Coaches: Brian Dour, Ty Olson, Joe Meyer and Robin Lewis
Last year’s record: 18-8-1
(Beardstown won the Western Illinois Conference championship)
Key losses: We graduated our Nos. 2-4 hitters in the lineup (Zach Desollar, .296; Ethan Heller, .419; and Tannar Riddell, .329). Tannar Riddell was our ace pitcher. Zach Desollar started every game at rst base, and Ethan Heller caught most every game.
Returning starters: We have four players returning who have already been everyday starters for two years.
Trey Riddell is a senior, and Zach Meyer, Colby Desollar, and Parker Bell are junior returners. We also return juniors Starkin Fajardo and Josh Camas, along with Carter Ross, who started a lot last year.
Anchoring this year’s pitching sta will be Trey Riddell, Colby Desollar and Starkin Fajardo, all of whom saw major innings in conference games last year.
Team leaders: Returning all-conference members Colby Desollar and Trey Riddell are expected to provide a lot of con dence to the team.
Leadership by example will be provided by other third-year starters, Zach Meyer and Parker Bell.
Key newcomers: Caleb Hobrock, who had a devastating elbow injury that sidelined him for the season last year, will be our newcomer to watch. He has worked very hard to come back, and has shown great promise in the o -season. Maddox Medrano could have a big year. He has a quick bat and doesn’t yet realize how good he is. If he gains con dence in the batter’s box, he could quickly move up in the lineup.
We expect big seasons from Zach Meyer and Parker Bell. Both spent last season su ering
from the sophomore jinx a er having great freshman seasons.
Pitching overview: Our pitching sta is going to have a lot of options a er our top returning starters. Bradyn Alhorn, Zach Meyer, Parker Bell and Carter Ross could contribute a great deal if they get o to a positive start.
Hitting overview: I believe our o ense may be the best it has been in recent years because of the added experience, maturity, and strength we’ve gained since last season.
Outlook: is season will depend on the snowball e ect. If some of the players start out as good as I think they will, we could have an outstanding season. Con dence is key.
Coach: Jared Hoots
Last year’s record: 23-11
Returning starters: Collin Dieterle (shortstop), .291 BA, 32 H, 34 R, 26 RBIs; Jack Se on, .327 BA, 34 H, 36 R; Myer Maxwell, .273 BA, 19 RBIs; Vlad Rebarcak, .316 BA; Matt Boylen, .330 BA, 33 H, 34 R, 18 RBIs; omas Boylen, .357 BA; Wyatt Kassing, .268 BA, 23 R
Key losses: Jack Buss, .327 BA; Maverick Henry, .313 BA, all-conference; Tyce Fullerton, .396 BA, all-conference; Dylan Reiche, .276 BA
Key newcomers: Michael Kassing (C/P) — missed most of last year due to a injury. Conner Flynn — threw innings for us last year, but expect him to be in the lineup this year. Jaxson Henricks — utility player with speed. Aden Wagner — freshman with a lot of baseball promise.
Team leaders: I expect Matt Boylen and Collin Dieterle to take over the leadership role of the team this year. Both players have been playing since their freshman year.
Schedule notes: We play a strong schedule in the WIVC,
as our conference is one of the best in the state. We also ll our non-conference slate with tough opponents.
Pitching overview: Our pitching sta brings back Myer Maxwell, Eli Staton, Conner Flynn, Wyatt Kassing and Jack Se on. A healthy Collin Dieterle and Matt Boylen will add depth to the sta . We should have a quality sta that ll up innings.
Hitting overview: At the plate we bring back ve kids who hit over .300, a solid group that is hungry, that get to ght for at-bats. I think we have a good mixture of speed and contact mixed in with some power. But we also have to replace three all-conference players at the top of the lineup.
Fielding overview: Defensively, we will have to replace three-year starter Jack Buss behind the plate and Maverick Henry and Tyce Fullerton on the le side of the in eld. I think we have the guys to step up into those roles, but we will use practice to gure out who wants those roles and what’s best for the team.
Outlook: Our goal is to compete for a conference championship, win 20 games, and win a regional — then a er that, see what happens. I think we have a group that can reach those goals.
Coach: John Goode

Carson Flowers (OF) — Expect Carson to be a leader, and be able to play at a higher level than in years past.
Reed Schnettgoecke (OF) —

Expect Reed to be the guy on the bases, who will be tough to get out.
ose four seniors I will look to for veteran leadership and to buy into a program for their nal season as a Carrollton Hawk.
Key losses: As I look beginning my rst season at Carrollton, I believe all losses last year are key. ere is a lot to improve on, and to take the next step forward as a group will be key.
Team leaders: e four seniors will lead this group, by work ethic. I expect them to lead by example.
What is one area of growth you’ve emphasized this o -
Once we are able to get going, I will evaluate what they can do, and what improvements need to be made.
Fielding overview: Filling all the defensive positions, who will win each spot, they are open for who is the best t and who works for it.
What will de ne this group? e identity and personality will depend on the team. is I will hopefully be able to answer soon, but we must get a er it on day one.
What would de ne a successful season for this team? Hard work and dedication to the process early this season will determine where this group will be at the end of the season. How coachable will they be, and how they’ll be able to make adjustments when needed.
Coach: Jacob McEvers
Last year’s record: 13-14
Returning starters: Brock Bowman is a senior four-year starter who hit .324 last season. He will be a staple in the middle of the Tiger defense this year as a senior captain.
season? I did not have an oseason to get the team prepared for this season, so emphasizing the process will begin day one of the season.
Schedule notes: e WIVC is always tough, and with the conference tournament again this year, I am hopeful we are successful and are able to compete on the nal day of the WIVC Tournament.
Pitching overview: All pitching roles are still undecided. We have some strong arms that will be starters, but to see how a complete rotation of starters and relievers, time will tell.
Hitting overview: I have to learn from these guys as much as they need to learn from me.
Kayden Roberts is a senior, also a four-year starter, who hit .334 last season. He will play many positions for us this spring and help lead as another senior captain.
Layton Walters is a returning junior who will play up the middle most of the season and lead o for us this spring.
Logan Ross is a junior who is going to take a big step forward for us this spring. We are looking forward to his growth.
Hudson Duncheon is a sophomore who collected double-digit RBIs last season. He will play rst base most of the time for the Tigers and hit in the middle of the order.
Key losses: Talon Albrecht — First Team All-WIVC. Four-
year starter for us and multirst teams. Talon was a key contributor to all three regional championships during his four seasons. He will be missed on all three levels this spring.
Gri n Rothe — Second Team All-WIVC. Gri n started three years for us, leading us in most o ensive stats last year as our starting center elder. He leaves big shoes to ll both in the eld and at the plate.
Garrett Costello played every big inning for us over the past three years, both behind the plate and in the eld. He has helped lead us over the past few seasons.
Wyatt Stuart started for three years in the out eld and threw some of the most important postseason innings for us.
Caleb Albracht came on as a junior and really developed over his two years into an everyday starter.
Lucas Jones was a senior DH whose bat will be missed this spring.
Key newcomers: Mason Winters (freshman) — Mason will step into a large role this spring early in his high school career. He will hit near the middle of the order and pitch a large amount of innings.
Jace Murphy (freshman) — Coming o of a great nish to his junior high career, Murphy will be leaned on to eat a bunch of innings in the out eld and on the right side of the in eld.
Team leaders: We will rely on the experience and maturity of Bowman, Roberts, Walters and Ross to help us this spring. ey have seen successful teams in the past, and we are hopefully to continue to build on the past successes.
What is one area of growth you’ve emphasized this oseason? Depth is the greatest area of growth we have faced since the end of last spring. Losing three times as many seniors as you have freshmen incoming makes any team di cult to rebuild.
Schedule notes: We are going to try to focus on keeping our
kids healthy and getting better each day. We have built a strong schedule and will be testing a lot throughout this spring. e WIVC always proves to be one of the stronger 1A conferences in the state, and we look forward to playing in it again this year.
Pitching overview: We will lean on our upperclassmen (Bowman, Roberts, Walters and Duncheon) to take on a role for most of the innings. Freshman Jace Murphy will look to close out our close games.
Hitting overview: Walters will set the tone for us this spring and be followed by two seniors who have a lot of experience in Bowman and Roberts. We will lean on Hudson Duncheon (sophomore) and Mason Winters (freshman) to add depth in the lineup this spring. What will de ne this group? We have a lower total number of players than we have had in 10 years. is group will be de ned by their resilience to bounce back a er some tough nights this spring.
What would de ne a successful season for this team? A success would be for the kids to become better young men, have a good time playing baseball, and to ultimately be playing our best when May comes around.
Coach: Cory Bunner
Last year’s record: 22-15 (6-4 CS8)
Returning starters: Senior Joe Reif (OF), .396/27 RBI/33 R, four-year starter, one of the top out elders in the conference, one of our top o ensive pieces.
Senior Nolan Peters (1B), .297/26 RBI/21 R, four-year starter, middle of order bat, anchor at rst base.
Senior AJ Charpentier (SS/P), 7-3/1.63 ERA/90 K, one of the top pitchers in the conference, will anchor our defense up the middle.
Senior Cy Kershaw (2B/P), 4-1/1.84 ERA/23 K, was a surprise bright spot last year on the mound who will need to contribute even more this season.
Junior Ryan Headen (OF/P), 5-1/1.30 ERA/37 K, solid out eld defense, valuable innings on the mound, someone who can really handle the bat.
Sophomore Ethan Kruzan (OF/P), .286 /17 RBI/21 R, solid out eld defense, middle of the order bat
Key losses: Brandon Sims (all-conference/All-State catcher), Anderson Decker (all-conference SS) and Ryan Luconic (one of our top starting pitchers).
Key newcomers: Senior Talan Harney (OF/IF/P), transfer from North Greene who will give us some positional versatility and speed at the top of our lineup.
Junior Drew Gillespie and freshman Bentley Lagergren will look to hold down the catching position a er the graduation of four-year starter Brandon Sims.
Freshman Jack Rohlk (INF/P), corner in elder, middle of the order bat and valuable innings on the mound.
Sophomore Henry Nattier (starting pitcher), transfer from Routt who will give us some valuable innings on the mound. Returning all-conference or All-State players: AJ Charpentier.
Team leaders: We have a great group of seniors who have been varsity contributors for a while now. ey will be a great asset for our new pieces to learn and grow from.
Is there a player who might surprise people this year? At open gyms I’ve been impressed with new addition Talan Harney and his versatility in the eld, on the mound and at the plate. I think he will be a key piece to our success this year.
What is one area of growth you’ve emphasized this oseason? Our mantra continues to be “it takes what it takes.” Guys have put in work in the
o -season to allow themselves to compete day in and day out. We feel the standard has been set, and guys understand what it takes.
Schedule notes: We have a nice balance to our schedule with quite a few home games. We will get some early tests playing at the Future Champions Jamboree, where we get to see some di erent teams. e CS8 will be tough as always.
Pitching overview: We return 17 of our 22 wins from last year on the mound. AJ Charpentier will anchor the sta . Cy Kershaw, Ryan Headen, Talan Harney, Jack Rohlk, Ethan Kruzan and Henry Nattier will log key innings as well. We will de ne roles as the season gets going and play the matchups we feel give us the best chance to win.
Hitting overview: A er the graduation of Sims and Decker, who were our top two hitters last season, we will have to everyone step up to make up for their production. We will continue to nd ways to manufacture runs and put pressure on the defense. Joe Reif and Nolan Peters will anchor our order as they are both four-year varsity guys who have a ton of varsity at-bats under their belts. Talan Harney and Ryan Headen will be great table-setters as well, both with a ton of varsity at-bats. I was very impressed with Ethan Kruzan’s growth at the plate last year as a freshman, and look for him to drive in a lot of runs in the middle of the lineup.
Fielding overview: We feel

