Inner World Blues.

(A gentle guide
To explore your inner world, thoughts, and all of it.)
Amanda (Part 1)
Amanda comes in. Asks questions. Instead of receiving “actual" answers; she receives scenes.
They serve as metaphorical and symbolic answers to her questions.
What’s a unique talent or gift that I have?:
A girl tosses a broken kite into the air; it of course tumbles back down; it falls back down every time she tosses it. But keeps doing it anyway.
“Goodness gracious girl!” One boy says, trudging up the hill. “Here!” He offers her a new kite; “it will fly better.”
“No thank you.” The girl says, tossing her broken kite into the air again and then catching it; “I like this one; I found it; it’s mine.”
“Hah.” The boy says, “whatever whatever, smooth go getter.”
And he takes his kite and runs with it and it flows into the air; rising higher and higher.
The girl watches; sighs and then continues to play with her broken kite.
Why was that place not meant for me after all?
A butterfly lands on a stem.
Two coffee mugs are standing there on a table talking. “Hey!” The butterfly says.
“What’s up?” The mugs say. And then resume their conversation.
The butterfly simply listens in.
“Ah,” one of the mugs says; finally turning to face the butterfly fully; “so, beautiful, what is really up?”
“I don’t know; just flying about.” The butterfly answers; “you?”
“Just chilling. Talking.” The mug replies; pointing to the other mug; who nods along in agreement. “How do you guys feel?”
“Alright.” The mugs answer; “you?”
“Good enough.” The butterfly says. They all pause for a moment.
“Come here, join us for a sec.” One of the mugs say.
“I’d love to but...” the butterfly sighs. “Okay, I’ll stay for a bit.”
They talk and chat. And it’s fun. The butterfly genuinely enjoys their conversations. What should I be more proud of when it comes to myself and who I am?
A yellow elephant barges into a ballroom. Everyone screams and gets up; but it passes through like a cloud; not damaging anything around it. It then stands and observes the world around it, for a moment. Crystal and Jane both hide under a table; and unexpectedly bump faces.
“Ow.” Crystal says.
“Hey!” Jane says in a half whisper. “Um-what’s going on out there?”
“Probably nothing...” Crystal says, blowing a piece of hair out of her face; “everyone here always makes a big deal out of nothing.” She waits for a moment. “Should we go out there and see it?”
“See what?” Jane asks.
“The elephant.”
“Um. No. You can go.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yep.”
“Okay.”
“Never mind I’ll see it too!” They both emerge from under the table. The elephant is gone.
“Huh.” They both say.
The ballroom is empty too. Save for a few people.
Now, you. (Part 2)
