Pastoral Message Continued We do not have to wonder whether He knows that we have financial needs. Jesus assures his followers in today’s passage that God knows we need food, clothes, and other material provision, and that we can trust him to provide. We believe that God often provides by guiding us to work and handle money wisely and faithfully. But the ultimate source of provision for us is the Lord. God’s love is so pervasive that he even feeds the sparrows, and you are far more important than sparrows! If we will put God first in our lives, and obey Him, He will provide for us abundantly. That is reassuring for us in difficult times. Matthew 6:25-34. Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[e]? 28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Pastoral Message Continued We will be active in ministry while observing safe “social distance.” Our Sunday worship services are available online at haymountumc.com, and we have a great line-up of encouraging messages for this Easter season. In addition many of our fellowship groups, Sunday school classes, and youth and children’s ministry are available online. We are also reaching out to members of the community who are suffering need, and to those who are lonely. You have been so faithful in support of your church these past few weeks. Organ Update By Donald Warren
Our long-awaited organ renovation project has begun! On March 22, Thomas Lewtak and his workers spent over eight hours removing the organ console from its berth in the chancel and removing the leather pouches from beneath many of the pipes. These were all loaded into vehicles and transported to their workshop in Mocksville, NC. Over the next few months, new leather pouches will be hand-made to fit beneath each pipe in the organ. The console will be stripped of its mechanical and electronic components and completely rebuilt with new state-of-the-art computer technology and fiber optic connections. The wood on the console will be refinished, and the keys will be polished back to their original luster. As the components were removed, pressure readings were taken to determine how much air is flowing to each division of pipes, to allow them to be reset properly when they are reinstalled. While taking the measurements, Mr. Lewtak discovered significant leaks all across the bellows system, which is indicative of how badly this renovation project was needed! Mr. Lewtak also took measurements to begin designing our new festival trumpet division for the back of the sanctuary. They will be mounted in the apse at the back of the balcony. Sunday School and Small Groups Children and Youth Weekday Interactive Bible learning and God-talk for your K-5th Grader via Zoom! YOU Pick the Bible Story, 2pm, Monday-Thursday for about 1/2 hour - Each child needs to pick a Bible story he or she wants to share for each day. We will not repeat stories, so they will need to pay attention! - The child who will share will read the story from the Bible, any Bible will do (even story Bibles for the younger kids). - We then will talk about the story. - The first child to sign in will be the one to choose, except if they have already chosen. Then the second, or the third, and so on. - We will share prayer concerns and pray together. HUMC Day Camp at Camp Rockfish June 8-12, 2020 /// 8:10am – 3:30pm each day Cost: $165/camper Registration Deadline: May 30, 2020 No refunds for cancellations after May 16, 2020 Pending the School calendar and availability of the camp, the date will remain as is. Should dates change, you will be notified. General Information: For children who have completed kindergarten to fifth grade. This camping experience is about communing with God in His great creation. We will learn what lives below the water and how good the water feels when the sun gets so hot. We will also test our trust as we walk in a creek – a week of faith-building full to exhaustion. We will meet at the front of the church by the New Life Center and travel by bus and vans to Camp Rockfish in Parkton, NC. Schedule: Gather at 8:10 am on Monday, 8:15 am on Tuesday-Friday - Bus and Vans leave punctually at 8:30 am and arrive at Camp Rockfish at 9:00am. - Bus/Vans leave Rockfish at 3pm and will return to the church at 3:30pm Activities include: Archery, Nature Hike, Games, Crafts, Creek Walk, Monkey Bridge, Water Games Tubing, Swimming, Fishing, Mud walk, Creek Float Register Online at www.haymountumc.com

Compassion means full immersion in the condition of being human.” - Henri Nowen This quote by Henri Nowen speaks to the heart of Stephen Ministry for me. Serving as a Stephen Minister has taught me how crucial it is to be comfortable with being genuinely present with and for another person.