like our out eld defensively is one of the best in the area as we return all three starters and add Talan to the mix. We feel like we can track down a lot of balls in the out eld. Charpentier will anchor us defensively on the in eld along with returning pieces in Kershaw at second base and Peters at rst. Our biggest question mark coming into the season will be catching, a er the departure of four-year All-State catcher Brandon Sims. We will look to freshman Bentley Lagergren and junior Drew Gillespie to hold down that position this season.
What will de ne this group? We feel like the standard has been set, and our returning guys just continue to lead and hold everyone accountable. We have had great participation at open gyms this o -season, which shows the buy-in from our guys. We will continue to play the game the right way and are really looking forward to being the best version we can be for the 2026 season.
What would de ne a successful season for this team?
We don’t de ne a successful season by wins and losses. We want to continue to get better and compete on every pitch, giving us the best opportunity to be successful once the postseason rolls around.
Coach: Bo Gum
Last year’s record: 17-16
Returning starters: We return several key contributors from last year’s 17-16 team.
Reid Hepperly hit .321 with 12 doubles, 3 home runs, and 19 RBIs while posting a 2.25 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 59 innings. He will anchor both our lineup and pitching sta
Nolan Robinson recorded a .411 on-base percentage and struck out 58 batters in 34 innings. His versatility remains a major asset.
Carson Dodd threw 36-andone-third innings with 42 strikeouts, and will compete for signi cant innings again.
Caden Colwell hit .258 and was steady behind the plate. He didn’t throw much last year because we needed him catching, but he’ll take on a larger role on the mound this season.
Andy Holloway will step in as an out eld starter a er gaining meaningful varsity experience late last season. He will also be asked to throw impactful innings on the mound.
Key losses: We graduated a productive senior class. Rockman Prince hit .422 with 15 doubles, 4 home runs, and 30 RBIs. Mason Scroggins hit .348 with a .443 OBP. James Ushman hit .294 with 19 RBIs. Wyatt Frantz threw 42-and-one-third innings with a 2.32 ERA. Matt Madonia also graduated and provided depth and leadership. Replacing that production — especially on the mound and in

Evan Teel steps in at rst base and will be asked to throw meaningful varsity innings.
Matt Kapinus will see time in right eld and on the mound a er posting a 2.10 ERA last season. We also expect Mason Scranton, Brayden Tobin and Michael Callahan to have early opportunities as roles develop.
Auggie Kindred is a hardworking utility player who gives us exibility. He can impact games as a base runner and will compete to earn starts.
Pitching overview: Hepperly leads our sta a er posting a 2.25 ERA and 80 strikeouts last season. Dodd and Robinson return key innings, and Colwell will expand his role on the mound a er limited time there last season.
Teel, Holloway, and Kapinus will be counted on for impactful varsity innings as we replace graduated arms. Our focus is attacking the strike zone, limiting free passes, and trusting our defense.
Hitting overview: Hepperly anchors the lineup a er a .321 season, and Robinson’s .411 OBP gives us stability at the top.
Holloway’s late-season experience should translate into consistency as he steps into a full-time out eld role. Overall, we’ll need to manufacture runs.
Improving on-base percentage, controlling the strike zone, and executing situational baseball will de ne our o ensive identity.
Fielding overview: Teel stepping in at rst base provides stability, and Holloway’s athleticism strengthens our out eld defense. Experience up the middle will be key as we replace senior leadership. We’ve emphasized communication and limiting free outs to support our pitching sta
Outlook: is team’s identity will center on discipline, toughness and team- rst baseball. We want to control the strike zone, execute situationally, and compete every pitch.
A successful season will be de ned by growth, consistency in conference play, and playing meaningful baseball late in the year.

What is one area of growth you’ve emphasized this oseason? We will be focusing on fundamentals and execution.
Schedule notes: We have increased our strength of schedule this year to help prepare us for the postseason.
Pitching overview: We have multiple guys we expect to compete in every appearance. ey include Bobby Harris, Ryan Harris, Collin Bernard, Brody Tomhave, Hayden Gratton, Jacob Hull, and Payton Camp, with some younger players lling in some innings for us.

