EXPO CHICAGO RETURNS TO NAVY

Expo Chicago will return to Navy Pier this April, running April 9–12 at Festival Hall. The 13th edition of the fair will feature more than 130 galleries from around the world. But this year’s edition, under new leadership, places particular emphasis on discovery, curatorial depth, and a clearer overall framework. Organizers have pointed to a more focused approach, aiming to make the environment more deliberate, more coherent, and easier to move through.

EXPO has long brought an international audience to the city, but this year’s edition also appears especially attuned to its local and regional context. Chicago galleries including GRAY, Corbett vs. Dempsey, moniquemeloche, PATRON, DOCUMENT, and Andrew Rafacz are part of the 2026 roster, reinforcing the fair’s connection to the city’s contemporary art scene.

The clearest sign of what makes this year different may be in the programming. EXPO Chicago is expanding its partnership with the Obama Presidential Center, with Dr. Louise Bernard, Founding Director of the Obama Presidential Center Museum, curating Embodiment and Evolution, two initiatives that offer an early look at artists, themes, and material culture connected to the institution ahead of its June opening. Other curated sections include Focus, curated by Katie A. Pfohl of the Detroit Institute of Arts, which will explore landscape, migration, and practices of craft and care.
