A Summer Guide to Western North Carolina’s Housing Market and Events Across the Mountains
Western North Carolina entered summer with median home prices above $434,000 across the Asheville region and $520,000 in the High Country. Late-summer concerts and festivals in Asheville, Hendersonville, and Brevard are also part of the season.
Western North Carolina’s Housing Market
June data from Canopy Realtor® Association’s Asheville region report placed the median sales price at $434,430, up 3.9% from a year earlier. Homes took 106 days to move from listing to closing, and the region had a 6.2-month supply of properties.
The High Country Association of REALTORS® reported 171 residential sales across Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, and Watauga counties, with a median price of $520,000. The region had 1,208 active listings and a 7.1-month supply of homes.
The figures show that mountain properties continue to command substantial prices, while longer selling timelines and more than six months of supply provide people exploring the region with time to consider their options.
Summer Music and Arts in Boone and Brevard
Asheville’s Downtown After 5 concert series returns to Pack Square Park on August 21 with live music and food vendors. The free outdoor series is also scheduled to hold its final 2026 concert on September 18.
