We are so lucky to have such cool weather. During the summer, I start planning the rest of the year based on feedback from our members and staff, alongside new ideas to keep us all motivated.

Lately, I’ve heard a lot of talk about peptides: what they are, what they do, and why they matter. If you follow wellness influencers or talk with friends who lift, you’ve likely heard about injecting peptides for faster fat loss, better recovery, or antiaging. You might wonder if they’re a smart add-on to your training or just an expensive distraction.

Peptides are short chains of amino acids —tiny pieces of protein—that your body uses as natural messengers to regulate hormones, metabolism, immune function, and tissue repair. In fact, common prescription medications like insulin and certain GLP-1 drugs for weight management are peptide-based. It’s a real scientific category, not just a wellness buzzword.

The confusion comes from how they are promoted. On one hand, there are wellstudied, approved medical peptide drugs used under a doctor’s care. On the other hand, "research" or gray-market peptides are marketed online for muscle gain and anti-aging, which often come without rigorous evidence or regulation.
Before trying peptides: it is essential to consult a healthcare provider, clarify your goals, and treat online claims as marketing. Always build a foundation of nutrition, training, and sleep first. Our team can help frame questions for your doctor let us know what you ' re curious about!
ALWAYS BUILD A FOUNDATION OF NUTRITION, TRAINING, AND SLEEP FIRST.
For now, stay focused on strategies that actually move the needle such as strength training, nutrition, adequate sleep, and stress management.
Enjoy July!

Our recent Sound Bath at the Fortuna HSAlign Studio was a massive success a full house in a truly beautiful, serene space! If you have never experienced a sound bath, it is a passive healing process that uses frequency and vibration to bring the body back into alignment.
Led by the incredible Jen Madrone, who has a special gift for helping everyone settle in with ease, participants are taken on a transformative emotional journey. From the deep, grounding vibrations of gongs to the soul-touching singing bowls and soft chimes, the intensity shifts to help you release internal tension. While this processing can sometimes create waves of emotion, it is a natural part of the healing path that leaves you feeling profoundly relaxed and rested.

NEXT SESSION: Friday, July 31st from 7-9PM at HealthSPORT Eureka
We rotate these sessions monthly to different locations so everyone can participate. If you missed our last one, we invite you to join us for our next session.
We hope to see you there to experience this restorative practice firsthand!

I have been a member of HealthSPORT for too many years to count. I joined years ago taking advantage of the pool. Being in the water was the place I went to get away and turn off my thoughts. Pilates, on the reformer, is now my current escape.
Pilates is something that I knew intuitively was what my body and mind needed. In the past when I considered taking classes in a traditional studio, the cost of class scared me off. I was so relieved when I realized that I could find room in the budget for reformer classes here at HealthSPORT.

Five and a half years ago following abdominal hernia surgery, Pilates Reformer became my post-op rehabilitation. What started out as taking class 2-3 days a week has grown into a 6-day a week practice, (what some might call an obsession).
Pilates Reformer through HealthSPORT has cultivated more than a balance of healthy body and mind. I also have gained friendships.

I had knee replacement surgery on a Monday in May. I was in class the Saturday before surgery, and back at it 3 weeks post-op. I started with two classes the first couple of weeks back. I’m now up to 3 classes a week. And as the healing progresses I will add more, looking forward to getting back to 6 classes a week.
In the meantime, HealthSPORT is part of my physical therapy. I am making use of the recumbent bike and weight machines. The convenience of location and hours combined with the support from staff makes HealthSPORT an asset to the community.
