Withthehighsulfurfuel,changetheoilandthefilterelementafterevery250hoursorafterevery month.IftheAPIcategoryisCF-4orless,changetheoilandchangethefilterelementafterevery 250hoursoraftereverymonth.Otherwise,changetheoilandthefilterelementafterevery500 hoursoraftereverythreemonths.
1.Ifequipped,removethesoundplatefromthebottomofthetransmissionguard.Removethe fourclipsthatsecurethesoundplatetothetransmissionguard.

2.Removethecrankcasedrainpluganddraintheoilintoasuitablecontainer.Cleanthe crankcasedrainplugandreplacethecrankcasedrainplug.

4.Cleanthefiltermountingbasewithacleancloth.Makesurethattheoldfiltergaskethas beenremoved.
5.Applyathinfilmofcleanengineoiltothesealingsurfaceofthenewfilterelement.
6.Installthenewoilfilterbyhand.
InstructionsfortheinstallationofthefilterareprintedonthesideofeachCaterpillarspinonfilter.Fornon-Caterpillarfilters,refertotheinstallationinstructionsthatareprovidedby thesupplierofthefilter.
7.Opentheengineaccessdooronthetopofthemachine.

8.Removetheoilfillercap(2).Fillthecrankcasewithnewoil.RefertoOperationand MaintenanceManual,"LubricantViscosities"andOperationandMaintenanceManual, "Capacities(Refill)".Cleantheoilfillercapandinstalltheoilfillercap.
9.Starttheengineandallowtheoiltowarm.Checkforleaks.
10.Stoptheengineandallowtheoiltodrainbackintotheoilpan.Maintaintheoillevelinthe crosshatchedregionoftheengineoildipstick(1).Addoil,ifnecessary.
11.Replacetheengineaccesspanelandclosetheengineaccessdoor.