Coach: Brett Leischner
Last year’s record: 22-10-1
Returning starters: e Bluejays will return Levi Hoagland (senior), Jett Karrick (senior), Brody Landon (senior), Kolin Johnson (junior), Mason Huebner (senior), and Nash Donnan (junior).
Dillon Stremsterfer (junior), Ethan Hoagland (junior) and Tate Karrick (sophomore) also had roles on last year’s team and look to contribute to this year’s team in valuable ways.
Key losses: e Bluejays will miss Kendall Davis, Barrett Morse and Drew Marr.
Key newcomers: e Jays are needing to ll a few positions this year, and there will be a battle among senior Carson Rutherford, juniors Lucas McCoy, Tommy Smith, Hunter Nolan, Lucas Kinney, and a few underclassmen to nd out what the best t will be.
Returning all-conference players: Jett Karrick, First Team All-Sangamo; Nash Donnan and Levi Hoagland, Second Team All-Sangamo.
Is there a player who might surprise people this year? Senior Brody Landon is a name to look out for this year. His sophomore and junior years were marred by injury, and he has yet to have a varsity season where he was healthy. is year he is healthy and primed for a breakout year.
Points of emphasis this o -season: e Jays have been focused on competing with every pitch and not taking any pitches o . Base-running is another focus for the Jays, as well as staying consistent with making routine plays. Also, the Jays are focused on keeping a consistent mindset and not letting the results impact the process.
Pitching overview: e Bluejays will be strong on the bump again this year. Senior Jett Karick, junior Nash Donnan, and senior Levi Hoagland all will be relied upon to throw signi cant innings this year. As long as they stay healthy, pitching will be a huge strength of the Jays. Juniors Kolin Johnson, Ethan Hoagland and Lucas McCoy, senior Brody Landon, and sophomore Tate Karrick also will be called on to throw several meaningful innings for the Jays.
Hitting overview: Seniors Jett Karrick and Levi Hoagland, and junior Nash Donnan look to lead the Jays o ense this year as they had standout performances last season. e Bluejays are also looking to seniors Brody Landon and Mason Huebner to have strong o ensive years as well. e Jays are looking to be a dynamic o ense that can score runs in a variety of ways by keeping constant pressure on the defense.
Fielding overview: e defense will look a little di erent for the Bluejays as they are nding the replacements for rst baseman Kendall Davis, center elder Drew Marr, and second baseman Barrett Morse. Junior Kolin Johnson looks to slide over to center eld and continue a tradition of excellence in the center of the diamond for the Jays. Seniors Levi Hoagland
and Jett Karrick will make the le side of the in eld strong for the Jays. Second base will be a battle among several players, and rst base will have lots of competition among several players when junior Nash Donnan is on the bump. e staple of the Bluejays defense this year will be the versatility of the lineup. Many players will be multiple position guys, and there is depth in many areas.
Outlook: If the Bluejays can win 20 games this season, it will be the rst time in school history a Bluejay baseball team has won 20 games three seasons in a row. e Jays are primed to do it as long as the team can stay healthy and can ll the holes from the seniors who graduated. e Jays play a very tough schedule, and as usual, the Sangamo is stacked with talent this year. Health and consistent pitching will be pivotal if the Bluejays want to make history.
Coach: Ryan Turner
Last year’s record: 23-13 (Elite 8)
Returning starters and what they’ll contribute: Brady Turner (.419 BA, 52 H, 20 extra-base hits, 43 RBIs; 56 IP, 4-1-1 W/L/S, 78 K, 2.11 ERA) — Expect Brady to continue to improve and help lead us at the plate and on the mound.

Key losses: Brock Runyon (55
IP, 7-2 record, 2.73 ERA); Eli Olson (53 IP, 7-2 record, 2.62 ERA); Jace Lautemann (.377 BA, 4 HR, 30 RBIs). We de nitely lost a lot of proven innings on the mound that will need to be picked up.
Key newcomers: Senior Bryson Mossman will be playing again. I expect him to anchor my out eld and be a tough out at the plate.
Returning all-conference or All-State players: Brady Turner All-State Honorable Mention, WIVC Pitcher of the Year; Talon ompson, All-WIVC
Team leaders: Brady and Talon are my two captains and voices in the dugout, but with that being said I have an amazing group of seniors that all lead by example. Jacob Brown, Dalton Brown, Sam Long, Oliver Smith all have leadership abilities and are high character men that can voice concerns/ corrections anytime in a positive way.
Is there a player who might surprise people this year? We have a few options for this category and I hope it’s a few of them, but right now I’m picking Jonas Brown as a name that will be a positive impact for us.
What is one area of growth you’ve emphasized this o -season? Strength, and speci cally arm strength.
Schedule notes: Very early test in Millington, Tenn., where we will face some really tough baseball programs from the South. We play Central State Eight foes Glenwood, Sacred Heart-Gri n and Jacksonville, plus Pleasant Plains, Father McGivney, Mount Pulaski, and Depaul Prep. On paper, WIVC opponents Brown County, Calhoun and Carrollton all can be very tough this year.
Pitching overview: Brady will be our ace. Jacob Brown, Kale Reich, Samuel Long, Jonas Brown will all log innings and be key to our success.
Hitting overview: Talon and Brady are our current frontrunners for power and average, but Anson Butcher and Kale

Reich are looking really good right now, too. I feel up and down the lineup we will not have an easy out, and I feel like we are going to be better than last year o ensively.
Fielding overview: Talon ompson catching, Dalton Brown and Jacob Brown up the middle, and Bryson Mossman in center eld give us a very solid defensive base. We have a lot of capable defenders that will be vying for time.
We like to believe that Routt baseball teams are mentally tough and physically prepared. We believe that we can compete
and enjoy this sport at Routt!
Coach: Jody Parrish
Assistant coaches: Jon Tate and Cody Parrish
Last year’s record: 2-22
Roster: Seniors Cooper Parrish, Grant Fricke, Jacob Cook, Aiden Crews and Will Burton; juniors Sam Miller and Razon Vega; sophomores Nate Strubbe, Austin urman, Hunter Ballinger, Charlie Roegee, Ben Meyer and Carson Nergenah; freshmen Parker Kinstle, Nolan Werries, Ryley Lovekamp, Mathew Bell, Cooper Lane, Sawyer Edwards, Mikey Breckenridge and Ryker Howell.
Returning starters: Cooper Parrish (catcher; injured last season, no stats); Grant Fricke (middle INF/P; .329 BA, 23 H, 18 1B, 4 2B, 1 HR); Jacob Cook (1B/OF; .217 BA, 5 H, 4 1B, 1 2B); Sam Miller (CF/P; .278 BA, 20 H, 14 1B, 4 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR); Razon Vega (P/OF; .156 BA, 7 H, 7 1B); Nate Strubbe (INF/P; .246 BA, 16 H, 14 1B, 2 2B); Charlie Roegge (middle INF/P/C).
and use them to get them better.
We have lots of underclassmen who will get some playing time, and they will make a good contribution to the team to help us win games. I’m not going to put names on who will. I really feel good about our sophomores and freshmen that are playing.
We have one returning All-Conference player — Grant Fricke — and he always will work hard for you.
Our seniors will be our leaders. A few of them have started varsity since freshman year, and know the game well. ey are vocal and will point out things to help other players get better.
I don’t think I have one player that will surprise myself or anyone. I think they all have what it takes to help us win. ey will do what we ask and give 100 percent while doing it.
I challenged the boys when I got the job to go out during the o -season and put in the work that will help them be better at the plate and in the eld.
might throw more this year. Grant Fricke had an arm issue last year, and I don’t think he will be able to pitch this year, but we will see how he is. If not, we have guys that will step in and give us some innings.
Fricke has always been solid at the plate. Cooper Parrish is always a big threat when he is up — especially when runners are on. Sam Miller has a solid bat and will help us to get runs across the plate. We have other players that will be able to contribute at the plate.
I think our team is very hungry. e past couple of years we have struggled to be over .500, and they want to change that. We just have to stay positive and keep looking forward and don’t look back at games we have lost. If we can do that, we will do good.
If we stay healthy and keep working hard and never give up, we will be successful this year.
and beat anyone across the diamond and give 100 e ort toward that day in, day out. We are going to have ups and downs this season, but we are going to be prepared and ready for anything the postseason o ers.
is is how I de ne a successful season: knowing that my players have worked and played to the very best of their abilities. ey enjoyed coming to the ballpark daily. But also to know that they are more prepared to face the trials of this world and know the amazing love and hope that Jesus provides. Life is bigger than baseball, but man, we do love
I feel good about this year with these boys. Last year some of the boys were thrown into positions due to injuries. ey work hard and are not afraid to get their hands dirty. ese boy want to win, so they will work hard and learn from mistakes

