FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Friend, You are a treasured supporter of Holy Cross Family Ministries (HCFM) who has helped us transform lives through sharing the Rosary and powerful spiritual experiences with millions. As you will read in this Mission Impact Report 2019, this past year has been a historic time for HCFM and your partnership has brought us here. In 2018-2019, our international work and family-based media reach thrived while we launched the new Museum of Family Prayer in Easton, Massachusetts. Today, we better expose families to the beauty, goodness, power, and promise of family prayer. We further the legacy of Venerable Patrick Peyton, who believed that, "prayer is the air we breathe." Research shows that families desire to engage in prayer and faith, yet they often do not have the resources to bring their families together to do so. The Museum of Family Prayer and our various ministries provide families creative and interactive ways to pray and grow in the faith. With your help we have taken action and serve thousands of families each day. As you read more about the Museum and our other ministries in this Report, remember it is the action of generous supporters like you that allows families to grow stronger through experiencing prayer, faith-based media, and family-focused services. MUSEUM OF FAMILY PRAYER OPENS Prayer. Faith. Action. Imagine a faith-filled, educational place that brings families and the next generation of Catholics closer to God through prayer, and strengthens our community and the Church. We have made this a reality through the Museum of Family Prayer. The Museum of Family Prayer is a contemporary experience that engages people in the history and power of prayer and depicts the inspiring story of Venerable Patrick Peyton. Venerable Peyton founded HCFM and dedicated himself to changing lives through family prayer and spiritual support. We believe he will one day be the patron saint of Family Prayer, making the Museum a future pilgrimage site. The Museum’s story of prayer is complemented by faith-filled programs and activities that further engage people in prayer and faith. The opening of the Museum presents us with a historic opportunity to reengage the family in faith. Your partnership has made the Museum possible and will reshape the prayer and faith experience!

AN INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCE This first-of-its-kind Museum offers a unique, interactive experience of prayer using media for the entire family to experience together. From classic footage of Father Peyton to modern testimonies on the personal impact of prayer, the Museum of Family Prayer offers a space to touch, listen, watch, reflect, and pray. The Museum of Family Prayer will educate the hearts and minds of all who walk through its doors and serves the youth and families through the following faith-filled initiatives and opportunities:
Strengthening the Next Generation—by giving young people tailored educational programs with tours of the Museum. We will lead Catholic school field trips that enable students to learn about and experience the power and promise of family prayer in a fun and engaging way. Cultivating Catholic Families—by giving families access to guided tours, engaging events, and take-home prayer kits that support and strengthen the knowledge and experience of prayer and faith.

A PLACE FOR TRANSFORMATION Saint Thomas Aquinas once said, “We cannot love what we do not know.� If children and families do not know the Catholic faith they will not fall in love with it and will cease to develop as strong Christians. Alternatively, imagine if people better understood and experienced the power of prayer and faith through a contemporary, interactive experience. Together we have taken action through the Museum of Family Prayer so we can be pillars of education in prayer and faith. The need for educators in prayer and faith, thus the need for the Museum, is tremendous. The opportunity before us is historic. The time to take action is now. Today, we have already welcomed hundreds to the Museum and many have become a Member of the Museum to provide the critical funds to keep admission and programming at the Museum free. We believe this incredible initial level of support and engagement among visitors is truly a sign that the Museum is a place for transformation. Looking Ahead PRAY: The Story of Patrick Peyton An inspiring documentary about a poor, uneducated Irish immigrant who sets sail for America in 1928 with nothing but his faith and dreams of becoming a millionaire. Arriving in Pennsylvania, he is unable to find work, so he accepts a position as a janitor at the cathedral, rekindling his long lost desire to become a priest and changing the course of his life.
Never taking no for an answer, he convinces Hollywood's biggest stars to help him spread the message that “the family that prays together stays together" through the power of mass media, including radio, television, and film. Father Peyton's fame spreads around the world and audiences in the millions flock to his public prayer rallies.
Nearing ordination, his life takes a radical turn when he is struck with tuberculosis. Facing certain death, he sinks into despair; a visit from his mentor who delivers a simple message to pray lifts the darkness. Taking his advice to heart, Patrick prays fervently to Mary, the Mother of Christ, for her intercession. He experiences a miraculous recovery and, deeply indebted to God for his recovery, dedicates his life to tell all the world about the power of prayer and encourages families everywhere to bring prayer into their homes.

