Begin the New Year with a Healthier Mind
Russell Hemmings True wellbeing starts not with resolutions, but with quiet choices that bring peace to the mind and meaning to each day. Dubai-based cognitive-behavioral hypnotherapist Russell Hemmings offers some tips. Every January, people make plans to change their bodies to eat better, exercise more, lose weight. But what if, this year, you focused on changing your mind instead? The truth is, mental wellbeing doesn’t come from grand resolutions. It grows from the small, consistent choices that calm the nervous system, quiet the noise, and restore a sense of meaning to everyday life. Here are five simple ways to start the year feeling grounded and mentally strong.
Don’t chase perfect aim for progress. Most resolutions fail because they demand too much, too soon. Real, lasting change happens when you start small and stay consistent. If you want to exercise more, begin with ten minutes a day. If you want to meditate, start with just a few breaths. The goal isn’t perfection - it’s gentle, steady progress.
Protect your quiet moments. Modern life rewards constant motion, yet the mind heals in
stillness. Give yourself permission to slow down. A few minutes of deep breathing before work, a quiet walk at lunchtime, or a phone-free evening once a week can make a profound difference. Calm isn’t something you find; it’s something you create.
Reconnect with real people. We’re more connected than ever but often lonelier than we admit. True human connection like talking, listening, sharing - regulates the mind and body far more effectively than any app. Make time for genuine conversations with those who lift your spirit and remind you of what really matters.
Set emotional boundaries Not every problem is yours to fix. Learn to notice when you’re overextending yourself and give yourself permission to say no. Protecting your emotional energy isn’t selfish - it’s essential.
Boundaries create space for peace, balance, and deeper relationships.
Keep gratitude in focus The human mind naturally leans toward what’s wrong. Gratitude helps rebalance that perspective. Whether it’s a kind gesture, a calm morning, or the simple realization that you’ve made it through another year acknowledging the good, rewires your brain for optimism and resilience.
The new year doesn’t need to be a revolution. It can be a gentle reset - a reminder that wellbeing isn’t about doing more but about doing what truly matters with calm intention. So, before you write that long list of resolutions, pause. Ask yourself one question: What would make my mind feel lighter this year? That’s the real starting point for lasting change. Small Moves, Big Gains
Muhammad Jaseem Fitness expert, exercise professional and body sculptor Dubai-based, Muhammad Jaseem suggests how everyday choices can transform your physical fitness regime in the new year. Jaseem believes that fitness and workout should not be a chore but something that you integrate into your daily life. He shares a few small but powerful pointers that can really make a difference to your fitness. He isn’t talking about grueling gym sessions or rigid diets. His approach is refreshingly simple: add movement to your daily routine in smart, sustainable ways.
Take the stairs, not the escalator “This one’s easy,” Jaseem says with a laugh. “Choose stairs instead of the escalator.” He admits most of us instinctively head for the escalator because we’re too lazy to walk. “But think about it, each time you take the stairs, you’re giving your body a mini workout. It’s a trick, really. Just do it twice a week to begin with. You’ll feel the difference.” Climbing stairs, he explains, strengthens your lower body, improves stamina, and burns calories - all without needing a gym membership.
Park farther, walk more “Here’s another trick and I really like this one,” he says. “Don’t park

your car right next to your office or building. Instead, park a little farther away.” That short walk from your car to your office can make a surprising difference. “It might be just two minutes, five minutes, or even eight but it gets your body moving,” he says. “You’re not wasting time; you’re investing in your health.” Walking, he points out, improves circulation, relieves stress, and boosts focus before you even start work.
Don’t sit too long — move every 30 minutes If you spend your day glued to a chair, Jaseem has a clear message: move. “Sitting for long hours pushes your body in a bad way,” he says. “So, every 25 to 35 minutes, get up. Take a quick walk, grab a glass of water, stretch your neck, roll your shoulders, move your ankles… anything that gets your joints active.” These microbreaks not only help your posture but also refresh your mind, making you more productive throughout the day.
Mix up your workouts Jaseem believes in balance. “Some people do only weight training,
others stick to cardio or aerobics,” he says. “But the best approach? Combine everything.”
He suggests mixing strength training, cardio, bodyweight exercises, and even light aerobics. “When you combine them, you build stamina, strength, and endurance together, and that’s what fitness eally means.”
Turn breaks into mini workouts Most of us use our lunch breaks to scroll through Instagram or check messages. You need to rethink that. “If you’ve got an hour for lunch, use part of it to walk,” he suggests. “Walk for 5 - 10 minutes before or after eating. It helps digestion and adds to your daily step count.” He also recommends using a step counter app to track your progress. “Set a target — maybe 10,000 steps a day. Even if you don’t hit it right away, keep moving towards it.”
How to keep in great fiscal health!
Pawan Kumar Chaudhary Earning a five-figure salary is not enough, how you structure your spending and manage to eke out sensible savings, matters a lot. The art of building wealth is not just plain earning but also in keeping it. UAE-based finance and investment specialist Pawan Kumar Chaudhary offers tips on how you can remain financially robust in the new year.
Budgets are not just for big-ticket spending Budgets work well with personal or home finance. It is important to keep track of your income and spending and have good financial discipline. Traditionally, amongst the more popular budget methods is the 50/30/20 rule (50% to be spent on needs, 30% on wants, 20% savings). Stick to what suits your pocket and style, but budget you must. Once you can track everything and keep it in plain sight it might become easier for you to build up on robust fiscal health.
Never let your financial priorities out of sight This includes the mandatory spending that you cannot do without each month as well as the debts you need to clear. Allocate sums for that first before planning any excess spending. So, at the beginning of the month, set aside a mandatory spending fund for house rent, your car mortgage, kid’s school fees, groceries, medicines, and fuel expenses. Set aside a small
amount towards clearing off your other debts – this could be a small loan from a family member, or friend, extra borrowing on your credit card… make it a point to pay it off in instalments and do not let a mountain of debt pile up and overwhelm you.
Create an emergency fund Think of this as filling a pot with water by adding drops of it every month. So, create an emergency fund where you might just set aside a small amount per month. At the end of the year, this will amount to something that you can place in a fixed deposit scheme in the bank. Year on year, keep adding the amount to this fund regularly. Let this fund be sacrosanct, meaning do not touch it unless it is a real emergency such as a sudden ill-health episode, house repair, or sudden travel overseas. Have a fair idea of what an emergency means to you. Typically, emergency funds ought to cover about 6-9 months of essential household expenses.
Investment and wealth build-up Establish financial objectives covering a timeframe. This could be building up a corpus for the children’s higher education over a 10–15-year time frame, your retirement planning and so on. Start with a systematic investment plan in line with your objectives and risk tolerance, such as investments in mutual funds and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). Supplement this with top-ups and lump sum investments wherever possible. This will give you added gains from the power of compounding over a long-term. Develop an assetallocation framework, preferably with
a financial consultant, diversifying the investments in fields such as fixed income assets, real estate, cash deposits, gold-silver investments. The actual returns are linked to proper asset allocation in addition to specific investments.
Try and control your spending Impulse is good thing to test your reflexes but not always so, especially when you recklessly splurge on an expensive dress, piece of jewelry, eating out, partying beyond your means or going on fancy holidays. It is always better to be conservative about your spending and not get carried away by the need to keep up with the Joneses. Find small ways to save daily, such as using carpool, public transport for travelling to work (you will be surprised by the money you save in fuel, road tolls, parking expenses, apart from the regular wear and tear of your car). Have coffee oncein-a-while at a café; learning to make coffee like a professional barista at home and sipping it on your veranda or patio will save you the regular expense of a restaurant.

Nutrition Resolutions that will Truly Matter in 2026
Soumya Mishra The New Year often arrives with ambitious health resolutions — most of which fade by February because they are either unrealistic or not rooted in physiology. Good nutrition is not about perfection; it’s about consistency of fundamentals. If you want better energy, healthier weight, glowing skin, deeper sleep and a stronger immune system through 2026, Soumya Mishra, nutritionist and dietitian suggests starting with these science-backed dietary resolutions:
Prioritize Protein in Every Main Meal Most adults, especially women, unknowingly under-eat protein. As a result, they struggle with cravings, unstable energy and slow metabolism. Aim for a palm-sized portion of real food protein — eggs, poultry, fish, lentils, tofu, paneer or Greek yogurt — at all three main meals. Protein improves satiety, supports lean muscle mass and keeps blood sugar steady, which is key for hormonal balance in midlife.
Eat Fiber from Seasonal Plants, Daily Your gut microbiome thrives on plant diversity, not calorie restriction. Include 8–10 servings of colorful, seasonal fruits and vegetables each day to feed beneficial gut bacteria. A thriving microbiome influences mood, digestion, immunity and even
weight regulation. Think: warm vegetable soups, leafy greens, root vegetables and fresh herbs — nature’s pharmacy on a plate.
Choose Real Vitamin C, not Just Tablets Vitamin C is far more than “immunity support.” In its natural form, it comes packaged with polyphenols and enzymes that enhance absorption and cellular repair. Gooseberry, citrus fruits, berries, guava and moringa are powerful whole-food sources that strengthen the skin barrier, reduce inflammation and improve collagen synthesis.
Don’t Miss Omega-3 Fats — Especially in Midlife For those in their 40s and 50s, Omega-3s are a quiet but powerful game-changer. They reduce silent inflammation, support brain and heart health, balance mood, and improve joint mobility. Include fatty fish (salmon, sardine, mackerel), chia, flax or walnuts regularly. If your diet is limited, a high-quality algae or fish-oil supplement can help.
Hydrate with Purpose Hydration isn’t only about drinking more water; it’s about absorbing it well. Add electrolyte-rich foods like coconut water, soaked chia, lemon water or a pinch of sea salt if you sweat heavily or live in warm climates. Proper hydration improves digestion, cognitive clarity and skin health.

