Dear Chamber Members,
Fall is shaping up to be a busy and exciting season at the Hazlehurst-Jeff Davis County Chamber of Commerce, and we are looking forward to all that the coming months have in store! This week, we officially kicked off the JD Forward Class of 2027. We are excited to welcome this new group of leaders as they begin a year of learning, connecting, and gaining a deeper understanding of the people, businesses, and organizations that make Jeff Davis County a great place to live and work. We are also looking forward to the start of our State of the Community Series. The first session will be held Monday, September 14, featuring updates from Jeff Davis County Schools and Jeff Davis Hospital, followed by our second session on September 21 featuring the City of Hazlehurst and Jeff Davis County. We hope these conversations will provide our members and community with valuable information while creating an opportunity to hear directly from local leaders about what is happening across Jeff Davis County. And we’re just getting started! Our Fall & Winter 2026–2027 Sponsorship Guide has officially been released, and we have a full slate of events and programs ahead. From longstanding Chamber traditions to opportunities for networking, professional development, community engagement, and a little fun along the way, there are plenty of ways to get involved in the months ahead. JD Forward Class of 2027 is officially underway! Yesterday, we kicked off our first JD Forward session with a day focused on connection, leadership, and building relationships. Our class spent time getting to know one another before hearing from Ryan Waldrep with Georgia Power, our JD Forward Program Sponsor, who led an engaging session on the 5 Voices of Leadership and how understanding our own leadership styles—and those of the people around us—can help us become stronger, more effective leaders. Over lunch, we were joined by several past JD Forward graduates who shared their experiences, offered advice, and helped welcome our newest class into the JD Forward family. This is just the beginning for the JD Forward Class of 2027, and we’re excited for everything this group will experience, learn, and discover about Jeff Davis County over the months ahead! A special thank you to Georgia Power for investing in leadership development in our community and helping make JD Forward possible.
Chamber Happenings Chamber Happenings Our first annual 1905 Society Benefit Dinner was held on Thursday, August 20 in celebration of Jeff Davis County’s 121st year of incorporation and in benefit of our Community Foundation which raises funds to foster a thriving, resilient community for all Jeff Davis residents. Guests enjoyed a steak dinner and heard from Ken Smith on the history of Jeff Davis County.
