Our Vision Holy Cross Family Ministries strives to be a respected and reliable catalyst for inspiration, support and dynamic content on family life through a focus on spirituality and prayer, especially the Rosary.
Congregation of Holy Cross Holy Cross Family Ministries is proudly under the sponsorship of the Congregation of Holy Cross, who shares in the Church’s mission by working as educators in the faith. The Congregation’s ministries, whether through Holy Cross Family Ministries, schools, parishes, or other works of missionary outreach and social justice, serves by educating hearts and minds and building communities of the coming kingdom.

Message from the President Dear Friends, Seventy-five years ago, Father Patrick Peyton C.S.C., founded Holy Cross Family Ministries and called on families to pray and unite. This past year we called on your prayers and philanthropic support so that Father Peyton’s work could endure through our growing ministry promoting prayer and supporting the spiritual well-being of families from our ministry offices in 16 countries on 5 continents. This Mission Impact Report honors all who answered this call and highlights how your support is entertaining, educating, and inspiring families to pray around the world. Seventy-five years into our story of family prayer and support, Holy Cross Family Ministries is exceptionally well-positioned. The reach of our family prayer resources through digital platforms, the distribution of Rosaries and other products, our faith-based media production, and our social services are all expanding. Additionally, the momentous announcement by Pope Francis that Father Peyton is now Venerable and a hero of the faith, along with recently crafting a new strategic plan has allowed us to recommit to expanding and deepening the impact of our programs and services. We have affirmed our promise to continue and strengthen our current programs while seeking fresh paths to educate, entertain and inspire people to experience the power and promise of family prayer. At Holy Cross Family Ministries, we believe the family is the cornerstone of our society and as Pope Francis says, “The family is God’s masterpiece.” Yet today’s family is challenged more than ever by a rapidly changing society and praying as a family is often an infrequent experience in the twenty-first century. Our families need our help more than ever. The power of family prayer provides an opening of heart and mind to God’s love and mercy, which strengthens and unites families, while bringing much-needed peace into our world. Fulfilling our mission and vision requires your support. We are tremendously grateful for your prayer and financial support that enable us to continue the important work begun by Father Peyton. Venerable. Pope Francis Declares Father Patrick Peyton, C.S.C., Venerable
O
n December 18, the Vatican and the Cardinals at the Congregation for the Causes of Saints announced that our Holy Father, Pope Francis, has declared our founder, Father Patrick Peyton, C.S.C., “Venerable.” This designation represents a rare recognition by the universal Church that Father Peyton is a person of heroic virtue and a life worthy of veneration by all Christians. We continue to pray for Father Peyton’s Cause so that one day he will become “Blessed,” then “Saint.” After all, the world needs “A Saint for Family Prayer.”

This good news from Pope Francis provides us with a rare opportunity to re-introduce Father Peyton and his passion for Family Prayer to a whole new generation of Catholics, other Christians and people of good will. We firmly believe Father Peyton’s Canonization will inspire families around the world to gather together to pray, especially the Rosary, and thus bring to reality in their homes Father Peyton’s vision that, “The Family That Prays Together Stays Together.”
The Power and Promise of Family Prayer Known the world over as “The Rosary Priest,” Father Peyton began Family Rosary, in Albany, N.Y. in 1942, with the goal of building family unity through daily prayer of the Rosary. Father Peyton went on to lead millions in prayer at 40 Family Rosary Rallies that drew 28 million people, including 2 million each at events in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Manila, Philippines. Father Peyton, a Catholic media pioneer, spent the 51 years of his priesthood serving the spiritual needs of families. In 1947, he founded Family Theater Productions in Hollywood. Family Theater Productions
produced 900 radio and TV programs that featured hundreds of star actors and other celebrities and had more than 10,000 broadcasts. Seventy five years later, the essence of Father Peyton’s ministry is relevant and vibrant to families today. Father Peyton still inspires people all over the world by his holy life and the example of his strong and tender devotion to Our Blessed Mother. As Father Peyton did for so many years, Holy Cross Family Ministries continues to unleash the power and promise of family prayer.