The Power of Giving Back
As we are preparing to welcome another year of hope and possibility, many of us will be making resolutions — to eat better, travel more, or finally get fit. But what if, this time, we went beyond self-improvement and aimed for something greater community improvement? Volunteering — giving your time, energy, and skills for the benefit of others — is one of the most meaningful resolutions you can make. It’s a commitment that not only transforms lives but also enriches your own. And in a country like the UAE, where compassion and generosity are deeply woven into the national fabric, volunteering becomes a natural extension of who we are. When you volunteer, you don’t just offer help; you set in motion a ripple of goodness that touches everyone around you. From cleaning a beach to mentoring a student, every act of giving back creates a chain reaction of positivity.
The UAE has long encouraged this spirit. The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the Nation, believed that “the real wealth of the country is its people.” His legacy continues today through national initiatives that promote community engagement and sustainable development. Volunteering is not only a way to honor that vision but also to feel more deeply connected to the place we call home. Studies have shown that people who volunteer regularly experience lower stress, better emotional well-being, and even improved physical health. It gives a sense of purpose and
fulfillment that no fitness tracker or financial goal can match. Volunteering also helps you build empathy, leadership skills, and resilience. You gain new perspectives, meet people from diverse backgrounds, and rediscover the joy of human connection — something that can easily get lost in our screenfilled lives.
Ways to Get Involved in the UAE The UAE offers countless opportunities to volunteer and contribute legally and meaningfully within the framework of national regulations. Here are some simple and inspiring ways to start: Join the UAE Volunteer Platform: Register on the official UAE Volunteer Platform (volunteers. ae), an initiative by the Emirates Foundation, to find causes that match your interests — from community development and education to environmental conservation. Support sustainability efforts: Participate in tree-planting events,
desert clean-ups, or recycling drives. Groups like Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) and Clean UAE run regular public campaigns that align with the country’s Year of Sustainability theme.
Volunteer at Animal Action UAE or Stray Dogs Center. Mentor, teach, or share skills: If you have expertise in art, languages, technology, or business, consider mentoring students or training youth through licensed community centers or registered online platforms. Engage in humanitarian outreach: Join Dubai Cares’ Volunteer Emirates initiatives that support education and community wellbeing across the UAE. When you volunteer, you lead by quiet example. You inspire others — your friends, family, children — to see that compassion is contagious. Every small act of kindness adds up to something bigger: a community that looks out for one another. H

Things you must do to
pre-empt non-communicable diseases (NCDs)
Hitesh Motwani, Deputy CEO Dubai-based InsuranceMarket.ae, provides you handy tips to pre-empt and prevent serious fallouts of NCDS and reduce the overall burden of disease with preventive check-ups powered by sensible health insurance packages
Cancer, hypertension, diabetes, obesity are on the rise. As per the World Health Organization (WHO), these noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) accounted for 18 million deaths worldwide in 2021 and continue to pose a serious threat to health of the people. The average age for onset of these diseases is getting lower and now younger people within their forties are dealing with these health threats. Hitesh Motwani provides guidelines on how to manage these chronic diseases with the right nutrition and active lifestyle choices that can not only be a lifesaver but also lower one’s insurance bills.

respiratory diseases, and diabetes. These are fast becoming the leading cause of death and disability worldwide. What is worrisome is that something that is preventable with early screening and important changes to food habits and physical fitness, should impact people and result in high fatalities. Most comprehensive health insurance plans available today already cover treatment and management for NCDs, provided the condition is declared and disclosed at the Hitesh Motwani time of application. For Deputy CEO - InsuranceMarket.ae those who already have a pre-existing condition, insurers typically What are NCDS? How include coverage after a short can an individual choose waiting period.
the right insurance cover? Non-Communicable Diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer are among the leading health concerns globally and in the UAE. These are conditions not caused by any acute infection such as cardiovascular diseases (heart disease), cancers, chronic
It is important for individuals to review policy terms, understand what is covered, and ensure their plan includes chronic condition management, medication coverage, and regular consultations. The key is transparency and early enrollment before conditions worsen or complications arise.
How does that impact the cost or premium?
Including NCD coverage does have an impact on premium pricing because these conditions involve ongoing care, medication, and monitoring. The increase depends on several factors such as the individual’s age, the severity or stability of their condition, and their overall health profile. That said, the UAE insurance market has matured significantly. Many insurers now reward proactive health management and offer wellness programs, lifestyle incentives, and discounts for regular health check-ups. So, even though costs can be higher for higher-risk profiles, there are more opportunities than ever to manage premiums through prevention and healthy habits.
Is the UAE health insurance geared to handle the NCD challenge? Yes, the UAE’s health insurance ecosystem is well-positioned to manage the rising prevalence of NCDs. Insurers today are partnering more closely with healthcare providers to support early detection, continuous care, and long-term management programs. We have seen positive developments such as telemedicine integration, wellness-focused benefits, and structured chronic disease management programs. These are helping shift the approach from treating illness to maintaining wellness. While there is always room for improvement, the
What is your advice to individuals to reduce the burden of expense on NCDs?
First and foremost, prevention is always more affordable than treatment. Regular screenings, a balanced diet, exercise, and avoiding smoking or sedentary habits go a long way in reducing the risk of developing chronic conditions. Secondly, individuals should choose health insurance plans that provide comprehensive chronic disease coverage and include access to annual health checks, medication benefits, and wellness programs. It is equally important to consider complementary products such as critical illness insurance, which provides a lump-sum benefit on diagnosis of serious illnesses like cancer, heart disease, or stroke. This type of cover can help offset the outof-pocket expenses that

health insurance alone might not fully address.
There are also add-on and top-up options available that can enhance coverage for chronic conditions or offer higher benefit limits. The earlier people start with health insurance and critical illness protection, the more affordable and accessible these plans tend to be. Ultimately, prevention, early diagnosis, and the right insurance mix together form the best strategy to manage both health and financial well-being. H

All about digitizing patient information Nabidh, Dubai Health Authority’s official Health Information Exchange (HIE) platform has not only streamlined patient information but facilitated a secure and real-time electronic exchange of patient medical records between public and private sector, empowering both patient and doctors in taking informed and safe decisions.
Nov/Dec 2025
16
Dr Mohammed Al Redha,
Director of Health Informatics and Smart Health Department at DHA provides a comprehensive view of Nabidh in conversation with HEALTH
Health Magazine: Can you tell us about the NABIDH initiative and how it has transformed patient data management in Dubai? Dr Mohammed Al Redha: The NABIDH platform is one of the Dubai Health Authority’s (DHA) flagship digital initiatives. It connects over 1,980 healthcare facilities and unifies more than 10.67 million patient records under a single, secure electronic medical record (EMR) system. By providing a centralised hub for patient data, NABIDH has streamlined healthcare delivery and enhanced the overall efficiency of our healthcare system. Furthermore, NABIDH is integrated with Riayati, the National Unified Medical Record (NUMR), ensuring seamless connectivity and interoperability at both the emirate and national levels.
What milestones has NABIDH achieved so far? NABIDH has made incredible progress. Currently, 88% of healthcare professionals in Dubai are actively connected to the platform. We’ve integrated a significant
number of healthcare facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic centres, into this unified system. NABIDH’s integration with the UAE’s Riayati initiative is a vital step in enhancing the quality of medical services and ensuring continuity of care nationwide. This achievement reflects the UAE’s commitment to a sustainable and efficient healthcare system that delivers exceptional services to patients while advancing the nation’s digital transformation strategy.
How does NABIDH ensure seamless communication between healthcare providers? NABIDH serves as a secure, interconnected platform that facilitates the exchange of medical information between public and private healthcare facilities. It provides healthcare providers with real-time access to a patient’s unified medical record, ensuring continuity of care and better coordination across the healthcare ecosystem. This not only enhances communication between providers but also helps minimise errors and duplication, leading to more informed decision-making and improved patient outcomes.
Could you elaborate on the role of NABIDH in preventive care and disease management? NABIDH empowers healthcare professionals with a comprehensive view of a patient’s medical history, enabling them to detect patterns, identify risk factors, and implement preventive measures. By unifying patient records, the platform allows for better tracking of chronic conditions, improves early diagnosis, and ensures timely interventions. This is particularly valuable in managing diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular conditions, where proactive care can significantly improve outcomes.
What impact does NABIDH have on healthcare professionals and their ability to deliver care? For healthcare professionals, NABIDH provides an invaluable tool to access accurate and up-todate patient information. It offers a complete timeline of a patient’s medical history, including test results, prescriptions, and treatment plans, enabling better diagnosis and treatment. By improving coordination among healthcare providers, NABIDH enhances the quality of care while also saving time for both clinicians and patients.
How does NABIDH ensure data privacy and security? Data privacy and security are at the core of NABIDH’s design. The platform complies with strict international standards and local regulations to safeguard patient data. It employs advanced encryption technologies and access controls to ensure that only authorised personnel can access sensitive information. Patient confidentiality is paramount, and we continue to adopt the latest technologies to maintain the integrity of our systems.
What are the future goals for NABIDH and DHA’s digital transformation journey? Our vision is to achieve 100% connectivity across all healthcare providers in Dubai, ensuring every professional can access the unified NABIDH system. We also aim to enhance its analytical capabilities, incorporating AI to support predictive healthcare and personalised medicine. These efforts are part of our broader strategy to position Dubai as a global leader in digital healthcare innovation. H

In the next few months, through a series of screenings that included MRIs, biopsies and investigations that covered a period of six months, Renuka received the devastating diagnosis. “I had invasive ductal carcinoma. My mother who had been diagnosed with it at 60 was a survivor. But here I was just 46 and receiving the diagnosis that said the cancer had impacted my lymph nodes as well,” she recalled in her conversation with HEALTH. For as long as she can remember, music has been the rhythm of Renuka and it was that same music — her lifelong companion — that became her anchor.