Our conference will be tough this year, which in my opinion, it’s always tough. So we just have to go out and play one game at a time and keep getting better every game. Routt, Brown County and West Central have had great programs for a while now, and we will look forward to those games and do our best to win those games.
Pitching we will be OK, I think. We will have some that didn’t throw a lot last year but
Coach: Grant DeWitt
Last year’s record: 23-6 (regional champions; lost to Routt in sectional championship)
Returning starters: We have four returning starters that will be coming back to this year’s team.
Tucker Arnold (junior) — Tucker was a utility player for us last year. He ended the

season hitting .318. He recorded 14 RBIs and scored 15 runs. We look for Tucker to have a big year and carry some of the leadership role, as we lost several key players from last year’s team. Tucker has two years of starting experience, so we are hopeful that will carry into his junior year and help the incoming freshmen quickly transition into high school baseball.
Anthony Hance (junior) — Anthony is another two-year starter for us that will be returning. Anthony hit .300 last year with 19 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He was also a part of the pitching staff where he recorded 34 innings pitched with a 3.29 ERA. We are looking for Anthony to continue making big strides like he did from his freshman year to sophomore year. With his athleticism, Anthony will be a utility player for us this year when he is not on the mound.
Ben Bangert (sophomore) — Ben got thrown into some varsity playing time last year. He played right field for us and showed growth throughout the season. We are looking for him to take over at first base this year after losing Carson Brown. Also looking for Ben to develop more confidence at the plate and be a more consistent hitter in the lineup.
Hayden Johns (sophomore) — Hayden is another sophomore who saw some varsity action last year as a freshman. We are also looking for him to make big strides this year on the diamond both with

the bat and on the pitching mound.
Key losses: Four of the five seniors that started are playing college baseball.
Carson Brown — All State/all-conference player (currently at Lincoln Land playing baseball). Carson was our everyday first baseman. He hit .516, with an OBP of .596. Carson had 10 doubles, 8 home runs, 56 RBIs and scored 40 runs.
Dalton Hutton — All-State/ all-conference player (currently at Lincoln Land playing baseball). Dalton was a primary outfielder and pitcher. Dalton was a force at the plate, hitting .392 with an OBP of .508. He had 9 doubles, 5 home runs, 24 RBIs and led the team with 45 runs scored. He was also a force on the mound, where he had a record of 6-1 with a 1.70 ERA while striking out 84 batters.
Cameron Sievers — allconference player (currently playing baseball at Illinois College). Cameron was our everyday second baseman and pitcher. Cam hit .270, had 13 RBIs and scored 37 runs. He was great at bunting and recorded 11 sacrifices. Cam was also a beast on the mound for us last year, going 8-0 while recording a 1.44 ERA and striking out 74 batters.
Landyn Woods (currently playing baseball at Illinois College). Landyn played a majority of the season at shortstop. Landyn was a staple in the middle of our lineup over the past two years. His timely hitting will be missed. He ended

last season with a .337 batting average and a .425 on-base percentage while hitting four home runs, with 28 runs scored. Landyn also was a reliever for us on the mound.
Caden Meyer — Caden was our primary catcher, and he pitched a few innings. His work behind the plate, and the pop he provided in the middle of the lineup, will be missed. Caden hit .296 last season with 2 home runs, 17 RBIs and 17 runs scored. Caden’s personality will be what is missed most in the dugout this year.
Key newcomers: We
have several key newcomers entering the program this year. With regard to positions and expectations, those are hard to determine at this time as we have several positions that will be up for grabs. With that being said, we are looking for several incoming freshmen to play key roles in our program this year. Some of the names that will be entering the program will be Thrice Kirkpatrick, Blaine Vortman, Jackson and Emerson Little, Corbin Arnold, and Daxton Littig.
Team leaders: Going into this season, we will be looking for two juniors — Tucker Arnold
baseball games in the past, and we are looking forward to him coming into the program and having an instant impact. Thrice more than likely will be playing the infield. He also will find himself on the mound during key situations.
What is one area of growth you’ve emphasized this offseason? The biggest area of growth that we will focus on this year is knowledge of the game. With such a young roster, as coaches we are going to have to coach our kids up quicker than ever before. It will be a challenge, but one that the coaching staff is looking forward to.
Schedule notes: Our schedule is going to be difficult from the start. We have also added some new opponents to the schedule this year that will give our kids a challenge!
Pitching overview: Pitching this year will be a group effort. I look for junior Anthony Hance and sophomores Ben Bangert, and Hayden Johns to take the ball in a majority of the conference games. The rest of the innings will have to be filled by several freshman arms.
Hitting overview: Different from last year, we are going to have to scratch runs this upcoming season as we lost a lot of power from the lineup. I look forward to working with this group of hitters and creating a battling mentality at the plate.
and Anthony Hance — to take the leadership role. Both have been two-year starters and have been a part of two seasons where they have learned how to win and be a part of some big games. My hopes are that they can lead by example in continuing the West Central baseball tradition, not only in winning baseball games but how we go about our business on and off the field.
Is there a player who might surprise people this year? One player that might surprise people this year is freshman Thrice Kirkpatrick. Although he is only a freshman, he has played some high level travel
Fielding overview: Going into the season, we have several open positions that will have to be determined through the first couple weeks of practice. I could see us having multiple different lineups throughout the season as we will have to move guys around to see what works best. What will define this group? West Central baseball has had a great three-year run. We have guys on this team that have been key parts to two of those runs, and hopefully the experience can translate into this upcoming season. My ultimate goal is for the boys to work hard daily and continue to get better as the season progresses.
Coach: Kait Dodson
Last year’s record: 18-11
Returning starters: Autumn Bowman (senior out elder) — We expect Autumn to be a huge part of our defense and create a strong out eld presence.
Kylynn Maltby (senior catcher) — We expect Kylynn to be our leader. She will help us tremendously behind the plate and also in our lineup as our cleanup hitter.
Lauren Coats (senior out elder) — Lauren can make the impossible plays look easy and will also be a great asset to our batting lineup.
Khloe Kearns (sophomore pitcher) — Khloe is our ace. She is stronger than last year and has more con dence than before.
Ava Quigley (sophomore in elder) — Ava is our quick le y who will be instrumental in the eld and at the plate.
Key losses: Bella Palmer, rst baseman; Vanessa Nunez, shortstop; Shelby Goodrich, pitcher/in elder
Key newcomers: Ola Quigley (freshman utility player) — We expect Ola to make her presence known. She is a leader on and o the eld. She is a great defender, no matter where she plays. She also has one of the most powerful swings on our team this season.
Mia Simpson (freshman rst baseman/pitcher) — We expect

Mia to ll some big shoes at rst base this year. She also comes to us with a great stick and great con dence.
Ava Knous (freshman in elder) — Ava brings power and a skilled defense. She will help us immensely at bat and on the eld.
Hallie Lawson (senior out elder) — Hallie was injured all last year, so we are very excited for her to return to us for her nal season. She is strong and a great leader. She’ll be a major asset to our lineup.
Returning all-conference or All-State players: Kylynn Maltby Team leaders: Kylynn Maltby is a leader vocally. She is our senior who sees the eld every play and can direct tra c. Hallie Lawson is a leader by example. She has a great attitude and is helpful to the younger players. Ola Quigley is a leader vocally and by example. She is a freshman, but that doesn’t matter to her. She was born to lead.
What is one area of growth you’ve emphasized this oseason? I always emphasize minimizing mistakes. Mistakes are going to happen. What is important is how you respond and make the next play.
Schedule notes: Our conference is pretty competitive with Liberty, QND, West Hancock, Payson, Rushville, etc. We’ll be put to the test early on and have a few tough weeks in a row in our schedule, but we like the competitiveness. at is what gets us ready for postseason.

