Dear Chamber Members,
As we head into the fall season, there is plenty happening at the Hazlehurst-Jeff Davis County Chamber of Commerce! Our 2026-2027 event calendar is set, and we are looking forward to another great lineup of opportunities to connect, engage, and support our local business community. Be sure to check out our Fall/Winter Sponsorship Guide on page 7 for upcoming events and available sponsorship opportunities. August gave us plenty to celebrate! We were proud to team up with the Jeff Davis High School Touchdown Club for our Jackets Mean Business Spirit Competition, and our Chamber member businesses truly showed up for the Yellow Jackets. From decorated storefronts to plenty of navy and gold throughout town, it was a great display of school spirit and community pride. You’ll find a recap and highlights from the competition inside this issue. We also celebrated the inaugural 1905 Society Benefit Dinner, hosted by the Jeff Davis County Community Foundation. It was a special evening at The Big House honoring the history and resilience of Jeff Davis County while investing in its future through the Community Fund. We are grateful to everyone who attended, supported, and helped make this first event such a meaningful one. Looking ahead, we invite our members and community to join us for our upcoming State of the Community series in September. On September 14, we’ll hear updates from the Jeff Davis County School System and Jeff Davis Hospital, followed by Jeff Davis County and City of Hazlehurst government on September 21. These events will include presentations, a moderated Q&A, and lunch, providing an opportunity to hear directly from local leaders about what is happening in Jeff Davis County and what lies ahead. We especially encourage our Chamber members to attend, stay informed, and be part of the conversation shaping our community. Thank you for your continued support of the Chamber and Jeff Davis County. Chamber Happenings Chamber Happenings Our first annual 1905 Society Benefit Dinner was held on Thursday, August 20 in celebration of Jeff Davis County’s 121st year of incorporation and in benefit of our Community Foundation which raises funds to foster a thriving, resilient community for all Jeff Davis residents. Guests enjoyed a steak dinner and heard from Ken Smith on the history of Jeff Davis County.

Announcing the JDForward Class of 2027 The Hazlehurst-Jeff Davis County Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the JDForward Class of 2027! This outstanding group of emerging leaders will spend the coming year learning more about Jeff Davis County through hands-on leadership development, community tours, interactive sessions, and service opportunities designed to prepare them to lead and serve our community for years to come. JDForward is the Chamber's premier leadership development program, created to equip early- and mid-career professionals with a deeper understanding of our community while strengthening their leadership skills and expanding their network of local leaders.