It’s been over a year since Renuka’s battle with stage three breast cancer began. It was January 2024, this Carnatic music teacher recalls vividly. It all started with intense pain in her breast which she first dismissed as a fall out of an

Through grueling rounds of chemotherapy and radiation and surgery she underwent, she battled fear and fatigue, music kept her soul alive. Teaching, listening, composing became her way of coping, healing, and reclaiming herself. “Music truly healed me,” she says quietly. “My classes, my work, and most
importantly, my family — they all gave me the strength to come back.” Today, Renuka stands tall as a cancer warrior, teacher, and inspiration — a woman who turned pain into purpose and melody into medicine.
“I have completed chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. It’s been quite a journey — first chemo, then radiation, and now I’m on regular follow-ups and medication. I go for periodic checkups, and I can proudly say I’ve crossed the most difficult phase. Staying positive has been my biggest strength. Having gone through such a tough time, I now feel I can face anything. I’m slowly regaining my strength and hope. “As I always say — this too shall pass.”
The Treatment “I underwent eight cycles of chemotherapy. Mine was a particularly aggressive form of breast cancer, and the chemo for it was one of the hardest. By the seventh cycle, I developed severe bone weakness and had to use a wheelchair. I couldn’t walk and often felt like giving up. But I told myself — I’ve already completed seven, I just need to finish one more. Somehow, I found the strength to go through the final session. Radiation, compared to chemo, was easier, though I did experience some burning under my arm from the 25 sessions. But I got through it.” “Technically, I can say I’m cancer-free, but doctors prefer to use the term ‘no evidence of disease.’ Since my cancer was grade three and had spread to my lymph nodes, recurrence is still possible. That’s why I continue with medication. But I try to live a healthy life, stay positive, and keep myself active.
“My biggest motivation has been my work — my music and my students. During chemotherapy, I would be bedridden for about 10 days after each session. But as soon as I regained some energy, I’d resume my classes. I managed my teaching schedule around the treatment — taking classes when I felt better and resting when I needed to. My students and their parents were incredibly understanding and supportive. Music truly healed me. My classes, my work, and most importantly, my family — they all gave me the strength to come back. My family kept encouraging me to continue doing what I love. That kept me going.” “Of course, in the beginning, I was terrified. When I was first diagnosed with grade three, stage three cancer, I didn’t know how long I had. My son had just started college, and my daughter was in her board exams. All I wanted was to live another 10 or 15 years to see them grow.
always tell women: early detection saves lives. Don’t ignore even a small pain or lump. My first symptom was just a mild breast pain, which I dismissed as nothing serious. I even felt shy to talk about it and that cost me precious time. Today, I am not shy anymore. I want to share my story and help others.” “From being a simple, conservative music teacher, I’ve become bolder, and a more courageous woman. Cancer changed me — it made me fearless. Recently on November 8, 2025, Renuka’s dream project - a large choir with 300 participants, performed at Indian High School, Dubai successfully, a feat that won her accolades and appreciation from all. “Music gives me confidence, satisfaction, and purpose — it makes me forget the pain and focus on the joy of living.
But then I thought — my mother survived cancer too. She was diagnosed at 65; I got it at 45. So what? I decided not to live in fear. Instead, I learned to face it. That shift in mindset helped me build resilience. We women face so many challenges in life not just cancer. I told myself, I can overcome this too. And I did.”
Spreading Awareness “Now, I also try to spread awareness. I was busy with work, my kids, and family, and neglected regular checkups or mammograms. That’s why I

For that, I’m deeply grateful. But I thank God every day and pray for a long, healthy life. And I remind every woman I meetdo not ignore the signs. Go for regular checkups. Early detection can save your life.”
Early detection is the key to survival This is the constant message being disseminated to every woman globally. Screen, screen and screen. Start the screening from the age of 40, do a self-examination in the shower, go for detailed investigation in case you suspect something, and if there is any genetic history in the family, go for more diverse investigation every year.
As per Prof Dr Humaid Al Shamsi, Founder and Director of the Medical Oncology Service at Burjeel Medical City, breast cancer has become the most commonly diagnosed cancer type in the world. His research published in JCO Global Oncology journal in January 2023, states that it is estimated that there were 2.26 million new cases of Breast Cancer and almost 685,000 deaths from it, worldwide in 2020.
Breast Cancer in the UAE If diagnosed in stage 0 the chances of survival are nearly 98 per cent for women. Dr Shamsi further reiterated that UAE also reflected the same Nov/Dec 2025