Pitching overview: Our ace pitcher and go-to will be Khloe Kearns. She will see the majority of the innings we play. Ava Quigley and Mia Simpson will also see some varsity innings throughout the season. We have two other pitchers that might need to make appearances here and there, but we will see what the season brings.
Hitting overview: We should have a decent lineup of hitters. Kylynn Maltby will be sure to lead us for the third season in a row. Hallie Lawson, Lauren Coats, Autumn Bowman, Khloe Kearns, Ola Quigley, Ava Knous and Mia Simpson will all contribute to our varsity lineup for power. Ava Quigley will contribute to our small-ball game.
Fielding overview: We’ll be testing out di erent combinations early on to nd where girls t the best, but we should have a decent out eld and strong in elders to lead the way.
What will de ne this group? ese girls are some of the most talented I have coached in my 11 years. ey have all the potential to do great things. ey just need to stay focused, work as a team, and minimize mistakes.
What would de ne a successful season for this team? A successful season for this team would mean growth, teamwork and positive attitudes. A winning season and going far in the postseason would be nice, too, but success comes from many other things as well.
Coach: David Woodru
Last year’s record: 7-23
Returning starters: Jamie Loehr (junior shortstop, .512 batting average); Nena Boylen sophomore catcher/in elder/ out elder, .397 batting average); Taylor Craven (sophomore in elder, .393 batting average); Lilly Ham (junior rst baseman, .380 batting average); Ranessa Wort (junior in elder); Joie Ham (senior out elder); Olivia Martinez (senior catcher/ in elder); Riley Buss (junior pitcher/out elder); Mandy Frank (sophomore out elder)
Kilyn Oxley (junior pitcher/ out elder)
Key losses: Elizabeth Christiansen, Sammy Johnson
Key newcomers: Alivia Akins has returned for her senior season. She can play all over the eld for us.
Freshman Charly Maxwell — great kid, ball player. She will hit in the middle of the order, do some catching and probably play some on the in eld also.
Returning all-conference player: Jamie Loehr
Team leaders: Jamie Loehr, more of a lead by example, but I am going to work on her becoming more vocal.
Is there a player who might surprise people this year?
Lilly Ham. She was the most improved player on the team last year, and I anticipate a
big season for her. Also, Riley Buss — her hitting really started coming around last year, and she will be pivotal to our success as she and Kilyn Oxley will do a majority of the pitching.
What is one area of growth you’ve emphasized this oseason? Teamwork. Learning how to make sure the team is the most important part of playing.
Schedule notes: I believe that we can be around .500, which is a huge improvement from losing 19 games in 2024. We won seven games last year and made some strides, and I believe we can make an even bigger jump this year.
Pitching overview: Riley Buss and Kilyn Oxley will be our two main pitchers this season. e number one goal we have is throwing strikes. We have to consistently throw strikes to be able to stay in and compete in games.
Hitting overview: I believe that Jamie Loehr is the most underrated player in the area. She has hit o of everyone but seems to be forgotten when it comes to postseason things, some of that due to the fact that we are rebuilding and have not won many games since 2023.
Nena Boylen and Taylor Craven both had tremendous freshman seasons, and I anticipate they will build upon that. ey will both be batting near the top of the order. ey’re both very di erent hitters. Taylor brings more slug, but Nena has a quick bat, and she can really y on the basepaths.
I anticipate that freshman Charly Maxwell will really be an anchor for our o ense this year and for the next three years in high school. She is smart — a true ballplayer who will grind atbats and has a great knowledge of the game.
Fielding overview: De nitely not sure where we will line up as far as defense goes, but I know a couple of things: Jamie Loehr will be our shortstop, and Olivia Martinez will probably do a majority of the catching — but Charly and Nena will get some time back there also. Joie Ham locked down le eld last year and is getting better at it with each rep.
I’m not exactly sure where Ranessa, Taylor, Nena and Charly will play, but I anticipate they will earn starting spots. What will de ne this group? I have this positive outlook on what I feel we can accomplish. We will come and work hard, be prepared, and still enjoy the game that we all love. e program is pointed in the right direction, and I feel we will be successful again in the future, but we really need to take that next step this season as a group, and I feel like we can. What would de ne a successful season for this team? A successful season for us: Less than four walks per game for our pitchers; playing four innings or more for every game; getting a couple of upset victories; and nishing with somewhere around 12-15 wins.

Coach: Travis Klingler
Last year’s record: 38-1 (state champions)
Returning starters: Hayden McMurtrie (junior, .409 BA, 34 RBIs) — She will primarily play shortstop this year and will be a key leader for our in eld defense. She will most likely also bat at the top of the order.
Brookelyn Eilerman (junior, .417 BA, 39 RBIs) — She will be in the mix for a corner in eld spot as well as handle a bulk of the pitching duties. She will most likely slot into the middle of the hitting order.
Courtney Waldheuser (junior, .333 BA, 28 RBIs) — She will slot in at either second base or in the out eld. We look forward to continuing her hot hitting streak as she ended last season and into the postseason.

Returning all-conference: Hayden McMurtrie and Brookelyn Eilerman.
Potential surprises: Many of our freshmen have excelled at the junior high level and play high level competitive so ball, and I think they will surprise many this year. ey include Kadyn Lake, Hadley Lake and Collins Newton.
Schedule notes: Conference rivals will be Calhoun, Pleasant Hill and Triopia. We also play in the PORTA Slam, which will be competitive.
Pitching overview: Brookelyn Eilerman and Kadyn Lake will get the bulk of the innings for our team this year. Brookelyn has been given limited opportunities over the past two years given our upperclassmen, so I look for her to have a breakout year.
Hitting overview: e team will be led by the returning players, with a strong junior class. We have a lot of new players this year and will be extremely young. However, we have many that have extensive travel ball experience, and I expect this team to be fast and aggressive.
Fielding overview: We have many girls who can play multiple positions, and that will be a factor as the pitching sta rounds into form.
Season outlook: We expect to contend for the WIVC championship as well as make

an extended postseason run. We want to build o our past four years of excellence and winning the state championship in 2025. We hope to have created a good culture of winning and will need our younger players to step up.

Coach:
Craig Pedersen

Key additions: Emma Kurfman (freshman, shortstop/ pitcher) — Emma will man the most important position in the in eld. She will handle the defensive calls and provides a nice bat.
Kara Weatherby (freshman, third base/utility) — Kara is another freshman who will be counted on to provide sound defense at third.
Ruby Waters (freshman, in eld/out eld) — Ruby is going to play the majority of games at second base.
Marlee Bonner (junior, out eld) — Marlee will be counted on to ll an out eld position.
We will be very young on the eld. We will practice hard to make our skill set better. If we can play sound defense, we can be in most games.
Pitching overview: Our primary pitcher will be Ashtyn Wainman. She will have the bulk of the innings. I look for good things from her on the mound. She will have to e ectively change speeds in order to keep
opposing hitters o -balance.
Backing her up is Emma Kurfman. Emma comes in as a freshman and has a lot of responsibility. She will also have to change speeds to keep the opposition o -balance.
Hitting overview: From our open elds that we have had, I have been very impressed with Ashtyn Wainman, Claire Bennett and Emily Lemons. All have the potential to hit home runs at any time. Ellorie Lambeth also has a good bat and will be asked to provide some o ensive punch.
Freshmen Emma Kurfman, Ruby Waters and Kara Weatherby will be counted on to provide o ense, while senior Caramia Martin will be asked to slap more from the le side of the plate.
Fielding overview: Defensively, we will be young and make some mistakes early. We will learn from those mistakes and get better. e best thing about these young ladies is they are coachable and will listen to the coach.
Outlook: I feel that this will be a tough-minded team. I believe that they can be successful this year. Winning only three games last year, anything over that total will be fantastic. We need to get Griggsville-Perry back to the way they were in 2015, competing for regional titles. It will take some time, but this year is the start of this. We want to become a team on the schedule that people do not want to play.
Coach: Kelly Brockhouse
Last year’s record: 10-14-1
Returning starters: We are returning eight out of our nine starters this year, including, importantly, pitcher Kenzie Law (9-14-1 record, 127 strikeouts, 3.86 ERA) and catcher Chase Neice (.333 batting average, 5 HR, 5 3B).

