CoolingSystem
Neveraddcoolanttoanoverheatedengine;allowtheengineto coolfirst.
Checkthespecificgravityofthecoolantsolutionfrequentlyin coldweathertoensureadequateprotection.
Ifthemachineistobestoredin,orshippedtoanareawith freezingtemperaturesthecoolingsystemmustbeprotectedto thelowestexpectedoutsidetemperature.
Allwateriscorrosiveatengineoperatingtemperature.The coolingsystemshouldbeprotectedwitha3%to6% concentrationofcoolingsystemconditioneratalltimes, regardlessoftheconcentrationofantifreeze.
Excessivecoolantconditioner(greaterthantherecommended 6%initialfill)togetherwithconcentrationsofantifreezegreater than65%,causeamud-likedeposittoform.Thismayresultin radiatortubeblockageandoverheating.
DonotuseliquidCaterpillarcoolingsystemconditionerwith Dowtherm209Full-Fillcoolant.Followrecommendations providedwithDowtherm209Full-Fillcoolant.

Ifthemachineistobestoredin,orshippedtoanareawith freezingtemperaturesthecoolingsystemmustbeprotectedto thelowestexpectedoutsidetemperature.
CoolingSystemConditionerLiquid
FuelSystem
Fillthefueltankattheendofeachdayofoperationtodriveout moistairandtopreventcondensation.
Donotfillthetanktothetop.Fuelexpandsasitgetswarmand mayoverflow.
Donotfillthefuelfilterswithfuelbeforeinstallingthem. Contaminatedfuelwillcauseacceleratedweartothefuel systemparts.
Make-upoiladdedtothehydraulictankmustmixwiththeoil alreadyinthesystem.Useonlypetroleumproductsunlessthe systemisequippedforusewithspecialproducts.
Ifthehydraulicoilbecomescloudy,waterorairisenteringthe system.Waterorairinthesystemwillcausepumpfailure. Drainthefluid,retightenallhydraulicsuctionlineclamps, purgeandrefillthesystem.ConsultyourCaterpillardealerfor purginginstructions.