diagnosis as the world. “In the UAE, BC comprises around a third of all female cancers and remains the number one cause of cancer -related mortality. It tends to present earlier in the UAE population. The median age is 48 years and nearly 21.5 per cent of the women diagnosed with breast cancer fall in the age group of 30-40 years,” said Dr Shamsi.
What women should do? If you have a genetic history of cancers and specifically breast cancer, oncologists advise screening to begin by 30 years of age, otherwise, opt for annual screening after the age of 40. Women need to be super alert, and well informed and are advised to confer with their gynecologist for a six-monthly check-up. They must conduct selfbreast examination regularly and take action the moment they
Different Types of Breast Cancers According to the global awareness organization breastcancer.org, breast cancer usually begins either in the cells of the lobules, which are milkproducing glands or in the ducts, the passages that drain milk from the lobules to the nipple. There are invasive and noninvasive varieties.
Invasive breast cancer When breast cancer is called invasive (or infiltrating), it means it has spread into the surrounding breast tissue. The two most common types of invasive breast cancer are defined by where in the breast they begin to grow: Invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC): This is invasive breast cancer that starts in the milk ducts, the tubes that carry milk from the lobules to the nipple. It is the most common type of breast
cancer; about 80% of all breast cancers are invasive ductal carcinomas. Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC): This is invasive breast cancer that starts in the lobules, the glands in the breast that produce milk. It is the second most common type of breast cancer; about 10% of all invasive breast cancers are invasive lobular carcinomas. Some types of invasive breast cancer have features that affect how they develop and how they are treated: Triple-negative breast cancer is an aggressive type of invasive breast cancer that tests negative for estrogen
receptors and progesterone receptors and doesn’t have extra HER2 proteins. About 12% of all invasive breast cancers are triple-negative. Triple-positive breast cancer tests positive for estrogen receptors and progesterone receptors and has too many HER2 proteins. About 10% of all breast cancers are triple-positive. Inflammatory breast cancer is a rare and aggressive type of invasive breast cancer. About 1% of all breast cancers in the United States are inflammatory breast cancer. Micrometastases are tiny groups of breast cancer cells that have traveled from the breast to some other area of the body, particularly to the lymph nodes under the arm. Doctors look for micrometastases in the lymph nodes in the breast area because research shows micrometastases mean the breast cancer has a higher risk of spreading and may need different treatments than breast cancer without micrometastases. Metastatic breast cancer, also called stage IV breast cancer, is invasive breast cancer that has spread (metastasized) to parts of the body away from the breast, such as the bones, liver, lungs, or brain. Breast cancer can come back in another part of the body months or years after the original treatment (called a metastatic recurrence), but some people are initially diagnosed with metastatic disease (called de novo metastatic breast cancer). Recurrent breast cancer is also an invasive category breast cancer reappears months or years after treatment. Breast cancer can recur in the same breast (local recurrence), nearby lymph nodes in the armpit or collarbone (regional recurrence), or in another part of the body, (metastatic or distant recurrence).
Male breast cancer is rare, but it does happen. Fewer than 1% of all breast cancers are diagnosed in men. Most male breast cancers are invasive ductal carcinomas.
Obliterating fear of breast cancer with new medicine
Paget disease of the breast is a rare form of breast cancer where cancer cells collect in or around the nipple. Breast angiosarcoma is a rare type of cancer that starts in the cells lining the blood or lymph vessels of the breast. There are also five main molecular subtypes of invasive breast cancer based on the genes in the cancer tumor. The molecular subtype of a breast cancer can affect how the cancer is treated.
Non-invasive breast cancer When breast cancer is called noninvasive (or in situ) it means it has not spread beyond the breast tissue where it started. Non-invasive breast cancers are also called precancers. There are two main types of non-invasive breast cancer: Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS), is an early-stage cancer where the malignant cells are confined to the milk ducts and have not spread to surrounding breast tissue. It is often found during a screening mammogram and may not cause symptoms. While not lifethreatening on its own. Oncologists advise treatment so that it does not turn invasive. Lobular Carcinoma In Situ (LCIS): This involves abnormal cells growing in the lobules, or milkproducing glands. It is technically not considered cancer but a noncancerous change that indicates an increased risk for developing invasive breast cancer later on.It tends to remain in the lobules and does not spread.
Dr Mohannad Diab, the director of Oncology services at Mediclinic, Abu Dhabi, who works in the field of latest cancer treatments such as Immunotherapy, Targeted therapies and Chemotherapy elaborated, at our new centre in Mediclinic, thousands of patients, especially those diagnosed with breast cancer are treated with latest therapies and technology. The message we have for our patients is that cancer today is treatable so long as patients are vigilant and aware and undertake regular check-ups. At our centre we have added new therapies and medicines to our arsenal in treating cancer patients. We also have new radiotherapy medicines.”
He further continued, “I recently had a young breast cancer patient who was diagnosed at the same time when she discovered she was pregnant. We were successfully able to treat her, cure her and assist her in to deliver her baby safely. My message to women is there is no need to fear breast cancer. Once diagnosed in time, it can be treated.” Breast cancer among women continues to be the most aggressive modern disease and all research into the occurrence, frequency, types as well as new age therapies, medicines and so on is ongoing work that will always be in progress until we find the reason for its rise, proliferation and possible cure. an expert in cosmetic gynecology, in conversation with Health explained, “The name might be misleading, but cosmetic gynecology procedures are vital to restore the physical, emotional and mental health of women who have undergone childbirth or are experiencing hormonal complications at perimenopause or menopause. “Today, we have several innovations such as laser and radiofrequency technologies that make it possible to address the reproductive health of women with non-invasive or minimally invasive procedures that have a minimal downtime and discomfort. These technologies stimulate collagen production, enhance tissue elasticity, and improve overall genital function, offering women effective alternatives to traditional surgical methods. So these might look cosmetic but play a vital role in restoring a woman’s confidence and happiness and supporting her in resuming her work life as well.”
Top five cosmetic gynecology procedures that most women in their early forties opt for as recommended by Dr Rini. Labiaplasty What: A surgical procedure to reshape the labia (inner or outer vaginal lips) for aesthetic or functional improvement. Why: It is carried out to correct issues like excess tissue that causes irritation or discomfort, or for cosmetic reasons to improve appearance. Recommendation: “I think every woman undergoing this discomfort must opt for this surgery which is very brief yet goes a long way in helping a woman not just reclaim her physical appearance but also put an end to embarrassment and pain.
Vaginal Rejuvenation What: A broad term for procedures that restore the structure and tone of the vaginal canal or improve the appearance of the intimate area.
Methods include: PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) Injections: Uses the patient’s own blood to stimulate tissue regeneration. Energy-Based Devices: Lasers and radiofrequency (RF) treatments can tighten the vagina and address symptoms like dryness or pain during intercourse (dyspareunia). Intimate Area Fillers: Injections to add volume or augment the area. Why: Restoration of any structure as the procedure suggests not only rejuvenates an organ but can help a woman reclaim her femininity and happiness. Recommendation: “This procedure which is non-invasive can tremendously help rejuvenate any woman physically and restore her sexuality”
Clitoral Hood Reduction What it is: A surgical procedure to reduce excess skin around the clitoris. Why: To improve the aesthetics and potentially enhance sensitivity by making the clitoris more visible. Recommendation: “For any woman who is desensitized and lost the joy, this can be godsent”.
Vaginoplasty What: A surgical procedure that tightens the vaginal canal by bringing muscles together and removing extra skin.
Recommendation: “Most women suffer this silently post delivery and menopause. I would recommend undergoing this surgery sooner rather than later and it will not only resolve several gynecological problems, but also restore her confidence, happiness and selfesteem.
Perineoplasty What: A surgical procedure to reshape and strengthen the perineum (the area between the vagina and the anus). Why: It can effectively correct sexual dysfunctions in women Recommendation: “I would say in natural childbirth, many a times, the pelvic floor gets damaged, and many women suffer the side effects silently. This surgery can cure urine incontinence and save a young woman that embarrassment that she faces owing to her weak muscles. There are many other benefits, but this one advantage alone makes this surgery worth it for every woman.”
Insurance coverage Can your health insurance cover these procedures. According to Dr Rini and other gynecologists, health insurance coverage is possible for these procedures, especially if it is therapeutic, for urinary symptoms and other health issues that accrue from it. Patients can seek pre-approval from their insurances, furnishing the appropriate clinical reports that can give them a clearer picture. H
Why: It helps restore the structure and tone of the vaginal canal, which can be affected by childbirth or aging

Menopause Hormone Therapy
When Life Hits Pause, You Press Play Again Contrary to popular belief, Hormone Replacement Therapy is not fraught with the risks that have been conventionally associated with it. Give your life a second chance — MHT is a boon, not a bane, says specialist Gynecologist Dr Prgati Grover.
Dr Prgati Grover Specialist Gynecologist with Prime Healthcare Group, Dubai When 48-year-old Ramona S., a former beauty queen and fitness enthusiast, began experiencing restless nights, hot flushes, mood swings, and vaginal dryness, she knew menopause had arrived. “I’ve always believed femininity isn’t just skin deep,” she shares. “But when my energy dipped and sleep disappeared, I knew it was time to take charge.” That’s when Ramona met Dr Prgati Grover, Specialist Gynecologist with Prime Healthcare Group, Dubai — a leading voice in the field of Menopause Hormone Therapy (MHT).
Understanding Menopause Hormone Therapy “As women transition through menopause, estrogen and progesterone levels naturally fall,” explains Dr Prgati Grover. “This

hormonal drop is what causes the familiar symptoms — from hot flushes and insomnia to bone loss and vaginal dryness.” For decades, Hormone Therapy was viewed with caution. “But that perception has changed,” says Dr Prgati. “Modern, regulated Menopause Hormone Therapy is safe, effective, and life-enhancing when used appropriately and under medical supervision. The key is personalization — there’s no onesize-fits-all approach.” According to the North American Menopause Society (NAMS 2023) and NICE 2023, MHT offers the most effective relief for vasomotor symptoms and helps preserve bone and cardiovascular health when started before age 60 or within 10 years of menopause.
The Transformative Benefits Ramona began MHT with a carefully tailored plan that combined lifestyle changes and hormone support. Within weeks, she noticed improved sleep, emotional stability, and renewed physical vitality. “Her case reflects what research now shows,” says Dr Prgati Grover. “When started early, MHT can • Relieve hot flushes and night sweat • Improve sleep quality and mood • Maintain vaginal health and restore intimacy • Strengthening bones and preventing osteoporosis • Possibly reduce cardiovascular risk and overall mortality when begun in the optimal window. However, Dr Prgati cautions, “MHT should not be initiated solely for dementia prevention. The focus is on quality of life, not longevity promises.”
Forms of Therapy — Modern and Flexible MHT can be delivered in several
ways — oral tablets, skin patches or gels, vaginal creams, or rings. Women who have had a hysterectomy may take estrogen alone, while those with an intact uterus need combined estrogen and progesterone to protect the uterine lining.
Dr Prgati adds, “We often prefer transdermal estrogen and micronized progesterone, as they carry the lowest risk for blood clots and cardiovascular events. Regular followup every 6–12 months keeps the therapy safe and customized.”
Busting Myths Around Hormone Therapy Dr Prgati addresses the most common misconceptions:
Myth 1 HRT always causes breast cancer. Fact - Large studies show that the small risk is often overestimated. Estrogen-only therapy doesn’t increase the risk and may even lower it in some women.
Myth 2 All HRT types carry the same risk. Fact - Combined estrogenprogestogen therapy carries a slightly higher risk than estrogen-only. The added risk is modest — it is similar to drinking a glass of wine daily — and returns to baseline after stopping therapy.
Myth 3 HRT makes many cancers more aggressive. Fact - Cancers in women on HRT
are often detected earlier due to regular screening, with no evidence of increased aggressiveness.
Myth 4 Family history of breast cancer rules out HRT. Fact - Family history alone is not a contraindication. With individualized risk assessment, many women can safely use MHT.
Myth 5 Bioidentical hormones are safer. Fact - Only regulated, body-identical hormones (estradiol and micronized progesterone approved by authorities) are proven safe. Custom-compounded “bioidentical” mixes lack quality control and are not recommended.
The New Narrative: Health, Confidence, and Control Today, Ramona feels stronger and more centered than ever. “It’s like I’ve reclaimed myself,” she smiles. “MHT helped me get my rhythm, energy, and confidence back.” Dr Prgati concludes, “Menopause is not an end — it’s an evolution. With informed guidance, women can enter this phase healthier, happier, and hormonally balanced.”
A Balanced Perspective The latest global consensus is clear. For healthy women under 60 or within 10 years of menopause onset, the benefits of MHT outweigh the risks.” — NAMS 2023 Position Statement When prescribed thoughtfully, monitored regularly, and paired with good lifestyle choices, Menopause Hormone Therapy truly becomes a boon — not a bane. Why Women Need to Take
Heart Health Seriously For decades, heart disease has worn the face of a man. The image of someone clutching his chest in pain has become a familiar shorthand for a heart attack. Yet heart disease is just as much a woman’s concern if not more. It is, in fact, the number one cause of death among women worldwide, surpassing even cancer. Studies find cardiovascular disease is responsible for about 30% of deaths in women each year over twice as many as those caused by all forms of cancer combined.
Dr. Brajesh Mittal, Senior consultant Interventional Cardiologist and Deputy Medical Director of Medcare Hospital, Dubai, has seen this reality up close. “Heart disease is the number one cause of death in women worldwide,” he underscores. “The tragedy is that it’s also one of the most preventable.” The most common heart disease among women is coronary artery disease (CAD) — a condition where cholesterol and fatty deposits build up in the arteries, restricting blood flow to the heart. But unlike men, who often experience the classic, dramatic symptoms of crushing chest pain, women’s signs tend to whisper rather than shout.
Why heart disease poses greater health risk to women? “Women often have subtler symptoms - fatigue, breathlessness, dizziness, or even a vague chest discomfort,” says Dr. Mittal. “It’s easy to dismiss these as stress, overwork, or just part of daily life.”
other risk factors like diabetes, high blood pressure, and cholesterol begin to take hold. “In my practice,” says Dr. Mittal, “I’ve seen that sedentary lifestyles, unhealthy eating habits, stress, and lack of awareness are major contributors.” The irony, he adds, is that many women are diligent about their family’s health but neglect their own. “They take their children and husbands for checkups, but rarely themselves. We need to change that mindset.”
Preventive Screening is the key So, when should women start taking preventive action? Dr. Mittal recommends that women begin preventive screening by their mid-30s; even earlier for those with diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, or a family history of early heart disease.
And that’s exactly what makes heart disease in women so dangerous. Because symptoms are easily overlooked, diagnosis often comes late, sometimes, tragically, too late.
“Screening doesn’t mean complicated tests,” he clarifies. “It starts with knowing your numbers - blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and body weight. These simple parameters can reveal a lot about your risk.”
According to global data, one in three women will develop some form of heart disease in her lifetime. The risk rises sharply after menopause, when protective estrogen levels drop, and