W
ith the Pope raising Father Peyton’s status to “Venerable,” Holy Cross Family Ministries and families around the world, received an affirmation that the work of promoting prayer is crucial to having unified, strong families and a more peaceful world. Our ministry has an amazing responsibility to ensure the legacy of Father Peyton endures. Now more than ever, families need our support. Here are our four ministries that are fulfilling the promise and power of family prayer.
Family Rosary (Page 7) Family Rosary inspires and promotes the prayer life in 16 countries through retreats, days of reflection, and much more. Through social media and the internet, Family Rosary is engaging millions of families in prayer and spiritual development.

C
atholic and secular schools in East Africa are turning to Family Rosary to provide their students with resources on prayer and healthy relationships within the family. In 2017, our team in East Africa was invited to conduct three, day long retreats for five middle and high schools in the Kampala region. 59,000 youth attended throughout the three days. The questions students asked the retreat leaders reflected the universal questions many young people of faith struggle with such as: “How can I live out my faith daily?” “What should I say to my friend who is living immorally?” “How can I find forgiveness for an absent parent?” At the close of the retreat, Rosaries and prayer booklets were distributed for students to take home. They were so grateful for the entire experience and requested that the Family Rosary team visit again. Fifty students reached out to Family Rosary East Africa for further guidance after the retreat and have been receiving professional counseling from our team. Several teens have informed us that their lives have changed dramatically because of Family Rosary’s presence in their community. Their reliance on God has increased, grades in school have improved, and their family’s spirituality has been enhanced. Family Rosary is transforming lives and positively impacting our global community.

F
amily Rosary Mexico distributed Rosaries to 38,784 people for a variety of events in different Catholic Schools, Parishes and communities for pilgrimages for missions in the rural and mountainous areas, and for visits to the sick in hospitals. Missionaries frequently visit Family Rosary Mexico to pick up Rosaries and prayer materials in Spanish that will be distributed during their mission trips to countries such as Cuba and the Dominican Republic. One family felt led by the Holy Spirit to visit China and visited our office to restock before their trip. While in Shanghai, they met a Spanish speaking Chinese nun and distributed 4,000 Rosaries throughout China. At 75 years, Family Rosary's impact continues to reach beyond the 16 countries where we have our ministry offices.

IMPACT OF FAMILY ROSARY AROUND THE WORLD Over 60 parishes in the Philippines conducted days of prayer and retreats.

The Impact of Our Mission FAMILY THEATER PRODUCTIONS Catholic Central In 2017, Family Theater Productions launched our newest series, “Catholic Central.” Young people often have questions about the Catholic faith and what it means to be Catholic. “Catholic Central” has the answers. Using a team of witty writers, appealing hosts and even some learned theologians, we’ve created short videos that teach and inspire with the rich wisdom of the Church using humor and heart. Produced in the Family Theater Productions studios on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, “Catholic Central” educates, entertains, and inspires families. From episodes on Saints to Baptism to the Seven Deadly Sins, individuals and families seeking to learn more about the faith now have an exciting and engaging resource to do so. Check out all the recent episodes along with study guides and special bonus materials at www.CatholicCentral.com
and television industry. The program always includes prayer, a guest speaker or film screening, and concludes with a family-style meal. The program ranges from sessions on how to discern God’s will, to listening to career advice from veteran writers like Chris Broncato (Kings and Prophets, Narcos), to laughing at showcases of the latest in clean stand-up comedy. This along with Mass, Rosary, the Sacrament of Reconciliation and spiritual guidance make Family Theater Productions a center of support for many in Hollywood.

LOOKING AHEAD Coming April 17, 2018, Family Theater Productions, in collaboration with Paulist Productions, MPower Pictures and Pure Flix, brings to theaters nationally, The Dating Project, a fresh documentary that offers a new perspective on dating for those looking to find and nurture solid relationships. Strong marriages are founded on strong dating practices. Coming in late 2018, Family Theater Productions will release the latest documentary on the life of Venerable Father Patrick Peyton, C.S.C. with newly digitized footage from the archives of Holy Cross Family Ministries. In addition, our team in Hollywood is developing family television series, holiday films and feature projects.