F A M I LY R O S A R Y CANADA In 1948, Venerable Patrick Peyton organized the first Rosary Rally in London, Ontario. Now seventy years later, Holy Cross Family Ministries is proud to announce that we have opened a Family Rosary office in Toronto, Canada. With Canada being such a multicultural rich country, we are blessed to begin the ministry at St. Ann Parish in Toronto.
To officially celebrate the 70th anniversary of Father Peyton’s first Rosary Rally, a day of Family Retreat and Rosary Procession was held at St. Mary’s Church in London, Ontario November 30 to December 1, 2018. We ask for your prayers as we venture into this vital ministry for all Christian families in Canada.
The Archdiocese of Toronto is the hub of many Catholic immigrant families, and with the cooperation of the members of St. Ann Parish, we will promote and encourage Family Prayer and foster unity and mutual support among the faithful. Our vision and motto for this new Family Rosary office will be “Families United in Prayer.” So far in Canada, we have held three Rosary rallies, five family retreats, and invited everyone to join in our mission activities by distributing more than 8,500 newsletters and 5,000 Try Prayer cards.

F A M I LY R O S A R Y F R A N C E Day after day, young people, families, people with illnesses, and pilgrims all come to pray the Rosary at Family Rosary’s Chapel of Mary in Lourdes, France. We welcome more than 12,000 visitors annually from many countries including Poland, Russia, Spain, Cameroon, Togo, Taiwan, Philippines, Vietnam, England, Australia, Mali, Korea, Iraq, and Canada. Thank you for helping us educate families about prayer, and share more than 20,000 Rosaries annually as well as Father Peyton’s message “A World at Prayer is a World at Peace.”
Worldwide, Family Rosary serves over 100,000 people through days of prayer and retreats.

Empowering Women in Peru The Father Peyton Family Institute, also known as Instituto Pastoral de la Familia (INFAM) (Spanish), has been serving and empowering families for over 20 years. Founded by Father David Farrell, C.S.C., in 1997, the Institute uses data from research to identify the needs of local families and in response to those needs, delivers tailored services to families that 18

maximize impact, all to enhance unity in the home. INFAM provides services that address the root causes of various issues while incorporating the faith to transform families and improve the lives of people in the neediest communities. Education, training, and counseling are
available on an array of topics, including domestic violence. Studies show that domestic violence is on the rise in Peru with pregnant women being the most vulnerable victims. In response, INFAM collaborated with the University of Notre Dame on a research program focused on pregnant women in Peru and the effectiveness of efforts to help them work through the trauma of domestic violence.

Building Community in India The construction for the new Father Peyton Family Institute in Bangalore, India, will be complete in early 2020. The Father Peyton Family Institute has been active for a few years in India and has been operating out of a small space. We are excited to expand to this new Institute, which includes a chapel, conference and media rooms, administrative offices, and retreat housing. The needs of the family in India have multiplied in recent years. This new facility will expand Holy Cross Family Ministries’ ability to serve families through faith-based leadership seminars, family retreats, and counseling programs.

Financial Highlights Investing donations and endowment funds wisely. Just as you are generously committed to furthering our mission, we are committed to fiscal prudence to ensure sustainability and growth. Through your donations, we were able to raise $2.4M through 2,088 gifts in Fiscal Year 2019 ( July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019). Investment returns from past generous endowment gifts covered the balance of our expenses. Fiscal Year 2019 expenses were in keeping with charity rating acceptable standards and measures, demonstrating a strong, responsible organization. 24 24

FROM THE CHAIRMAN It is my pleasure to share with you the HCFM Mission Impact Report 2019. Our 2018-2019 year has been filled with extraordinary accomplishments for HCFM and the HCFM Foundation. The new Museum of Family Prayer opened, while the reach of our ministries of Family Rosary, Family Theater Productions, the Peyton Family Institutes and Catholic Mom served more people than ever. Our fundraising revenue grew by 84%, allowing us to fund more projects worldwide. Our entire fundraising team and Board of Directors are incredibly grateful for all the individuals, foundations, and organizations who made generous donations, surpassing our historical performance. Thank you for all you do to further our mission as your support makes our work and success possible. Venerable Patrick Peyton began HCFM more than 75 years ago with the goal of building family unity and developing a more peaceful world through prayer and spiritual support. We are blessed to continue this vital work to fulfill Father Peyton’s vision that “The Family That Prays Together Stays Together” through the Museum of Family Prayer, our ministry centers around the world, and free digital resources. TRY PRAYER! IT WORKS! CONTEST
The Try Prayer! It Works! Contest focuses on family faith enrichment in the home. The goal is to bring the Church’s teachings to life around the dinner table with discussion prompts, reflection questions, prayer ideas, and creativity. Each year, children and teens from Catholic schools, parishes, and other Catholic organizations across the globe utilize their creative skills to illustrate a different faith-based theme. This year’s theme, Mary, Mother of the Church, helped families explore how Mary isn’t only the Mother of Jesus, but also Mother to us all.