better and easier than cure.
Dr. Mittal’s Tips for Women Women need to be proactive in protecting their hearts and, by extension, their lives. Dr. Mittal shares his essential checklist for a healthy heart: Move every day. You don’t need to run marathons. A brisk 30-minute walk, dancing, yoga, or swimming can do wonders for your cardiovascular health. However, consult your doctor before making any changes to your health and lifestyle. Eat fresh. Prioritize fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Cut down on sugar, salt, and processed foods. Sleep well. Aim for seven to eight hours of quality sleep. Chronic sleep deprivation can raise blood pressure and affect metabolism. Manage stress. “Stress is a silent killer,” says Dr. Mittal. “Make time for yourself — meditate, read, connect with loved ones, or simply breathe correctly.” Quit smoking. Smoking dramatically increases the risk of heart attack and stroke — and the risk is even higher in women than men. Above all, he urges women to listen to their bodies. “If something feels off — don’t ignore it. Fatigue, breathlessness, or unexplained discomfort could be your heart’s way of asking for help.” H

AI Meets Omics
Transforming Fertility Preservation and Reproductive Longevity in BRCA Carriers Today, two forces -- omics technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) are converging to change that story, turning fertility preservation into a more predictive, personalized, and preventive science.
Dr. Nahla Kazim
Consultant Reproductive Medicine and Infertility Founder, CEO of Kazim's Fertility Barza.
For women carrying BRCA gene mutations, the struggle isn’t only about cancer risk—it’s also about time. BRCA mutations, particularly in (BRCA1), accelerate ovarian aging and reduce fertility years earlier than expected. With risk-reducing surgeries and chemotherapy often required before family building, many women face the loss of reproductive potential long before they’re ready.

The BRCA and Fertility Connection The BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes encode DNA repair proteins essential for protecting oocytes from agerelated damage. When these genes malfunction, ovarian cells accumulate genetic errors, leading to premature follicle loss, lower anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels, and reduced oocyte yield during fertility treatments. Meta-analyses show that BRCA1 carriers have a significantly diminished ovarian reserve, while BRCA2 carriers appear less affected. This means earlier reproductive decline and fewer available eggs for cryopreservation. For oncologists and fertility specialists, integrating early reproductive counseling into BRCA care is now essential.
The Omics: The Molecular Map of Ovarian Health Omics refers to technologies that decode biological systems across multiple layers --- genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. Together, they give clinicians a panoramic view of ovarian function and reproductive aging.
Genomics identifies the exact BRCA variant and associated risk of ovarian insufficiency, helping tailor preservation timing. Transcriptomics and proteomics reveal downstream stress and repair pathway changes in granulosa cell -- structurecritical supporters of oocyte health. Metabolomics, perhaps the most dynamic of all, maps small molecules such as amino acids and lipids within follicular fluid that directly correlate with oocyte competence and embryo quality. Recent follicular-fluid profiling studies have linked higher levels of glutamine, arginine, IGF-1, and antioxidants with high-quality oocytes, while disrupted lipid and energy metabolism predict poorer outcomes. These discoveries bring molecular precision to fertility preservation, steering clinicians from reactive intervention toward proactive prediction.
Omics Biomarkers Shaping Preservation Protocols Among the most influential omicsderived markers are AMH, antral follicle count (AFC), and BRCA genotyping, which collectively inform when and how to intervene. Emerging gene variants in FSH receptor, NR5A1, and FIGLA are also being studied to fine-tune ovarian stimulation regimens. Multi-omics panels can now integrate AMH profiles with transcriptomic and
Beyond embryology, AI-driven multi-omics integration is helping identify BRCA-related ovarian aging pathways and potential therapeutic targets, offering new possibilities for cryoprotection of ovarian tissue. The result is a shift from one-size-fitsall fertility preservation to precision medicine, where each BRCA carrier’s plan is data-modeled, risk-adjusted, and dynamically personalized.
metabolomic data to model “ovarian age” more accurately than chronological age alone.
These insights are changing fertility preservation counseling Younger BRCA carriers may elect earlier oocyte cryopreservation even before cancer onset. Cancer survivors can pursue individualized ovarian stimulation cycles with letrozole-based, estrogensparing protocols guided by omics and hormonal data. AI-assisted embryo screening can identify BRCA-free embryos during IVF using patterns extracted from timelapse imaging, genomic sequencing and genetic testing (PGT-M)
AI: Turning Data into Personalized Decisions If omics provide the data, AI provides direction. Machine learning models analyze massive datasets—combining genetics, hormone levels, imaging, and even lifestyle factors to predict ovarian performance with remarkable accuracy. Recent platforms now deploy AI algorithms to forecast oocyte yield before stimulation, anticipate the best drug protocol, and simulate outcomes across multiple cycles. In embryo selection, AI-enhanced image recognition systems rank embryos by developmental potential, reducing human bias and improve success rates.
Safety and Success: The Data Reassurance For many BRCA carriers and survivors, safety is the foremost concern—will hormonal stimulation or ART trigger recurrence? A global 2024–2025 study across BRCApositive women offered reassurance: recurrence rates were similar or lower in those conceiving with ART (12.1%) compared to natural conception (27.1%). Moreover, live birth rates exceeded 80% in both groups, and obstetric outcomes were also comparable. Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT-M) has further improved reproductive safety, ensuring carriers can avoid passing mutations while maintaining high pregnancy success rates. These findings underscore that modern ART—when guided by tailored omics and AI support is both oncologically safe and reproductively effective.
Patient-Centered Fertility Counseling Omics-guided fertility preservation isn’t only scientific—it’s deeply personal. Women should be counseled about: Reduced ovarian reserve risks in BRCA carriers Optimal timing for cryopreservation before cancer therapy PGT-M options to prevent mutation transmission to offsprings Realistic oocyte yield expectations, modeled using omics profiles Emotional readiness and genetic
implications for early screenings and family planning. In the UAE, fertility preservation for women carrying BRCA mutations is now officially recognized under the Thiqa insurance framework, which covers oocyte and embryo cryopreservation before oncologic or risk-reducing treatment, making advanced fertility protection more accessible. Such discussions are most valuable when delivered by multidisciplinary teams: reproductive specialists, oncologists, and genetic counselors— supported by AI-based decision tools for individualized recommendations.
Predictive Fertility Medicine towards Longevity The next decade will see fusion between AI, omics, and wearable biosensors, creating real-time fertility monitoring systems. Imagine a “Reproductive Aging Dashboard” where BRCA carriers can track ovarian health via digitized biomarkers, modeled continuously against global datasets. Multi-omic fertility passports and organoidbased testing may one day predict ovarian decline years in advance, redefining the very concept of fertility preservation. This convergence of disciplines heralds more than technological progress; it represents hope. For women born with BRCA mutations, science is finally learning not only to protect life from cancer but also to preserve the possibility of creating it. H

Men’s Health
Spotlight on the
Prostate Gland
With nearly 25 per cent of all men in the ages above 50 dealing with some niggling prostate condition it is time to move this walnut-sized gland firmly to the center of the conversation about men’s wellbeing. For decades, prostate health is often overshadowed by cultural reluctance to talk about the symptoms, sexual health, or worse. But with recent reports warning of a looming global prostate cancer crisis - annual diagnoses predicted to almost double, climbing from 1.4 million in 2020 to 2.9 million by 2040 – let’s be candid about it. As age advances the prostate problem, can impact over 50 per cent of men above the age of 60 and above and may progress to Prostate cancer if neglected. Despite advances, we see too many men being diagnosed with prostate cancer at a late stage. “One of the biggest challenges we face is underdiagnosis,” says Professor Dr Rabi Madi, professor of Urology and director of the Robotic surgery center at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. “Men tend to ignore early urinary symptoms or delay routine screening, and by the time they arrive, the disease may already be advanced.”