And Mylee Niehaus will be a utility player and get reps in the in eld, out eld and pitching.
Returning all-conference
players: Maci is a returning second team All-Central State Eight pick as a freshman last year. I am looking forward to a big leap in leadership, with a chance to move up to rst team all-conference this year. Maci’s ceiling is really high, and I’m looking forward to the next three years.
Team leaders: Kenzie Law, Maggie Gerard and Maci Moore will be the leaders of the team. Kenzie, a standout so ball pitcher, brings a erce competitive attitude to the eld that sets the tone for her entire team. Whether she’s ring fastballs past hitters or rallying her teammates in tight moments, her intensity and determination make her one of the toughest competitors in the game.
Maggie and Maci will cover the le side of the in eld and bring unwavering positivity and steady leadership to every practice and game they play. eir encouraging voices and composed presence in the eld keep teammates focused and con dent, making them the heart of the team.
What is one area of growth you’ve emphasized this oseason? We emphasized hitting in the o -season, concentrating on developing great hitting techniques.
Schedule notes: Competing in the demanding Central State 8 Conference, the so ball team knows the road ahead will test its depth and resilience against some of the region’s toughest opponents. Fortunately, the rst part of the season features a
more forgiving non-conference schedule, giving the squad valuable time to build chemistry and sharpen its execution.
Pitching overview: Junior pitcher Kenzie Law will take the ball as the ace of the high school so ball team for the second straight season, anchoring the sta with experience and con dence. Last year, she appeared in 24 games and earned nine wins while proving she could handle the grind of a full schedule. She racked up an impressive 127 strikeouts, consistently overpowering hitters and getting her team out of tough situations. Law nished the season with a solid 3.86 ERA, showing her ability to limit damage against strong competition.
Beyond the numbers, her poise in the circle and erce competitive drive set the tone for the entire roster. As she enters her junior campaign, the team will once again lean on her leadership and reliability every time she steps into the circle.
Hitting overview: Our high school so ball team will lean on a powerful core of hitters in Maggie Gerard, Maci Moore and Chase Neice to spark the o ense this season. Maci Moore led the way with an outstanding .433 batting average, blasting three home runs and consistently setting the tone at the plate. Chase Neice added plenty of pop to the lineup, hitting .333 with a team-high ve home runs to provide key run production.

In the out eld, Alivia Woods sets the standard with her range and reliability in center eld. Together, they provide steady leadership and con dence behind the pitching sta , giving the team a strong defensive backbone.
What will de ne this group? is high school so ball team’s identity will be built on experience, balance and a competitive edge that shows up every inning. With seven returning starters, the group brings chemistry and leadership that set a steady tone both on and o the eld. Solid pitching and dependable defense will ultimately de ne this team, giving them the consistency and toughness needed to compete at a high level.
What would de ne a successful season for this team? A successful season for this high school so ball team would start with nishing above .500 and showing consistent growth from the rst pitch to the nal out. Building on

their experience and depth, the team expects to compete every night and prove they belong among the area’s top programs. Another key benchmark will be putting themselves in position to contend for a regional championship. If they are playing their best so ball at the end of the season and battling deep into the postseason, it will be a year they can proudly call a success.
Coach:
Brian Bandy

Junior Lilly Bramblett ( rst base) — Lilly played quality defense for us during the season and came up with needed big hits during the year.
Sophomore Adie Hopkins — Adie did a great job pitching for us last season. She was the winning pitcher in each of our wins.
Key losses: 3B Carlie Smith, CF Halle Bandy, 2B/DP Autumn Green
Key newcomers: Freshman Calli Smith (pitcher) — Calli can be a dynamic pitcher for us this season. She is also a strong hitter. Sophomore Kensey Davis
is a transfer who can be a key contributor for us.

Team leaders: Riley will be a leader for us this year. Maycee Shoemaker is a vocal player at catcher and a hard worker who will make a di erence for our team.
Is there a player who might surprise people this year? Junior Zoey Morris and sophomore Henley Hu man have matured into solid so ball players.
What is one area of growth you’ve emphasized this oseason? Coming into the season an emphasis has been working to your best potential and putting the ball in play.
Schedule notes: Williamsville and Olympia are always at the top of the Sangamo. Pleasant Plains should have a really good team. Auburn has gone to the state tournament the past few seasons, so they will still be a quality test for teams. We will play in the Scheel’s Slam in Spring eld and return to the Beardstown Tournament this year.
Pitching overview: Calli Smith and Adie Hopkins will log most of our innings this season. Our pitching should be the strength of our team, and what we will continue to build o of over the upcoming seasons.
Hitting overview: Riley Holloway and Calli Smith will be our top hitters. Riley is really good at getting on base, and getting her home will be key for
us. Calli Smith gives us a strong power threat. We have some girls who can drive the ball, but we will look to scratch out runs throughout the year.
Fielding overview: Riley will plug in really well for us at shortstop. We will build around her and try to put the rest of the girls in place to be successful.
What will de ne this group? Riley really has a positive personality and has matured over the year. We will learn from her as we go. Besides her, we are relatively young, so it will be exciting to see what type of identity these girls take on over the year.
What would de ne a successful season for this team? Our so ball program has been on a roller coaster over the years with many good teams, some average, and some years in which we have struggled. We have been on the downside for a few years, but I anticipate this year we begin that upward trend on the coaster again. at upward ride can be rickety at times, but it should be fun to see how we continue to build upon this season.
Coach: Nathan Roberts
Last year’s record: 3-18
Returning players: Brandy Davidson (P/3B) — Brandy moved back to the in eld and took over at third when we were

struggling to ll a hole. She was fearless at the hot corner and helped out on D a lot!
Chelsey Castleberry (P/ IF) — Chelsey returned for her sophomore season, back in the circle a er missing a whole year due to injury. As the season progressed she got stronger in the circle, and her bat was a consistent threat at the plate
Larissa Heberling (2B) — Larissa shu ed around the eld last year, lling in wherever needed along with moving around the lineup to help with some consistency at the plate.
Jaycee Arnold (SS/OF) — Jaycee is our speedster on and o the bases. She patrolled center eld for us most of last year until she moved to shortstop to shu e things around. ere wasn’t a y ball hit that she didn’t catch or at least come close to running down in the gaps
Madilyn Wahl (OF) — Madi was a big surprise for us last year in the out eld. She played both corners and handled them very well. e experience was a big plus, and I could see big things coming from her defensively this year.
Outlook: We returned all players o the team last year. We should be defensively sound, with pitching that will keep us in games, giving our D a chance to make some plays. We should be a scrappy team with some team speed to put pressure on opponents this year.
We will have some maturity in the circle for us this year. Brandy Davidson and Chelsey
Castleberry both saw a lot of time there last year, and both learned a lot. We have a couple of incoming freshmen in Adilynn Churchill and Ella Ford who could also see some time in the circle to give the other two a break.
Hitting-wise, we have some ladies with some pop in their bats, but we will look to be gap hitters and move runners around when they’re on.
Roster: Brandy Davidson (senior, 3B/P), Chelsey Castleberry (senior, SS/P), Madelynn Wahl (senior, OF), Jaycey Arnold (senior, OF/SS), Larissa Heberling (senior, 2B), Breanna Davidson (junior, OF), Lynley Rollins (junior, INF), Marie McFarlane (junior, INF), Savette Scho eld (junior, INF), Alivia Beams (sophomore, P/INF), Brooklyn Sharrow (sophomore, C), Eva Schenck (sophomore, OF), Abbigail Janus (sophomore, 1B), Ines Mesa Gracia (sophomore, OF), Lucia Sanchez-Vega (sophomore, OF), Jaiden Bodwell (freshman, INF), Jenna Gibson (freshman, OF), Ella Ford (freshman, P/INF), Summer Coates (freshman, OF), Bailey Jackson (freshman, OF), Adilynn Churchill (freshman, SS/P)

