Battery - Remove and Install
SMCS - 1401-010
Removal Procedure
Personal injury may occur from failure to properly service the batteries.
Batteries give off flammable fumes that can explode. Electrolyte is an acid and can cause personal injury if it contacts the skin or eyes.
Prevent sparks near the batteries. Sparks could cause vapors to explode. Do not allow jumper cable ends to contact each other or the engine. Improper jumper cable connections can cause an explosion.
Always wear protective glasses when working with batteries.
Contact with electrical components can cause injury or death.
Remove all jewelry and avoid contact with electrical components. Use properly insulated tools when working on the junction box of an engine.
1. Turn the battery switch to the "OFF" position.

Catalyst (SCR) - Remove and Install
SMCS - 1091-010
S/N - HNG1-UP
S/N - MGF1-UP
S/N - YHT1-UP
Removal Procedure
1
Start By:
a. Remove the engine enclosure.
b. Remove the nitrogen oxide sensor.
Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.
Wear goggles, gloves, protective clothing, and a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) approved P95 or N95 halfface respirator when handling a used Diesel Particulate Filter or Catalytic Converter Muffler. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

2
1. Loosen band clamp (1). Disconnect clamp assemblies (2).
2. Attach a suitable lifting device to lift catalyst (SCR) (3). The weight of catalyst (SCR) (3) is approximately 53 kg (117 lb). Raise catalyst (SCR) (3) approximately three inches.
3. Remove temperature sensor (4). Remove catalyst (SCR) (3).

3
4. Loosen band clamp (6). Remove bellow assembly (5).
5. Discard band clamps (1) and (6).
Installation Procedure
Note: When installing a new catalyst or a cleaned catalyst, a SCR reset must be performed. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS8180, "Aftertreatment Filter Maintenance on Tier 4 Final Products Equipped with a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC), and a Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) Filter" for the correct procedure.
1. Install catalyst (SCR) (3) in the reverse order of removal.
a. Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of temperature sensor (4).

Illustration 4
Typical Example
Note: Do not use power tools in order to torque clamp assemblies (2).
b. Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of clamp assemblies (2) along Distance (X). Distance (X) is 25 mm (1 inch) above the trunnion. Tighten clamp assemblies (2) to a torque of 16.5 ± 1.5 N·m (146 ± 13 lb in).

Illustration 5 g03386044
Cutaway view of band clamps (1) and (6) in position on the assembly.
Note: Do not use power tools in order to torque band clamps (1) and (6).
c. Verify that the cup of the Ball Joint (G) does not touch the radius of the Ball (F). Position band clamps (1) and (6), hand tighten band clamps (1) and (6). Band clamps (1) and (6) should be in the center of the joint.
d. Dimension (C) and Dimension (D) should be equal within 2.0 mm (0.08 inch). Repeat the measurements every 90° around band clamps (1) and (6). If necessary, adjust band clamps (1) and (6).
e. Torque band clamps (1) and (6) to a torque of 35 ± 2 N·m (26 ± 1 lb ft).
