Employer: Cooperative Elevator Company
1. Current job title/responsibilities: I am the Grain Marketing Manager at the Cooperative Elevator Company in Pigeon. I am responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the grain department related to logistics, risk management, and merchandising the corn, soybeans, and wheat grown by area farmers to end users throughout Michigan and the eastern U.S. and Canada. I also assist in selling dry beans (black, navy, and small red beans) to canning and packaging companies throughout the U.S. and export markets.
2. What is the best aspect of your job? My favorite part of the job is building relationships. Having grown up in the area, I knew a fair amount of farmers when I started at the Coop in 2021, but that number has grown signi cantly over the years and in many cases has turned into not just working relationships but also very good friendships. I also really enjoy how every day is a little di erent, each bringing it’s own unique challenges but also allowing me to experience and make decisions a lot of people my age wouldn’t normally get to do.
3. Why is your community a good place to live and work? Having grown up on a farm and always wanting to work in the agriculture industry, Huron County is great place for that with some of the most productive agricultural land in the country. I also think it’s invaluable how tight knit our communities are. A friend of mine always says that no matter where he is in the Thumb, if his car broke down, there’s a farmer or a friend he knows that would drop what they’re doing to come help, and I think that says a lot about the kind of people that live here.

4. What one person has in uenced you the most? My parents, both are very hard-working and are great role models for me. They have been very supportive of me through school, college, and now my professional career, and have always gone out of their way to help me succeed.

I have already achieved my goal of being on the leadership team at the Coop and being able to serve on a variety of community and agricultural boards (Brook eld Township Board, Huron County Community Foundation Board of Directors, Michigan Agribusiness Association Board of Directors). My goal is to continue to use my leadership skills and relationships to help our local community and the agriculture industry thrive whether that’s serving on additional boards or in other ways.

Age: 29
Spouse/Children: Husband: Jason Hanson. Daughter: Vivian, 2. Son: Blair, 1.
Hometown: Harbor Beach. Currently residing in Bad Axe
Employer: Turning Point ABA Autism Clinic; Thumb Area Psychological Services
1. Current job title/responsibilities: I am a Board Certi ed Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and the Clinical Supervisor at Turning Point. In this role I work to ensure high-quality, ethical, and e ective services for clients and families. Responsibilities include overseeing RBT credentialing and ongoing compliance (we currently have over 50 technicians), providing BACB-required supervision to interns in both Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, and completing quarterly RBT performance review evaluations to support sta growth and accountability. I conduct all client bi-annual re-evaluations, which involve parent interviews, formal assessments, and the development of individualized data-driven treatment plans. Once plans are nalized, I manage clinical programming and collaborate with Lead Analysts to ensure treatment is implemented with delity, monitored through data, and adjusted to maximize meaningful client progress. The role also extends beyond clinical
work to include marketing, website, and social media management to promote services and community outreach.
2. What is the best aspect of your job? The best part of my role is the ability to make a meaningful impact at every level of care. It’s rewarding to not only support children and families through individualized, life-changing treatment, but also mentor sta and interns as they grow into con dent, compassionate professionals. Watching a treatment plan come to life through collaboration with Lead Analysts and RBTs and then seeing real progress in a child’s communication, independence, and quality of life is incredibly ful lling. The role blends leadership, creativity, and connection, which builds strong teams, strengthens programs, and helps shape services that truly change lives.
3. Why is your community a good place to live and work? What makes our community such a great place to live and work is the people. It’s the kind of community where neighbors become friends, local businesses support each other, and everyone takes pride in where they’re from. You can enjoy the natural beauty of Lake Huron and our open countryside while still having opportunities to build a meaningful career close to home. Life here feels personal your work is valued, your voice matters, and you get to be part of a community that truly cares about its future.
4. What one person has in uenced you the most? It’s hard to choose just one when I was given two great parents. My mom and dad have shaped who I am through their constant support, work ethic, and values. They taught me the importance of showing up, caring about others, and doing things the right way even when no one is watching. My dad showed me what leadership and dedication look like by owning his own construction business and consistently giving back to the community through not only his work but his service to others. He taught me the value of hard work, integrity, and taking pride in what you build. My mom shaped me in a di erent way but equally powerful way by raising my three siblings and me with endless strength and love. She taught us resilience, compassion, and the importance of family. She has a way of making everyone feel welcome people are naturally drawn to her, and others always want to be around her because of her warmth, encouragement, humor, and genuine care for others. Together, they modeled what it means to work hard while also balancing the importance of family.
5. What is your biggest goal in life? My biggest goal in life is to be someone others can count on as a good mom, a loyal friend, and a leader who makes a real di erence. I want to raise my children with love, values, and stability while also showing them what it looks like to work hard for something meaningful. At the same time, I’m also driven to continue growing our clinic and services so we can reach more families and provide highquality, compassionate care. For me, success isn’t just about achievement, but about balancing family, friendships, and impact in a way that truly helps people and leaves things better than I found them.
6. What do you do to relieve stress? When I need to de-stress, I enjoy spending time at home with my family. Tidying up and organizing helps calm my mind, and I love getting creative by planning activities for my kids or working on social media projects. My husband and I also like to watch comedy podcasts/shows. Plus, a little reality TV, a bit of shopping, and of course, plenty of iced co ee or energy drinks keep me energized and balanced during busy days.
7. What are your three favorite movies? For whatever reason, Grown Ups has always been my comfort movie. I love watching Four Christmases during the holidays, and right now (thanks to my 2 year old daughter) Frozen is a staple in our household.
8. Name a book that has in uenced you. The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom. This book reminds you that every person you meet and every experience you have is connected, even when you don’t realize it at the time. It helped me see more meaning in challenges and understanding that our actions, big and small, can impact others in powerful ways.
9. If you could be any ctional character, who would it be? I would be Charlotte York because I am a Type-A perfectionist. Like her, I thrive on organization, high standards, and having a mental (or actual) checklist for everything. I want things done right, not just done, and I may quietly panic when they’re not. I am loyal and always trying to make life, work, and relationships run a little smoother for everyone around me even if it means color-coding the chaos rst.
10. What quote do you live by? “Today’s ABA is not to redirect, restrain, or merely manage and modify. Today’s is to understand, share, and shape. Today’s is to prioritize safety, rapport, and the televisibility of what we do above all else.” - Dr. Greg Hanley, Ph.D., BCBA-D