years. However, the latter variety is difficult to manage as its causes are unknown.” Medication remains the cornerstone of treatment for prostatitis.
Benign Prostate enlargement Professor Dr Rabi Madi professor of Urology and director of the Robotic surgery center at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. at the Thumbay University Hospital, Ajman elaborates, “The three most common forms of prostate disease are inflammation (prostatitis), non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH) and prostate cancer. A few benign prostate issues can easily be resolved with a urologist’s intervention. Prostatitis that happens because of a bacterial infection can be resolved with a course of specific antibiotics. The other kind happens simply due to inflammation of the gland resulting in chronic pelvic pain. Both conditions usually affect men in the age group of 30-50
“One of the common prostate ailments for men above 55 years of age is the non-cancerous Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) that causes the urethra to narrow, putting undue pressure on the bladder whilst obstructing the flow of urine. The urine retention is painful and results in pain, bladder pressure and if left untreated, results in damage to the kidney function,” explained Dr Sohail.
Symptoms
The common symptoms include: Difficulty in passing urine, such as trouble starting the flow of urine The urge to urinate often, mainly at night feeling as the bladder can’t be fully emptied Painful urination Blood in the urine or blood coming
“gold standard” surgical treatment for BPH involves the insertion of a resectoscope through the penis and uses an electrical wire loop to cut away excess prostate tissue blocking the urethra.

from the urethra independent of urination. Blood in the urine may be not related to the prostate and it’s important to consult a doctor.
Diagnosis and tests Prostate disease is diagnosed using a variety of tests, including physical examination, digital rectal examination (DRE), where the doctor can prescribe blood tests such as prostate specific antigen (PSA test) or mid-stream urine (MSU) tests to look for infection or blood in the urine, ultrasound scans and urinary flow studies.
Treatment of prostate disease Medicines remain the cornerstone of treatment for thousands of men suffering from enlarged prostate gland. Prostatitis can be treated with anti-bacterial drugs, Alpha-blockers and 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors, while BPH may be treated with medications to relax the smooth muscle of the gland or to shrink the size of the prostate. Surgery is an option to produce a permanently widened channel in the part of the urethra that passes through the prostate.
Other Minimally Invasive Treatments (MIST): Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP). Considered the
Laser Therapies: These procedures use different types of lasers (holmium, green light) to either enucleate (cut and remove, like peeling an orange) or vaporize (melt away) the excess tissue. Aquablation: Uses a robotically guided, high-pressure water jet to precisely remove tissue. Rezum Water Vapor Therapy: Delivers sterile steam to destroy prostate cells, which are then reabsorbed by the body. Urolift: Where tiny implants are used to hold, the prostate tissue away from the urethra
which involves minimally invasive intervention to remove the prostate or prostatectomy.”
Other options include: Radiotherapy Focal ablation treatments such as high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) For advanced or metastatic prostate cancer treatment modalities include hormone treatment (androgen deprivation therapy) chemotherapy Immunotherapy Tech Innovation Another major shift that has taken place is the digital health platforms that enable men track symptoms, log urinary patterns, and connect with their doctors remotely. AI-powered apps can flag concerning trends, prompting earlier intervention.
Prostate cancer
“The most common cancer among men is Prostate Cancer that if detected early through a Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA)Test which is considered the gold standard worldwide in diagnosis, it can be cured completely,” said Prof Dr Rabi. Every man above 50 must get PSA done annually. In early stages, the cancer cells are confined to the prostate gland. With the more aggressive types of prostate cancer, cancer cells enter the vascular and lymphatic systems early and spread to other parts of the body where they develop secondary tumors, particularly in the bones.
Biopsy & Treatment modalities Dr Madi added, “once a person is diagnosed with Prostate cancer, the treatment and outcome depend on the state at which it is diagnosed. Early-stage Prostate Cancer is curable and the gold standard for this is robotic surgery
Tweak your lifestyle Diets rich in vegetables, omega-3 fatty acids, and whole grains alongside regular exercise have been linked to lower prostate cancer risk. Avoiding smoking and managing weight are equally important. “What’s good for your heart is also good for your prostate,” says Dr Rabi.
Integrated Care Managing prostate disease isn’t only about urologists and surgeons. The most effective care is multidisciplinary which involves oncologists, nutritionists, physiotherapists, and psychologists. Men coping with prostate cancer often face side effects such as incontinence, and fatigue, and an integrated team ensures these challenges are addressed comprehensively. H

for all seasons
Dr Ludmilla Vassileva, Md, GP, Cardiologist, Homeopath and Founder of Holistic Healing Medicine and Holistic Healing Medical Center combines Western Science with Eastern Wisdom. A Doctor of Western Medicine with an MBBS degree, a Cardiologist, a Homeopath, Dr. Ludmila invented Holistic Healing Medicine based on the Science of Physics and Mathematics and the principle of her discovery of optimal disease that sickness should not be suppressed but put in optimal direction for healing based on life energy and regeneration. for the body, mind, and soul, and supports the natural regenerative ability of the human body for health, youth, and longevity.
She has worked tirelessly with health ministry officials for over three decades to work out the regulations and recognition that is due to holistic and integrated medicine.
“Since 1990s, I worked closely with key health ministry officials to convince the ministry officials emphasizing on the power and efficacy of Holistic and Integrative medicine. It took me over seven years of constant work on this, to obtain a license to practice integrative Holistic medicine in the UAE. So, I can say with confidence that the Holistic and traditional medicine I practice is entirely rooted in law and regulation in the UAE practices and beliefs,” said Dr Ludmilla. She feels that the UAE that is blessed with natural sun, sand, and blue oceans all around, has its own brand of holistic panaceas, and she has only tapped into this abundance. Her clinic in Dubai offers a variety of wellness programs to provide optimal health tailored to the health needs of an individual.
It is little wonder then that in September 2025, the UAE Federal Council finally announced the setting up of the Emirates Integrative Medicine Council, chaired by Shaikha Salama Bint Tahoon bin Mohmmad Al Nahyan. Integrative medicine refers to a combination of traditional and complementary medicine from the East such as Ayurveda, Acupuncture, Homeopathy and Western Medicine to provide a cumulative and collective benefit for the individual. This involves, first and foremost, the concept of wellness. This means focusing on health, not disease or sickness but wellness and balancing of energies with the application of holistic knowledge to transform humans from stress, suffering, sickness to health and happiness. Integrative medicine combines both traditional and modern medicine to provide a comprehensive panacea

physician who combines her expertise in homeopathy, Iridology, acupuncture, ayurveda, balanced nutrition to provide the perfect healing panacea to patients who walk in at her center that was established since 1998. She has a rich history of medical success stories with her patients. In a span of three decades, she has harnessed the power of integrative and holistic medicine to transform the over 1.5 million patients who have consulted her. Elaborating on her unique knowledge and craft, she told HEALTH, “I do not challenge modern medicine – there is a place for both modern and holistic medicine. What I offer is another option that works at a much deeper level- a dimension that was always meant to be included. We do not need to replace it as it has brought in immense benefits to patients. Modern medicine has side effects. What I offer is a combination of both perspectives - modern and holistic- to help patients choose the most effective path to health.”
She worked hard to bring homeopathy and other Holistic Medicine to the forefront first in the Ukraine, from where she hails and then in the UAE. She was the first homeopath and holistic physician in the UAE. Now with the UAE Federal cabinet’s decision to have an integrative medicine council, it appears that the country is all set to embrace the power of Holistic Healing, something that Dr Ludmilla has been espousing for over three decades.
UAE, the natural center for Holistic Medicine. Dr Ludmilla’s holistic solutions address the health needs of the entire family. Be it gut health, right nutrition, balancing the energies in children with efficacious homeopathic cures, lasting solutions for women’s reproductive health, non-toxic medicines for menopause, holistic cures for modern chronic and lifestyle diseases that have their origin
“In the times we live in, we need to combine the pragmatism of Western science with the wisdom of Eastern medicine. Practices like ayurveda, and acupuncture that have existed for more than 5000 years can work together with scientific insights of modern medicine. The fact that UAE is supporting holistic medicine with the establishment if the integrative medicine council is praiseworthy,” explained Dr Ludmilla.
Ushering in health and harmony Holistic Healing balances the body’s natural regenerative ability. “While hospitals care for disease, holistic healing serves health. Human health refers to a balanced state of being – an equilibrium that requires continuous support of all that is natural, preventive and regenerative, and not suppressed with chemicals. Globally, we tend to acknowledge and reward sickness and not the power of prevention and regeneration that Holistic medicine brings with its practice. If we learn to focus on good health and look at ways of preserving it, then disease need not be part of the conversation,” she reiterated. Dr Ludmila feels the UAE is the ideal place to nurture and proliferate the principles of holistic healing that will usher in a dawn of good health and balanced life for the entire human race. Holistic Health
The Art of Healing from Within
True wellness isn’t found in a pill, a diet, or a 30-day challenge. It begins when we start listening to the subtle signals our body sends us — fatigue, cravings, anxiety, hormonal shifts — all reminders that something deeper needs attention, says Rupali Lamba, Dubai-based certified holistic health coach & Genomic Wellness Consultant. In a world that celebrates hustle and quick fixes, we often forget the quiet intelligence of the human body. Holistic health invites us to slow down, tune in, and reconnect - not just with our bodies, but with our minds and emotions. “Your body isn’t against you - it’s always communicating with you,” explains holistic healer, Rupali. It begins with food. Food, as Elixir
Every bite of food you eat communicates with your genes. Fresh, whole, colorful foods tell your body to thrive, while processed and refined foods create confusion at the cellular level. When you eat with mindfulness and gratitude, you not only nourish your body but also shift your emotions. Food can be medicine, but only when it’s eaten with awareness.
Stress, the Hidden Saboteur Our modern lifestyles keep us constantly “switched on,” triggering the body’s stress response far too often. Chronic stress quietly disrupts digestion, sleep, and hormonal balance. Rupali elaborates: “The body can’t heal in fight-or-flight mode.” The antidote is simple — short pauses through deep breathing, mindful breaks, or time in nature to remind your body it’s safe to rest and heal.
Move to Renew Movement is medicine, not punishment. Whether it’s yoga, dance, or a mindful walk, moving your body with intention helps release stagnation and boosts emotional flow. Choose what feels

