Thisprocedurecoverstheremovalandinstallationof theboomrest.

Removal

1.Lower,detach,andsecuretheload,asrequired.

2.Stabilizethecraneforserviceasfollows:

a.Parkthecraneoutofthewayonafirmandlevel surface.

b.Applytheparkbrakeand/orproperlyblockthe tires.

c.Engagetheswingparkbrakeortravelswing lock,asrequired.

d.Levelthecraneonfullyextendedoutriggers.

e.Fullyretractandlowertheboomovertherear ofthecarrier.

3.Shutdowntheengineanddisengagethemainhydraulicpump.

4.Checkthatallcontrolleversareintheneutralpositionandmovethefunctionlockoutswitchtothe “DISABLE”position.

5.Removethedeckplates(2)directlyinfrontofand behindtheboomrest(1).

Note:Theboomrestassemblyweighsapproximately175lb(80kg).

6.Usinganadequateliftingdevice,rigtheboomrest (1)forremoval.

7.Removethecapscrews,washers,andlocknuts(7) securingtheboomrest(1)tothecarrierframe(3).

8.Removetheboomrest(1)fromthecrane.

9.Ifnecessary,removethewearblock(4)fromthe topoftheboomrest(1)byremovingthe capscrews,washers,andlocknuts(5).

10.Ifnecessary,removethecapscrews,washers,and locknuts(6)toseparatethesupportplate(8)from theboomrest(1).

CleaningAndInspection WARNING

Solventsandcleaningsolutionscanbe hazardous.Seriouspersonalinjurymay resultfrommisuseoftheseproducts.Read andfollowallthemanufacturer’s recommendationsconcerningsolventsand cleaningsolutions.

1.Allcomponentsshouldbethoroughlycleanedwith anapprovedcleaningsolvent,airdried,andcarefullyinspected.

2.AllLoctite ,Permatex ,orothersealantresidue shouldberemovedfromthreadsofhardwareand themountingsurfacesofpartsthataregoingtobe reused.Priortoapplyingnewthreadlockingcompoundsorsealants,cleanthreadsandsurfaces withLoctite 7070Cleanertoensurebestperformanceofproducts.

3.Thoroughlyinspectallpartsfordamage,wear,fatigueorstressfractures,andcorrosion.Repairor replaceasrequired.

4.Intheeventofseveredefects,contactfactorypersonnelfordirectionswhethertorepairorreplace anymajorcomponent.

Installation WARNING

Lubricants,sealants,jointandthreadlocking compounds,etc.canbehazardous.Serious personalinjurymayresultfrommisuseof theseproducts.Readandfollowall manufacturer’srecommendationsconcerning theseproducts.

RefertoFigure1.

1.Ifremoved,installthesupportplate(8)tothebottomoftheboomrest(1)usingthecapscrews, washers,andlocknuts(6).

2.Ifremoved,positionthewearblock(4)onthe boomrest(1),andinstallthecapscrews,washers, andlocknuts(5).

Note:Theboomrestassemblyweighsapproximately175lb(80kg).

3.Usinganadequateliftingdevice,aligntheboom rest(1)tothemountsonthecarrierframe(3).

4.Securetheboomrest(1)tothecarrierframe(3)by installingthecapscrews,washers,andlocknuts (7).

5.Installthedeckplates(2).
