PressureReducingValve, Recondition

Thisprocedurecoverstheremoval,recondition,and installationofthepressurereducingvalvecartridge.It alsocontainsproceduresforcleaningand troubleshootingthevalve.Whileconsidered serviceableitems,thesecartridgesarenotdesignedto bedisassembledinthefield.Ifforanyreasonthe pressurereducingvalvedoesnotfunctionasrequired, afterperformingthepropercleaningand troubleshootingprocedures,theentirevalvecartridge shouldbereplaced.

Thecartridgeiseasilyremovedfromitsmountingbody withouttheneedtoremovetheentirevalvefromthe crane.Refertothefollowingproceduretoremovethe cartridgefromthecrane.

Removal

1.Lower,detach,andsecuretheload,asrequired.

2.Stabilizethecraneforserviceasfollows:

a.Parkthecrane,outoftheway,onafirmand levelsurfaceandengagetheparkbrake.

b.Engagetheswingparkbrakeortravelswing lock,asrequired.

c.Levelthecraneonfullyextendedoutriggers.

d.Fullyretractandpositiontheboom,as required.

3.Shutdowntheengineanddisengagethemain hydraulicpump.

4.Oncraneswithairchargedhydraulicreservoirs:

a.Openthedrainvalvesontheairreservoirsto bleedtheairsystempressure.

b.Whenpressureisfullyrelieved,closethedrain valvesontheairsystemreservoir.

WARNING

Solventsandcleaningsolutionscanbe hazardous.Seriouspersonalinjurymay resultfrommisuseoftheseproducts.Read andfollowallthemanufacturer’s recommendationsconcerningsolventsand cleaningsolutions.

5.Thoroughlycleantheareatobedisassembledwith anapprovedcleaningsolventtopreventcontamination.Allowtheareatoairdry.

WARNING

Hydraulicoilisunderpressureandmaybe hot.Asuddenreleaseofhotoilcouldcause burnsorotherseriousinjury.Shutdownthe engineandexhaustalltrappedhydraulic pressurefromthesystembeforeremoving anylineorcomponent.

6.Relievethehydraulicsystempressureasfollows:

a.Relieveanyresidualpressureinthehydraulic reservoirbypushingthebuttononthe pressurereliefvalve,locatedonthehydraulic reservoirorloosenthefillercap1/4turn.

b.Turntheignitionswitchto “ON”,but DONOT STARTTHEENGINE. Movethefunctionlockoutswitchtothe“OPERATE”position.

c.Workthecranecontrolleversandoutrigger switchesbackandforthseveraltimes.

d.Turnignitionswitchtothe “OFF” position.

7.Checkthatallcontrolleversareintheneutralpositionandmovethefunctionlockoutswitchtothe “DISABLE”position.

8.Slowlyunscrewandremovethecartridge(2)from mountingbody(1)Cap/plugtheopenhydraulic porttopreventexcessiveoillossandcontaminationofthesystem.

9.Removethebackuprings(4,7,9)ando---rings (5,6,8)fromthecartridge(2),asrequired.

Cleaning,Inspection,And

Troubleshooting

Themostcommoncauseofamalfunctionofthe pressurereducingvalveisdirtinthehydraulicfluid. Foreignmaterialcanlodgeintheworkingpartsofthe cartridgeandinterferewithproperoperation.The cartridgecangenerallybecleaned,withoutdisturbing thefactorysettings,usingthefollowingprocedures:

1.Allcomponentsshouldbethoroughlycleanedwith anapprovedcleaningsolvent,airdried,andcarefullyinspected.