joyful rather than exhausting. When movement becomes self-care instead of self-control, your body responds with energy and strength.
Sleep, the Unsung Healer Sleep is your body’s natural reset button. It’s during deep rest that your cells repair, hormones rebalance, and your mind finds clarity. A calm bedtime ritual — dim lights, a warm bath, herbal tea, no screens — can turn your nights into powerful healing hours.
The Mind-Body Connection Science now confirms what ancient wisdom always knew: your thoughts shape your biology. Emotions like gratitude, love, and forgiveness create measurable shifts in your nervous and immune systems. Healing happens faster when you move from self-criticism to self-compassion — when you treat yourself the way you would treat someone you love. Holistic health isn’t about perfection. It’s about alignment — the balance between what your body needs, what your mind believes, and what your spirit feels. Every small act of awareness — one deep breath, one mindful meal, one early bedtime — helps restore your natural rhythm. When your body, mind, and spirit work together, you don’t just heal… you thrive. H

Winter skincare
Beautician Loubna Larhzal’s tips for having a
healthy winter glow As winter descends upon the UAE there is much relief and jubilation. Cool weather feels good on our skin however, skin care specialists and beauticians caution to have a more detailed routine for your skincare dryness in the weather can result in drier, flaky skin and trigger aging.
Loubna Larhzal Speaking to HEALTH, popular beautician Loubna Larhzal who is passionate about skincare said, “During winters, we feel less thirsty and forget to drink enough water; our skin is already thirsty and less moisturized and add to that the impact of the dry weather. It ruins the delicate PH balance of the skin which needs plenty of moisture to remain smooth and supple. Besides that, since it is cooler, we often like to spend more time outdoors and longer walks on the beach. The sun rays are still harsh and the combination of heat and fine sand particles like abrasives on

the skin, result in rough, dry, skin where we are likely to deal with acne, and sudden appearances of lines and wrinkles. Therefore, extra care is required during the winter months.” The human skin is the largest organ on our body covering 100 per cent of the body surface and beginning with care for soles of feet and hands, the entire surface of the skin requires cleansing and moisturizing, more so, the skin on one’s face. One needs a special cleansing, toning and moisturizing (CTM) routine. “We all love soft hands and feet, and more importantly we focus on our facial skin as it tans easily, gets flaky and dry, breaks into acne and pimples and requires special handling to keep the texture and glow intact,” adds Loubna.
Special skincare the winters Loubna advises a special care for hands and feet to be followed everyday and a different CTM routine for the face.
Care for your hands and feet
Soak your hands in a bowl of warm water with salts and feet in bucket full of warm water with Epsom salts in the evening for a duration of 15 minutes. Then pat dry and use a generous dollop of cocoa butter cream to moisturize your limbs every day. Wear mittens while sleeping and use cotton moccasins on your feet while walking around in your home. Pamper your face First, use oil or an oil-based mild cream to completely take off remnants of the day’s makeup and mascara. Once that is done, next, use a gentle
hydrating cleanser. No harsh or abrasive scrub should be used during the winters as it is likely to strip the face of moisture. Once the face is cleaned, use a mild toner with aloe-vera and rose water. Gently dab on your face with a soft cotton swab and clear any. A toner is like a primer which smooths the surface. Once toned, apply a good moisturizing cream and massage it deeply into face with clockwise and in upward movement.
Hydrate, hydrate and hydrate While creams and lotions can repair at the surface, you really need to take care of cellular level hydration but having ample water, salads, water-rich fruits and avoiding excessive tea, coffee, soda or alcohol that can play havoc with your skin. These drinks are diuretics that soak up water at a cellular level and result in dryness on the skin surface. Sunscreen Whenever you step out of home make sure, you have a good SPF 50 sunscreen. The winter sun may not seem as hot as during summers, but the ultra-violet rays result in skin damage that could cause premature aging. Moisturize Use a good moisturizer before applying make-up in the morning whilst stepping out. Cleaning, toning and moisturizing the skin morning and evening is a ritual you cannot miss to keep skin healthy and free of fine lines. Nutrition Have a well-balanced meal with antioxidant-rich raw salad, nuts, sprouts, fruits, oily fish rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, protein-rich foods that provide all amino acids for repair and rejuvenation. Have food cooked with minimum oil.
Women who go on strict diets can suffer from vitamin deficiencies that can result in dry skin, pigmentation and fine lines.
Creams Invest in high quality anti-aging creams, ceramides and consult a skin specialist at least once a month.
A Homemade cream for winter skincare While one can invest in some expensive anti-aging night repair creams, you might want to use these sparingly. Loubna recommends creating you own moisturizing face cream for the winters. “Take three teaspoons of shea butter or cocoa butter as the main moisturizing base. To this you can a teaspoon or 7-8 drops of almond, jojoba, argan and rose-hip seed oil each. If you have two or three of these essential oils, that should suffice. These oils are rich in vitamin E, prevent acne and add essential fatty acids to fight environmental damage. Blend these ingredients well, then add a large tablespoon or pure aloe-vera gel, a teaspoon of vitamin E oil and a teaspoon of glycerine. To make this cream more effective, add either a teaspoon of rice powder or soyabean powder. Mix everything well, till it is a homogenous blend. Store in a cool place and make it a routine to apply this during the night after your CTM routine. This home-made cream will have no chemicals or preservatives and will be a rich moisturizing agent.” H

Health Update
Revisiting Type 2 Diabetes What we know, what’s changing, and how to stay ahead Walk into any clinic on a weekday morning and you’ll meet people carrying the quiet weight of Type 2 diabetes (T2D): parents stopping off at labs to give their fasting blood samples before heading to work, office workers comparing notes on their HBA1C*, new injectables, those with the condition discussing if remission is possible. The short answer, more is possible today than even five years ago provided we catch risk early, use the right tools, and pair medicine with smart, sustainable habits.
With over 90 per cent of the diabetes scourge being T2D, we know it affects roughly 1 in 9 adults worldwide with numbers continuing to climb especially in low and middle-income countries. Many people remain undiagnosed or untreated, a reason why routine screening and prevention matter as much as ever.
Dr. Anil Kumar Pura Narayanaswamy
Consultant Endocrinologist & Diabetologist at Prime Health Group
Experts advise earlier testing for people at risk and are expanding now on how we use technology and medications that protect the heart and kidneys, not just lower glucose.
Causes, symptoms, and who’s at risk
Type 2 Diabetes occurs when the body becomes resistant to insulin and/or the pancreas doesn’t make enough. “Genetics, age, excess body fat (especially around the waist), sleep deprivation, certain medications, a history of gestational diabetes, and some ethnic backgrounds all raise risk. Typical symptoms include frequent urination, thirst, fatigue, blurry vision, slow-healing wounds, and majority, nothing at all,” says Dr. Anil Kumar Pura Narayanaswamy , Consultant Endocrinologist & Diabetologist at Prime Health Group. That’s why riskbased screening starting in mid-adulthood (earlier if you’re high risk) is vital. Nov/Dec 2025