Josie McClintock (junior catcher/utility) — Josie o ers great versatility and has the ability to play eight or nine positions on the eld. She has a great “get on base approach” and should take a huge step this year with expanded opportunities with the graduation of Grace Henry, last year’s starting catcher.
Kenley Gerard (senior out elder) — Kenley o ers versatility, e ort and leadership from the out eld. She has good speed and will focus on using her speed to her advantage this year.
Presley Brown (senior out elder) — Presley o ers a strong arm and speed from the out eld, has good pop in her bat and should have many RBI opportunities.
Sophia Gengler (junior in elder) — Sophie o ers versatility in the in eld, speed on the bases, and a good bat. We will look for Sophie to move up in the order, and work on getting on base to use her speed for the power hitters behind her. Key losses: Grace Henry (catcher) — Grace will be missed for her positive energy and

leadership as well as her on- eld presence. Grace managed the pitching sta well, controlled the running game from behind the plate, and was an All-State type hitter.
Emma Henry ( rst base) — Emma was a middle-of-theorder type hitter, and a positive role model. Her passion, ability and presence will be missed this year.
Lila Simon (utility/pitcher) — Lila’s positive attitude, versatility, tenacity and aggressiveness will be missed in the lineup and on the eld.
Taylor Peebles (out eld) — Taylor o ered solid elding and a powerful bat. We will miss her college scholarship type ability.
Key newcomers: Bella Bernard (senior OF/1B) — A er not playing for the past two seasons, Bella rejoined the program for her senior year. She has shown determination and commitment during open gym workouts and has been putting in extra work on her own time to get ready for the season. I expect Bella to compete for the rst base or out eld spots.
Jaylynn Grimsley (freshman P/UTIL) — Jaylynn joins the high school program a er a successful middle school career. Jaylynn will be the No. 2 or No. 3 pitcher, and will o er a change of pace option to come on in relief for Emma. Jaylynn will also compete with another freshman, Tinley Ruzich, for spot starts in the circle. Jaylynn will work to learn new positions in the out eld to get more chances to play.
Tinley Ruzich (freshman P/C/UTIL) — Tinley had a great middle school career in Pitts eld. She o ers versatility to play multiple positions. Tinley can play all nine positions on the eld and o ers generational type speed that can be a huge asset to the team this year. Tinley will compete to be a relief pitcher and also to get some spot starts.
Mattie Burton (freshman UTIL) — Mattie o ers speed, a solid bat, and the ability to play multiple positions well. Mattie will look to work into the mix,
work hard and make the most of her opportunities.
Daytlynn McCallister (freshman UTIL) — Daytlynn o ers versatility in the eld. She can play seven to nine positions on the eld. She has middleof-the-order type pop in her bat. She will look to continue to develop more of a contactrst approach and continue to improve throughout the season.
Returning all-conference players: Emma Wombles, all-conference pitcher; Torie Stambaugh, all-conference in eld.
Team leaders: Seniors Kenley Gerard, Torie Stambaugh, Bella Bernard and Emma Dipple all showed exceptional leadership qualities during the preseason open gym workouts through positive energy, hard work and vocal leadership. We will look forward to building their leadership throughout the season. Juniors Emma Wombles and Josie McClintock are also lead-by-example type players. Is there a player who might surprise people this year? Bella Bernard is a sleeper for us this year. She has not played in awhile, but is determined to contribute and have a good season. Also, we have a very solid freshman class. Sophomores Kinlee Griggs and Paige Willman are poised for breakout seasons. I also feel that Emma Wombles is severely underrated. I expect her to step forward and establish herself as one the most dominant pitchers in the area. What is one area of growth you’ve emphasized this oseason? We have talked a lot about establishing our identity of a team- rst mindset, and being a team that is ultra-aggressive; taking extra bases, moving runners over, an improved approach with runners in scoring position, and playing complimentary so ball.
Schedule notes: Liberty had a great postseason run last year and returns some key players. We play them twice and look forward to the challenge of competing against them. ere’s several other teams on the
schedule that made postseason runs last year, including Carrollton (game No. 2), Williamsville and Quincy Notre Dame.
Pitching overview: Emma Wombles will be our go-to in high leverage situations. She will be a workhorse. e freshmen (Tinley and Jaylynn) will o er change of pace relief innings when needed.
Hitting overview: We really want our identity to be a speed driven team with power hitters in the middle. We have several players with elite speed, including Sophie Gengler, Kenley Gerard, Tinley Ruzich and Mattie Burton. Our goal will be to utilize that speed to our advantage to scratch out runs. We also have some pop in the middle of the order. Emma Wombles, Presley Brown, Kinlee Griggs and Torie Stambaugh should have RBI opportunities with speed players on base in front of them. We also have some younger players with pop, including Paige Willman, Daytlynn McCallister and Jaylynn Grimsley.
Fielding overview: We haven’t had the opportunity to determine starters or positions yet, but we return last year’s starters at shortstop, third base, pitcher, and two out elders. ere are several positions that will have competition to determine starters. ose positions are rst base, out eld and utility.
What will de ne this group? Our goal is to put Pitts eld on the map for competitive so ball programs. We will do this through aggressive, fundamentally sound so ball. We will also work hard to develop. We have added some junior varsity games and will work hard to develop the underclassmen to be the future starters for the program. We are a young team but have upperclassman leadership.
Capable sophomores Kinlee Griggs and Paige Willman will be asked to step up and ll important roles as rst time varsity players. e
aforementioned freshmen will be asked to develop on the y as they are expected to get some varsity experience as freshmen. ey may not all be starters, but they will all be asked to step in and contribute. is varsity experience while still developing at JV will make them better in the future.
What would de ne a successful season for this team? Our goal is to win conference and regional championships. It is as simple as that.
Coach: Ryan Lowe
Last year’s record: 15-10
Roster: Abby Coy, Ada Little, Abi Henderson, Kaitlyn Borrowman, Taylor Koonce, Juliette Benz, Ridge Rodhouse, Graycelynn Cassie, Kaylee Toohill, Kate Hubbard.
Key losses: McKenna Winchell, Ava Wombles, Maddie Sitwell.
Returning starters: Kaitlyn Borrowman (shortstop, allconference), Abi Henderson (OF), Kaylee Toohill (OF), Kate Hubbard (1B).
Team leaders: Kaitlyn Borrowman, Abi Henderson.
Pitching overview: Our team has lost two quality pitchers over the past two seasons. We will look to our younger girls who have very limited pitching experience. It may be rough until we can nd a pitcher who can

consistently throw strikes.
Hitting overview: Junior Kaitlyn Borrowman has been a strong hitter for us the past couple of years. We need her to continue that this season. I look for her and our upperclassman, senior Abi Henderson, to produce runs for us.
We also have Kate Hubbard and Ada Little, both sophomores, who hit well as freshmen last year. We don’t have a lot of power, so our team will look to hit for average and try to scratch out as many runs as possible.
Fielding overview: Our defense will see a lot of new faces, with several of the older girls playing new positions. Our coaching sta is going to have to try to gure out where everyone ts to make us the best defensively as a team.
Coach: Jess Cameron
Last year’s record: 11-13
Returning starters: Aubrey Vogel will be our returning shortstop this year. Aubrey’s batting average was .494 last season. She scored a total of 30 runs for the team, with 33 RBIs and 14 stolen bases. She will hold a large leadership role this season as one of our only upperclassmen.
Bailey Dahmer is another
senior. She will be our returning out elder this season. She made 39 outs for our team last season and stole 12 bases.
Mackenzie Miller will be our returning pitcher this year. Last season she threw 130 innings and struck out 107 batters as a freshman. Mack had an on-base percentage of .405 last season, with 26 hits and 11 stolen bases.
Regan Heubner will be another returning starter this season. As a freshman, she had a batting average of .397, with 31 hits and 14 RBIs. Regan will play a strong role behind the plate this season.
Key losses: Morgan Miller was our starting third baseman last year. She held a large leadership role last season, with a elding percentage of .944, and 22 hits. Morgan was also selected honorable mention allconference last season.
Greta Butler was our starting center elder. She played a very instrumental role in creating a cohesive and friendly team atmosphere. She had a total of 14 hits last season.
Key newcomers: I have 13 freshmen this season, and there is a lot of talent among the grade. I expect a few of them to strongly contribute this season, as I have only nine returning players.
Returning all-conference players: Aubrey Vogel, rst team all-conference; Mackenzie Miller, honorable mention allconference.
Team leaders: Aubrey Vogel, Kylie Teimeyer and Bailey Dahmer are my three