The Impact of Our Mission THE FATHER PEYTON FAMILY INSTITUTES Peru
T
he Father Peyton Family Institute in Peru serves one of the most populous and poorest suburbs in Lima. Your continued support has enabled the Family Institute to strengthen families by continuing to provide daily spiritual and psychological guidance. Father Aníbal Niño Loarte, C.S.C., Director, and his staff members have worked rigorously to improve the quality of life for the community by finding new ways to help prevent domestic violence, addictions, and other social problems. Weekly programs and services have been established at the Family Institute to assist the neediest sectors of the society. Survivors of domestic violence, teens who are perceived as “problem students,” men who are recovering from addiction, children who are students of music and art, and a very active elderly aerobics group are among those who have had their lives transformed through the Institute.

To address the growing needs of families in India, we have begun the construction of a much larger Family Institute that will allow us to dramatically expand the services we provide and the number of families we reach. The new Institute building will include a chapel, conference center, meeting rooms, administrative offices, and residential housing that will give families a place to stay while they are partaking in retreats and other mission activities.
he Congregation of Holy Cross currently has 175 priests serving in India with a commitment to bettering the lives of needy families. The Father Peyton Family Institute in Bangalore has become the epicenter for Holy Cross’ impactful work in India. The Father Peyton Family Institute in Bangalore is committed to providing a variety of quality services, including marriage counseling and youth retreats, to families in need and has positioned itself to not only be a leader in building stronger families, but also build stronger communities in India.

Impact of Our Mission Catholic Mom In 2017, CatholicMom.com, the popular website for Catholic parents, became part of Holy Cross Family Ministries. The website was founded by Lisa Hendey in 2000 to create a community for parents to share insights on living their faith with their family. The website has grown substantially over the years to become a rich resource for all Catholics seeking spiritual enrichment for their families. With more than 140 contributors, CatholicMom.com provides advice and information, activities and daily reflections on an array of relevant topics.

Impact of Our Mission THE FATHER PEYTON CENTER In 2017, the Father Peyton Center in North Easton, Massachusetts continued to be a holy destination for individuals, families, parishes, and other groups. Guests are welcomed to experience a variety of spiritually enriching opportunities that further strengthen families and our communities. Visitors spend time in prayer or attend daily Mass in Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Chapel. While others partake in retreats, such as sacramental retreats, family-focused programs, and other activities such as our educational and inspiring monthly Father Peyton Guild events.
Over 25,000 annual visitors learning about and growing within the faith. Additionally, all guests have the opportunity to view displays about the life and works of Father Peyton, and visit the bookstore where all the DVD’s produced by Family Theater Productions are available for purchase along with a selection of religious resources for families. The Father Peyton Center is also the world headquarters for Holy Cross Family Ministries, providing the necessary support for our operations around the world.
LOOKING AHEAD With the exciting news of Pope Francis declaring Father Peyton Venerable, we are planning to revitalize the Father Peyton Center and create an interactive museum that will tell the story of Father Peyton’s life and work, while encouraging families to pray. Without you, our committed family of donors, our work to strengthen families and build unity throughout the world would not be possible. Through your donations we were able to raise $735,717 through 2,071 gifts in fiscal 2017 ( July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017), enabling us to continue Father Peyton’s work around the world. Twenty-seven percent went to operating the Peyton Center and Chapel in Easton, MA and support general administration expenses such as facilities worldwide, including studio offices in Hollywood, and operational support and staff, ensuring a strong infrastructure to support our mission activities.

Inspired by Father Peyton Robert Vukojevich of Los Angeles, CA enjoyed Father Peyton’s television programs created at Family Theater Productions and began to embody the message that “The Family That Prays Together Stays Together.” For 30 consecutive years, Robert has supported Holy Cross Family Ministries with over 60 gifts and is a proud member of the Partners in the Mission Society.
