Caterpillarrecommendsthatthecoolantmixcontaina minimumof30%CaterpillarAntifreeze,orequivalent.

Topreventdamagetoyourengine,neveraddcoolanttoan overheatedengine.Allowtheenginetocoolfirst.

Allwateriscorrosiveatengineoperatingtemperature.The coolingsystemshouldbeprotectedwitha3%to6% concentrationofcoolingsystemconditioneratalltimes, regardlessoftheconcentrationofantifreeze.

Excessivecoolantconditioner(greaterthantherecommended 6%initialfill)togetherwithconcentrationsofantifreezegreater than65%causedepositstoformandmayresultinradiator tubeblockageandoverheating,and/orwaterpumpseal damage.

DonotuseCaterpillarliquidcoolingsystemconditioner, coolantconditionerelementsorantifreezewithDowtherm209 Full-Fillcoolant.Dowtherm209Full-Fillcoolantisnot compatiblewithotherantifreezesandcoolantmixtures.

Dowtherm209full-fillcoolantwilllowerthewaterpump cavitationtemperatureandcoolantboilingpoint.Theselowered temperatureswillcauseoverheatingatalowerambient temperaturethananethyleneglycolandwatermix.IfDowtherm isused,followtheinstructionsprovidedanduseonlythe inhibitorpackagerecommendedbythesupplier.

Ifthemachineistobestoredin,orshippedto,anareawith freezingtemperatures,thecoolingsystemmustbeprotectedto thelowestexpectedoutside(ambient)temperature.

Theenginecoolingsystemisprotectedto-28°C(-20°F)with CaterpillarAntifreeze,whenshippedfromthefactory.

Checkthespecificgravityofthecoolantsolutionfrequentlyin coldweathertoensureadequateprotection.

NOTICE

Caterpillarrecommendsthatthecoolantmixcontaina minimumof30%CaterpillarAntifreeze,orequivalent,and acceptablewatertomaintainanadequatewaterpump cavitationtemperatureforefficientwaterpumpperformance.

Premixcoolantsolutiontoprovideprotectiontothelowest expectedoutside(ambient)temperature.Pureundiluted antifreezewillfreezeat-23°C(-10°F).

Onlyuseagreaterconcentration(above30%)ofCaterpillar Antifreezeasneededforanticipatedoutside(ambient) temperatures.Donotexceedacoolantmixtureof60% antifreezetowatersinceaconcentrationabove60%antifreeze willreducetheengine'sfreezeprotectionandincreasethe possibilityofdepositformationinthecoolingsystem.

NOTICE

AlwaysaddCaterpillarCoolingSystemConditioneror equivalenttothecoolant,orinstallaCaterpillarCoolant ConditionerElement(ifequipped).Neverusecoolantonly, exceptifCaterpillarAntifreezeisbeingused.Inthiscase,no supplementalcoolantconditionerisneededoninitialfill,butis necessaryonamaintenancebasis.

UseCaterpillarliquidcoolingsystemconditioneroracoolant conditionerelement(ifequipped)toprovidea3%to6% concentrationofconditionerinthecoolingsystemtohelp preventcorrosion.

Topreventoverinhibitingtheengine'scoolingsystem,never useboththeliquidcoolingsystemconditionerandthecoolant conditionerelement(ifequipped)atthesametime.Theuseof theseinhibitorstogethercouldresultinaconditioner concentrationthatwouldexceedtheCaterpillarrecommended maximumof6%.

Theoverconcentrationofaconditionerwilldepositonthe highertemperaturesurfacesofthecoolingsystemandcreatea barrierthatreducestheengine'sheattransfercharacteristics. Reducedheattransfercouldcausecrackingofthecylinder headandotherhightemperaturecomponents.Excessive concentrationsofconditionercouldalsoacceleratewaterpump sealwear.

NOTICE

DONOTaddcoolantconditioneratinitialfillwhenusing CaterpillarAntifreeze.CaterpillarAntifreezecontainsthe necessarycoolantconditionerprecharge.Additionofcoolant conditionercouldresultinanoverconcentration.
