South Carolina entered summer with more homes on the market, while closed sales increased across Greater Greenville and the Charleston Trident region. Through September, major food, music, and art festivals will bring visitors to Charleston, Greenville, and the Grand Strand.
South Carolina’s Housing Market
South Carolina offered a wider selection of homes in June, with statewide inventory rising nearly 9% from a year earlier. The median listing price remained unchanged at $369,500, while homes generally took slightly longer to sell and closed for an average of 1.3% below their asking prices, according to Realtor.com.
Activity increased in two of the state’s major metro areas. The Greater Greenville Association of REALTORS® reported a 13.9% rise in closed sales, with the median price holding at $330,000. In the Charleston Trident region, closed sales rose 18.4% and the median price increased 4.7% to $450,000. Inventory also grew in both regions, and properties took longer to secure an accepted offer than they did a year earlier.
The figures suggest a more active market with additional options for people exploring a move, even as prices remained steady in Greenville and continued to rise around Charleston.