Decades of evidence show lifestyle change works. In one study, people with prediabetes who lost around 7% of body weight and exercised for around 150 minutes weekly cut their diabetes risk by 58%. The benefits endure over many years.
Dr Anil Kumar suggests some steps individuals can take to reduce the risk: Food pattern: Choose minimally processed, fiber-rich foods (vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts), lean proteins, and healthy fats. Quality counts as much as quantity. Movement: Aim for at least 150 minutes/week of moderate activity plus 2 days of resistance training; sit less, move more. (Bonus: even brisk 10-minute bursts of activity help.) Sleep & stress: Prioritize 7–9 hours’ sleep; use stress-reduction strategies (breath work, walking meetings, short meditations). Weight management: Early, supported weight loss of 10–15% can prevent diabetes or induce remission if you already have it. Structured programs and coaching raise success rates.
Combating the enemy within
A common question patient have is whether Type 2 diabetes can go into remission. The simple answer is yes, particularly early after diagnosis and with meaningful, maintained weight loss, point out many experts. The DiRECT (DIabetes Remission Clinical Trial) was a landmark study demonstrating that type 2 diabetes can be put into remission through significant weight loss, often achieved
via a low-calorie total diet replacement (TDR) program of around 800 calories per day, followed by support to reintroduce solid foods.
blood vessels and nerves, raising the risk of heart disease and stroke - still the leading causes of death in diabetes, point out endocrinologists.
But remission is not a cure; monitoring must continue, and weight regain often reverses gains, warn experts.
Kidney conditions too are a complication to keep in mind. “Eye disease (retinopathy) can be caught early if regular annual dilated eye exams are done.
Groundbreaking therapies
There have been new age treatments and panaceas for diabetes which are all under trial now. The future holds great hope for a cure.
Oral medications
A new oral, non-peptide drug has shown promising results in clinical trials for reducing HbA1c and body weight. It may offer a simpler alternative to injectable medications. SGLT2 inhibitors: These drugs already in circulation are actually becoming very popular with the younger generation, cause excess glucose to be excreted in the urine. They can also lead to weight loss and benefits for heart and kidney health. Dual incretin receptor agonists: Branded medications like tirzepatide activate both GLP-1 and GIP receptors to increase insulin secretion, reduce glucagon release, and promote weight loss.
Surgical Procedures Duodenal reset A procedure where a device is inserted through the throat to deliver electrical pulses to the duodenum. This aims to reset the lining of the intestine, potentially improving the body’s response to food and lowering blood glucose
Pancreas Transplant This has been successful in patients of Type 1 diabetes
Complications to beat before they start
Uncontrolled T2D silently injures
Also, daily foot checks, proper footwear, and early podiatry prevent ulcers and amputations Liver disease, sleep apnea, and depression are also common and treatable comorbidities.
Screening saves complications. If you’re at risk, ask for: HBA1C, fasting glucose, or OGTT for diagnosis/monitoring. Blood pressure & lipids (treat both aggressively). Kidney tests (eGFR and urine albumin) must be carried out annually, caution doctors.
How to Live well with Type 2 diabetes? Know your numbers: Monitor blood pressure, LDL, weight, and waist. Build a supportive plate: Half veg, quarter lean protein, quarter whole grains or starchy veg; add nuts/ olive oil; plan protein at breakfast; hydrate. Move most days: Schedule walks after meals; add two short strength sessions weekly. Protect organs early: Don’t wait for symptoms to guard your heart, kidneys, eyes, and feet. Think “team sport”: Primarycare clinicians, endocrinologists, dietitians, diabetes educators, eye and foot specialists all have distinct roles. Structured education is not a nicety; it’s therapy. Type 2 diabetes is common, but not inevitable, and certainly not
hopeless. The combination of early detection, evidence-based medications (chosen for you), structured education, sensible nutrition, daily movement, and, where appropriate, diabetes tech can prevent the disease, bring it into remission, or keep complications at bay. The future may add beta-cell restoration to that toolkit; for now, doing the basics brilliantly is still the most powerful medicine we have.
What is HbA1c?
HbA1c refers to glycated hemoglobin. This is a blood test that measures the average blood sugar level in an individual over the past two to three months. It’s a key test for diagnosing and monitoring diabetes, as glucose from the blood attaches to a protein in red blood cells called hemoglobin. A high HbA1c level of over 6.5% indicates Diabetes Mellitus, high average blood sugar and a greater risk of diabetes-related complications. In non-diabetics the reading is 4.0 to 5.6%. In pre-diabetics it is between 5.6%– 6.4% and diabetes patients may have anything higher than that. The higher the reading, the poorer the blood sugar control. H

Ask the Experts
Dr Partha Sarathi Das
Medical Director, consultant in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, at the Orchid IVF and Fertility Centre, Dubai
Q: For a young woman undergoing chemotherapy for breast, ovarian or cervical cancer, how long before the procedure should she freeze her eggs? What does it involve?
the menstrual cycle (“randomstart protocol”) — reducing delay.
In the era of modern reproductive medicine, most patients are advised to begin fertility preservation immediately on diagnosis of cancer and before chemotherapy starts. Usually 1–2 weeks before actual chemotherapy starts. Another noteworthy point to keep in mind is that it can be started at any phase or day of the menstrual cycle which is called random start stimulation.
If chemotherapy cannot be delayed, an oncologist may help coordinate rapid referral so treatment can begin as soon as the retrieval cycle is complete.
Usually, the ovarian stimulation starts from menstrual period day 2 and egg retrieval process usually takes 10–14 days.
Daily hormone injections to stimulate multiple eggs
In urgent cases, many clinics can start stimulation at any point in
Nov/Dec 2025
46
Egg freezing should ideally happen before starting chemotherapy, because chemo (especially alkylating agents) can significantly damage egg quantity and quality.
Step by step process of cryopreservation technique: 1) Initial Evaluation on cycle day 2 for ultrasound and blood tests 2) Ovarian Stimulation (10–12 days)
Blood tests + ultrasounds frequently to optimize outcome. 3) Trigger Injection (36 hours
before retrieval) is Final injection which helps mature eggs to be frozen. 4) Egg Retrieval which lasts around 30 min done under short General anesthesia. The patient is discharged after 2-3 hours of procedure. All the Mature eggs are frozen via vitrification Freezing around 20 eggs is often recommended to improve future chances of pregnancy Some hormone medications can be modified to control estrogen levels, which is important for estrogen-sensitive cancers (e.g., some breast cancers). If egg freezing is not possible then, Embryo freezing is an alternative, if the patient has a partner. Ovarian tissue freezing (can be done immediately; still considered partly experimental but used more widely now).

A: At MindTune, we offer Brain Mapping (Quantitative EEG) to help individuals improve focus, emotional balance, sleep quality, and overall mental clarity. It’s one of the most advanced tools for understanding how your brain functions in real time turning invisible activity into visible insight.
By seeing which areas are overactive or underactive, specialists can pinpoint root causes behind emotional triggers, mental fatigue, or poor focus—making mental-wellness strategies more precise and personalized.
What is Brain Mapping?
Your Brain Map helps identify patterns linked to stress, anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, addiction, and sleep issues.
How This Data Helps
Brain Mapping is a safe, painless, and noninvasive process that measures your brain’s electrical activity, also known as brainwaves.
By turning invisible activity into visible data, Brain Mapping transforms mental health from guesswork into measurable science.
Using gentle, medical-grade sensors — similar to an ECG for the heart, we record and visualize how different brain regions communicate and process information.
It doesn’t just show what’s wrong; it can help us understand why certain patterns appear and, more importantly, how to address them.
While MRI or CT scans show the brain’s structure, Brain Mapping reveals its function: the speed, balance, and synchronization of neural activity. Think of it as a live traffic map for your mind— showing where signals flow smoothly and where bottlenecks or overactive areas may appear.
These insights lay the foundation for brainwave optimization - a guided process that trains the brain to restore balance, clarity, and resilience. safely and drug-free When your brain finds balance, everything else follows - focus sharpens, calm returns, and the mind begins to thrive again.

Dining Out A Dual Heritage Marine Culinary Symphony forward dish of thinly sliced sea bass that flirts with heat and zing in every bite. It’s elegant, with a clean finish that preps the palate for what’s next. And what was next, just stole the show. The Maki Acevichado isn’t your typical sushi roll. Think of it as a rebellious cousin — topped with ceviche sauce and well-cooked seafood. It was warm, rich, and undeniably addictive. If you order one thing twice, make it this. With a dash of chilies in vinegar, this dish is divine! The Scallops Parmesan rounded off the experience. Warm, briny, and with a pronounced crabmeat essence, it was chewy and comforting — a grounding endnote to a largely refreshing menu.
At Taj JLT’s Nonya, savor the Nikkei experience created by Chef Nicolas Madueno
The seafood was elevated by a perfect interplay of textures and flavors. It’s the kind of opener that makes you sit up straighter in your chair.
When two culinary worlds meet, magic can happen — and that’s precisely what’s simmering at Nonya with its newly unveiled tasting menu, the Nikkei Experience. Curated by Chef Nicolas Madueno, this multi-course journey celebrates the beautiful fusion of Japanese precision with bold Peruvian flair — a cuisine born in the late 1800s when Japanese migrants settled along Peru’s Pacific coast, reimagining their homeland’s recipes with the bounty of Peru’s coast, rainforest, and mountains.
Next, Pulpo al Olivio demanded patience. The octopus, bathed in a silky olive-based sauce, is best appreciated slowly — chew gently, and it rewards you with waves of smoky, briny flavor.
This isn’t just a dinner; it’s a cultural deep dive. Each course acts like a passport stamp — unexpected, layered, and deeply satisfying. We began with Takos de Conchita, a crispy amuse-bouche that set the tone for the entire evening with its delicate crunch and whisper of spice.

Then came the Ceviche Clasico, the anchor of the menu and arguably the soul of Nikkei cuisine. Here, sea bass swam in a punchy leche de tigre, beautifully mellowed by tender sweet potatoes. If you’ve ever wondered how citrus, spice, and seafood could feel like comfort food — this is your answer. The Ceviche Mixto brought even more dimensions with prawns and octopus joining the sea bass ensemble. It’s a vibrant, more textural take on the classic. The visual stunner of the evening was the Tiradito Dos Colores — a citrus-
A thoughtful touch? The menu’s warm dishes — the maki and scallops — were subtly spaced between chilled plates, creating a pleasing rhythm. Paired with a crisp glass of white wine, the Nikkei Experience becomes less of a tasting and more of a celebration of culture adaptation. At Nonya, this isn’t just fusion done well — it’s a love letter to heritage, told through ingredients, techniques, and the stories they carry. The Nikkei Experience is bold yet refined, nostalgic yet inventive — and absolutely worth a seat at the table. For reservations please call: +971 52 263 1565 or email: nonyadubai@tajhotels.com
