he had dreamed of this day for a decade.

As Diana Laura Lei De Leon walked into a Louisiana hospital last summer to begin as a nurse in the medical-surgical unit, she thought about the journey that had led her there, how right the move from the Philippines was for her family and how excited she was for the future. “I’m so happy with my decision and hope my story inspires more nurses,” she said. Most Americans have no idea about the path that brings desperately needed nurses to their bedsides from other countries.
