements on buses, the MTR, and ferries, as well as a promotional video displayed on a large outdoor screen in Causeway Bay.

Heep Hong Channel released a feature video in which our educational psychologist Ms Jacqueline To, addresses common misconceptions about autism.
We regularly organise exhibitions at various shopping malls to help the community better understand the world of children with SEN. These exhibitions not only introduce our diverse services but also feature interactive experience zones where visitors can try educational apps that support SEN children's learning. Additionally, through simulation games, visitors could experience the challenges that SEN children face in their daily lives.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Society participated in the Hong Kong Book Fair. This year’s highlight was the revised edition of De-coding Sensory Behaviour: Understanding Sensory Processing Difficulties and Related Support Strategies for Children , authored by our occupational therapy team. Parents had the opportunity to purchase a range of books and board games tailored to their needs, covering topics such as language learning, behavioural support, and social-emotional development. A therapist consultation corner was also set up to answer parents’ questions on-site. In addition, our occupational therapists delivered a public talk explaining the concept of sensory information processing and conducted live demonstrations of practical training strategies.

Media Coverage Enhances Understanding of Child Development and SEN
In an exclusive feature by am730 , our service manager Mr Jerry Wan, and Mr Kwok Wing-hong, a coach from the Hong Kong, China Tennis Association, introduced the Tennis Development Programme under the Heep Hong Talent School. SEN children participating in the programme were also interviewed, sharing how tennis training had significantly improved their attention and self-confidence.
TVB’s Vital Lifeline interviewed our experts on autism support. Our educational psychologist Ms Natalie Tsui explained the nature of autism, clarified common misconceptions, and introduced diversified support strategies. Our physiotherapist Ms Kelly Law discussed common muscle tone issues among individuals with autism. Parents of autistic child also shared their personal experiences, calling for greater acceptance and inclusion in society.
Our physiotherapist Ms Selina Shum, was featured on Now News' Medicine Online discussing the challenges premature infants may face and appropriate training methods. The programme also featured a participant from our Get Ready for Preterm Babies Project, who shared her heartfelt experience caring for her premature twins.
On TVB’s A Closer Look, our Chief Executive Officer Ms Rachel Leung, shared her professional insights on inclusive education. She acknowledged the government's ongoing efforts to increase resources in this area and suggested a timely review of the subsidy mechanism to ensure effective allocation. She also emphasised the need to enhance communication between schools and parents, enabling them to stay informed about their children's support and to provide feedback.
The October sharing session for the "PACT ® Practitioner Training" drew participation and coverage from multiple media outlets. Educational psychologists Mr Neo Ngan and Ms Gigi Liu introduced the course design, followed by special child care teacher and certified PACT ® instructor Ms Wiko So, who shared her teaching methodology. Parents also reflected on their experiences and appreciated the parent-child interaction skills they acquired.
Our expert team contributes regular columns to platforms including Yahoo Parenting, Smart Parents, ESDlife , and Ours mama & baby , offering professional insights and practical advice on child development. Topics cover the growth of children with SEN, school readiness, and support for premature infants.
At an online sharing session held in July, occupational therapist supervisor Ms Joyce Cheng presented on “Sensory Processing and Sensory Integration Difficulties” and related support strategies. The event was covered by different media outlets, including Ming Pao, Wen Wei Po , and Hong Kong Economic Times.
Our online shop offers parents, teachers, and professionals convenient access to an extensive range of professional teaching materials and child development books. This year, we further diversified our online shop’s offerings by launching a section, “Supporting Employment for SEN Youth”, featuring handmade products created by SEN youth to nurture their potential and entrepreneurial skills.

To support Flag Day, Gold Flag set including keychain created by SEN youth and special edition paper flag was launched on the online stop, enabling the public to contribute anytime, anywhere.
To broaden public awareness, we strengthened our social media development. On Facebook, we introduced more interactive content such as Q&A posts to boost participation and increase community engagement. On Instagram, we published more Reels, drawing the attention of new users. Meanwhile, our Xiaohongshu account, launched last year, has continued to post engaging content that has successfully attracted and maintained a loyal fan base.
We also continued to connect with the public through the Heep Hong Channel on Facebook and YouTube, as well as our podcast, Let’s Talk SEN . The content features service introductions, parenting tips, and real-life case stories, demonstrating our commitment to supporting every SEN family with knowledge and care.

Service Projects for Individuals with ASD or ADHD and Their Families
The above accounts are not specified financial statements in relation to the Society. The specified financial statements for the financial year with which those accounts purport to deal will be delivered to the Companies Registrar after the Annual General Meeting. An auditor's report has been prepared on the specified financial statements for the financial year. The auditor's report i) was neither qualified nor modified; ii) did not refer to any matter to which the auditor drew attention by way of emphasis without qualifying the report; iii) did not contain a statement under section 406(2) or 407(2) or (3) of the Hong Kong Companies Ordinance.
As at 31 March 2025, the Provident Fund Reserve balance for non-snapshot staff amounted to $54.2 million. The reserve will be fully deployed for non-snapshot staff on Provident Fund contributions. The Society will regularly review and consider measures to optimally use the Provident Fund Reserve.
As at 31 March 2025, the Lump Sum Grant Reserve balance amounted to HK$130.80 million. With the introduction of the Productivity Enhancement Programme by the HKSAR Government for the 2025/26 fiscal year, the Lump Sum Grant Subvention will be reduced by 2%, leading to an anticipated decrease in the reserve. The reserve will be allocated as needed to hire staff and procure support equipments to maintain the operation of subvented services. The Society will continue to review its corporate governance procedures and financial policies to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and to enhance operational efficiency.
The 2024/25 Annual Financial Report and the 2024/25 Review Report on Remuneration Packages for Staff in the Top Three Tiers have been submitted to Social Welfare Department for posting onto SWD's website. The Reports are also displayed at the Head Office of the Society.
