ZHANG,YIXUAN PORTFOLIO

Hi, I’m Kitty, a passionate landscape architecture student who believes that every piece of land holds a story waiting to be revealed.

To me, landscape design is more than arranging space — it’s about understanding the spirit of a place and weaving together ecology, emotion, and experience. Whether I’m sketching under a tree, exploring native plant communities, or refining 3D visualizations late into the night, feel deeply connected to the land and its potential to heal, inspire, and connect.

I’m driven by the idea that good design doesn’t just please the eye — it restores ecosystems, welcomes communities, and honors both nature and culture. From urban parks to remote ecological sites, approach every project with curiosity, care, and the desire to make something meaningful — something that lasts.

Let’s build landscapes that speak, breathe, and belong.

An interesting soul who loves nature, and this major can just keep my soul and body inseparable.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The space designed is used to fill in the lack of places for soul care in life people in modern society generally suffer from various psychological diseases or mental disorders. Most of people look for external causes, while knowing nothing about how to reconcile with their own hearts, magnifing their pain infinitely and losing themselves constantly.

At the beginning of life, there is a complete and unified chaotic state in the maternal and newborn stages. Since we separated from the maternal body, we have been looking for a state of returning to the maternal body, which is doomed to never be found. Whereas inertia and instinct keep us looking in the future mirror, which seems to be the root of human self-division.

Now, we should establish a memory place for personal cultivation to recall our beautiful souls, where we can settle down in the noisy world alone and quietly and experience that our souls are individual, unique, and equal. There is no so-called mediocre problems and one’s value cannot be measured by social external achievements so as to relieve people’s mental pressure, regaining hope of life by means of finding out history as well as solving the future.

DESIGN DESCRIPTION

Founded in 1840, Dahua Factory enjoys a history of more than 150 years and is the first modern textile factory in China. The factory was almost destroyed due to the World War II, and a series of renovations followed provided it with mixed aesthetics of post-war architecture. Thereafter, it functioned as a museum and shopping mall, while its failure to attract tourists has led to the neighborhood into a more chaotic state.

This textile factory has witnessed the rise and fall of the whole Xi’an City, and the history, culture, architecture, and community of Dahua South Road together constitute a plentiful and diversified cultural connotations. Nevertheless, according to my research, the various cultural value of Dahua Factory has been obscured by dominant commercial culture, becoming an ordinary commercial street lacking in diversity and richness with the increasingly homogenized city commerce. Therefore, obtained inspiration from the historical changes of Dahua Factory, determined the core issue of this design as how to implant new block functions in this historic factory buildings while preserving its diverse cultural values.

I adopted the elements of ‘silk thread’ of textile factory to weave the six separate factory buildings together in a reasonable and orderly manner, so that they could achieve further enhancement in terms of function as well as touring line. chose to reform the main buildings, on the basis of protecting its historical appearance, breaking the grayish unpleasantness of old buildings. In addition, modern creative design was carried out on the exterior, color, lighting, and landscape of the building space, presenting a dialog and a harmonious integration between tradition and modern, creating a unique atmosphere space suitable for modern urban style, and bringing tourists a brand new cultural creative block.

building is too independent, tourists can't find a tour route, the whole block was shut down due to the shortage of funds .

The transformation to be carried out Draw lessons from the former ,Specific cultural lines will be set in this field .Letting people have leisure and entertainment time while understanding history and culture .

@I feel that the lively and pleasant atmosphere brought by these buildings can always warm me.

@I like to touch and feel history very much

my God it's much better than those boring museums!

@I come here every year to all kinds of parties

@My friends and often come to do manual work

@This is a good place to hang out ,especially for teens

DESCRIPTION

The Yangtze River in Wuhan has always been a extremely significant river throughout the history, shouldering an important role of transportation, irrigation, fishery, and hydro-power. Nevertheless, the lack of entertainment places and memorial museums for the young along the river leads young people to forget the once-brilliant river gradually. This design focuses on satisfying the basic needs of people for entertainment and leisure activities, increasing people’s understanding of the Yangtze River Basin as well as Chu culture.

This design provides a convenient place for both residents and tourists, whose main form is waterfront islands extending from the main island park. People can not only get immersive experience from the power of

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Cuba Square is in the eye of the storm. This immense concrete surface that was once a lively place, while it had neither been able to evolve in time, nor been capable of reinventing itself to host possible new urban programs. Laying inert and unused for most of the time. What it was supposed to be the civic and geographic centre of the city, has now turned out to be a sort of ‘Eye of the Storm’, an epicenter that witnesses the city around it but a space where nothing really happens.

This is a design that can give new life to the Cuba Square, aiming at reinterpreting a space full of history and cultural value through innovative and original projects. Our team intended to provide entertainment and leisure places for Cuban people. Therfore, our designs adopted rich straight line elements as well as domino elements to create a scene of integration of old and new. Since people come here to find their own memories of the streets of Cuban cities, from which we gained inspiration to take advantage of domino elements, impling a meaning that everyone will find their own card just like street domino card players.

Having an infinite sense of belonging to this land, Cuban people return to their native land. It is the main purpose of our design to show the artistic conception full of aesthetic feeling, and pay tribute to the historicity of public space in different times.
