Caterpillarrecommendscertifiedairfiltercleaningservices availableatparticipatingCaterpillardealers.TheCaterpillar cleaningprocessusesprovenprocedurestoassureconsistent qualityandsufficientfilterlife.
Observethefollowingguidelinesifyouattempttocleanthe filterelement:
Donottaporstrikethefilterelementinordertoremovedust. Donotwashthefilterelement.
Uselowpressurecompressedairinordertoremovethedust fromthefilterelement.Airpressuremustnotexceed207kPa (30psi).Directtheairflowupthepleatsanddownthepleats fromtheinsideofthefilterelement.Takeextremecareinorder toavoiddamagetothepleats.
Donotuseairfilterswithdamagedpleats,gaskets,orseals. Dirtenteringtheenginewillcausedamagetoengine components.

InspectingthePrimaryAirFilterElement