upperclassmen this season. All three of them are very dedicated workers who lead by example. Is there a player who might surprise people this year? I think there are multiple freshmen who have the ability to surprise people this year.
What is one area of growth you’ve emphasized this oseason? Mental toughness.
Schedule notes: We added a game against Rochester this season. We are looking forward to facing Plains and Athens this year.
Pitching overview: Mackenzie Miller will pitch a large majority of our innings. She is our starting pitcher from last year. She has been working a lot over the o -season, so I am excited to see her on the mound again. Cora Murphy is another sophomore pitcher who will throw some innings. She has been putting in lots of work but currently has a minor back injury, so we’ll be keeping a close eye on her. ere may be a freshman pitcher or two.
Hitting overview: I think our team this season will be a combination of power hitters and playing small ball. Aubrey Vogel, Regan Huebner, Mackenzie Miller and Avery Sergent will likely lead our team at the plate, but I wouldn’t rule out any of our freshmen just yet. Kylie Teimeyer and Cora Murphy can also provide substantial power at the plate.
Fielding overview: Aubrey Vogel is the biggest anchor of our defense, playing shortstop.
Kylie Teimeyer is our senior rst baseman, Bailey Dahmer will be our center elder, and Regan Heubner is our catcher. Other than Mackenzie Miller as our starting pitcher, the rest of the positions are question marks at the moment.
What will de ne this group? We have 20 underclassmen and three seniors, so this group is very young, but I think they might surprise a lot of people this year.
What would de ne a successful season for this team? is team would really like to end with a better overall record than last year. It would also be nice for this year’s team to be as cohesive as last year’s team.
Coach: Ty Gebhardt
Last year’s record: 27-8
Returning starters: Mylee Tracy (pitcher) — We rely on Mylee defensively and o ensively to get us going. Pitching stats: 161 IP, 20-7, 115 H, 266 K, 2.039 ERA. Hitting stats: .519 BA, 67 H, 14 2B, 8 3B, 1 HR, 38 RBIs, 57 R, 17 BB, 22 SB
Lucie Dion (shortstop) — .419 BA, 49 H, 17 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 35 RBIs, 36 R, 12 BB, 4 HBP, 4 SB
Sophya Ogden (second base) — .341 BA, 31 H, 19 RBIs, 23 R, 19 BB, 5 HBP
Addilynn Tracy (out eld/ pitcher) — .390 BA, 48 H, 4 2B, 1 3B, 20 RBIs, 52 R, 12 BB, 2 HBP, 4 SAC, 9 SB
Mia McCombs (out eld) — .367 BA, 29 H, 6 2B, 4 3B, 4 HR, 26 RBIs, 25 R, 15 BB, 2 HBP, 2 SAC, 8 SB
Mallory Rohn (DH/ rst base)
— .352 BA, 25 H, 5 2B, 1 3B, 19 RBIs, 15 R, 4 BB, 1 HBP, 1 SAC, 1 SB

Key losses: Addison Rohn (catcher) — .520 BA, 65 H, 24 2B, 5 3B, 4 HR, 59 RBIs; Lindy Parlier (out eld) — .256 BA, 22 H, 11 RBIs, 25 R, 19 BB; Raye Greenstreet (third base) — .352 BA, 37 H, 6 2B, 1 HR, 31 RBIs, 37 R, 20 BB
Key newcomers: Mallory Rohn and Kenzie Meyer will be called on to contribute both o ensively and defensively this year.
Molly Hager (out eld) — Molly practiced hard all year last year and we love her work ethic and expect her to be an immediate boost to our o ense and out eld.
Sophie Wells (OF/INF) — Sophie is a hard-working athlete that loves to play hard. She will give us some options as an in elder, out elder and catcher. She’s fast and has a strong arm.
Hallie Clement (OF/INF) — Hallie is such a good athlete and works hard. Hallie is fast, and we are excited to see what her speed can help us do. She was a strong in elder in junior high and could see some time in the out eld this year as well.
Anala Massie (OF) — Anala is a hard worker. She comes to practice and works hard. She is fast and has experience in the out eld.
Returning all-conference and All-State players: Mylee Tracy (Second Team All-State, First Team All-WIVC), Lucie Dion and Addilynn Tracy (Honorable Mention All-State), Lucie Dion (Second Team All-WIVC)
Team leaders: Mylee is our leado hitter and has been for years. She gets us going and is our anchor as our pitcher. She gets to work when we need her to, and the defense trusts her to make their jobs easier as well.
they work hard in practice. Is there a player who might surprise people this year? I believe our young girls, especially our sophomore class, are going to help us get going this year. ey have some experience from their freshman year and hopefully will get comfortable with their roles on the team this year. We are having to move around some on defense to accommodate the loss of Addison Rohn as catcher last year. ere’s a lot of energy with these girls, and we will hit some bumps, but their work ethic will drive them to get better.
What is one area of growth you’ve emphasized this oseason? We have a lot of girls who play travel so ball. ey have been putting in the time getting at-bats and reps to bring a more solid and balanced team.
Schedule notes: We continue to have a strong conference, and our schedule is consistently keeping us focused. We have some matchups with teams like Liberty, Havana, QND, Rushville, Beardstown, that will push us to work hard, stay focused and push ourselves.
Pitching overview: Senior Mylee Tracy has been our girl since her freshman year, and we hope to see her have her best season yet as she has committed to UIS and can settle down and enjoy her last season as a Lady Trojan. When needed, Addilynn Tracy and Kenzie Meyer can come in and provide some help or rest for Mylee.
Dion (starting shortstop for three years) could be used in the catching spot, which would move Addilynn Tracy into the in eld. Filling in some losses to the in eld could be Kenzie Meyer (3B) and Mallory Rohn (1B). We have three to four di erent girls that could catch that would change what our in eld would look like.
We have a strong group defensively, but we are young. We have three seniors, no juniors, eight sophomores, and three freshmen. Mylee hitting her spots and getting us some good balls on defense will help this young team a lot.
What will de ne this group? ese girls are going to hit, and they are fast. We have put together some strong seasons for several years, and these seniors have been there for all of it. I see them to be great leaders and work hard to the nish.
What would de ne a successful season for this team? is team would love to win a conference title, but coming in and battling each day is their goal. ey are working hard in practice and have been playing a lot of so ball in the o season to prepare for another great season for Triopia.
Coach: Michelle Weber
Last year’s record: 2-15
sta . We’ve had one pitcher for the past two years, so having a couple of di erent pitchers will be a great asset.
Karlie Kendall can and will play several positions for me. Lexi Whitehead is new to the district, so we will nd out where she can play. Sophomore Jerzi Clark didn’t get to play last year due to concussion. Sophomore Marissa Metz played out eld in junior high.
Team leaders: We only have a few seniors, and only four total returning players, so we’re still trying to determine which player(s) will take on the leadership role. Is there a player who might surprise people this year? My two freshman pitchers, Jada Lawson and JJ Weber. What is one area of growth you’ve emphasized this oseason? Teamwork and positive self talk.
Pitching overview: We have four pitchers — Hallee Lawson, Jada Lawson, JJ Weber and Mia Sievers. At this point, everything is fair game. We have the luxury of not having to decide anything, knowing we have three other options if something doesn’t work out.
Hitting overview: We will be a young team, so we will have a couple that are power hitters, but we will also have to scratch out some runs.
Kenzie Meyer (DH/pitcher/ in eld) — .222 BA, (27 AB), 1 HR, 11 RBIs, 32 R, 8 BB, 3 HBP, 4 SAC, 3 SB
Lucie Dion, Sophya Ogden, Addilynn Tracy and Mia McCombs will bring experience both o ensively and defensively to our lineup. Lucie Dion is a vocal leader that you can always hear no matter what sport she’s playing. I can’t single out one player for work ethic. ese girls love so ball, and you can tell as
Hitting overview: Mylee Tracy has been one of the area leaders throughout her high school career, and I see her continuing to be consistent at the plate for us. I see good things happening from Lucie Dion, Addilynn Tracy, Sophya Ogden, Kenzie Meyer, Mallory Rohn and Molly Hager this year as well. Mia McCombs has been working hard in the o season and will be a strong leader in our lineup that can supply power!
Fielding overview: We are returning Mylee and Sophya Ogden (second base). Lucie
Returning starters: Hallee Lawson (senior, pitcher/OF); Myah Little (senior, catcher/2B); Zela Walker (junior, 3B); Paisley Sturtevant (sophomore, 3B/OF).
Key losses: Brylee Lawson (SS/ CF), .372 batting average.
Key newcomers: Freshman Mia Sievers will be a great addition to our out eld. Makynlee Price will be a great utility player. She can help behind the plate and also third base and shortstop. Jada Lawson and JJ Weber will be great additions to our pitching
Fielding overview: We are currently trying to ll the rst base position. e rst full team practice was delayed because of the success of our girls’ basketball team, so several things are still up in the air. What will de ne this group? is group has a lot of diverse personalities, but for the most part they all like to come and have fun when we’re together. A lot of these girls haven’t played this sport together, so developing the trust and team concept will de nitely be a key factor for us. What would de ne a successful season for this team? A cohesive, uid team that never lets the bad days win.
